nag umpisa na ang pag fire sa mga coaches ng losing squads. wawa talaga mga coaches pag ganyan kasi sila agad ang unang natatanggal sa pwesto. :P

madalas coach ang sinisisi, hindi ung mga players

yun nga eh. the coach is always the first one to go. the next coaches that i think should ask their agents for a contingency plan in case they get fired are: terry porter, vinny del negro, yung coach ng pistons (michael curry ba?).

NBa coaches are covered with contracts. If a team fires a coach, then they go thru the normal legal process - usually ending in an
out-of-court settlement. Take the case of current Bobcats coach, Larry Brown. He was fired by the Pistons with still 3 years
& $21M remaining. Then he had a stint with the Knicks and got fired with still 4 years & $40M remaining.

He settled with the Pistons for $7M and $18.5M with the Knicks. $25M+ without even lifting a finger.
I guess his agent and lawyer are luckier.. :D

with larry brown, he is milking the franchises that are willing to get milked pa. kasi in terms of winning i think wala na siyang drive dun kasi he has won a title in all major tourneys sa US and the fact na he is old na rin kaya ayaw na rin ng masyadong stress :)

no lead is safe talaga. dapat they pounded the pacers til lets say mga 3 mins to go para sure win na. pero ang ginawa kasi nila eh start of the 4th period eh puro mga 2nd stringers na ang nasa loob. so nung medyo nag run na ang pacers eh they had momentum na and nung binalik ang starters eh hindi na makaya. kaya ayun, lesson learned sa kanila. they learned it the hard way (losing by 1 point, on a tip-in).

In a way, it's a "good" loss for the Lakers.  It's "good' that it came this early in the season.  It's also a loss that they should learn from and build on, especially with a couple of road games lined up.

But still...  >:( >:( >:(

We deserve better.

Another NBA coach was fired. Sam Mitchell of the Toronto papers got his walking papers.
He was the 2007 Coach of the Year Awardee. Goes to show that getting that award doesn't give any job security.

The bigger question will be - who will be next in the firing line?

Same thing with Indiana.....the Laker 2nd unit  were buried with numerous errors.    When the first unit came back...the Wizards are already riding on a big momentum.

GM & Coach? Clear sign of American recession... So, McHale is now following the same footsteps of Isiah Thomas.

He stepped down as GM.  His former assistant GMs took over.   He did became a coach of the T-Wolves before, on an interim basis, going 19-12, in the final 31 games of the 2004-05 season, after Flip Saunders was fired.

Wow! Did anyone catch that video of Glen "Big Baby" Davis after KG pulled him over to a huddle and maybe said something spicy to him and the rest of the bench? He was almost fighting back tears as he was sitting on the bench and bitchin' about that incident.

oo nga eh. what happened ba dun? palipat lipat kasi ako ng channel nung time na yan, tapos later on eh mention na lang ng commentators na may nangyari nga sa huddle.

as the season progresses, the Lakers are getting worse.. they're playing sloppy and playing defense with their hands.. kobe's back to his old self.. just throwing shots here and there.. if they want to take the championship away from Boston, they better get their act together.. other teams are starting to get back their rhythm.. the Spurs are back and Cleveland has won 9 straight.. they are down 17 right now in Sacramento.. they lost 1 against the Pacers and allowed Washington to come back after being down by 20.. that's 3 ugly games against teams with losing records..

I'm not convinced that a trade is the key here. They've got the necessary players already (I pray all of them stay healthy). It's all a matter of being consistent now, especially during the second half when the LAkers usually have a lead and they seem to cruise and let other teams catch up to them.

Tough loss by the Lakers to the Kings.  This is the reason why LA is not really ready yet to contend for the title.  They need to consistently play defense and not outscore opponents.

^ Agree.  They shouldn't have off-nights on defense.

A couple of trades reported today:

1.  Phoenix gets J-Rich from Charlotte, in exchange for Boris Diaw and Raja Bell.

2.  Washington gets Mike James from New Orleans and Crittenton from the Grizzlies.  New Orleans gets Antonio Daniels from Washington.  Memphis gets a first round pick.

Phoenix will be shorthanded when they visit the Lakers today.  Read that Shaq also won't be able to play for personal reasons (death of his grandma).

This latest update seems to point out that Suns GM Steve Kerr is bailing Porter out (from being fired).
Sending Raja out for J-Rich somehow deviates from their defensive mindset direction...
they want more scoring... again ???

Well, Kerr is an Academic All-American. There must be some wisdom in this move... I hope. :D

Yan ang problem when you're one of the elite teams, hehehe....laki ng expectations.

The good part despite the loss:

They are 17-3 and are 3 games ahead of the nearest pursuer in the west.  Im not worried that they will lose contender status.  Very very far from it.

The bad part:

Their vaunted bench mob has been playing pretty awful the last few games.   Too much one on one plays and bricks.   And oh, Kobe has been shooting badly.   Lots of jumpers, less driving plays.    The first time I felt that kobe is slipping....   :-\

Their defense is in transition.   The strong side trap that they used from season's start was effective when teams didnt know what to do about it.    Their D was effective early on, but teams have studied it now, and its weakness have been exposed.   Teams that can rotate the ball well from strong to weakside capitalizes with open jumpers and easy lay-ups.

Overall, Im not yet worried..PhilJax will keep them motivated enough for the regular season......I'll be pretty worried though if they go .500 in their next 4-6 games.
