Bagay sa polk yun onkyo for me. Ganda din yan model ng Onkyo na yan. Daming inputs. Very versatile. Lakas din ng amp. Bookshelf speakers would be fine but i would recommend floorstanding speakers. You can also look into Klipsch and monitor audio. Better set your budget first, then audition the speakers that would fit your budget.  ;)

hi experts. I have a question. Im planning to buy a HT. My budget is 30k-40k max.
70% music 30 percent gaming(ps3 slim)/movies.
Here are my questions.
1.) How is the quality of Onkyo HT-S5405(30k)?  for music? has anyone auditioned the HT-S5405? how is it for music use?

2.) Is it better for me to get an onkyo 509 and polk tsi300 then after a year maybe buy additional speakers? or onkyo 509 and polk ti100 plus cs10.

3.) If i choose to buy the HT-S5405. Can I upgrade the speakers to like polk tsi300 in the future? will the a/v receiver power the speaker well? my worry is the receiver of the HT-S5405 is much inferior compared to 509. I am not that good in comparing the features/capabilities of the receivers because i dont understand them that well. :)

Thanks :)

VSX-520-K supports HD Audio and is a relatively newer model.

hi everyone! i'm setting up a simple pipe in music for my tiny house. i presently have 2- way 8" 70 watts 8 ohms ceiling speakers which i plan to install in 4 different areas. 2 in the dining area, 2 in the sala area, 2 in the patio area and 2 in our walk-in dressing/bathroom area.

What type of amp should i get and value for money brand and model?
requirements will be as follows:
-to power patio area speakers alone, to power dining and sala areas, and to power bathroom area alone
-to have output for ipods, iphone, and mp3 players
-to have cd player and tuner.

would appreciate any inputs. thanks in advance. :)

You need an amplifier for every pair. May mga vintage amplifier na may speaker A & B output if you like. Or a preamp, and power amps for each pair. Best if you could post your budget so that others can give better opinions.

I suggest using a multi-room amplifier. These are amplifiers with multiple channels, so that you can tailor the gain for each room.

How much money are you willing to part with?

Incognito ang solution ng Cambridge Audio. Medyo mas magastos siya dahil individual units at control modules.

Maraming mas affordable na decent multi-room amplifiers. Madalas intended for use by pro installers.

That's a bit tight, unless you're okay with running the same volume for all your rooms.

Your likely options would either be...

2 (or more) channel amp coupled with passive volume controls like this:

OR

run a multichannel amp:

Sa tingin ko mas praktikal kung kuha ka ng 1 modern pre-amp (or avr na decent but not too expensive, but be sure that it has preouts, pre-owned will do), then get 2 vintage amps with 2 speaker systems. In that way you will get the inputs that you need (ipod, usb, cd etc..) and then able to utilize those 4 sets of speakers.

Hello,
I am a newbie.  I am looking for a decent audio-video receiver with a complete speaker system (including sub). My room is 15 square meters and my budget is around 30-40K to set-up my entertainment system.
What in my mind initially are...
> Yamaha VX-371 or VX-471 and mordaunt short speaker pkg combination.
> Onkyo TX-NR414 and wharfdale speaker system combination
Really appreciate any inputs that would fit to my 30-40K budget which can still be a good entertainment package (audio & video) in my 15 sq.mtr room.
Rgds,
Eric

1. ok pa rin ba ang magiging tunog pag nakikinig ng music lang, considering the fact that the 3 speakers are connected to a 5.1 channel system?

2. sa mga new model ng AVR ngayon, meron bang  feature na pwede i-bypass yung ibang speakers, like the center and sorrounds para ma-utilize ang fronts and sub speaker during movie watching or when listening to music?

3. alin ba sa yamaha o onkyo ang mas maganda para sa polk speakers?

i hope you can help me mga sir.  :) thank you.

^^

1. Yes the receiver will work but IMO, a stereo integrated amp is still better than a receiver if both are to be used purely for music.

2. When you calibrate your speakers the receiver will detect that you only have a 2.1 set up so no need to bypass.  Also, when you play just music, your source(e.g bluray player or cd player) will already let your receiver know that its playing a music cd so if set at auto detect, only the fronts and sub will work.  More often than not, there are different sound settings available for you to choose from while listening(e.g. Stereo, direct, pure direct, extended stereo etc...).  It would be up to you on which setting suits your taste.

3. Both brands suit polk speakers.  It would be best to audition them with your speakers.

Hope this helps.

A receiver with no preout? Pasensya na sir i havent encountered such a receiver, baka po yung resident experts dito alam yan.  Sub pre outs are for powered subs, meaning they are active and have their own amp built inside them.

pasensya na sir Timithekid medyo magulo yung naging tanong ko before, to be specific yung sa onkyo 509 meron subwoofer connection na may nakasulat na 'pre out' , while yung sa yamaha 473 ay meron subwoofer connection pero 'walang' nakasulat na pre out. does it mean na hindi ko pwede mag-connect ng powered sub sa yamaha 473?
