Tama si [L]es,  ako I have an rx-v430 paired with
A-Audio floorstanders and maganda ang combination. :D

Bago ba ang speakers mo? Try mo muna i-break-in.  Gaganda rin yung tunog niyan after mga 100 hrs of listening.

Recomended speaker for Pioneer
« Reply #126 on: Aug 27, 2003 at 10:33 PM »
Hey guys I have a Pioneer Stereo Double Deck Cassette Desk Ampliflier DC-Z75 with a Pioneer 3 Way Speaker System S-Z85D max power 75W & impedance 6.  The problems is I'm not satisfied with the sounds, kulang sa bass its sounds like a mini Stereo. What would you recommend?  Do I have to buy a bigger Speaker?  I wanted kasi to sound it heavy and clarity.

tnx

which speaker setup is better.....
« Reply #127 on: Sep 29, 2003 at 02:23 PM »
i went to an audio shop last week and looking for a HT setup and they recommend me this for an entry-level and budget wise setup.

Receiver : Yamaha RXV440 - P16,000 or Denon AVR1603 - P16,000

Speaker set A : Front - Diamond 8.3 (100w)P7,500
                Center & Surround - WH2 (2x100w 1x120w) P3,800
                Subwoofer - DQ12 (300w) P6,000

Speaker set B : JBL SCS 178     5x100w 1x150w down firing P21,000

Q1 : if i'm into 70% movie and 30% sound. which receiver?
Q2 : Speaker set A or B?

recommendations will be appreciated....

I'll choose the Yamaha 440 and speaker set A.

If you can change the WH-2 center to Diamond 8C center speaker, a lot better.

Or add Diamond 8C center speaker, then use the WH-2 center for your surround back.

If I have that Option above, I'll get the yamaha 440 with diamond 8.3 as fronts, diamond center and 8.1 as surrounds.

Q1 : if i'm into 70% movie and 30% sound. which receiver?
Q2 : Speaker set A or B?

recommendations will be appreciated....

for me:

denon- more clean sounding
yammy- more soundstage

wharf- good but kinda muddy(lack of break-in)
jbl - good also but irritating hi-freq

so conclution: get the denon paired wharfs and jbl sub
7.2.4 system
Focal
Marantz
Epson
SVS
Elitescreen
Velodyne
Xbox1S
Nvidia
Berkline
Logitech
QED

I just audition Wharfs Diamond and Zaldek at Sound Dimention, their speakers where setup outside their store, I found diamond's lacks in bass but very good in highs and mids a lot of breaking-in should be done, the zaldek really rocks the house like a boom box but I can't seem to hear it's mids, I said to the saleperson "parang wala akong marinig na mids puro bass" sabi nya sa acoustics lang ng place kasi they were set-up outside,

I been to Spectra before I bought my Yammy, I'm eyeing for their HK sana, but there's no tech person there to talk to, as to the specification of HKs I can't seem to find the model over the internet, and I intend to audition sana their HK, as to no avail, sabi nila baka afternoon pa papasok yung may-alam sa mga receivers, I seen some tube-amps setup their pero nde ko na-audition. Pardon me Ops medyo OT to.

I'll be heading there by Sunday, I guess I'll try to audition Mission, Mordaunt, Monitor Audio and B&Ws as you guys suggested.

Kasi iba-iba yung characteristics ng speaker, there mabye good in highs but lack on either mids or bass or in the otherway around. IMHO, Wala pa rin talagang perfect na speaker, it's a matter of preference na lang talaga.

Thanks guys,
-LtCool-

Personally, matching amplifiers/receivers with entry-to-mid-priced speakers is not really an issue for me.  It is more a matter of matching them with your listening preference.  If you like punchy bass, get one that gives that quality.  If you want detailed highs and mids, get one with that quality.  Some speakers have one quality in abundance over another.  If a low-mid priced speaker has all, the qualities are most likely compromised severely.

In general, speakers of various brands have a sound signature or timbre.  They are a product of many compromises in design versus production cost and their intended market. Commercial speakers made affordable to the public have a lot of these compromises.  They exhibit different on and off axis radiation, enclosure diffration, cabinet material resonances, crossover peaking and other limitations that color the accoustic waveforms reaching your ears.  The are brought forth by design compromises, deliberately.  Such compromises take into account differing listener preferences such as detailed highs, laid-back mids, deep bass, etc.  No single speaker in these price range have all these attributes in abumdance.

Having said that, you may be interested to look for the more expensive speakers that are designed with little or no compromises,  They are your more accurate speakers - where the input electrical signal is identical to the output accoustical waveform as measured in an anechoic chamber.  No coloration.  No timbre.  They range in price starting from US$5,000/pair upwards.  But then again, not all speakers in that price range are accurate.  Some have the most coloured sounds that were designed to be very pleasant to the ears even at high SPLs.

Just my 2 cents.
