No problem with inputs, since the TV will take any standard input and internally upscale it to 8K before displaying the signal on the panel.
There will always be a buyer for ultra-expensive gadgets, even if none of them can beat an F8500 plasma or EC9300 OLED in picture quality. The real problem is, how many will buy it. Kaya nga until now, wala pa ring production model, puro prototype lang. This is really a statement piece by LG --- it's supposed to be a statement that LG is now the world's best TV manufacturer. Selling the 8K is not the real objective, but they hope that if the public is sufficiently impressed, they'll be buying more of LG's other TV models.
Pero hindi naman bago ang 8K. 2007 pa lang, may UHDTV standard na ang SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers) --- UHDTV1 (3840×2160 or 4K UHDTV) and UHDTV2 (7680x4320 or 8K UHDTV).
August 2012 pa lang, may 8K prototype plasma na ang Panasonic, which I posted on this thread:
Panasonic Goes UHDTV With 145″ 8K Plasma & 20-Inch 4K LCD TVs

Although Panasonic’s press conference at the IFA 2012 consumer electronics trade show in Berlin this afternoon was largely dominated by ecological and smart living themes, the company hasn’t neglected its visual display products which have almost always impressed us here at HDTVTest (plasma-wise anyway). The Japanese TV manufacturer took this opportunity to reveal its vision of future display technologies, which unsurprisingly includes the latest fad in town – UHDTV or ultra high-definition television.

IFA 2012 pa lang yan, 145" 8K na. This year at IFA 2014, lumiit pa nga, 98" na lang ang 8K, and they still manage to make it sound like this is only the first year that an 8K prototype has ever been displayed.
