I recall discussing impedances versus frequencies in another thread.  I thought this fact has long been established already.  Isn't it?

Anyway,  going back to the topic, I have the impression matitino ang Dai-ichi speakers.  The sales people seem to be another thing.  ;D

Sir, so its best to use the 4 ohms impedance switch? rather than the 8ohms, when using a 6 ohms speaker load. much secured if the amp is cooler.

so sir according to you kung pang "audiophile listening" is much better to leave the switch untouch (case of yamaha 8ohms setting) kahit ano pang load ng speakers ang gamitin mo,.... then pag bugbugan naman its better to follow the manufacturers recommended impedance load?  ??? ....

hindi ba burden on both end yun (speakers and AVR) ? meron bang noticable difference on over-all audible performance pag nag toggle ka sa impedance switch for what is best for both gears (speakers and AVR)? katulad ng sinasabi ng audioholics na nababawasan daw ang dynamics and overall fidelity.

I don't know whether there is noticeable sound difference if you toggle the impedance switch. For typical listening, I think none. Pag medyo binirit mo na, and you are asking the power of nature to play unusually, meron. For good designed AVR, they are usually protected, so using low-imp load kahit na ka 8-ohm ka, nag ti-trip yung protection niya kapag nag-overdrive ka (that is, if you trust the protective circuit to save you any damage of gears). This condition draws more power than the amp can supply, and can bust your transistors.

On the other hand, speakers have no protection at all, and if you feed it with an amp switched to 4-ohm (which typically brings down the bias voltage), at nirakrak mo nang husto, you are in for a clipping (DC state) - bust una ang tweeter mo, maging lonely ang woofer mo, baka magpakamatay na rin yan.

For your calculated typical listening, leave the switch untouched.

so tama ba si Mr. John o hindi?  ::)

Sir, dami sinabi no John eh. ...rubber ... ngongo ... impedance

Yung rubber ... medyo iniisip ko pa ... bakit ???

Yung ngongo, medyo tama siya - pag woofer nga lang yung center mo, ngongo talaga yon. Pag mid-woofer, baka medyo ngongo na lang.  ;D  ;D .

Commercial gears typically include basic caution and protection to guide those who are not technically adept to amp/speakers behavior. Technical audiophile can tweak according to their level of knowledge. Some do not employ snubber circuit or zobel network in the output, audiophile can remove it if they are sure they have no use for it in their environment. Yamaha can put the imp caution at the back to protect your amp - without telling you, your speaker will give its ghost first should you abuse your amp. Technical audiophile can rest in peace even without making an imp switch.

Yamaha knows how to protect their gears form abusive users. It is just a matter of standards in their boxes. But switching it is not mandatory, if you know what you are doing (read.. aware of the do's and don'ts).

Sir AHobbit, just wanna know kung what model you're referring to. Please enlighten me. The Daiichi speaker that I have or have seen which has the least sensitivity is the Euros 8 which is rated at 88 dB. Thank you sir. Have a nice day.  :)

US AUdio yata ang isa, also refer to wharfs and competitors.

for most yamaha receivers leaving the switch at 8 ohms should sound better as long as you dont push it too its limit. Its an option, but if you want to protect your gears, choose the safest setting, the sound difference might not be worth your peace of mind. Or better yet just get 8 ohm speakers ;D

 ;)

could be much better into 4ohm speaker - due to increase power bandwidth... have not tried - just playing amp theories with higher bias voltage.

Mababago ba curve kung iba w/m?

copper characteristics is given at controlled temp. What happen if current passed through a coil? get heated beyond the property measurement of the copper, impedance varies as temperature. Same with transistors. heat changes characteristics of transistors, that's why, they need to be maintained at certain ranges in order to minimize distortions. better yet, if they are maintained cold. Tube is different - keep them so hot, to function with minimal distortion.

nope not yet the graph i showed you are just a followup on the tested 50hz setting using a 1w/1m.

maybe upto 25ohms pde pa ako maniwala for a typical mas market speakers like dai-ichi but not 32ohms...

like this limestone speakers...

The impedance varies from 5.5 Ohms to 25 Ohms, and electrical phase never strays beyond 45deg. The impedance valley at 80 Hz represents the tuning frequency. These would be an easy speaker for mass market receivers to drive.

hanns,

it is a frequency sweep at 1 watt. How many seconds did they employ the sweep? how about, if it is 1watt rms in 1 hour (as in dai ichi - more than 8 hours probably)? How about if at 86db, you are typically listening to a 4watt or 8 watt power (rms and continuous hours)? Did somebody measured the condition? .. am just asking. If at short sweep, it can reach 25 ohms how much can it reach when heated? don't ask me  ;D  ;D

Just kidding.. I also have a 9.5 towers... pang surround ko dati sa bedroom and now ginawang fronts dahil pi null out o yung JBL foor standers for an audio set up.

In fairness, ok naman yung tunong nung 9.5 slim towers eh. I'm wondering if i can still tweal it by changing the crossover network....hmmmmm

Among all of the floorstanding speakers posted on the first page, which one is the best for purely audio listening? And how much are these speakers? Thanks!

Mga bro OT lang,  Regarding john of dai ichi mega.  Medyo k_ _ _l  nga mag sasagot yang john na yan.  I purchased a t-amp at dai-ichi megamall,   after a day my t-amp went out of order.  And i returned my t-amp to that F_ _ _ing john.  At sabi nya papalitan daw nya as a replacement unit habang ginagawa ang t-amp ko. after two long weeks of follow up regarding  my t-amp, ang sabi nya pinadala na daw sa states ang unit for repair.  Umabot na ng 1month wala pa din.  What i did is i emailed the sonic frontiers and report what happened on my t-amp, and even the serial number of  the unit i gave it to the company. and the company rplied that they did not received the unit.

IT WAS A WASTE OF TIME!!!!!!!!!!!

Sir, dami sinabi no John eh. ...rubber ... ngongo ... impedance

Yung rubber ... medyo iniisip ko pa ... bakit ???

I guess nakita siya ng bukas na center channel na speaker na may rubber na covering that is used to cover the metal or cancellation magnet installed at the back of the driver  "ah rubber lang pala eh"

Yung ngongo, medyo tama siya - pag woofer nga lang yung center mo, ngongo talaga yon. Pag mid-woofer, baka medyo ngongo na lang.  ;D  ;D .

Actually its sometimes fun to ask questions to salesman who has no idea of what he is talking about, but I really get pissed if the salesman is arrogante

Just like Sir AV said, I think almost all, if not all, Daiichi speakers are matitino. They're not the greatest but for the price that you can get these pups for, they're definitely worth more than you paid for.

I've heard that Sir Anthony of A Audio does tweaks. Am not sure but I've heard of some 9.5s that have tweaked crossovers that have improved bass response, which we all know is the very weakness it has.  ;D

If I recall correctly, 5k/pair for the biggest towers (Euros 8 ) in Megamall. The PL sounded nice nga w/ AMX tubes.

My vote goes to the Euros 8.  ;D But I still love the Daiichi Classique tower series. I already have the CT-503, my good friend has the CT-613, I recently acquired the CT-813 and all these babies are just great performers. Well, I don't think I could call the 813 a baby since it's a bit large. I've tested my 813 on different amps and it even makes a Sakura sound good. It was great with a Pioneer amp though. I plan to get another pair soon.  ;D

syempre magkakaroon muna ng Euros 9, then Euros 10, 11, and finally Euros 12 bro! ayan mag audition ako ulit sa dai-ichi pag labas niyan.  8)

I've heard the Euros 8 and for the price (~5.3K) it's unbeatable talaga, and I'm hoping madami pa models ng Euros ang dumating...
