@simonzaide

Yes, it plays our jack sparrow blu-ray r****d dvds.  Loading time is tad slower when using scratched discs.

thanks sir :)

Results so far upon testing the XDE. (this is my own personal opinion :) )

PQ
Compared to Samsung HD841, the PQ is sharp, vibrant as compared.  At 1080i more details can be seen specially in "sharp" mode. I used a John Meyer concert DVD.  I know very well that this is subjective to whoever is viewing it.

I will try to shoot some images of a certain scenes for you guys to see the comparison.

I dont know yet about the oppo because I have not seen how good the PQ is.  (Considering that mountain view -oppo office is just less than 30 miles from my place  ;D)

You cannot compare the XDE with Blu-ray. But if you are going to compare it to any existing DVD upconverting player, i think XDE will stand out.

Latest technology is better and the XDE is the latest.

Yes, just got my Toshiba XD-E500 last night. Gwapo, very light. Brought in by my kumpadre ARRIGO from Toronto, Canada. Nabili sa Best Buy for Can$99.99 + 13.00 taxes = Can$112.99 landed cost.

Binili din nya ko ng BELKIN HDMI cable 1.3 version, 1.8m for Can$16.94

PQ and AQ both excellent.

It doesn't work well on p******dvd. Nag mo mosaik siya. Buy orig. Panalo!

Fast Forward niya hanggang 100X. Pag 4:3 aspect ratio, pwede mo siya stretch to 16:9 by simply pressing
FILL IN or PAN n SCAN sa set up under video.

Mayron din siyang DIGITAL & COAXIAL OUTPUT. Siempre kasama din COMPONENT VIDEO & S-VIDEO output.

Na unlocked ko rin region coding. Tnx to Redram.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL PDVD MEMBERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats sir.  i guess you had already set it to multi-region.

About the *******dvd, i guess what you have are "not so good" copies.  There are lot of things that you need to check and consider when buying such.  Anyway, to delicate to discuss here.  ;D

So far, they work well with my unit. Great PQ and Sound!

Nice having you around mika888.  You got a winner there in your XD-E500.  Beat my Oppo 983 on detail retrieval though I thought the Oppo had a more natural lighting - with the XD, my plasma rendered a bit like an LCD, not necessarily a bad thing especially if you are an LCD fan. Bang for the buck, the XD-E500 wins. Congrats.

I was surprise to see the difference.  In regard to the color, a viewer may calibrate their display to their own specifications.  I guess toshiba really made the XDE the alternative.

Thanks bro....  :)

Ok guys here it is "the benchmark".
It has its positives and negatives. But the benchmark scored a 100- awesome.
The only other that scored a hundred is oppo 983.
Dudes 75 dollars for this. Imo, I think its a great buy if you will stay with dvd or have lots of dvd.

i got my toshiba today and i just noticed that kung naka on ang pic mode (sharp, color, contrast), hinde puede i-set ang hdmi to 720p...default nya is 1080...kaso, lcd ko max res is only 720p..mga sirs, what do you recommend - i-off ko na lang ang pic mode and set it to 720p or i-set to on ang pic mode na lang ( anyway, my lcd can display 1080p inputs...btw, lcd ko is samsung series 3

well i did tried it and so far ok lang naman visually...btw, sir, if my unit outputs at 1080 and my lcd converts it to its native resolution, would that pose a danger to my lcd in the long run?

just tried it now and yup, indeed wala nga yun "last memory" feature unlike my OPPO 980...for me, tho, it doesnt matter that much..but you're right, its a minus

btw, OT muna - mga peeps and gurus, ive posted this query of mine sa display forum but wala pang reply till now, so, perhaps dito meron makasagot - kasi i do play my ps2 sometimes using yun light gun (time crisis games etc.)..kaso, walang effect sa lcd...is this because hinde sila compatible? playing it with my crt tv wala naman problema...

Anyone knows how much is this unit in Singapore? Kung meron sa Singapore, and kasing mura ng price sa US, then I may opt to buy from there since I'll be there by next month.

All region naman to right? So kahit saang country bumili ok lang?
