Where did you get this 20% cash discount?  Does the 20% discount still come with the freebies?  Where can we avail of this offer?  Thanks.

b. it comes with freebies.
c. see "a"

Thanks, I knew you could haggle with appliance stores but I wasn't aware that they were going to give discounts of up to 20%.

20% is usually the threshold point.. anything higher than that requires more effort.

20% is usually the threshold point.. anything higher than that requires more effort.

and that is why we're trying to get more people to do a group buy.

NOTE that allen and i just met yesterday and only knew each other in this forum. Also, we are not affilliated with any store! we are consumers just like most people here (i would think). we will buy from the store that gives us the best package (i.e. best price, warranty, service, freebies, etc.) we could find. so if anyone of you are connected to any store, feel free to post in this thread or PM us your best package.

lastly, we are not making money from this! our efforts are so we can save some of our hard-earned money by getting a discount from this group buy. if none can be had, we'll buy separately on our own.

Actually, if you could give us a discount of 20% or more, we really wouldn't mind if you are making any money.  Anything that would help us get a discount is would be considered a service.

true, but personally i wouldnt want to be in that position.. since that means i'd have to provide some degree of service and support.. which for me is a waste of my time.

i just want to get my lcd at the darn cheapest price. :)

you wanna join the group buy?

assuming the we find a store that offers good prices for the samsung and they also offer lg products, would you like to join in?
Title: Re: SAMSUNG LCD GROUP BUY!!
Post by: dips15 on Feb 26, 2007 at 04:14 PM
Sure, if the price is right, why not.  Im still not decided on what brand/size to buy.  But if you have a supplier that would give us 20% off on Samsung products and still include the freebies, Im game for that.  I can also probably get my in-laws to buy a set or two to go with the group.
Title: Re: SAMSUNG LCD GROUP BUY!!

hi guys,

me, stained and a couple of others will be planning a group buy of the 32n71 this week or maybe if if enouhg ppl request for it.

current price of 32 n71 = 109,990
this includes either a 29 inch tv worth 30k(srp) or a nv3 digital camera worth 25k(srp)
and also a 2gb mp3 player worth 8k(srp).

with a 20% cash discount this comes at 88k. we hope to push this down even further with a group buy.
assuming you sell all the free tv and mp3 player at 50% value of sep .. (naturally you should sell higher than this) this comes out
at almost 69k!!!

if you  want to buy any other samung model and size, just check www.samsung.com.ph
then shave of 20% the srp price. im sure we can easily haggle for something even lower, during the group buy.

current list:
1. stained = confirmed 32n71 and will get ht-qx100 htib set also
2. allenwfc = confirmed 32n71 and deciding if i'll get the ht-q20 for resale
3. ryukai = waiting for confirmation.
4. posch = waiting for confirmation.

allenwfc,
pm'd staind01 and told him i'll be coming w/ you guys this weekend when you buy your lcd. if given a good price, i might just buy that day as well. i'm eyeing the v200a btw.

that's great news! we would have more leverage with more people/sets to buy.

but pls do some auditioning on your own because we wouldn't wanna force you into buying something that you wouldn't like or regret buying even if we get a great deal on it, right?

allen and i are pretty much set on the 32N71 (that is, unless an awesome deal on a plasma falls on our laps! ;) ). we both know some of its strengths and weaknesses.

poch,
if you check the S200 thread and call the shop that gives discounts on it, you'd find out that V200 goes for P79K with store warranty. allen and i even went there yesterday to confirm it. P78K daw pag group buy. that's the best they could offer.

allen has found a shop that sells it for P75K with Sony-Phils warranty! no freebies given by both stores. so this is your best bet. we're still haggling with this store to give us a very good price on the N71 bundle.

we'll keep u guys posted.

Will let you guys know.  Ill be going around mega and shang this pm to audition the sets.  Just wondering, have you guys already found a store from which you guys will do the haggling or are you guys going around different appliance stores looking for the best deals?

Bottomline, are we assured of getting at least a 20% discount?

first choice is savers hub, since they have a complete line up of brands and products.

fallback would be ambassador and automatic center, but they might not offer the sony 32v200 at 75k.

and yes the 20% is guranteed, it's only the better than 20% that i cant make any definitive gurantees.

hi allen,

pls update the orig post with the above info.

thanks!

done :)

also, i think there is the need to clarify on this stuff...

our basic plan, is to final haggle and buy on the spot, and then have them deliver the lcd to our homes at a later date (free delivery)

or is there anyone, who wants to be able to take home a lcd on the same day?(not avail of the free delivery for some reason)

also, we need to decide if we are buying on sun or sat....

i'm still in talks with them. they're still confirming Samsung Phils SRP on the N71. they have the old flyer daw e which says P119,900 whilst other stores have it at P109,900 SRP. once confirmed, they'll give us their best offer. fingers crossed.

we'll have to check everyone's sked for this weekend. majority rules.

pls also shop around. who knows, you might find a better price or you might be a better negotiator! :)

@poch pm sent :)

@staind we should push upon them the fact that we are now at 4 buyers with potential to reach 5-7 ( dips and family).
the cheaper the better... im not calm enough to haggle effectively... but i hope one of you guys can convince them to give us 25-30% discount.

this translates as 83k for 25% and 77k for 30 % ;D

bad news: star hub, seems to refuse to acknowledge that the current srp of 32n71 is 109k.. hell they are disregarding the 75k price they quoted(to stained)... i havent asked them personally though...

good news: i went to my fallback shop.. ambassador.. just called them up at a few mins ago... they are still commited to the well below 88k  for the 32n71 and i asked them about the 32inch v200a. they say they are willing to give it a shot to meet the 75k price, assuming there are enough of us buying(i told them we are 4 sure buy with possible 5) ^^

d@mn! utterly disappointed!! :( since they still have the old P119,900 SRP, best they could give it was for P95K with freebies. oh well, their lost not ours.

thanks for confirming with ambassador. i guess that's where we'll be buying!

c u guys on the weekend!

the 32r71 is at 90k so less 20% is 72k. hopefully we can get a lower price for that :)

I just came back from browsing.  Not much auditioning as I was kinda in a rush.  Anyway, went to Shang and Megamall and the stores there.  If anyone wants the 32v200a, I think its selling for 75k at Sights and Sounds with Sony Philippines warranty.  The 32s200 is selling for 65k.  I also went to the Ambassador branch in Shang.  It seems as if the discounting depends on which store you get it from.  I was initially quoted something similar to a 20% discount on the lowest 32 inch lcd model at 63xxx from 79900 walang freebies though.  When the owner/manager came around, she just offered me the r71 model at 5 thousand less but with more freebies at 0% for 12 months.  I tried asking for a cash price but she wouldnt give me one.  Plus hanggang Feb na lang daw.  Ill try calling our contact sa downtown branch nila.

Allenwfc, could you verify if your contact at Ambassador is still giving out the freebies with the 20% discount and the timetable for the availability of the offer?  I do have a feeling that Samsung will have a price drop soon considering that a lot of their counterparts have just done the same.

sir i went to ambassador greenhills vmall yesterday and talked to the owner, willing to give the samsung 32r71 at 69.5k for cash buyer without the freebies. hehe partida hindi ok ang haggling skills ko, goodluck everybody, hope ako din makakuha na next time. keep us posted!

The 32r71 at 69.5k is more than 20%.  Maybe we should double check that Allen's contact would still give us the freebies.

those are attractive prices already. halos kapareho na ng employee discount ng samsung.
since 2 days na lang, march na, better wait for a few more days.  dips is right, Samsung releases new sets of prices at the start of each month. bihira naman nagtataas ng price. ang aircon siguro, expected to go up, if not this month, baka next. pero sa tv, lalo na lcd, hope na lang na tayo na bumaba. at malaki ang ibaba. :)

mukhang marami na kayo, marami rin sigurong nag aabang sa buy n sell ng mga freebies niyo.  ;D
good luck sa inyo!  :)

Title: Re: SAMSUNG/SONY LCD GROUP BUY!!

They're offering certain models for discounts if you trade in any working tv 14" and upwards.  Im not sure about the particulars but for the 32wl66e, its less 15k so you can get it for around 54k 6 mos. 0% interest.  Cash buyers may ask for a bigger discount.

The amount of the discount varies.  Ill try to post the list when I get home later.

Just called Ambassador (downtown branch).  Their prices for freebies and straight cash are somewhat different.  About 20% off for cash without freebies and around 10k more for the freebies.

if this is the case then i'd be leaning towards the 32V200 more.

hopefully, we could get both the 20% discount AND the freebies for the N71.

i feel the need to re-iterate that the 20% discount i got included the freebies already...

also, on the freebies that they will be giving, it normally changes on every "even" month for samsung *march is an odd month*
though it isnt a hard and fixed rule for samsung... plus the camera freebie is recent feb. addition..while the tv's has been going for more than a year. so i dont expect any major changes... at most they will bring back the old cell phone freebies or whatever old stock or low selling model they need to get rid of.

also, even though shops say that the promo "ends" on so and so month... i've never seen a shop actually turn me down when I ask for the freebies of a older month (hell some shops still use the freebie list of oct. 2006)

as for the possible decrease of price in march.. i have doubts the n71 dropping in march.. it already moved in price twice in feb.. 139k-119k then from 119k to 109k... now the sonoma, bordeaux and f71 series have very good chances of changing prices since they're prices have been very stagnant recently...

i'm ok with moving the purchase to next week or another day.. just tell me guys what your decision is.

*secret* branch.. lets try not to pester them until we buy the lcd :)

we might scare away the offer... we already lost the star hub option.. and i dont have that many fallback shops left on my list :P

will you be brining or buying also for your in-laws if ever?

unfortunately ambassador only sells, sony, samsung and pionner tv's last i checked.

if any of you guys also, plan to get wharfedale speakers... they also have them..

guy's lets decide on a date and time then :)

choices are,
a. sat morning
b. sat afternoon
c. sun morning
d. sun afternoon

Ill be buying for myself, but if the offer is as good as it sounds, i may be able to advance their order first then ask for reimbursement later.

Dont worry, I wont be making more inquiries from ambassador.  I just called our existing contact in the other branch.

Thanks.

As for the time... cant sat morning since I have work.  Ill check if Im free in the afternoon.

If I cant get a common sched with you guys, ill just give you a call once you're there and save the price and maybe I can just pay for it later that day.

the bravia s200 in sg is only 48K, im not sure if there will be taxes still if it will brought home by an ofw...lets say i'll add another 7K so that makes the s200 at 55K... currently thats the price and quality im beating. Most bang for the buck.

i've seen the toshi that listening in style is offering in their trade-in promo and im not impress...wont put my hard earned money into it... im incline also with the samsung R71(72K inclusive of 20%) or S71(64K inclusive of 20%)...

ur pressuring me! :D

should i wait for the S200 from SG and settle for international warranty(2-3weeks waiting)? OR
do i avail of S71 or R71 with 20% discount and freebies with local warranty?

hmm...
pro and cons i see.. disregarding which brand is better arguments.

pro for local samsung:
a. guranteed local warranty
b. negligible wait time
c. no significant hassle during purchase.. aside from haggling(i foresee a lot of ppl pressuring the poor sales guy to cut prices haha)
d. 1 year 3 month warranty
e. selling of freebies brings it close to the sony price.. tied with the 32s

con:
a. higher initial cash outlay
b. lower potential resale value than sony
c. potentially lower warranty duration than an imported sony(maybe)

sony imported from sg.
a. base price is good(not sure on tax)
b. good resale value
c. same panel quality as samsung
d. 3 year warranty is always good (assuming sony phils honors it)

cons:
a. tax. we dunno how much they will charge for it
b. shipping cost!!
c. chance of breakage during shipping
d. if sony phils, doesnt honor warranty.. your screwed
e. wait time to recieve unit :P

*i suggest you confirm first if sony phils will honor the warranty from singapore and how many years it is.
also, do some research on the tax and shipping costs... if it turns out worthwile.. then buy the sony :)
if not.. well sama ka na sa amin :P

was in the same boat as you. was going to have a panny 43PX60U delivered from the US or an N71 from dubai but changed my mind when i kept thinking of the awful things that could happen during shipping and claiming the warranty. sure i'll get cheaper prices but the worrying ain't worth it.

at the end of the day, for a li'l more dough, i ended up deciding to buy locally especially with these prices! i'll have piece of mind knowing that if anything goes wrong, i can go to or call the store or the manufacturer to have it checked out.

but that's just me. :)

The person from Ambassador in downtown manila offered me the 32s200 at 92,990.  Supposedly it included freebies of around 48k in value.  If you care to sell these things after acquiring them, you might end up saving rather than buying from SG.  Then again, I dont know how easy it is to sell these freebies.

allenwfc you have a very objective reasoning there... thanx for the help... im trying my luck here would you know the number of sony philippines service center that i could call?

what would you recommend, stretch out to R71 or S71 is acceptable?

By the way take into consideration that SG has Government Sales Taxes of up to 15%.  Though I believe this can be refunded upon departure from Singapore.  But of course that may take time to refund.  (However, considering that the bureaucracy in SG is not as bad as it is here, maybe not that long.)  Btw, as mentioned earlier, 65k in Sights and Sounds with Sony Phils warranty.

if sony phils doesnt honor your warranty, shipping to and from sg for service will be costly, better ask first if they will, add the international call charges pa

imma save P10K if i buy an N71 in dubai but, to tell u the truth, i didn't think twas worth it. now if i'll save P20K, i'd have taken a gamble! :)

there are no panny 60Us here and my bro-in-law was willing to bring it in as check-in luggage. but when i think of them conveyor belts in the airports, i squirm!! :(

thanx guys i appreciate it...

is it true that the s200 is 65K at Sights and Sounds? it doesn't have freebies right?

im currently chatting withmy bro in sg and he wont make it in 2 weeks might come home by end of march.. and i dont think i could still wait for that... another point goes to group buy!

if ever i would go with you.. i could only stretch to R71 or S71... which is which?

if the N71 would get to 70K or 75K with freebies i might consider...

yes, 65k at sights and sounds, and also the ambassador store we are purchasing.

r71 and s71 differ on aesthetics and contrast... if you value these then get r71 if not get s71

i highly doubt the n71, would reach that value with freebies. thats well above a 30% discount...

A bit off topic to what you guys have been discussing but..
Have you guys checked the specifications of the N71 in Samsung's website. I find it funny that it says the N71 can't do Progressive Scan but the R71 can. Is this a typo or is this for real?

Also, to connect your laptop to your pc you would need a vga cable right. Do you think they have any at ambassador? I figured I'd get one as well. And wouldn't a vga cable just do video, how about audio?

thats an interesting point, im guessing its a typo... since its highly doubtful that they would downgrade a higher end model lcd.

the vga cables can be grabbed of any computer shop, plus i dont think they have vga cables.

you might have to use the composite in for audio.. or something else... not sure on this... but id like to suggest you get dedicated speakers instead. if available to the budget.

alternatively you can buy an hdmi video card for your desktop and hook it up directly from there :)

must be a typo.

yep, VGA for video to PC. then headphone out to your PC spkrs.

also, if i remember correctly, i think it has digital optical output going to your AMP/RECEIVER. lemme check the specs again.

are there any discounts for larger screens like 37/40/ 42 inch? i think samsung s71 is still expensive outside, at least 150k and the sony s200 is around 160k. medyo bitin pa kasi yung 32 inch eh.

Im really torn now as to what model to get.  I was eyeing the r71 but it seems that not everyone is thrilled about its PQ.  Is the difference really noticeable between the r71 and the n71 in terms of PQ.  Lets throw the Sony S200 and V200 into the picture.  Its really tiresome to audition them considering that the input they are using is supposedly fully digital hence the appearance of a very clear picture.

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

i personally have great difficulty telling the quality difference from 1 lcd panel from another and my orginal choice for purchase was the sonoma series. it was only because of the n71 price drop with discounts that changed my mind on my planned purchase...

hhmm..
one way to handle the situation is.. if your having a hard time telling the difference in picture quality between 1 lcd tv to another... without the opinions of others influencing your decision.. then that means you yourself cant see the diff. and there is no need to force yourself to find any.. it would be better to focus the aesthetics, features, budget, package, resale value and any other more tangible aspects :)

the samsung 40 inch s71 was actually offered to my by ansons at 130k cash (which is 20% off) plus i can still get the freebies. the thing i might have difficulty selling the 29 inch tv that comes with it.
if i sell it at 25k (conservative considering its retail price is 30k) then the tv comes out at around 125k. still quite steep since ambassador is offering the toshiba 42 inch at 95k only. yun nga lang, im not assured of the quality of service of toshiba but the picture quality seems okay to me. i havent compared it with the samsung s71 though.

at your budget and needs, get a 42 inch plasma.
i'm a bit biased towards the hitachi 9500ta @110-112k and 9800ta @ 120-132(depends greatly if your getting grey market model or not).
a good other alternative are the phillips, panasonic and pioneer plasma. the pioneer and panasonic are a bit pricey though.

if you got more budget get the 40 inch x series from sony or the 40 f71 from samsung. :)

if you, absolutely want more size and quality over other aspects, get yourself a 105 inch or more white screen and pair it wit the 1080p "optoma" projector (not sure if got brand right)

You might not be able to tell the difference now, but there's a possibility that you will be able to do so and notice some flaws after a few months of use.  And there's the rub --- how will you know unless you actually use it in your own living room for a few months?

We're lucky to be able to hear the opinions of our expert members before buying.  After all, it is quite a big expense.

true, but its only a possibility of seeing a difference.. since it would require you to use different lcd's in the same living room.. each with there own setting and lighting and enviroemnt.. blah... blah..
it hurts... :P

hearing opinions is always good :)
though in the end its the buyer himself who needs to make the final decision.

since we are growing slowly as a small group when we meet up on the weekend.

we could practically consider this a group buy EB!! haha

you guys ok with sunday afternoon "buy" schedule, but we meet up first for late lunch "eb".. to discuss haggling tactics.. group speaker.. etc. etc. :)

this is a good idea, this can grow into an active consumer rights activism that the country is really in dire need of, this is what made the open market of the US come into what it is today, members sharing information and letting the big businesses know that they cannot continue the way they do business.  if they can give a much lower price of the same tv to other countries why cant they do it here. ah yes of course the factories are there, but does shipping costs that much to price your tv 200-300% more? (just compare the prices here and the states, they dont have factories there too) and what about after sales support and warranty acknowledgement and duration?

anyway ot na, just couldnt resist ;)

im leaning towards getting an lcd than a plasma kasi. i know picture quality is better in plasma but lcd is not far behind. besides, it seems lcd is really the technology to go with nowadays. plus energy consumption is better with lcd.

power consumption is something to consider with our rates here in the phils, although plasma claim it doesnt consume a lot more than what lcd does, there is a difference yes, but if you view a lot of dark scenes more than bright ones (cartoons vs. suspense films), they may come out almost the same.

true, but since your buying "now".. at your price point the plasma is really the better buy in my opinion :)

was really gonna get the R71. i like its look better.

then i saw them side by side in the showroom playing the same source. the N71's picture was more vibrant. but this may have been due to the settings. the salesperson even controlled the XWCG(?) settings on the N71 and i was impressed with its tweakability. ;) but i wasn't sure if that alone is worth the extra dough.

with this deal though and the freebies included with the N71 (29" Slimfit CRT + MP3 player vs. 29" CRT), the price diff. wouldn't be that big. plus i'll get the supposedly better tv and the extra features (Wiselink, etc.). so i'm going for the N71.

but that's just me. :)

True... 88k for n71 the slim fit and the mp3 player plus the discount for the ht does seem like a good bargain compared to 72k for r71, 29 inch flat (not slim fit) and the discount.  Actually it may come out to be the same price.  Ill have to sleep over it.  Hehe.  Tough decisions to be made.

If we're able to sell the freebies for the n71 at 30k (25k + 5k - reduced price for sure sale) and the r71 at 15k,  the n71 will come out at roughly 58k and the r71 at roughly 57k.  I would agree, for the price difference, you should go for the n71.  Of course, you can sell it for SRP and the n71 will come out at roughly 50k and the r71 at 52k.

aren't there any price drops for samsung lcds? they usually change their promos beginning of the month.

Lets observe the prices until Saturday.  If ever, prices should adjust at most appliance stores by then.  If ever there is a price drop, we should negotiate for new prices before Sunday.

hi guys,

me, stained and a couple of others will be planning a group buy of samsung and sony lcd's this weekend or maybe next if everyone decide to wait 1 week.

samsung, freebies included:
32n71 = 88k, sell all the freebies @ 50% srp value  = 69k
32r71w = 80k, sell all the freebies @ 50% srp value  = 70k
32r71b = 72k, sell all the freebies @ 50% srp value  = 62k
32s71 = 64k, sell all the freebies @ 50% srp value  = 54k

if you  want to buy any other samung model and size, just check www.samsung.com.ph
then shave of 20% the srp price. im sure we can easily haggle for something even lower, during the group buy.

sony lcd:
32v200a is at 75k, my contact says he can go lower... but didnt give an exact value.
32s200a is 65k, same as above... but i'd suggest you get the 32v200a if wallet permis.

if you want any other sony model, im sure they can supply it.

current list:
1. stained = confirmed 32n71 and will get ht-qx100 htib set also - will pick up unit
2. allenwfc = confirmed 32n71 and tentative on ht-q20 - will have it delivered
3. ryuzaki = confirmed 32n71 and will get ht-q20 - will pick up unit
4. posch = confirmed sony 32v200a - no confimation if pick up or deliver
5. dips = confirmed will attend, pending on model - will have it delivered
6. push = confirmed but undecided on model - no confimation if pick up or deliver
7. Funky_Monkey = will attend only, no purchase

*note: htib requires additional cost

i'll be pickin up my unit... i live in sta.rosa and baka dumating sakin next year pa kapag pina-deliver:D

IF (big IF) there'd be price drops then we'll simply take out 20% off of the new SRP then negotiate from there.

NOTE that we'll be dropping by several stores to check and negotiate prices before going to our #1 store of choice with whatever prices we're offered with. shld this store not price match or do better then we walk away, it's their lost.

but with a group of on-the-spot buyers, i'd find it hard for them to not offer the best they could.

so... let's meet at 1PM on sunday. venue will be an electronics store like anson's, abenson's, etc. Allen will be our contact person and will decide which branch we'll meet. dun na lang tayo sa Samsung section of that store while waiting for others. text2 na lang sa late comers kung nasan na tayo.

Allen'll PM all interested parties. let's not broadcast the meeting place here since we HAVE cash with us during the meet. gun ban pa naman.

Allen will also be our default spokesperson. this is not written in stone, others can step up anytime provided that they do so gracefully so we won't be stepping on each others toes. we'll know naman who's our best negotiator on sunday na e.

my 2 sentimos.

guys,

I am also interested with this group buy. i ve made some inquiries also regarding different LCD TV and just to share to you that the rep at saver`s digital hub at edsa near SM north offered a best price for  sony 32s200a and  32V200 for 55t and 75t cash w/o the freebies respectively. Those who are interested in getting the 32s200 i think this is best price ive seen.

Guys just want your honest opinion, what do you think about toshiba regza wl66e LCD tv? .............They are offering a very attractive price and yet most of you guys are not interested. I ve  been planning to buy this brand of lcd particularly the 37wl66e which cost around 80t at 0% for 6 months wd trade in promo.

btw have you seen the new sharp aquos model px series (p for piano finish like samsung), with 6ms response rate, 2 hdmi, pip, its only cost 5t more than the bordeaux samsung model but with a 21inch flat tv, 30gig ipod video and wall bracket. Upon seeing this, i m again reconsidering my choices. better check it guys first..

thanks.. guys need info regarding toshiba regza :)

Sorry i have no contact no. of saver`s digital hub.

Tip: when you go there, dont let them know you`re interested with their brand. Ask around all brands first and let them bid you to get their product at their best price.  If you`re interested with the s200a, i suggest you get v200, i noticed a big difference specially the color and picture details - well just my honest opinion.

Those who are interested in getting samsung LCD TV, visit glorietta, they have a promo there where in you don`t need to add 5t anymore for the HT

For buyers who will take the units home that day, bring cash or have access to cash.  For delivery buyers, checks should be acceptable.  Ive had a number of dealings with our store of choice and checks have never been a problem.  (Of course, since they don't know us, they will have to clear the check before delivery, but for some of us, that should be ok.)

Honestly, prices are probably going to drop a little further around November especially for current models.  Furthermore, you probably will have more choices on items to choses from if the different brands release new models by then.

If you're not planning on buying one now, don't force it because if you see prices lower by the time you initially wanted to buy, you'll end up with regrets.

If you're not sold on a particular model, also don't force it.  No matter how big a discount we get, this will still be a huge investment and you should just enjoy it when you get home.

Guys, whoever will be making the rounds before Sunday, just let us know if there are any movements in prices for March.

Savers is located near North Edsa.  Its between Quezon Ave. and West Ave on the southbound lane.  Its a new appliance store that seems to specialize in Television sets.  Huge display although they're not necessarily turned on or hooked up to any input device.

true, thats why we will also get prices from the other shops so that they will be forced to at least match them. plus i at least got a commiment for the 20% discount for cash. if they refuse it, we can always go to a different store. :)

it normally, takes 1 -2 weeks for the new prices to propagate to the shops... you might need to have an insider or someone from the major appliance shops to get an early heads up on any price drops.

OT:

@ staind: remember the graininess that we encountered when we tested the dvd's?

this post might enligthen us hehe
http://www.bigscreenforums.com/forum_topic.cfm?which=3839

"However, Saving Private Ryan is always going to look grainy because that's the way Steven Spielberg shot the movie. It's supposed to have a grainy "news reel" look to it. Try a cleaner looking DVD (Star Wars Episode II or III) and decide if you have any issues with the picture before getting a different DVD player. If you have a progressive scan option on your DVD player, it should look fine."

now we know what we did wrong :)

also, upconversion will always produce some degree of graininess.. its was just a lot worse with the saving private ryan dvd :)

My friend from Abenson Festival Mall, called me last Saturday to inform me that they are having a price reduction on LCD's. However I did not ask for more details since the news came in too late for me, I have already bought a plasma from the other store. ;D

but we saw the graininess while watching Avia, Ronin and War of the Worlds too. :( you're right, must be the upconversion.

oh well... with the N71s tweakability, we were able to lessen it anyway.  8)

@ everyone
ok, i called ambassador regarding stock for the lcd tv's.

they said that they have on-hand stock for the samsungs and some for the sony.
i inquired worse-case scenario assuming no stock is in the shop. they said it will only take about 1-2 hours to have it delivered from the warehouse on sunday :)

if anyone has time, please check if there is any SRP prices movement for the sony and samsung models.. or by a "miracle" they released a new promo for march.. though most unlikely for promo changes.

Guys!!! Just called up Abenson.  It seems that Samsung dropped the freebies promo but they dramatically reduced the price.  the N71 is now 79900, R71 69900, S 59900.  These items can be bought with the 12% zero-interest.  Cash basis without haggling is less 5k.

Allen, can you check if Ambassador is going to lessen the price by 20% with these prices?  I doubt if they can still offer the freebies, but even without the freebies, it would seem like a great buy.

wohoo!!
that translates to a potential 64k for the n71 @20%!!!!

is this abensons branch in glorietta? or where? we need a "quotation" in paper from them so that it would be easier to haggle, since many shops tend to be slow in price propagation ex. star hub experience.

if you dont avail of the HTQ20 then an instant 5K can be shaved off the price...

hopefully the price drops take effect before sunday across all stores...

I guess this does sound kinda like good news, although I already had plans for the freebies. I was gonna give the camera to my mom and the mp3 player to my brother...Anyway, it's been running through my mind for a while but somehow I think other than the fact that they(samsung) wanted to match the prices of the other brands, that the posters of this thread had something to do with with the price drop. It's like samsung noticed they had to rethink their strategy or something to sell their LCDs, because of all the calls and inquiries appliance stores have been getting. :D

I really still hope though that we can still get a discount with the group buy because even at these prices I still think their kinda expensive, you know, compared to other country's prices. :)

well the SRP of the 32n71 in singapore is around 90k pesos, probably lower a bit now since the website i checked was a bit outdated. so im pretty the local samsung prices here are a bit higher but by only a small margin with cash purchases.

Guys, as brought up in another thread, the SRP of the Samsung models have gone down officially as can be seen on the Samsung Philippines website.

http://www.samsung.com/ph/products/tv/lcdtv/index.asp

Hope we can still get 20% off those prices!!!

guys recommend ko lang for your consideration ang Avant greenbelt for their after sales customer service, they were very helpful with my problems with my LCD before, believe me it was a major problem!!

they also match prices of competitors specially if may quote that you could show.

call the manager ms. theresa almonte or her asst mugz at 7582315 or 09165496506

...just one happy customer returning the goodwill...

Just got back home...I 'm glad things turned out ok. Of course, the only thing I didn't like is that I wasn't able to get that HTIB. :(

Ok, so now that I have an LCD...er will be receiving one, can you guys recommend what HTIB I should get? The guys at Saver's suggested this Pioneer one similar to the Samsung that was demoed(sp?) for 14.5k. They said they could deliver it tomorrow. What do you guys think?

i know what you mean, that P5K Q20 was a steal! and it sounded okay. but we can't have our cake and eat it too. :( we still got a very good deal though! 8)

if you're into HTiB, Pioneers do make some good ones. have one in my bedroom and the sound is decent for what i paid for a few years ago. it was more than double the price they're offering you then and so i think you're getting a good deal. but check the SRP first then...  you know what to do. ;)

which model were they offering? google it for reviews.

wish they carry the Onkyo HTiBs. those sound very good. try asking if they have em.

g'luck and nice meeting you!

i suggest that you set up another thread for your group buy just like this one. clone mo lang yung 1st post. yun yung importante e kasi ia-update mo yun every time, just like what allen did.

you potentially have maulller, agwe, mario, etc. for it.

mario,
i'll be receiving my 32N71 today. i'll ask the manager what the terms are for card. IMO, an additional P5K to the discounted Cash price would be a great deal considering you'll be paying it at 0% for 12mos. but wouldn't that be at the discretion of the Credit Card company instead of the store? better speak to them.

If you're particular about sound and video, I would suggest that you invest in a full home theater rather than settling for an htib.  A Wharfedale set-up would set you back about 30+k with a/v receiver and dvd player.  It would definitely give you better sound and you would be able to use the hdmi input of your new n71.

get your self a book-shelf wharfedale setup, as i suggested last time.

at 14.5k, thats enough to get a complete 5.1 bookshelf setup, just need to spend extra on reciever.

main, reason why you wont want htib setup is most low end models wont allow incoming digital inputs.. ex you cant connect a ps3/xobx/pc to it and use its speakers.

Was browsing around Ever Commonwealth last Friday night...dropped by both Abenson's & Western..the Samsung 32" Sonoma was retailing at 59,990 na lang (cash or card).  Since you guys were able to purchase your TV's last Sunday, does this mean your base price was 59.9k?  So, assuming na 20% na lang yung discount, the Sonoma could be bought at P48k na lang?

If so, then that's a darn good deal!  Hintay hintay pa ko, by December mas mababa pa siguro.  Sabay na rin siguro yung pagbili ko ng either Blu-Ray or HD DVD.

Just talked to Raymund of Saver's.  Was informed that they couldnt give us the HTIB for 5k for the price we bought but if was slightly higher, pwede sana.  So thos of us who are still interested can get the HTIB for around 8k.  Just call Raymond to verify.

well, his samsung prices were fair.. 69k for the neo-mosel, but his sony 32v200 was horrid.. 112k.. he didnt even take into a ccount that cash basis for sony is already an automatic 10k off (srp is 119k). i showed him the 75k for sony i got quoted. he said the sony is grey market so they cant match it (it wasnt grey market).

unfortunately, i got the male staffers :(

Although some of these devices have auxiliary inputs where you can connect some of your devices.  If you don't have a budget for anything more right now but want decent 5.1 sound, it should be a good buy.  However, if you really want something that you would be satisfied with visually as well as provide you with a full range of sound options, you might want to think about the wharfedale set-up that Allen has been suggesting.

question lang to those who bought.  why did u choose the n71 over the r71?  specswise . .the only thing i can see is that the n71 has 2 hdmi ports.  does the additional 10k justify the addition of an extra hdmi?  the n71 looks nicer though

it has a better panel... more colours and supposedly better black levels. :)

More colors, better contrast ratio.  I actually auditioned the R71 and the N71 and the latter seemed finer.  You have to look really close though.  Plus, Im thinking if the price difference used to be 20k, there must be something substantial.

And yes, we have confirmed directly with Samsung Philippines that they do not have stocks.

Though there should be limited stocks available at bigger appliance stores.

i highly suggest you invest in either the spyder
http://www.colorvision.com/product-mc.php

or get the HD version of avia or dve or hqv? note they are on hd-dvd or blu ray and are coming out late march or april

personally, im getting the spyder. :)

sir allen did you already get the spyder. I was thinking of getting this but its I think around 200 bucks or more ata? and seems a lot complicated program vs. DVE or avia. I think I also need a laptop or computer (nearby) to connect it to. Im slow (in knowledge and know how) in these complicated calibration stuff. Pls let me know if its easy to use. Thanks.

yep, he did offer them cables. good quality but expensive. i'll go to the nearest Ace store na lang to check out the cables they have. if they have good quality, i'll buy from there since they're cheaper.

bought my Avia from the US ages ago. IMO, it's better than DVE. compared the 2 before buying.

oh... and congrats again on your TV!!

Im not really sure.  Just test it out for yourself.  Abenson's Galleria seems to be the best place to compare TVs since they have all the models in one row.  However, I would think any advantage that the V200 would have would not be too noticeable especially at 32 inches.

well they've technically dropped a bit for the samsung models, they are just still a bit pricey because of all the freebies.

n71 is much cheaper than the v200, for roughly the same quality :)

here's my take:

performance/PQ: V200

prestige/brandname recognition: V200 (sony is still considered topdog in the phils. & most part of the world, hence the high price)

resale value: V200

features: N71

price: N71

looks: N71

is the V200's PQ/etc. worth P10K+ over the N71? that's up to the buyer and his wallet. ;)

all points taken!

i came from an LCDTV na kasi...currently using a philips...so i think i'm looking for a performance / pq upgrade already..

but it seems samsung is ahead with other points.

noticeably better ba PQ ng v200? as per allenwfc, di naman daw masyado...

sana nakapunta ako sa group buy para na audition ko din...

What Philips LCD are you using now?  I was looking at the 32PF7321 (pixel plus 1) and didnt notice much of a difference between the Samsungs and the Sony's.

Care to make a comment on Philips LCDs?

Thanks.

the earlier model. 32pf7320...i think mahirap sya talga compare sa shops kasi they are using hd demos eh...

pero agree ako na philips have better cable tv signals over the other.

nagustuhan ko kasi depth ng philips coz of the pixel plus tech.

but then again...there are new lines...new techs....and im looking for an upgrade.

i am the type of person na di nakukukunteto e...i want the best lagi...so baka mali yung person na inask mo...

hahaha!

hope this helps!

Hey guys! I just got my LCD (R71b) today(got it around 1pm). Meant to say some feedback sooner but I had classes till 6. Yes, I still go to school, when i got home, couldn't post still, coz brother was playing Flyff(on my computer). I spent a few hours with the TV and I'm actually pretty happy with it, although I still kinda wish it was a N71 ::) but I don't regret what I decided. :)

About the LCD, this definitely beats my old 32-inch widescreen CRT TV, it was a Sony DRX9 which I got from the pier around 6 months ago (which I'm now trying to get rid of, but has served me well).

Some things I tried with it were:
-hook it up to my PS2 w/ component cables and watched some original dvds on it, ones i tried were Advent Children, which looked awesome and South Park Season 8 (this was a gift from my older brother and i was saving it so i could use it on this TV, wasn't really to test it)
-tried to hook it up to my laptop but realized I got the wrong VGA cables.. :D
-played with the options a bit and checked out video settings and stuff

Some things that I should be trying out on the TV but couldn't:
-I wanted to hook it up to my 360, but its broken coz of 3rl
-my Wii hasn't arrived yet so..couldn't try that either, got the cables though
-don't have a home theater yet...

I still haven't thought of a pros/cons list yet...

About cable broadcast, I can't quote on that, we don't have cable :P and I planned on using this TV solely for videogames, watching movies/anime and using it as a secondary monitor.

Rating: 7.5/10 - might change, since like I said, I haven't fully tested it out yet.

If you're wondering how a guy like me could get something like this, well, it's a gift from my mom (she's the best) coz it's my birthday on Saturday ;D.

No stocks.  I didn't know what to get until the day I made a purchase.  Now since there are no stocks except for the appliance stores which do not give enough discounts, I have to go back and chose what model to get... again.

I'm just hoping that the running out of stock situation is a blessing.

To substantiate those doubters who do not believe na wala na talagang stock, both our first and second options, walang stock.  (Savers and Ambassador).  Anson's and Abenson's were offering theirs at big discounts as well.  As of last Tuesday, 2 stocks na lang sa warehouse nila.  Wala na raw sa Samsung Philippines.

Allen called up Samsung directly and independent contacts within the company confirmed that wala na talagang stock ng N71.

Give the store some slack, they shopped on a Sunday, so Samsung offices would be closed then... and unlike the big retailers, they might not be able to store all these models in their warehouses... they are after all, 70-80k each...  that's why they have to battle it out on lower price vis-a-vis the big  retailers...

I have to agree.  I was part of the group and the store was fair in dealing with us.  I ordered to units and they didnt hesitate to give us a refund.  Incidentally, I was the only one who did get the refund, but they didn't give me any problems in giving my money back considering that their head office is in Pampanga.  Even though this happened, I would recommend buying from them again.

If only I could decide which model I am going to buy instead of the N71.

don't u guys think it would be a better idea to wait for the newer units?   the bordeaux r81 etc etc.

so you (or we, ermm) can get the latest tech for our money, or the existing models will even be much cheaper with the onslaught of newer / shinier models

Probably the wait will never end. There will be always new models at the horizon.  ;D

i personally think its a question of budget.

the new models will most probably kick in at may or worst june.

samsung and respectfully i believe most other brands wont price their newer models at the same price as their out going models.

so the basically are you willing to spend more to get the newer model. if yes then go!! :)

if not.... well maybe you can wait at least for the may version of the samsung promo's they might have new for you :)

So who wants to organize this next group buy? I'm not that good in haggling. Hehe. My budget will be around 40-50k. And here's my choices so far:

Samsung Sonoma 32"
Sony Bravia S2 32"

;D

Go for at least 32" with HDMI but if HD movies is your future plan then you may want to consider 42" if budget permits :)

Hello guys,
I bought a Samsung LA-32R71B here in KSA at a price of about P45t (SAR 3,600). Just want to know if its a good buy at that price?
Also, I tried connecting my laptop PC on this and MS windows seems to be working but when I play DIVX(avi format) movies in my laptop, it will not show in the LCD TV? I know the max resolution of LCD is 1366 x 768 but can DIVX movies run on this resolution? Guys appreciate your help pls...
Chris from KSA

1 unit 32R81 Bordeaux plus - 55,500
1 unit 26R71 Bordeaux - 42,273

For Samsung cash buyers, I think nobody can match AsiaStreak's prices.  I can vouch for this guy, makakasigurado kayo sa kanya.  He will go 2 extra miles to keep his customers happy.  Click here (http://pinoydvd.com/board/index.php?topic=64806.0) for his thread.

Emer, penge balato ha.  ;D

here's an excerpt from the email i recd from sony phil..
"Thank you for your email to Sony Philippines.  This is regarding your
inquiry about Sony BRAVIA LDC TV model, KLV-S26A10.  With regards to the
availability of the said unit, we apologize but KLV-S26A10 is one of
the discontinued models, however, regarding to the stocks of our
authorized dealer, we are not able to monitor if they still have this model. .."

hehehe... did you also check his post history? hahaha..  ;)

perhaps he just loves Sony... and perhaps he was given an outstanding service by Anson's Pasay road especially from the Sony section. and perhaps he encountered bad experiences with Samsung and likewise with Ambassador.

just to add some input to the matter...

personally, i don't really care if it's an ansons, ambassador, abenson etc..

as long as they deliver for free, no damage, gives the best prices and most importantly the warranty of their product can be attained directly with manufacturer!!

in the end, they are all retail stores and the quality of service they provide is as random as the sales person and manager on shift attending to you that particular day. granted anson's and abenson have a more "dependable" after sales history in my book... but, ideally 90% of the time you would be dealing with the manufacturer for warranty related concerns.
