funny my next upgrade are locking banana plugs so the connections dont get loose when touched.

Usually, when you upgrade your connections to plugs, that usually means madalas kang magpalit ng amp or speakers. And that would mean, either you have a lot of new gears, and/or madami kang home audition. 

I know your preference, i think you'd prefer the 840a over the newer version.  If i'm not mistaken, it's being sold at P35t.

AVRs from HiFi brands age quite beautifully, imo. Think of them as multi-channel audio-oriented amps with some basic video handling.

The 640R/650R gets close to the output capacity of a popular multi-channel power amp that's rated twice as much, and does this while delivering a far lower noise floor (19dBA+ better) despite having the signal pass through the built-in preamp. The 751R should do even better.

haven't been able to fire up my speakers with my CA550a. hirap ng may baby sa room. but i've been enjoying using it to power my cheap Audio Technica SJ11 headphones and kahit dun lumalabas ang ganda at quality ng CA integrated amps that i fell in love with. i just love the details that the CA550 juice out of every track i play whether hi resolution or even 320kbps mp3 files. ibang iba ang tunog when i plug my headphones directly to the musiland soundcard. now i'm shortlisting monitor headphones for home use. any of you guys experienced in using CA amps as headphone amp? baka lang may marecommend kayo na headphones. i'm looking into the big bulky ones to be used strictly for home setup

We have the same integrated amp (550A) and like you, I'm quite happy with the SQ.  I'm presently using a TDK WR700 wireless headphones.  For wired setup, I ordered myself an Audio Technica ATH-M50 from the US (still in transit though)

how's the TDK WR700 on the CA550? i tried it with my ipod but didn't really like the sound and settled for the ATH SJ11. now i am allocating 10-15k budget for headphones and have the ATH M50 along with AKG K550 and a few more shortlisted. most of my candidates can be found in Egghead where they can also be auditioned side by side. i just hope i can audition those cans with my CA550 amp if they allow me to bring it in

Those are nice headphone choices. I'm currently using a lowend akg 512 with my 550a and I'm happy with the results. Now I'm looking at harder to drive headphones from egghead but on a lower pricepoint(sub 10k level). Problem lang, baka walang place or even space to setup an amp to test in the store.

I'm not an audiophile.  Happy naman ako with the sound coming from the WR700.  Compared with the ATH M50, I prefer the sound of the M50.  But nothing beats the convenience of wireless, especially with the TDK's KLEER technology (no hiss or static).  Well, kanya-kanyang taste naman.  Better nga if you could test it yourself with your amp.  I'm sure with your budget, you could get something better.

don't get me wrong brother, i kinda liked the wireless capability of the TDK set, sound was ok but IMO not good enough to warrant the price of the unit. i felt i will be paying more for the technology rather than the SQ. i'm actually waiting for TDK to release an updated model with hopefully better sound. i haven't tried them with our amp though so it might be possible that the CA550 might "liven up the sound" to my liking.

Take it to any 5th Avenue or Avesco branch. They should be able to handle it from there.

Cambridge Audio has always voiced their entry level products warmer than their higher models, supposedly to allow for easy matching (and to compensate for the rougher highs of entry level speakers).

I suggest comparing it with the 651A. The extra 10k may be money well spent.

Digital out lang ang iD100, so kailangan pa din nung DAC (DACMagic Plus in this case). Yes, compatible siya sa iPod Classic. You can add these components later on, focus on a good amp and speakers muna. For the meantime pwede mo muna siguro gamitin yung MP3 input jack nung 651A.

Aside from Tannoy Revolution DC4, listen to the Mordaunt Short Mezzo 2 din. Similar price point pero different presentation.
