That's exactly my option for brader Pip's plan, use the BabyG now as an integrated, then a tube preamp (a basic 2-tube or an Aikido if budget permits) in the future. I'll just reconfigure the BabyG to be a power amp by then.  ;)




PS: Are you back already? Next week tune up schedule is a go, this weekend I'll just finish up on an el cheapo sub xover/controller project aimed for sub diyer's needs.

I was playing with ideas for the frames, here is one I made with a "greene and greene design". huhuhu, all I can do at the moment is imagine I guess...

Sir Jojo, what is the common sizes of your works (Baby G and maybe the Aikido)? I am thinking po if I can make custom casing for the sides lang, if that is ok with you... will offer it as an option...

Sir Timber, there is actually no common size but the Aikido can be built with a bended c-section aluminum sheet and the sidings with your wood works. The smallest size you could consider would be 2" x 7" x 12-1/2" box. Wood is not a very good conductor of heat so I assume this will just be for accent and it should be ok.

is there a work around for this? the top would still be aluminum, the bottom could be aluminum too and the heat transfer can pass with the back being aluminum too. would that work? ports can be made in wood to allow air to pass thru and circulate too I guess. otherwise it would really be an accent lang...

I believe there are two ways to integrate wood, top and bottom will be aluminum, with wrap around wood (front, sides, back) or top, bottom, front and back will be aluminum and the sides would be wood (the faceplate too can be wood pala). both ways, you can also put wood accents on top and just allow natural convection for cooling.

As for the BabyG, or any other amp for that matter, I think only the sides can be made of wood.

basta enjoy lang sa projects brader walang problema... speaking of mapapahinga, meron isa diyan sigurado ako hindi pa nagpapahinga! pinasundo na dito kanina yun ASL...  ;) ;) ;)
