I have seen Blu-rays' demo disc (from pics only) and I was really amazed by its exterior (ano pa kaya ung actual scenes) but I am wondering why it seems only Blu-ray has picked up the hobby here.
I have an experience in movie editing too (self concocted music videos) but on a purely hobby level only using free downloadable software. My point is, making demo disc/s is not that difficult you just need - DVD decrypter/Smart ripper(to rip the dvd segment), a VOB(ripped dvd file) editor or any video editor that can handle the job, an excellent burner and media plus plenty of hard drive space and SPARE TIME.
I have not viewed ANY demo disc but I guess there are animated menu too for it to have a real dvd feel to it and there are (I guess) free software to make this happen because if there are no menu (specially animated ones) this simpler than I expected. Making music videos is harder (mas madiskarte) to accomplish because one has to integrate the right scene appropriate to the song's lyrics and mood unlike the "cut and paste" procedure which is basically done on doing demo discs(again no offense meant
).
I guess the last but best music video that I have done (because of the DVD video quality but only stereo audio quality
) was when I used ROTK(ang tagal na 'no) scenes and integrated it with Creed's-With Arms Wide Open. I would like to share it here but it is a 200+MB file which is the same file I tested with the LG dvd player I bought at Automatic Centre and believe me, people (including staff and customers) were stunned not because of the video (ok) nor the sound (crappy mp3) but because of the integration. My other music video-scenes from Pearl Harbor, music from Edwin Mccain's I'll be- moved my college classmates to tears.
I might decide to do dvd demo discs myself in the future but might not come close to Blu-rays disc in appearance (tamad ako sa post-production eh) but may mimic what's embedded inside. 0's and 1's.Peace.
