Jo, what cpu are you running your cnc? Naka smoothstepper ka ba? Need info kasi regarding that.
Timbs, Intel Atom lang cpu ko brader, Intel D525MW mini ITX board. Built in na yun cpu sa motherboard.
Nope, naka parallel port connection ako mas secure yun but you have to have a very good latency count, kaya the need for a specific cpu/motherboard combo. Listed yan motherboard ko sa LinuxCNC as one with the modest latency scores and luckily locally available siya.
With Linus-based CNC programs, cpu power is not #1 for things to look for. If you will use USB, it is mandatory to employ smoothstepper and if Windows-based, a hefty cpu/memory setup. CPU power depends on your software requirements brader.
In my CNC, the travel time is controlled by the latency for extreme accuracy. Some have setups with feedrates up to 100ipm pero yun sa akin max ko na 40ipm. Slower means enough gaps in the digital pulses which correlates to less missed steps and with what I do with my CNC one mil is one mil.
