Guys, are you really enjoying your turntables? Why? Salamat po.
As someone who just recently got a turntable, here are my thoughts.
Yes, I enjoy it because it's different from listening to my cds and digital files. Iba yung experience.
I don't think it's better though. Just different. And for someone like me who has cds and digital files and listens via headphone, car stereo, cd player and wireless DAC, it has a lot of "buts":
1. Vinyl is expensive;
2. You can't play it on the background while doing chores, or surfing the net, or playing mobile games, for example. You'll have to run back to your turntable every 20 minutes or so. In other words, it's not for the multi tasking generation hahaha;
3. Part of the fun is looking for records, whether brand new or used. But it also takes a lot of time. Unlike digital downloads where it's easy to find your songs from iTunes or HD tracks, and you can do this in the comfort of your home at whatever time of day;
4. It's not portable;
5. Parang mahirap maintenance nya. You need to check your needle every so often in case it has accumulated dirt (you'll hear it though hahaha). I tried watching one of those Michael Fremer videos on how to set up your turntable properly, and reading articles on changing whatever component of my rp3 so it will sound better and I just ended up thinking "so that's why cd players and digital music players were invented." Hahaha.
