@scifi-fan

thank you so much for the reply,
well i have considered an HTiB kind of system before but however,
im kind of set on getting seperates(2.0,2.1) as i am planning on moving to
my own flat in the near future, and also im looking into getting my
first entry drug to this hobby, im kind of the person that likes to customize
things to my liking, and i think HTiB's (correct me if im wrong) will limit the
amount of customization i can do. thats why im hesitant on getting HTiB's.
I can also opt to put my future system in the living room which is about 40 sqm
however, im just not a "living room" kind of person.. =)

the ps3 is a great idea and i am actually planning on getting one, thats why my budget is limited.

whats a soundbar? hehe sorry, im really new at this.

i don't know if this has been discussed before so please pardon me  ;D

I recently got a floorstander and receiver. Of course I want to complete my 5.1 setup. I know surrounds can come later but between sub and center speaker, which one should I get first?

Fronts: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6
Receiver: Denon 1911

Thanks in advance!

Since your towers can handle lows for the meantime, I'd go with a center first.

The center image quicky shifts as you move off-center, if you're using just the left and right speakers.

Question, how do you position SR speakers? Like say for example i plan on getting wharfedale's 10SR.
At te sides(of your ears)? Or at your baCk?

i think this diagram is the most ideal for 5.1 speaker placement, but if speaker stands can't be deployed for the proper angle.

this configuration is also acceptable, and as you can see, it is place on the side wall.

for 7.1 configuration, the back would now be utilized for full envelopment of sound.

Di ko pa narinig together, but I think they'd match well. Just make sure that you get a Yamaha that can provide enough juice for these lovely speakers (especially for bigger rooms). :)

RX-V2065 or higher should be able to power these well. :)

Those are good speakers, but a sub would still handle low frequencies better. It's best to get a sub with your planned system.

Good Morning Sir/s, hope you find the time to entertain this noob here :).

I would just like to know your inputs/advice as I am considering to purchase/use an Altec Lansing VS4121 or Altec Octane7 for a basic 2.1 speaker set-up to go with my pioneer dvd player-LG Plasma set-up.

I understand that originally these are PC/Laptop/MP speakers by nature but I'm currently on a budget and considering I only plan to put them in a  small-medium sized room, I figure I won't need anything too powerful naman to fill it up with sound while watching movies.

I also know of Altec's MX and Expressionist lines which could have been more suitable for my intended use but sadly stocks here are very hard to come by plus they cost twice as much than the VS and Octane7 series. Has anyone tried using their VS or Octane7s with their DVD Players? Will there be any negative effects on the dvd-tv set-up in the long run?  ???

Currently, I tried plugging my Creative 2.1 desktop speakers/Sub to my dvd player (via 3.5-RCA conversion cables) while my dvd's hdmi is plugged to the tv. Tried running tokyo drift's race scenes and no problems so far.

Would the experts advice against this kind of set-up? ??? What are the cons of this set-up po?
Hoping to get your inputs and suggestions mga Sir/s before I go out and purchase the VS or Octane7s. ;D

Thanks in advance. ;D

TIA.

Tumitingin na din ako sa mga previous post pero nalulunod ako sa mga brand and models. Hehe! Newbie pa talaga sa Home Theater. TY.

Hello guys, im new here and to this hobby. I hope you could help me with my first setup on a home theater system. Total budget ko is 60k, hehe! Medyo starting pa lang kasi sa work.

So here's my self-researched setup:
HDTV: Samsung 40c530
Receiver: Pioneer VSX920k
Speaker system: Jamo a102hcs 5 (http://www.jamo.com/eu-en/products/a-102-hcs-5-description/)

Entry level setup lang talaga balak ko since maliit lang budget ko  :). Actually the first setup i had in mind for the sound system was a Denon HTIB DHT391XP or the Onkyo hts3300. Kaso may feedbacks ako nabasa na may problems sa hts3300 like overheating and sound drops. Sa Denon 391 naman, i read that the surround is not that good although the receiver will perform well.

Any comment and suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance pinoydvd =)

Hi sir, I'm not an expert here, but I am using the jamo speaker sub setup. I currently have it connected to an HK245.so far I really like its combination. Its been years na, since we have a really small room, its serving its purpose really well. You might want to audition these speakers with the receiver you're planning to get para you can decide from what you hear. Goodluck! :)

@ r_Y_@_n

Thank you for the input sir. I had them auditioned yesterday and it sounds good to me. Although i still need to test the jamo with other receiver. Hopefully the jamo a102hcs will still be available after some months. Ipon mode na rin muna =)

Aside from the Jamo a102hcs, you can also try to audition the Yamaha 285 5.1 speaker set for comparison. The set is around Php9k I think with option for 0% interest installment.

For me:
Power - TX-NR509
Features - VSX-920-K
Refinement - RX-V567

Kung 5.1 setup lang naman and kung medyo malakas ka magpatugtog, baka pinaka sulit yung TX-NR509. Mas beefy kasi yung amp section nya kesa sa other AVRs sa list.

budget sir? pero much better mag-audition ka muna ng speakers so you'll know what your listening preference is.

Aside from iPod/iPhone features, may MCACC siya and binding post yung lahat ng 5 pairs of speaker terminals.

I agree with Sientobente, pakinggan mo na lang to see which speakers ang gusto ng pandinig mo. Bring your AVR with you para maikabit mo sila together.
