Topic: ASTROPLUS Podium Pre-Christmas 2005 Sale

sir ranran, question lang,medyo OT ata..anyway,whats the difference ba between the c-interactive releases of LOTR here compared to that of R1?

so far LOTR releases are ok, but the rest of the C-Interactive releases (ie. Chron. of Riddick, Van Helsing, etc.) were poorly produced (IMHO).  I even heard other pinoydvd members say that sometimes they have trouble playing C-Interactive discs.

I went back this evening and noticed the P150 dvds of viva.  just wondering, why are they cheaper?

Noticed them also.  For me the only titles I would consider are the Rambo trilogy which used to be priced at 199.

if you'll notice, titles such as Spiderman 1 & 2, Tears of the Sun and Bad Boys 2 (to name a few) have cheaper version releases (i mean cheap looking based on packaging, cover art and single disc instead of 2-disc, etc.) maybe that's why its cheaper.

Sayang ulit!  Too bad that I had only yesterday to go to Podium.  Had to take care of errands today.  Hopefully, I'll be able to go back tomorrow.  O baka naman, puro latak na lang ang matitira.  Or I might just have to wait for the Galleria sale, or other sales before Christmas.

No need for buying frenzy.  Didn't we have this sale 2 weeks ago?  This is just a pre-Christmas sale.  Malayo pa ang Christmas.  There's plenty of sales like this to come.

i was able to pass by again at Astro Podium and the guy from Viva mentioned that there will be another sale at Astroplus Megamall and Podium on Oct 14-16!

so here are my thoughts on the astroplus podium sale...

the warner titles are a wee higher than previous sales. titles that usually go for 275 are priced for 325 or 375.
only notable title ive seen is angels in america for 425 (from its original price of 825) considering that i bought this one for 475. boxsets are also limited. Band of Brothers goes for 2450. (which i got for 1700 during the last warner sale)
I was hoping to see James Dean DVDs. and other warner SE DVDs. wala nga lang.

the saving private ryan boxset is priced at 1500 (from 2500) previous sales, this set went for as low as 1100.

no offense, pero, I never even glanced at the C-Inter. items.

Disney/BuenaVista/Fox DVDs are priced at 250. super. Nothing on my buying list. (James and the Giant Peach, INcredibles R1 and Aladdin R1) I saw some Aladdin copies at the counter though.

during the first day of sale, around 11am, meron pang Episode I, unfortunately wala yung episode two.  The Episode I was priced at P250 only.

I came very early and I didnt get the last copy of any title. There were still copies of every title I got (even Alladin R1) when I acquired mine.

Just read the posts, eveyone was in a buying frenzy. Di lang po ako ang may dala ng basket na puno. Marami pa sila pero di lang sila nagpost ng purchases nila dito.

Btw, did anyone else pick-up Dragon's World: A Fantasy Made Real? It's a docu on dragons similar to the Walking with... series from the BBC. I went back for it after I read that the script was developed with the help of Neil Gaiman.

Btw, would anyone know the difference between the Trilogy version of Back to the Future and the individual releases?  Kakainis lang kasi it was too late when I noticed that the trilogy version I bought only had DTS available for Spanish while the individual releases had English DTS.  The trilogy kasi had a sticker saying that it was the "new version", anyone know what this means?

regarding the back to the future trilogy set, the "new version" sticker means that the discs inside are already the "corrected" version. in the first release of the set, there were framing errors in part 2 and part 3. there's a long discussion on the region 1 release here at pinoydvd, and region 3 also had these errors.

Btw, did anyone else pick-up Dragon's World: A Fantasy Made Real? It's a docu on dragons similar to the Walking with... series from the BBC. I went back for it after I read that the script was developed with the help of Neil Gaiman.

Also got it but more for the supposed similarity with Walking with Dinosaurs than Neil's involvement. Not as good as Walking with Dinosaurs since Dragon World used more CGI than the animatronics that Walking with Dinosaurs used to make it realistic.
