Topic: Suggestion for AV Receiver and Speakers

thanks guys for the replies my MAX budget is at least 15-20k.  I'm thinking of getting bookshelf type speakers rather than floor standers because of the space ... ok lang kaya yun?  If I get the bookself type and don;t install subs .. k lang naman yung movie / games experience right?

What I plan to get is the ff: 

1 diamond 9cs
1 pair diamond 9.1
1 pair diamond WH-3
1 Us Audio 508  < -- if I plan to get a SUB.  Prob lang is baka madistorbo yung neighbors hehehe.



I will be putting them in my living room area - - 4.8 meters length from COUCH to TV ...  medyo malayo k na kaya yung sounds.  I plan to maximize the receiver (yamaha 663) but not makinng it too loud naman for the neighbors.     

i suggest getting a sub especially since you're planning to use bookshelves.  you won't get enough rumble with bookshelves.  you won't be able to get the full movie experience. you can get the 9cs, 9.1, dfs and sw150 for only 23.4k. just a little over budget but for sure you'll get the movie and gaming experience you want.

Question is, what speakers will pair well with this? they say wharfs goes well with yammies, but with my budget of 20k ( avr and 1 pair of speakers), i think 9.1 (5.5k)lang ang swak sa budget ko.  aside from wharf 9.1, kahit mahal ng konti baka magawan ko pa ng paraan.

Btw yung rating ng Yamaha, at 1kHz lang siya so when you translate that 100W @ 1kHz to full-bandwidth 20Hz-20kHz, mga around 70W siya in reality.

hi blued and simon, itll be in a small sala, yes i listen to loud music, pero it'll be primarily used for movies, i guess 70:30, movies: music ratio.

im really pressured to get this done/completed asap, hoildays are coming and kahit dvd player man lang wala ako kasi na let go ko na HTIB ko.

Kapag tumitingin ka ng receiver, look at the features and not the wattage ratings. Average users typically use no more than 10W of power. Check mo yung 363 463 563 kung ano yung mga features na kailangan mo. Kung basic lang talaga pwede na yung 363.

i never owned a 9 series so i cant compare i like the 8 series because of how it looks like to be honest ... btw im the one selling the 8.3 its currently reserved to gunblade ... i have a 8.4 also and i can say those are good speakers for its price.. antay antay ka lang it took me 2 months to complete my 8 sereis na set up

ako nuon isip ko kung mid end receiver gamitin ko or mag budget receiver ako..thinking of saving for other gears (like 2nd hand speakers..etc) and pang settle ng CC bills.  

i've decided to go with the budget AVR.  nung ma test ko..it seems tama yung decision na ginawa ko.saktong sakto lang yung loudness (feeling ko nga sobra pa).  if you're going to buy an expensive receiver and kung di mo rin ma maximize yung power ng amp mo kasi you can't go too loud due to sleeping kids and neighbors parang sayang naman naman yung amp.may potential yung amp pero you won't be able to bring it out.

i don't know baka sa umpisa lang ako satisfied.  sana naman nde.hehe..

kaya the best is to know kung hanggang san mo gagamitin yung amp.mag upgrade ka na lang kung makukulangan ka sa future.pag nakulangan ka..it means you're into this hobby na deeply.  so updgrades won't be an issue na kasi normal lang sa hobby na to yon (save and sell your gear na papalitan mo)

pero this is just me.so follow your heart.yan ang dapat manaig.

35 square meters? kaya yan. ang other alternative mo would be going for 8-ohm nominal impedance speakers na mataas ang sensitivity rating (i.e. Klipsch)

when a speaker has a high sensitivity rating, it gets louder with less power.

its ok.=) someone in our FS section's selling his 8.4 at 6.5k, medyo mataas pa ang price. pwede na siguro mag 8 series. mag audition ako mamaya sa s&s, inclined to get the yammy.=)

i agree with blued.speaker stands are expensive rin..install mo pa.go for floorstanders na kung mag total din for bookshelf+stands.me, i opted to go for bookshelf type.9.1 to be specific (c/o oreoshake) due to space constraints and it will be to a shelf talaga.so i took it literally.
