I wonder if it truly does support 4k resolutions.

I like the dual-OS feature.

Sir question lang. When I recently used my X5 there is a monotone sound coming from the TV. The NMT is connected to the tv via hdmi cable and to my receiver via optical. The sound coming from the receiver is normal. I eliminated the sound coming from the tv by choosing analogue in the sound option of the hdmi. THanks

Sorry this nmt capable play 3D files. It doesn't convert 2D to 3D. I think some 3D LED/LCD TV is capable of doing that. No NMT yet is capable of that function.

. No NMT yet is capable of that function.

tama si garfield03, leave the conversion sa TV if meron ka.

pero merong ding NMT that can do 2D/3D conversion, but NOT without a price(may penalty i mean), while may 3 levels of 3D pa nga pero may downside, which i will not discuss here, but you can PM me and i'll talk based on experience. in short -- check carefully when you see the promise of 2D/3D conversion
If I may recommend - simply exclude the 2D/3D converter feature when selecting NMTs but if you really want the feature -- check mo muna if you will really like the results ng 2D/3D converter standalones.

No offense meant sir Gary but the Measy X5 I bought from you months ago had a "3D simulation" in the menu during playback. Tried it and it converts 2D to 3D.. Of course, it can also play 3D sbs, top/bottom and 3D BD iso..

I think BD Menus now come standard feature with Realtek 1186. I was pleasantly surprised my ISO displayed with a prompt: to(PLay without Navigation,Play with navigation etc)

I just got hold of Men In Black 3 3D Bd iso (don't ask me how), a whopping 44.2 Gig file, and it play
flawlessly on my X5. it automatically renders it as 3D..

Just got my X5 yesterday.  Very nice classy aluminum finish.  And has 4 USB 2.0 ports!!!  It also has a USB 3.0 port for fast transfer of files from PC to the internal HDD.  The remote has backlight which is a very good feature for watching in dark HT rooms.  The display in front of the player shows the movie time.  It has a LAN port at the back so streaming from your network is possible.

Playability

So far I have tested 3D BD ISOs (Men in Black 3 and The Avengers) and they played flawlessly as if it was a BD played in a BD player sans the menus.

I also tried my 3D SBS movies and they are being rendered much much better (just like in 3D BDs) than just playing the files in an ordinary non3D media player and letting the TV do the SBS 3D conversion.

I had a problem though playing Dreamworks Spooky Stories.  It is a 16GB non3D 1080p movie with a DTSHD MA audio track.  It stuttered continuously.  :-\  Played this in my HTPC running on XBMC and had no problems with it.

In the Settings Menu, there is an option to play BD Menu (YES/NO).  Tried both but when playing 3D BD ISO files, it goes straight to the movie.

I have yet to test the LAN (network) capabilities of this player.  There is also an option for BT download which I haven't tested yet.

It has a dual OS feature and can download Android Apps and has a Web browser.  Since I haven't tried hooking it up to a network with internet, I have not tried these as well.

Sir I have already installed the firmware version 2.09 which says it supports movie jukebox.  After rebooting, I found a Jukebox option in the main menu but doesn't do anything even when I have installed YAMJ in my HDD.

Tried installing YAMJ using these instructions:  Step by Step Install of Movie Jukebox (http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/wiki/StepByStepInstall) which was pretty straightforward. I scanned my external HDD where I saved the index.htm and it was there.  But on starting Measy, I found a folder named (Jukebox) which just contained my thumbnail pics and other files but it isn't the YAMJ Jukebox that I was expecting.   :-\  Guess it needs improvement on this aspect.

No offense meant sir Gary but the Measy X5 I bought from you months ago had a "3D simulation" in the menu during playback. Tried it and it converts 2D to 3D.. Of course, it can also play 3D sbs, top/bottom and 3D BD iso..

I confirmed this and it has the option "3D Simulation".  When you click it, it adds depth to the movie but not as good as SBS MKVs or 3D BD ISOs.

I tried the Xtreamer USB WIFI dongle and it works with the X5. Was able to do internet browsing by using the Measy wireless keyboard and mouse.  The browser is basic just like in Android mobile phones but don't expect much as scrolling up and down is not possible.  Still looking for the browser options but haven't found any yet.

It can stream my pictures with music background thru Wifi.  No slideshow option.  Haven't tried video streaming yet.

Appreciate hearing from you guys.

@never

sir yung movie scraping, gumagawa ba sya ng sariling folder for image and info or:

1. If the movies are inside their own folder d:/TheAvengers/avengers.mkv , the cover images and info from scrape are inside d:\TheAvengers

2. If the movie is not in a folder d:\avengers.mkv, the cover images wiill on the root of d:\
OR it will create a folder and every cover images and info will be neatly tucked in that folder?

thanks!

I have updated my firmware to the latest 2.09 which supports Media Jukebox but as I have tried YAMJ and installed it just like what I do in Mede8er, it was disappointing.  I have also googled it but haven't found any answer yet.  Maybe in the next upgrade.

All of my folders have all the info needed including thumbnails, fanart and movie info as I use them in XBMC but the Measy doesn't use them like in my HTPC.

My primary reason for buying this media player is for the playability of 3D movies either in the form of ISO or SBS MKVs and it delivered well in this aspect.  The SAMBA networking aspect is also commendable as I have tried this via WiIFi.

The Media Jukebox doesn't work and needs improvement.  Haven't tried the BT download feature yet.  But specs says it supports this.

doc,

does a SBS movie file requires a 3D capable NMT player when played through a 3D monitor? i'm playing SBS mkv on a pch a-100 through an AVR then to a 3D pj. it worked well but far less quality than bluray. just want to know if there will be more pop when using a 3D capable NMT player.

Before I was playing 3D SBS via XBMC and let my 3D HDTV do the conversion.  The rendition wasn't as great compared to a 3D BD.  When wearing my 3D glasses, the edges of the TV wasn't well defined parang dumodoble that I have to watch at the center of the screen.  Another problem is that sometimes the video reverts back to 2D in that I have to reactivate the 3D button in my TV remote.  Hassle nga and nakakatamad manood with all the nuisances.

This player renders SBS movies like 3D BDs.  Syempre not the same quality but the rendition is the same. Parang BD vs MKV.  The edges of your TV is well defined just like when playing 3D BDs. When you play the 3D movie, you have the option if the player will convert the movie to 3D or you can use the TV conversion.  Didn't find any difference actually in the final converted PQ.  The advantage of having the player convert the SBS is that after stopping the movie and when you view your files again,  it automatically goes back to normal as compared to the TV doing the conversion in that when you stop the movie, naka 3D mode parin sya parang magnified ang words and then you have to convert it back to 2D or wait for the TV to detect na hindi na 3D ang material.  Do I make sense?  ;D ;D ;D

Before parang gusto ko ng burahin mga 3D SBS after watching 3D BDs but after playing them in this player.  I'm definitely keeping them.  ;D

With this player pwede ng 3D SBS.  No need to store 3D BD ISOs that take up a lot of HDD space.  ;)

Doc,

Thanks for sharing...

BTW, tanung ko na rin, responsive ba yung remote nang Measy x5? or walang lag yung remote command? did you encounter any non mkv files like MP4, AVI, etc.?

I'm thinking of getting this unit kasi.

Thanks.

Parang wala naman akong lag na notice unless may nakaharang between the remote and the player.   :)  I tried MP4, WMV files streamed via Wifi from my local network.  Ayus naman.

Ok ang remote kasi backlit.

tama, nakaka inis talaga pag naka stop ang movie while conversion is done by the pj/tv. the screen stays in 3D mode at ang hirap mag browse sa mga files, nakakaduling ;D

Bro Jao, I was pondering upon your question about the lag.  Well, if you compare it to an HTPC running on a dual core processor with 4GB RAM with a frontend like XBMC...meron ngang lag.  ;D  Mabagal sya to browse thru your files para syang naka Atom na proc.  I thought earlier when you meant lag, you need to press the remote more than once to get a response.  It is responsive with the remote but not lightning fast. Mababa kasi expectation ko with this NMT kaya parang tanggap ko sya na ganun.   ;)

Confirmed that BT Download can be done.  Just activate BT in your settings.  Then get the IP address of the Measy.  You have to open a separate PC from the same network and open your browser. Enter the ip address of the Measy in the address bar.  You will then see the BT download interface.

salamat sir!! already ordered mine, waiting for delivery from Garfield!

naalala ko, kaya may images yung browser was because your movies are inside their folder and with images na din becasue you already scrape them using xbmc.

Yung movies ko wala sa folder so i guess.....
1. Create new folder and copy the movie inside (each)
2. scrape using xbmc in a separate PC
3. connect to measy :)

tama ba sir??

Here are the 3D options:

Guess it doesnt have the frame sequential option.

salamat sir!! already ordered mine, waiting for delivery from Garfield!

naalala ko, kaya may images yung browser was because your movies are inside their folder and with images na din becasue you already scrape them using xbmc.

Yung movies ko wala sa folder so i guess.....
1. Create new folder and copy the movie inside (each)
2. scrape using xbmc in a separate PC
3. connect to measy :)

tama ba sir??

Yes sir you can do that. Put your movie files in separate folders and make sure you label your movie folder right as what you can see in IMDB.  Also include the year in parenthesis.  e.g. The Avengers (2012)
You can also label your movie files as follows: the.avengers.2012.mkv
Or you can make an nfo file and place the the URL of the movie in IMDB in it.  You can make the nfo file by using any word editing software like notepad in windows and save it as an .nfo file.  e.g. the.avengers.2012.nfo

In this way, XBMC would be scraping the exact movie from IMDB.

A simple way if you just want to put a movie poster in the thumbnail view is to google and download the movie poster/ cover art and save it as folder.jpg inside the folder where your movie file is.  You wouldn't be needing the plot, fanart that XBMC would be scraping anyway.  If you have 2 or more jpg files in your movie folder, Measy will randomly pick any jpg file and show it.  So just stick to one.  I had fanarts inside my movie folders which I had to remove as Measy sometimes show the fanarts and not the cover art.  Medyo OC ako so I removed the fanarts so measy could just show the cover arts.  ;)

I am not familiar with frame sequential 3D so no comment ako.  ;D  Happy...yes as I have found a player which can play all 3D content seamlessly without much strain on my wallet.  P5800 to be exact.  I have an external HDD connected to it with pure 3D content lang.  Mostly 3D SBS movies.  2D still being played in my HTPC.  Still looking forward to our "deal" when you come back!  ;D ;D ;D

I'm using this on a 50UT30. Very good PQ for a media player.  It has good synergy naman with my TV connected onHDMI 1.4.  ;)

AFAIK, If you can watch 3D on your 3D pj with a 3D Blu-ray player, then you don't have a problem with
this player. What the player does is render 3D on most common format then output it as " Frame Sequential manner". It basically does what your 3D tv is suppose to do. I hope this link helps.

Thanks guys for the replies.
I'm using a 3D DLP projector (acer H5360), which can only accept frame sequential signal for 3D viewing.  I'm using htpc with nvidia 3d vision for 3d viewing.  3d vision uses frame sequential with 120Hz signal (120frames) with left and right signals sent alternately.  3d bd players as I know uses frame packing, which sends normal number of frames but twice the resolution.  Although I can able to view 3d presently, I just want to simplify my set-up if possible by using the X5. Since it is not possible based from the available 3d output in X5, then I'll just wait for an nmt that can support dlp projectors.

The Media player must be connected to the same network as your PC via Wired Ethernet Cable or Wireless USB Dongle, you can access the Web Management through a separate PC web browser.

Step 1, Go to the player Setup browse for Network and turn ON BT and Samba services
(http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d178/nirvblakr/Measy%20X5/BT_zps467e10f2.jpg)

Step 2, Check your player IP Address, Go to the player Setup select Misc.-->Network info
Step 3, Browse for Network info then press OK, your IP Address will show.

Step 4, Open your computer web explorer (IE, Opera, Firefox) and Key-in http://IPaddress
(ex. http://192.xxx.xx.x/unicgi), after keying press enter and it will display the player Web
Management.

Note:  Remember to set it up in a separate PC with a web browser and not on the Measy's Web Browser to set up BT.

If Neighborweb and interface mo, *.torrent should work fine

try mo torrentz.eu if that helps distinguish your concern.

meron din way to move all your torrents to a USB stick, and read off the NMT disk.

I had my X5 for less than a year ( bought Jan 2012) and the only issue I had is the player froze after about 2 hours into play IF the internal HDD is "installed". Maybe it was designed in Northern China during winter that they did not include a fan. My solution is to remove the HDD and I don't have that problem anymore..

I think this problem is not innate with the X5. I also experienced this symptom in my Kaiboer and 1st Gen Xtreamer.  Eversince I did not practice putting internal HDDs anymore in my NMTs.

While it is still nice to have the internal trays if/when you need, disks  naturally is warm and over time the internal fans, if it has one at all, would still need cleaning and/or replacement. I, for one, practice disks outside, but its a personal preference coz my 5 year old NMT is still alive and kicking :) recently i replaced the power supply but that's about it.

Maybe it can if partitioned.

I recently acquired a 3TB external for my Kaiboer 1055 and everybody is assuming it won't recognize it. I partitioned it to two 1.37GB and both partitions are playable/accessible.

Read the specs of the X5, and the Measy site mentioned that it has a USB 3.0 port. But looking at the pictures of the unit, I can't seem to find any USB port which is colored blue.

Can anybody confirm that it has a USB 3.0 port, and is it as a host or slave?

Measy X5's USB 3.0 refers to a slave port, it means the disk  will be seen as a drive from your computer if plugged. so its good for transferring from your PC to the Measy X5 at USB 3.0 speeds.

It does not have an USB 3.0 host port, AFAIK

Hi sir. Here are the details:

Where did you format the hard drive? The drive came with the player which was preloaded. I haven't formatted it yet. don't know what sir gary used to format it.

What do you use to transfer the file? I use a to PC transfer files. When I use the NMT to move files, it confirms the command but it doesn't do the job. The files I intend to move don't get moved. I even lost several newly downloaded files using the built in move command.

What is your firmware version? v2.04

Is the nmt connected to a router? yes.

Now, I can't download anymore. It accepts my new torrents but doesn't download. The speed is stuck at 0.0kbps. I checked my connection using the built-in browser eh may net naman.

haay. sana may makatulong.

Tapos when I turn it off, nawawala ung torrent file na pinasok ko sa bt downloader.

I usually download movies that are around 3gb to 11gb.

I'll check on this...

Updated my firmware to v2.1 but same problem pa din.

Bro try to download smaller sized avi files muna like 700MB.  Kasi maski sa PC ko when downloading torrents that are HD may cap sya sa speed and minsan di nagdodownload.  If smaller avi files ok naman.

Those same files ba ok to download using your PC?

Ok sir, I will try your suggestion.

But if this is the case, disappointing naman kasi ibig sabihin you can't download HD movies via your HD player. Strange.

I downloaded using a PC and the torrent / downloaded files are ok.

Measy X5's USB 3.0 refers to a slave port, it means the disk  will be seen as a drive from your computer if plugged. so its good for transferring from your PC to the Measy X5 at USB 3.0 speeds.

It does not have an USB 3.0 host port, AFAIK

so di pala pwede e connect ang USB 3.0 sa external drive. is there a gain in playback stability when using USB 3.0?

OT, how about the competitors sir toys4geeks, may USB 3.0 host na sila?

Same question regarding playback stability using 3.0

By the way, the egreat r6s does have a usb 3.0 host port, networked na rin sya, plus 3d compatibility.
It was a super tight race between this and the measy x5, but based on all the research, testimonial gathering and budget constraints i have, i feel that the egreat r6s is my personal choice for the price range. Getting my unit later from toys4geeks.

Hmm...

The 3.0 host port is practically useless as a network shared drive since the eGreat can only do 100 Mbps and not gigabit ethernet.  If I had a USB 3.0 drive and I needed to transfer files, I would skip the middleman with the slow ethernet port and just connect to the source. :)

Also, there should be no improvement in PQ or AQ as the bandwidth needed for DTS-MA/Dolby TrueHD and 1080p can be run through USB 2.0 without any problems. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

The X5 has more I/O ports, an hd tray, backlit remote and gigabit ethernet for just a fraction more than the eGreat R6S.  It can also work well as a good enclosure/NAS due to faster throughput c/o the gigabit eth and USB 3.0 output port.

Assuming firmware and build quality for both are equal (I have no idea as I don't have both), I would say the X5 would be way ahead of the R6S.

To those who have actually used the Measy X5 as Full 3D Bluray player.

If the same Full 3D-Bluray rip contains both 3D and 2D version, can you switch between 3D and 2D through the Measy Controls or through the 3DTV?  Syempre 3D is not for everybody and if you have like 10 people watching and only 2 sets of 3D glasses, the option to switch to 2D would be convenient.

Sa PC kasi like TMT5, you just tick the 3D/2D tab to select the mode.

Im going to ask the same question sa Egreat 1186 thread.

AFAIK, its the same thing when you have a 3D ISO and plays on a 2D display,  most 1186 based NMTs switches to 3D to 2D if display is 2D.

hitting the  info button -- says its 1920x1080 so i assume its full HD on 2D that you are watching.  To add, If you have a 2D movies, and you want to show it in (simulated)3D, you can adjust the 3D depth for  simulated 3D output in the menu settings. .

I think the race in 1186 is the BD Menu Navigation  in 3D materials,

Awesome!  Two more questions please,

1. Does the Measy X5 support DTS-HDMA and TrueHD?
2. Probably a dumb question but anyway, are all 3D-Bluray actually 3D+2D, or only those with +2D can be played in 2D as well?

Thank you.

Which means I can connect the Measy X5 to both the 2DTV V20 and 3DTV VT30 and be able to play a Full 3D-Bluray?  That's an enormous SPACE SAVER...hehehe

Is it even possible for Realtek to implement Full BD Nav? If they can do that and the A400 cannot, that's a huge reversal at a much lower price.

A few hours after pasting this comment, it got me thinking real hard and...

I ended up buying 2 X5's the following day.  :P

One is connected to an AVR while the other is connected to a tv and to an HTiB via optical.  The one connected to the avr is doing just fine.  It is definitely better than all the other nmt's I've tried.  BD-ISO's played flawlessly and the ones with menus worked great, too.  Gigabit ethernet is always great to have and the extra USB ports are definitely most welcome.

The one connected to the HTiB seemed really sluggish, it seems to boot much more slowly too.  In fact, the browser and Android apps never seem to want to run.  I have a feeling it's because of the extra optical connection to the HTiB.  It moves much faster when I put the HDMI setting to LPCM and the SPDIF setting to LPCM as well.

When I put the SPDIF setting to RAW (HDMI set to LPCM to save bandwidth) and the surround setting to 5.1, the player stalls and you would have to stop the video file from playing.  When I put the SPDIF setting to LPCM, it works fine but can obviously only output in stereo.  I am now trying different combinations/solutions to see how to output DTS via optical to the LG HTiB.  I will also try different firmwares to see if there is one which actually already solves this.

Any insight from the other users would definitely be appreciated as well.  :D

hey guys regarding the issue of "hanging" or movie-stoppping, i just experienced it today. first with a 720p movie stopped at 5 mins, then went back to the folder, hit play stopped again at 5 mins. then i tired it again it went through but stopped at 30 or 35 mins. I tested 1080p movie and it happened more than 5 or 6 times before i was able to finish the movie (the 1080p movie is 2 hours and 5 minutes long) tinyaga ko lang ganda kasi nung palabas!

i tired 3D as well and the stop/hang still manifested.

btw using 1TB portable external HD.

Hmm...  Does it hang when you use a powered external HD?  Also, does it hang when you use an internal HD?

Btw, I just realized my X5's were still on 2.06 firmware.  :P

I will upgrade tomorrow (busy day today) and will check if the issues are still there. I think the reason why the other player was stalling was because of the optical connection.  I think there were fixes on the later fw to address concerns with audio.

Based on what Ive read and comparative shots between 2D-In-3D-Bluray and plain 2D Bluray, not necessarily the same especially the color saturation..BUT...it probably won't be a big deal because a movie is a fast moving sequence of frames as opposed to stationary frame - so I would guess na no big deal.  I was just looking at the comparison screenshots of the latest Resident Evil series (when TF will that series end? - havent even watched a single Resident Evil movie-  hehehe) and the 3D Left-Eye Frame (the frame that plays under 2D mode) looks certainly brighter than the 2D release.

Even amongst Full BD (2D) releases, sometimes iba-iba ang video bitrates so a certain release (CEE, US, EU, Asia, Japan for instance), may look better than another release of the same title...BUT..again no big deal in my opinion basta taken from the same Master source.  Usual exception are the Russian BDs..they usually suck.  :)

Hi all  :)

(I read the thread quite carefully but am still not sure about that point...sorry if I am asking a question which was already asked).

I have a 3d ready dlp video projector (the benq w700) which play 3d in frame sequential.

Until now what I am doing is the following:

I play a SBS file in Stereoscopic player with "Software pageflipping" as viewing method (projector in 120 Hertz) and that way can enjoy 3d (well it's not really good since my cpu is not fast enough).

Would the X5 being able to output the 3d on my dlp-link videoprojector?

I would be really thankful for a clear answer (yes/no)  ;)

Thank you very much in advance!

Greetings from Berlin Germany

A Full 3D Bluray is basically frame sequential as far as I know.  I have spent nearly 2 weeks on another NMT that is powered by the same Realtek chipset as that of the Measy X5 and it definitely plays frame sequential if connected to a 3DTV - it is automatically detected as proper 3D signal.  So I guess the only question that needs to be reconfirmed is the capability of your dlp-link projector to actually do frame sequential...For instance, if you have successfully tested a 3D Bluray on your projector, then the Measy X5 should be OK.  If you are talking of SBS encodes, that's another matter.

Cheers!

hi there!

Thank you for your answer Clondalkin.

Well, my vp ist 3d/hd ready => 720p and supports frame senquential (in 120hz) and top/bottom 3d. But it is in hdmi 1.3 and therefore doesn't support 3d blueray.

You mentioned the Side by Side 3d and this is actually what I would like to play. Which means there is a conversion from sbs to frame senquential to be output in 120hz from the vp.

I have then active shutter glasses.

And this is this point I'd like to be sure of before ordering "the beast" ;-)

Here are screenshot from the measy website but they never talk about dlp-link (frame senquential 120hz with active shutter glasses).

I sent them an email more than a week ago but so far... no answer  :(

Well, I couldn't resist and order a Measy X5.

It came today and I started playing with.

But... I have the weirdest problem...

Nowhere I can see any 3d options....

And it is supposed to be like this:

1st of all, what kind/format of movie did you play?
2nd, what is the firmware version of your Measy?
3rd, try to add almost all the details that you can think of and include that to your post..

Hi Columbia! Thank you for your super quick answer :-)

1: I played: MKV, mp4, Avi and ts files. All of them in Side by Side.

2: The Firmware is the 2.10. It is the one which was installed, I did not upgrade or anything.

3: My X5 is connected to a videoprojector the w700http://www.benq.com/product/projector/w700/specifications (http://www.benq.com/product/projector/w700/specifications) => 3d Dlp-link, 720p native which can be setup in top-bottom or frame sequential. (connected to my laptop the 3d works well but my laptop isn't powerful enough...).

The VP is in hdmi 1.3. I tried the video out too.

check mo sir yung 3D handshake. Sa Egreat R300(1186 also), found some users who had a similar problem and was isolated sa cable. the PJ is 3D capable and using HDMI 1.4 , HDMI 1.3 , HDMI 1.3 highspeed, spells the difference. so isolate mo with another 3D display, and/or cable.

in a nutshell, the realtek 1186 stock firmware players sense the 3D capability and displays the 3D video settings only if it sees a compatible 3D display.

connect your X5 directly to the PJ and you will see the 3D option in the menu. you are probably using a non-3D receiver where the X5 detects it as a non-3D display.

No you're right.

My VP is doing Frame sequential and tob-bottom.

But I guess the kind of file isn't the problem. I suppose as long it won't see my VP as a 3d device it won't work. Arf I wish there would be a way to force the 3d detection...

I wrote an email to measy, to my vendor and even to benq to ask. So far no answer...

But I am starting to fear I will have to send it back...

Pity, this is a great device!

Question here mga sir.

HDTV ko is Toshiba 40PU200 at meron syang built-in media player via USB but when i used my external drive seagate (500gb) to play MKV-DTS file there is no audio coming out from my TV. Will Measy X5 solve this or any NMT? or should I need DTS-capable HDTV? Or I must have both? In short, what do i need to experience DTS audio from my Tosh 40PU200? I dont have 5.1 speakers yet, just using my TV's speakers.

I appreciate your help and suggestions :) totally new on this home theater experience. Thanks!

Measy X5 will solve your problem or any NMT will do too. You need a separate speaker to produce the FULL Audio Experience of the NMT.

Sir need help on how to stream videos from measy x5, or if its possible.
I have an LG LED TV in another room which has a wifi dongle attached to it.
Before, I'm able to play movies on the LED TV via wifi, where the movies are in a computer, of course also connected to the network.
Note though that as far as I can remember I needed to place the files in windows media player library and enable streaming.

How can I achieve this in Measy X5?

TIA sirs/mams!

Has anyone tried putting a 3TB WD Caviar Green internal HDD on the Measy X5?
Just bought one and can't seem to find the drive in windows xp.

Connected the Measy X5's slave port to the desktop's usb port.
I'm still in the office so i'm limited with a computer to troubleshoot.

TIA

You cant see 3TB full in WinXP, esp. if its prepared via GPT. does it have contents? chances are it is in GPT to see full 3TB.

Use win7 and go disk administrator.

How do you install apps here? The manual says you need to download the APK to install the apps.
Can't seem to do this.

I'm trying to install a Media Server App on my Measy X5, anybody tried this already?
My goal is just to make the NMT work like a Media Server so I'd be able to play the files in it in my LED TV wirelessly/via the network.

Thanks

As to APK, i think most realtek 1186 players need to write their apk and cant access Google Play directly.

Got hold of a Measy X5 player, I was just wondering why its not being detected properly through LAN.  Ang setup is

Cable modem -> Belkin WIFI with LAN support Router -> Measy LAN

naka DHCP yung router but the IP that the player is getting is 168.x.x.x instead of the normal range ng 192.168.x.x

If I look at the network info, pag naka auto setup si Measy through LAN, pati value ng gateway is not there.

May router incompatibility issues ba to? Anybody tried LAN setup?

Isolate your network cable in use, baka po maluwag.

if ayaw,  force mo by manually assigning IP address 192.168.*.* instead of DHCP, it should see your network fine, as long as its plugged to the same internal network and make sure there are no router rules (i.e. MAC ADDRESS controls for IP address reservations etc/) if all else fail. reset your router to manufacturer default with NMT @ DHCP

will try to isolate later. im using the same cable to connect one of my computer directly. ala naman problem yung laptop if wired or wireless. and nakadefault setup lng yung belkin. im not sure if making it static would solve the problem, baka magkaproblema naman yung ibang devices nakakonek sa router through WIFI.

hindi master basta yung DHCP IP range mo set sa router (i.e. 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.150) and the IP you will manually assign is outside that range (192.168.1.199).

Router restored to factory defaults.  I think the cable is good, kasi either way I connect 2 of the computers (wired or not), nakaka connect sya sa internet.

1. On Measy, tried Network->Wired Lan Setup->DHCP (AUTO)->DNS Auto... Testing... Fail...
Looking at Misc->Network Info, eto na set ni Measy..

These steps below are doomed to fail, anyway just to rule out the possibility  ;D
Quote
1.A  tried Network->Wired Lan Setup->DHCP (AUTO)->DNS Manual... set to 0.0.0.0... Testing... Fail...
1.B  tried Network->Wired Lan Setup->DHCP (AUTO)->DNS Manual... set to <Provider DNS>... Testing... Fail...
1.A  tried Network->Wired Lan Setup->DHCP (AUTO)->DNS Manual... set to 192.168.2.1... Testing... Fail...

Looking at Network info, same lang above, except for the IP values

Router's DHCP range is 192.168.2.2 - 192.168.2.100.. so trying to do a fix ip setup for Measy
2.  Network->Wired Lan Setup->Fix IP (Manual)

di pa rin nakikita sa network. di ko napi-ping yung assigned ip.. tried turning on/off the modem, router, player.. same result.. the built in browser or apps can't even connect to the net..

did I miss anything?  >:( :(

Yung problem ko sa Measy X5 ko is that it can't copy the main movie file from the internal or external drives to a USB flashdrive.  JPEGs and SRTs can be copied but not the main file itself.  Tried it over a dozen times, pinagpalit-palit ko na yung USB ports, pero parating ayaw.

Was trying to copy a 4GB, 2GB and 8GB file.  Naco-copy yung associated files, but the main movie file itself, ayaw.  Tried copying the whole folder, pero same result.

So I boot up my desktop and make the Measy a slave drive.  Hooked it up via the slave port, and the X5 interface says that is a now a slave drive.  Thing is, my PC can't detect it.

Anybody here have the same problem?  How do I resolve this?

Had encountered this before but the solution to the problem is all about how the USB flashdrive was formatted. Make sure that it is NTFS..

Hello, everyone!

I've been a member for quite some time now but never posted.  Just lurked and learned.

In the midst of refurbishing my 8-year old home theater.  Started by calculating 1st reflection points and installed some fiberglass and rockwool.  I have a 3D 1080p projector, receiver, and blu-ray player coming mid-May.

Decided to get a Measy X5 yesterday in anticipation of my new gear.  I then got a 2TB hard disk and loaded it with some goodies.

Now the question:  Can I just insert the loaded hard disk into the X5 or do I need to format it first in the X5?  The manual says I need to format the drive first.  But it's already full of media and it'll be difficult to offload the contents first.

I inserted it anyway, plugged into my old 1080p TV, turned on, and everything seems to work fine.  Just wondering if I may be missing some features if I did not format the drive inside the X5, as the X5 may have some proprietary format process that installs some software.

Appreciate any advice!

Format just does the folders and possibly look for the folders and folder permissions if you will do torrent download.

pero if playback lang, ok ka na, just enjoy it a player. NMTs promise a lot of feature that are half baked or unstable so spare yourselves from the frustration and just enjoy it as a player.

Thanks, toys4geeks.  I know my way around bits and bytes but I also know the value of being content with what one has in technology and avoiding the "frustrations" you mentioned.

Yes, I am enjoying my new NMT.

I will hopefully post more meaningful experience when I finish my setup.

Cheers!

did you give it a longer time.

if pressing subtitle shows the subtitle, give it some time to sync up the mark time for subtitle file and the playback to sync up.

or try another movie

Finally set up my HT with bluray player and the Measy X5 as head units.  Well, almost.  The cosmetics in the room is still work-in-progress.  But, at least, all gear are connected and I'm having a slam-bang time watching old blockbusters.

Sorry for not having done a review on the X5.  Will do that when I get more mileage.

Now, my question:

The X5 came with a 4Geek remote control.  I am integrating all remotes (receiver, projector, BD, X5) into a single Logitech Harmony 650.  I ws able to load all my gear profiles into it except the Measy X5.  Seems like Logitech does not know yet this particullar Measy model.  Would anyone know what a compatible device would be whose profile I can use?

Seems like no one here has encountered my predicament so let me report what I did:  I taught my Harmony 650 manually.

It was a looong process cliking each button on the NMT's remote while collinear with the Harmony's receiving end and storing in the Logitech website.  But the job got done.

Next, I installed a NextGen Remote Control Extender.  All my devices were in a rack behind the viewing sofa so I wanted to click on the remote without having to turn around while viewing.

Problem:  All devices seem to be controlled by the Harmony except for the X5.

Mulled over this for a day and googled some sites.  Some sites recommended that the transmitter-battery should be installed in the right side of the battery compartment of the Harmony 650 (not the left).  I also made use of the special (included) "eye" and affixed it into the X5's infrared spot so that it has its own infrared transmitter dead-on.

This worked.

Still a few quirks but generally working OK.  Nothing that, I'm sure, time and tinkering will fix.

Hope this bit of info helps someone out there planning on a similar setup.

FYI, my gear are:

Measy X5 Media Player
Sony BDP-S5100 BluRay Player
Sony STR-DH520 Receiver
Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 3020 Projector

Projector projects into a 108" screen (can't recall brand).

Speakers are my ancient Bose 5.1 system.  I seem to hear the subwoofer popping occasionally.  Seems like my amp is driving it too hard or the speaker is already damaged.  Anyone know how to diagnose and fix this?

High volume.

Even if I dial down the input and output on the subwoofer, I still get it.  Please tell me I have not rippped my speaker!

Dear Good People,

My first post on this forum so - welcome.
I'm owner of Measy X5 player for one year. During this year I was using external USB drive, which was doing just fine. Today I bought internal HDD (WD, 2TB, Green series) for my Measy player but unfortunately player doesn't see HDD.
Does anyone know sollution for my problem? Any ideas what should I do?

I'm grateful for any help.

Nope...may air vent sa ibabaw ng unit. Depend lang sa gagamit yung iba gusto on top of a laptop cooler, maganda tingnan and it help din lalo if movie marathon. Madami kasi usb slot yan kaya ayos din ganon setup  :)

Mine is on top of a laptop cooler (the one I used, and needed, for my old CinemaTube).

The laptop cooler is never on and I never needed it turned on.  The room also has no A/C, btw.

1186 hardly has hanging issues, basta may adequate thermal paste at heat sink, kahit no fan IMO, ok siya kahit marathon.

what will cause hangs are internal disks during marathons (lalo na pag TV series hehehe), but nothing that a household fan na oscillating to keep air cool in the room, daplis lang sa NMT ok na yun to push around warm/hot air vs. build up.

Has anyone tried to install a torrent client on the Measy X5?

Connected mine to my LAN then went to the uTorrent site and tried to download the Android client.  I get the message that it will be installed, then after a few seconds, "Installed".  But can't seem to find it anywhere.

The manual said I should format the drive using the X5.  Tried that but still didn't work.

Yup.. gumagana.. and I had it on "RAW" and "Don't Care" on my previous receiver. I know that it's "gumagana" kasi I use to "unplugged" the cable and indirectly watch the "lights" in action..
But now I did not use the optical out anymore and rely instead on HDMI for HD audio..

I bought my X5 from Sir Garfield on July of this year after reading this thread. During the first month, me and my family have been enjoying its performance during movie marathons both 3d and simple hd. Lately, however, it hangs like crazy. I have to reset the player AT LEAST 5 times just to watch a single movie. I am most of the times tempted to throw the remote to it when it hangs during a climactic scene. Has anybody experienced this? Is there a solution? Will the warranty cover this?

I was one of the early adopters of the X5 and have not seen the device hang at all.  A few questions:

• What firmware version are you using?
• Is the android mode on and do you use it?

A firmware upgrade could fix it.

But there are other factors which can cause a media player to hang, like faulty hard drives and USB devices.  My wife once made one of my other media players crash because her USB drive was already corrupted and on its way out.

The worst possible scenario is a problem with the board, but I find that unlikely as there have been no reports of the sort for the Measy X5.

I have two 2tb drives and the x5 hangs upon 1st, 2nd or even up to fourth bootup on both. I also have an old measy player which plays both drives easily. I've placed a laptop cooler at the bottom of the x5.

Is there a new firmware? Where could I download it? Thank you.

hello guys!

I've put my hands on an X5 recently but I have a big problem with the device... :(

The premium apps (Youtube, podcasts, weather, etc) don't work, I only got error messages: host not found, unable to connect and so on...

The player reaches internet and all network settings are correct but simply doesn't load these apps. :(

Do you have any idea what the cause could be? I've v2.21 firmware out of the box, I think it is the newest.

Thanks in advance!

What I tried before for an older Realtek media player was to reinstall the firmware using the recovery method (from shutdown).

excuse me, but I don't really know this method. can you please give me a link or something?

I've found some russian (kazakh) firmware which are v2.10. Is it possible that the IMS apps may work on an older FW so it's worth to downgrade?

Or it's just my device is broken...

My Measy X5 player is encountering problems...Android boot-up hangs up.  Which is why I can't access the Android apps and worse, ALL my movie files (whether in an internal or external hard drive orUSB stick) freeze after a few seconds, even in preview mode.

One work-around is to play the file in 3/4 speed (by hitting the SLOW button once).  But the subtitles don't appear in this mode, and its quite annoying.  Add to this the fact that I can't copy any of the movie files to an external source (USB or hard drive), and my PC can't recognize it when connected through the USB slave port.

Am hoping a firmware upgrade would solve my problems.  Clicked on some of the links provided above, but some do not work or the firmware update link cannot be found.  Need help!

Measy X5 plays full 3D bd-iso if you turn off bd menu in the settings. It have issues when playing  big files like raw bdmv with high bitrate streaming either LAN or Wi-Fi connection. But with an internal HDD or usb powered hdd, your 3D bd-iso(s) & 3D bdmv is good to go.  O0

My Measy X5 is emitting an irritating static sound.

History:
Connected it to my HDMI receiver and audio is set to RAW- no problem.
Transferred Measy back to its original place and connected HDMI directly to TV. Set Audio to Auto. Measy is emitting a static sound.
Changed HDMI cable. Static sound still persists.

I am already a customer of Measy. Got 3 X5 for me and friends more than a year ago. Today I bought 3 new ones from local computer shop. I automatically noticed some minor modifications, like the small openings on top for heat and ventilation, also the inclusion of Wi-Fi USB Dongle. Also noticed that the firmware is 2.20. in my old Measy, I have ver. 2.10.

I have tried the three units, and all three can't see the internal drive. I tried different drives with different sizes 250GB 1 Terra and 2 terra. Also I used the one in my old Measy. Still nothing.

It can read external drives flawlessly. When I connect it to the PC, I can see the drive. So drive is working. My guess is it might be the firmware.

I would appreciate your help in this. Shall I proceed and downgrade to 2.10 and try, or you already have a better solution?

Ask your local vendor. Let them check the unit. Their is a possibility that the sata cable inside is loose. Btw, give me a call/text 09288434778. Thanks!

Good day everybody,

I am trying to help my uncle fix his Measy x5 player and was hoping someone could give me a hand.

The unit is currently 2.10 FW with 2.1 Android version. The problem that he is having is that he is unable to play any flash content in the android rom (youtube being one of them along with many other asian media app). I have already tried installing the older adobe flash versions apk with no luck (All end in error saying unable to install) I haven't been able to test any other apk so far, but does anyone know if there is a solution to the flash player?

Thank you

Guys, does anyone know where I can get a remote control for the Measy X5? I left mine in the province and Im not sure when I'll be able to go back and get it. Either orig Measy X5 remote control or a generic remote that will work with the Measy X5. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

After my measy x5 broke out last 2 weeks i managed to find a way to make it work again...
<<Quick Fix for those experiencing stuttering, hangups, constant displays of " please wait for usb update"  and unexpected shutdowns>> I'm not liable for any damage done to your measy x5

This  is the prime suspect:
processor rk1186 heatsink is too small and cannot disperse heat quickly.

My Solution is to put a small fan directly above the heatsink just like on pc processors.
Alas the player works like a charm. it works better than it ever had!

With top Cover in place

Here's my measy x5 playing youtube flawlessly..

Yes the internal fan is usb powered,, The X5 is fanless and poorly designed, it will eventually fail in the long run due to overheating.

Converted,,any defective item with usb plug will do, just cut it in half connect the red and black wires to any of the 2 wires of the pc fan

Here's the x5 running FW of Egreat

Post by: esquejo2000 on Nov 23, 2014 at 07:24 PM
Yes there are differences depending on your preference:

Previous FW flashed on Measy X5:

Egreat FW : not recommended- no network and LAN, craps up the display counter on your Measy( look at the picture above )

Xtreamer Pro: Green Screen on Start-up ( I read somewhere that there are modified firmware xtreamer 2.0 that works on X5 it has an awesome jukebox )

KD links HD700:
Pros: Changes layouts, super fast if your using it mainly as Media Player: Highly Recommended:
Cons: craps up the display counter on your Measy

Inext HD 2.7 + CFW 2.12 MOS
Pros: Changes layouts, Has remote control apps on google play store
Cons: No display counter on your Measy, no network

Alot of difference than the official fw, the GUI is nice, alot of add ons from MOS also they added wlan driver for other wifi dongle, before i only use realtk wifi dongle, but on this fw i can use my long range wifi antenna, video play flawless..

-dlna /upnp (media sharing)
-youtube
-iptv (you can add your iptv link) web base
-internet radio
-transmission (u can dowload transmission GUI on your smart phone, download torrent without using PC)
This just n example of application, marami pa..

I had to revert back the Measy fw to 2.12. The iNext version cannot "detect"a srt subtitle file. Hassle if transfering that kind of file. Although I could still transfer it if it is inside a folder. And its folders are too small..

What wifi dongle will work for Measy X5?

Realtek based chipsets from the Windows 7 era will work (no later than 2013).  Anything newer than that is not likely.  The linux kernel that the Measy uses is a bit dated now.
