My friend, try the Marantz DV 6001, great for audio & video (HDMI can be turned off). In fact the video circuitry can be completely turned off (incl the LED display at front). Upsamples to 88.1 & 176.4 khz. Plays sacd & dvd audio.

sir,

how much ang marantz-dv6001?

After much haggling and reminders of my past purchases from Avesco Cubao I got it for 16T plus. I think their regular price is 23T. Amazon retails it for 500 dollars the last time I checked.

Cash, absolute. Don't know bout their stocks, you have to ask the AV manager Jong. I believe their only color is silver.

Beats all other Marantz cdp I previously owned, even with the upsampling turned off. DVDA & SACD performance is very good to excellent. Video upscaling is first rate.

Sir sonnysin168 good to hear your short take on Marantz DV6001. Do you happen to spot DV7001 which is just a notch higher on DV6001? How about the latest line of A/V receiver x003 during your visit to Avesco? I own Marantz A/V Amp and i like it for its musicality and for being neutral. Planning to upgrade soon my gears and looking at marantz DV7001 or 6001. Sori kung OT na po. Thanks and God bless.

They have the 7001 (I think this won the What Hi-Fi product of the year) at Avesco. If I were a little richer I would have bought it instead of the 6001. I believe there is another dealer now for Marantz products, as Avesco switched to Yamaha products.

Avesco have no newer Marantz HMDI receivers, what they have are I think version 1.2, not 1.3a. I've switched back to pure audio ('seldom used my Onkyo 605, except for multi-channel sacd & dvda's) and partnered the 6001 to my heavily modified AMX EL34 Overture and KEF Q90 speakers. My system does not pretend to be hi-end, but within the price range, is already satisfying for me.

Denon. But the highs are a bit extended, needs to partner with warm sounding components and speakers. Plus, the selling price is ridiculously high here, compared with U.S. websites.

sobrang interested din ako sa ganitong klaseng player kasi masyadong mabigat kung dedicated pa cd and dvd player mo. ano po kayang best buy for under 10k? paki-indicate na rin po ung model at saan sya available. thanks.

If you're looking for a new player, you can try the Pioneer DV 610 which is just above 6T. Plays every format except BD. But audio can sound a bit sharp and needs to partner with warm amp & speakers. I think Sony also has universal player (again, no BD playback) for under 6t, but can sound a bit on the softer side. If you will increase your budget by a couple of T, you can order the Oppo 980 from Toy (good sounding and outputs sacd via HDMI but video is only 1080i I think).

Toy is a member of PDVD, he regularly imports from the U.S. The newer models of Oppo do not bitstream DSD signals through HDMI, as I understand and soundwise, the 980 got the best review, further improvements on the newer models (more expensive) are on the video side.  However, I don't think the Oppo dvd can beat the Marantz 6001. Aside from the Sony and Pioneer, there are no cheap but good sounding universal players available locally, except of course on the 2nd hand market. I hope this helps.

Why don't you try a sub 10k DVD player mated with an outboard DAC?  Using my 6 year old Pioneer DV355 (P6k dati) with a musical fidelity V-DAC and the results rival that of a dedicated CD player in the 20k-30k plus range.  Apart from the transport, the DAC should also be considered.

If you have an existing DVD player and it has digital outs, try out an outboard DAC.  The V-DAC is about 12.5k.  It replaced my old modded Lite DAC-AH (which I still have sitting on a shelf).

Cambridge Audio DV89 is around 10k and provides decent CDDA, SACD and DVD-A playback, aside from DVD video. :) It also has upscaling and HDMI output.

I agree with Stagea, the cambridge audio dv89 is indeed a good bang for the buck all in one player.
