If you went to the SM Makati Astro sale last weekend and picked up everything you wanted, I don't think this upcoming sale will offer you anything new. The titles that were out of stock since the last sale (Sopranos season 1, Pearl Harbor, Pirates of the Carribean) will still be missing from this sale as well. The key Disney Titles will also be missing here as well because shoppers who don't know about the upcoming sale will have no problem paying the current P299 sale price for them.
I think we'll just see the same ol' same ol' title. The Alien, Die Hard, Back to the Future, Matrix, Batman, James Bond and all their sequels, the 6th sense, etc. etc.

Here are my reasons to get excited about the Podium sale:
1. There were some titles na naubusan ako like Forrest Gump. So hopefully makakuha na ako.
2. Naka budget ako during the Astro SM Makati sale. Now that my second Credit Card's Cut off date has passed, pwede na gamitin. Ayoko kasi isang biglang bagsakan sa isang card.
3. During the SM Makati sale, I did not bring with me a list of the titles I want. So hindi ko rin nakuha lahat. Kukunin ko ngayon.
4. The possibility of seeing those "hard to find Disney/Buena Vista titles. At least baka may chance.
5. I might consider those Disney/Buena Vista titles which I ignore even with a 299 price tag, but this time at a 250 price.
6. More importantly for me is getting those Warner & Magnavision titles which take forever to be discounted. So I'm going to podium for those more so than the Disney/Buena Vista dvds.

The Italian Job is on sale at P999. It includes the old movie as well as the new one. Not really a bargain. I went to Radio City at Shangrila and got the Italian Job (DVD9) for P375. It's their last copy.

during the first day of sale, around 11am, meron pang Episode I, unfortunately wala yung episode two. The Episode I was priced at P250 only.

so far LOTR releases are ok, but the rest of the C-Interactive releases (ie. Chron. of Riddick, Van Helsing, etc.) were poorly produced (IMHO). I even heard other pinoydvd members say that sometimes they have trouble playing C-Interactive discs. ;)

O baka naman the previous night pa lang (Sept 29), nakalagay na sa "reserved" pile. :P ;) I was there the first day of the sale at about 10:30 AM and I only saw Star Wars Episode I.
regarding the back to the future trilogy set, the "new version" sticker means that the discs inside are already the "corrected" version. in the first release of the set, there were framing errors in part 2 and part 3. there's a long discussion on the region 1 release here at pinoydvd (http://pinoydvd.com/board/index.php?topic=4015.0), and region 3 also had these errors.
Btw, did anyone else pick-up Dragon's World: A Fantasy Made Real? It's a docu on dragons similar to the Walking with... series from the BBC. I went back for it after I read that the script was developed with the help of Neil Gaiman.Also got it but more for the supposed similarity with Walking with Dinosaurs than Neil's involvement. Not as good as Walking with Dinosaurs since Dragon World used more CGI than the animatronics that Walking with Dinosaurs used to make it realistic.

"new version" means that the framing issue was corrected, there was a thread here that explains the misframing issues, however disc 3 still has misframe errors

After watching parts of my BTTF Trilogy last night, here is what I have to report:
Good news: Subtitle was right, the DTS is in English and not in Spanish...yehey! This is what I was really after in the first place ;D The error in Disc 2 has already been corrected...another hurray for that! ;D
Bad news: Toyfanatic was right, Disc 3 still had the frame error although this was just really obvious in one part where you couldn't see the shoes of Marty, the others were negligible but nonetheless, its still there.
Conclusion: Since I bought these already, I can live with it. The errors in Disc 3 will not really affect my viewing experience--since you really have to look for them to notice the errors. IMHO the English DTS tracks more than make up for it. But, if you are planning to purchase one, I suggest that you get the "REAL" new version.
Btw, was there really a resolution to this? I was reading the BTTF R3 posts and it looked like the people there just got fed up and forgot the whole thing. Maybe Firewired can shed some light ::) ;D

No, dvd-5 titles are not disclosed in its label. Most of titles are priced at P299. If you have computer, you can easily identify the nature of the disk...kaso pag nabili mo na...wala nang balikan. Ang maganda nyan, ma-familiar ka sa mga titles na dvd-9. If you're planning to shop this comming sale, you may ask assistance from fellow members.

Sad But TRUE! Bought them early this year. But hey. My cuz has the original one and comes in a flipper which is dvd5...so OK na rin. DTS naman eh ;)
If the price is P299 and it is released by Magnavision, then you may assume that the title is in DVD5. If you are unfamiliar with the titles, you may ask the sales personnel to confirm if it's a Magnavision release. On the other hand, all of C-Interactive releases are in DVD5. The C-Interactive logo is usually shown at the back cover.

It may not be noticable. But I think the PQ & SQ suffers compared to DVD9s.

Did VIVA release DVD5s? i think their P299 sale are all DVD9s. IMHO, VIVA have been releasing pretty good R3 releases, mostly comparable to it's R1 counterparts. please correct me if i'm wrong :-\
Yeah the JACK dvd I got during the sale is a DVD5. It has the Buenavista holographic seal and the VIVA copyright at the back. I do not know if said title was originally released in R1 as DVD5 though.

i was just at The Podium this evening, a lot of DVDs are piled on the floor and unfortunately i didn't see any new titles (especially Disney's). most of the sale prices are at P375 and some at P299. i hope they include some new titles in time for the scheduled sale date. i'm personally looking forward to National Treasure - i hope they can re-stock this title. ;)

The DTS collector's edition versions of the Tom Clancy series (Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger) are also at P375. Just make sure you look at the disc because there are 2 versions of the Tom Clancy DVDs (The non-DTS and the DTS).
By Friday, these titles will most likely be down to P333. But if you can't make it over the weekend, you can pass by within the week and grab these at P375. Not that much difference unless you're buying in bulk.
Di ko napansin yung Jack Ryan boxset. I think it would be better to purchase individually. Yung Indiana Jones Trilogy P3200, but the individual discs are P375 each, same lang naman content.

Just got back from astro, sabi nung salesperson, most of the PHP375 DVDs will be priced PHP299 then the rest mukhang hindi na isa-sale.... :( sana dagdagan nila ang nakasale I mean isama yung mga regular priced DVDs sa sale..... Sana kasama MADAGASCAR pero as per the sales person hindi rin daw kasama yun :(

Bought the following titles at the sale:

- Peter Pan
Plus, I bought a Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Soundtrack.
Passed by this morning. Wala masyadong tao. Well as of this morning yung mga 375 titles are still 375. They are not marked down to 333. Wala pa daw silang memo na ibababa sa 333 ang mga current 375 titles.
Nothing new naman. No titles really worth noting that is different from the past sales. The recent releases like Madagascar, Star Wars 3, Titanic 3Dics & War of the Worlds among others are not included. Warner has plenty of the 299 & 350 titles but no new additions.
One title that caught my eye from the stacks of reserved dvds is Stealth 2Disc. It seems maraming nagpareserve nito. I asked the store if kasama sa sale. Di pa raw alam. No memo yet. But maybe daw. So baka yung "maybe" na yun ay nagpatabi na rin yung mga nagpareserve.
Went there to get Hellboy & yung dating walang pumapansin na Karate Kid 1,2 & 3. Hellboy wala nang stock as of this morning. Lahat naka "reserve" na dun sa pile na nakatabi. But to my surprise, yun Karate Kid trilogy, and daming nagpareserve. Some even had multiple copies of each. Available lang are 1 & 3. So I thought balik na lang ulit ako mamaya. Baka may dumating pang stock.
So I left without any loot.

They're selling the Indiana Jones boxed sets for P999, its' a no-brainer against buying the trilogy separately even at P333@, hope they have enough stocks though...
Ghostbusters 1 & 2 gift set also at P999.

What titles are these? I might be able to tell you if talagang kasama siya sa 375 titles even before sa Podium sale so you would know if talagang 333 lang siya during the sale or they got stripped off from the selections under the 375 price range.

just been to Podium and got myself the Jack Ryan series seperately (each @ 375) ang boxed set hindi DTS although same price with the ones sold seperately. They also have a couple of Ice Age Extreme Cool Edition @ 299. Hindi kasama sa sale ang mga boxed sets as per the sales person. Sobra dami naka-sale, as per the Viva salesperson yung mga marked down hindi na baba ang price, baka daw yung mga nasa regular price and ilagay sa sale! Sana! :D[/size]
Hi again.
I bought the Superman I DVD last week based on the sticker on it saying it was 2-disc.
But upon opening the package, I discovered there was actually only 1 disc in it, although it was dual-sided.
I got turned off a bit because I was expecting 2 discs rather than a dual-sided single disc.
Is this the case for all the other copies of Superman I DVD being sold?

First of all, I just wanna say thanks to the people at Astro Podium for giving me excellent customer service, allowing me to return the Superman I and extra copy of Man On Fire SE dvd which I bought, and replace them with other titles. Props to the Astro Podium manager and staff and more power!!!
Secondly, does anyone know the difference between the Bewitched DVD selling at P475, and the Bewitched Special Edition DVD selling at P875? I asked the store staff and they said they're basically the same except for the movie quality. I checked the special features of the P475 version and it seems to be intact. The only initial difference I noticed was that the P475 version carried only the English language, whereas the P875 verstion also had Korean and some other languages.
Thanks in advance to anyone who could add more info on this. :)
