WOW!!!   :o :o  Finally got a chance to audition sir alvin's set-up....  first on is two channel audition and hear what the Elacs can do...wow!!  those speakers arent just good looking and huge...but closing my eyes...as swore I though a band ensemble is in front me.

Next stop was the HT audition.  I was particularly impressed by the PJ set-up.  Considering that we have the same Panny ae900, the video output is way better than mine.  Colors were richer and more accurate.  Besides that its better calibrated (kong alvin surely knows how to...he has lots of calibrating software and equipment), what really impressed me is his pre/pro...ANTHEM AVM50.  Me built in scaler nato...and watching LOTR was really impressive.  Ive watched the same title in my set-up, but definitely, resolution is better ke alvin's.  thats really taking it up a notch.

Final viewing was HD DVD.  I am really curious on what the HD DVD camp would say, the Look and Sound of Perfect.  He slipped the Chronicles of Riddick on...and seeing the FBI anti-piracy warning sign on the opening screen, I was aghast.  coz the letters were sharp and you could read the small letters (department of justice) perfectly from afar,  no jaggies whatsoever.  dun pa lang, I could already see a night and day difference.  Video on the movie was just way better.  when  viewed on smaller screens, i dont know if you'll see the same improvement.  Its really just an awesome experience.  Humbling too coz I know Im years away from experiencing that in my own set-up.

Congrats sir alvin..... ;D ;D  and thanks a lot for the demo.  Learned a lot too.  Laki pa ng HT room.  14ft x 22ft, spacious!!!

PS....watching the charlotte church concert, the video I saw there kong alvin was really like near HD na.  That ANthem AVM50 really delivers the goods!!  of course, ur calibration techniques too.

I got the pearl white, color doesn't matter much as it is installed behind me. I found that it does not bother me at all. The good thing is it is very quiet at 19dB, I hear my aircon more than this baby.

Just saw ice age 2(blu-ray) and King Kong(hd-dvd), I must say that these 2 titles really rocks. They look awesome at 1080p. I did a greyscale calibration before watching and now its very close to D65 from 30 to 100 IRE.

I am not sure if I an post a screenshot as I am not sure the best way of capturing the image. Anyway I will try in the nest few days when I have the time. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase ;D

Hi Alvin,

Happy Easter to you and your family.  Pareho tayo ng plano -- I'll just stay at home for the next five days and enjoy my system which you calibrated.  I'm so satisfied with it now. People who come visit me are really impressed with both the sound and the video quality. And this is why I have not come around to visiting you. Mahirap na dahil siguradong maiingit lang ako ;D.  Especially now that you've beefed up further on your amplification!!! I can only imagine what your system now sounds like -  must be a slice of heaven.

By the way, when your COLORFACTS 7.0 COLOR ANALYZER arrives will it mean that you can further improve on my PJ?

Best regards.

Not really, its just richer  in terms of reporting and ease of use. I will be using the same probe.

Glad to hear you are enjoying your HT.  :D

Basic calibration can be done by anybody who has a test disc. It is indispensable as a SPL meter. No home theater should be without these 2.

I would like to share my settings with the ax100 that I have calibrated but they vary from unit to unit. The screen, lamp life as well as ambient light affect the calibration values.

I now use the latest Colorfacts 7.0 software and a Gretag Macbeth Eye1pro as my sensor. This is a topnotch and accurate system. It cost an arm and a leg, but for me its all worth it that I can squeeze the best performance from my system. ;D

Alvin,

Thanks for accommodating me at your home theater last Saturday, on such short notice. It was definitely a worthwhile experience, particularly your 2-channel set-up. It's been some time since I have heard the magic of a truly high-end 2-channel system, where the speakers seem to disappear, the sound stage is wide and you are transported into a top-rate concert hall. It's not just live, it is concert-quality live. And it is magic ... equal to David Copperfield!

The movie experience was also top-notch, though nabingi yata misis ko.  :)

Kapag nabili ko na bago screen, punta ka uli sa theater ko.

Thanks again!
No room acoustic treatment is like running a Ferrari on ice.
