Sadly, no. Region 3 sya out of the box(from last I heard). Alam mo naman ibang salesmen, gusto pa pagkakitaan ang pag-punch ng code via remote(making it region-frere). They will say na di pwede yun gawin region free at "mahuhuli sila", which is bullcrap. Sa Abenson Cubao na sana ako bibili ng unit ko ng nag-canvass ako nitong player na ito, pero ayaw i-region free ng salesman. Good thing napunta ako sa Abensons Galleria at accommodating pa yung salesman at LG rep. Instant region-free sya. Hehehe.

it's fairly easy to liberate the unit... bluebeard posted the instructions on how to make your player region-free in page one of this thread:

   Here is the specific instructions I got from an LG Hacks site which I used to make my DK9934N region-free
   (this was confirmed by the local LG service center):

                         
   Power on the player with no disc in the drive                           
   Wait for the "No Disc" message to appear                                 
   Press PAUSE the Remote                   
   Enter 3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9 on the Remote (the word REGION 3 appears on the   
   display, if it doesn't change, try it again).                           
   Enter 0 on the Remote to display REGION 0 (0 = All Regions, 1 = Region   
   1, 2 = Region 2, 3 = Region 3, etc.)                                     
   Press Pause on the Remote ; then press STOP.                                               
   Power the player Off, wait 30 seconds and then power back On   

   Btw, I played a downloaded DIVX (When Harry met Sally) and a self-created Divx (Troy) and they both played
   w/o any hitches.   It also played Mpg movies, mp3. and wma music files flawlessly and jpg pics. It cannot run
   ordinary AVI videos.  (Note that Divx has an .avi extension also.)  FF is up to 100X.

   Volume control on the remote is applicable only if your TV set is also and LG brand.

Kakabili ko lang ng LG dk9934n last week sa Automatic Center Cubao (price nya 5248 with 3 yrs warranty).  Meron din ako nakita sa SOGO Appliance Center sa AliMall -- marami pa ata stocks nila.


Question lang.

Pag nanonood ako ng DVD na meron 5.1 settings sa audio, andf lumalabas sa player (pag pinindot mo yung "audio" ng remote) 2.1 ch.  Though naririnig ko naman na gumagana lahat ng sub-sats ko (5.1). Ok lang ba to?

Better to leave the audio set up at 5.1 to take advantage of the separation between speakers.

Im curious with this, there are some DIVX that it cant play, im getting frustrated. I had one DIVX series got from the net, its Friends season 2 and 3 and it wont play it. I think that audio is ac3 and it doesnt support it. Are there any divx players that does? is this player upgradeable through firmware?

i think the ac3 audio is for divx 6 which is 5.1.  the player only supports divx 5 which is 2.0.

If you're thinking of buying the 9934N, better get it soon. I spoke with an LG rep from their main office and she said that the model has been officially phased out. The only stocks lefts are the ones with their dealers. Abenson doesn't seem to have any units left so try other outlets.

I asked about the 9933 which has DivX and HDMI output, but she didn't know anything about it.

By the way, my cousin burned a lot of files and the used Nero. He used the drag and drop thing, so it was a mix of folders(with files inside), DiVx, MPEG, MP3 etc. So, I take it it's a "data" CD. Thing is, my player only plays one video ( If I remember it right, the last one dragged and droped on Nero) and I can't see the rest of the files. The DVD-R was placed on a PC's DVD-Rom and all files showed up. Any suggestions or inputs as to whether my LG player can access those files?

Your cousin may have burned a mutli-session disc which isn't compatible with most standalone players. Only solution is to copy all the files back to your PC then burn a new single session disc if that's the case.

No, you don't have to write a single session disc, this player can handle multi session burnt disc properly.  All you have to do is find the right session folder on the LG's menu. This player as compared to other dvd players(I owned) makes different session folders, meaning if you burn something today and burn another tomorrow on the same disc, the player will display two folders: session 1 and session 2 and will find all the latest files on the most recent folder created.

Now, this is a problem.  I'm sure there are DK9934N owners here who hook their players to an AVR via 5.1 analog out. My problem started when as opposed to using the player's optical out(which was working fine) I tried to use its 5.1 analog outs using a combination of wires(RCA, DIY microphone wires, DIY coaxial, wala kasi akong 5 RCA hehe) and hooked it up to a DTS decoding AVR (Onkyo) and used the dvd test tones (under setup) NOT ALL CHANNELS PRODUCED SOUND!

I tried using one RCA cable and test all the channels thinking that the wire I used were the culprit, ganunun pa rin, not all channels were outputting pink noise.

So, is it a case of bad burn or I'm just not doing something right? 

I believe you have no problems regarding the disc burn, what I'm trying to tell is that you might be checking the wrong folders(on the dvd player's menu). If I'm not mistaken, your problems are with multisession, my solution is find the most recent session folder( na nag-aapear sa TV screen mo kapag binasa na ng player ung disc na pinasok mo) and you will find all the files there old and new, but there's a tricky part also - this player separates the type of media you burnt (even in one disc and even in one folder) all the music(mp3,WMA), videos(divx, mpg) and photo files(jpg) will all be displayed SEPARATELY AND YOU NEED TO TOGGLE THE DISPLAY BUTTON TO GET TO WHAT TYPE OF FILES YOU WANT TO DISPALY AND USE. PEACE.

Pixellated in my generic Lexing 009.  :'(

Btw, both units plays Divx movies ver 5.x and below version.

The DK-9934N was phased out according to the LG rep I talked to because they're bringing in the DK-9935. Features should be the same but hopefully this is the model with HDMI output.

my next choice would be the pioneer brand but if somebody knows a dk9943n sold somewhere, maybe i can still get one.

If you are really interested, I have a DK9934N that I bought late last year (November 2005 ata) with 3 years warranty.  I'd like to sell this coz I recently bought a DVD player from LG... almost same features with this plus it's a karaoke machine.    Just PM me if you're interested... thanks!
