To those who have actually used the Egreat R300 or R62 as Full 3D-Bluray player.
If the same Full 3D-Bluray rip contains both 3D and 2D version, can you switch between 3D and 2D through the R300 or R6S Controls or through the 3DTV? Syempre 3D is not for everybody and if you have like 10 people watching and only 2 sets of 3D glasses, the option to switch to 2D would be convenient.
Sa PC kasi like TMT5, switching between 3D/2D is done by simply ticking the corresponding Tab sa bandang taas of the TMT5 controls.

Ayaw basahin ng maigi ang probox. Pag nilalagay ko sa host 3.0 usb ang probox namamatay ito as n nawawalan ito ng power.
kapag sa harapan naman na usb port ko ikinakabit ang Probox, nababasa ito ng egreat pero parang sirang DVD ang palabas nya.
Ano kaya problema nito?

assuming the router can support the disk, my suggestion is to test first with a USB stick and see if you will see an extra drive share from your router's network shares.
assuming it works, consider a 2.5" HDD attached to the router, coz from my experience USB has limited life if you stick one and run it 24/7.
can I connect any of these units direct to TV and it will work just fine? how about audio (DTS HD/TrueHD)? kaya ba nito mag decode down to what the TV can actually output? Thanks!

when you play an SBS movie file, will the display automatically goes 3D? mine will just show a side-by-side movie just like my non-3D popcorn A100. i already set the R6S to 3D/2D in AUTO. what else needs to be configured? my FW is dated Jan 2012.

D MKV vs Full 3D Bluray - subs are easier to read, first and foremost - So you are referring its easier to read on bluray than mkv? AFAIK mkv has bigger subs than bluray as mkv uses srt and bluray is original pgs subs.
Have you observe if plays the trailer of movies before the menu of bluray movie.
Opposite Tsip. If the BD has no BD-J, then you may be able to access the BD menu. For instance concert BDs and usually old titles. Pero for really new titles and blockbuster releases, mostly with BD-J hence cant be played with BD navigation. Trying playback with navigation on a content with BD-J can hang the unit. So kung meron BD-J just try playback without navigation which would bring you straight to the main feature.
PGS subs (Full 3D Bluray) are easier for me to read than srt on a Half-3D encode in mkv container. Masyadong malaki ang srt and MAS nakakaduling. For 3D viewing, i think it's best to simply disable subtitles.
I'll look for Full BD movie without BD-J but with trailer kung meron man. Kung meron BD-J, no chance (yet) to do navigation or see trailers. Rekta to main movie lang. Im sure the BD-J titles I tested have tons of trailers under PCH.
While playing the movie press the menu botton on the Egreat. You will see the 3D options there. I think meron Simulation, Side by Side, Top and Bottom options...
Been testing a borrowed unit of an R300S and here are my observations thus far.
Positive
1. Definitely plays Full 3D Bluray both in 3D and 2D (if available).
2. If the Full BD has no BD-J, then BD menu may be accessible if available. Otherwise, playback without navigation is available.
Needs to be addressed
1. Stability issues when trying BD-J Full BDs. The unit may hang with these types of contents. This has to be addressed soonest I think.
2. Switching between audiostreams is really slow, as in seconds of no sound until the unit makes the preferred soundstream audible.
2. Definitely cant handle BD-J yet hence no navigation, among others, for Full BD playback.
To be continued as I play around more with the unit. BTW, the unit looks well built but the remote is rather flimsy - but at least full sized and full function.
Cant see any difference between 3D by the TV or 3D by the Player.

also, heard a "tok" sound (static) when i flip between files. this sound is not the tone sound of the player. anybody experienced this?
Hello Weng. Yes did test a lot of Half 3D encodes and at this point, the only major difference I notice is HD audio and subtitle quality. As for the image quality itself, not easy for me to say that Full 3D Bluray is miles better than an internally encoded (not scene or public) Half 3D encode on our 50 inch plasma. Perhaps if you use a projector screen, the difference in image may be pronounced.
I believe ang difference ng real shot on 3D is yung pag ka 3D lang pero pag 2D na ginawang 3D same lang ng mga full sbs yan. Pero yung 3D shot in real 3D camera mas maganda ang pag ka 3D.
On the R300 remote just press the Menu button on top of the Volume Button on the left side. I think 3D will not come out if the content is not 3D.
does it happen on thumbnail/list view?
3D option will still come out even though the movie is not 3D...hmmmm I have 3 r300 but everytime I press the menu button that 3d option doesn't show either on all 3. My fw is updated.

the remote i got is different than louie's R300. the remote does not light up or have any light that shows it is ON or sending a signal. i thought earlier that this was the one with backlit buttons.

Have you tried bluray 3D disc? Hindi kaya ung onkyo HDMI may problem?
if dual display with a 2D display & a 3D display , the receiver will negotiate downward to 2D.
best you bypass the onkyo and plug R6S to the PJ.
i only have ONE display, a 3D PJ. as of now, i bypassed the receiver until my 818 will arrive. the movie files i tested were all MKV and 3D SBS only. i have not tried any ISO's yet (no files on hand), hopefully smooth and playback nila.My old AVR has is 3D capable, so to duplicate your case, i've set my AVR to output only to the PJ and the consistent to detect 3D option menu sa R300 & R6S.
I use highspeed HDMI 6ft cables from anya, from R6S to AVR HDMI in and ok naman sa 3D and audio.
If all else fail, I'd gun for a HDMI 1.4 cable if you are isolating 3D then.

please help me eliminate the cause of this problem.
- using a 6-ft Monoprice hi-speed HDMI cable from R6S to the receiver = no 3D option appeared in the menu
- using a 35-ft Aurum hi-speed HDMI from R6S direct to the PJ = the 3D option appeared just like louie's pic
i suspected the Monoprice HDMI cable was the culprit so i hooked this cable from the 3D bluray player to the receiver. there i observed that the audio was dropping out when set to DTS Master or any HD audio. pero pag LPCM continuous naman ang audio. since my receiver is non-3D, i always hook the bluray direct to the PJ kaya ngayon ko lang nalaman ito.
also tested another 35-ft Aurum hi-speed cable from the R6S to the receiver (this was the same cable tested earlier that made the 3D option appear). the 3D option in the menu was gone but the "Swap L & R" and "Depth" options were left in the menu

Hi Von. Family has been marathoning on the R300 the whole day connected directly to our V20 sa common area ng house. Just set Audio to LPCM and you'd get TV audio output properly. Hopefully your TVs built in audio is good enough. The V20 has got a decent bassy audio quality kaya very satisfactory na rin. This also works even with Full 3D Bluray and Full BD but have tested only with DTS-HDMA and not TrueHD yet. Pretty good player this R300 but would have been better with Full BD Nav sana.
Nonetheless, I really like na you can connect this device to a 2D TV and be able to play the same 3D Bluray in Full 2D glory both in terms or audio and video and even direct to TV.
Update. TrueHD can be downmixed to TV audio as well basta Audio is set to LPCM, thus all variations of HD audio should be OK via direct TV connection.

Weng, no good ang Half SBS and OU - meaning hati pa rin ang TV screen and pressing the Menu Button would not give the option to combine the half images to a single picture. Apparently the TV or monitor has to be a 3DTV to have that option. I think Half 3D encodes are detected as 2D signal as well, as is, while the 2D signal from a Full 3D Bluray is either (left or right) eye frame which can fill the entire 2D screen on its own.
Medyo OT but Titanic 3D Bluray in 2D is freaking gorgeous. I recall reading that it was remastered to 4K.

I observe that when egreat boots up, it will show its bootup screen then there's a few seconds that it shuts its display prior to the main colored GUI. try approx 10 seconds to sync up and output to your display.

If the 450 is full HD, it sounds like your R6S is behaving correctly. see below some screenshots of 720p contents displayed at ACTUAL SIZE on my Full HD Plasma using another player. In order to fill out the Full HD Screen, I have to ZOOM to FIT TO SCREEN - I suppose the R6S should have an equivalent ZOOM setting - should be around 2x nga. Iba yung VIDEO Output Setting sa ZOOM Setting.

If you don't want the black bars just press the zoom button continuously until you see the X=100% Y=100% then press up until maging around 120-125% yung value ng "Y"
With this setting you will not lose any details sa sides. Medyo stretch nga lang cya vertically...
Walang FIT TO SCREEN na option sa ZOOM? I wasnt able to play with the Zoom function of the R300S because puro Full BDs ang na-test ko.
Syempre Tsip. That's the actual size of those 720p contents mapped 1:1 on a 1920x1080 panel. So tama lang na may black bars all over. For instance, if I display an SDTV content at actual size (1:1) on my plasma, super liit lalo. If the encode is 1080p, ayun sakop lahat hanggang gilid (kung meron mang natitirang side black bars due to cropping, hindi na halata halos) but depende ang kapal ng top and bottom black bars sa aspect ratio ng movie. Maski sa sample pics, magkaiba yung lapad ng dalawa diba - mas wide ang aspect ratio ng babang movie.

One of my relatives is interested in the Egreat but does not need Full 3D (raw). Should I still recommend to him the R6S 1186 or mas OK ang 1185 equivalent (for 2D of course) or pareho lang? Gusto nya raw magtipid first and foremost but have a reliable NMT that can play usual MKVs in 720p and 1080p, and if possible ay Full BD (2D) Folders/ISO. 3D lang ang hindi nya (daw) type.

I just got a remux MKV Total Recall movie and tried playing it with my Oppo Bluray player... It seems that the audio is not being detected by the Oppo because my Pioneer is just outputting static noises during playback...
I thought the file was again bugged by the audio drop outs of the said movie.....
Then I tried playing it with my Egreat R300pro...
Isa lang masasabi ko.

mine is set to Auto, but when i view the input info on the onkyo 818 receiver, the resolution is always 1080p even a 720p mkv movie is playing. i want the the R6S to natively output the movie and let the upscaling done by the onkyo amp. i prefer that the upscaling be done by the QDeo chip of the onkyo 818.

i find the HDMI Auto setting output is default to 1080p when i checked the info from the receiver. i played a 720p movie and the input video was read ast 1080p (60 hz) by the receiver. do you know any work around for the egreat to natively output the movie file? i want all the video processing done by the receiver to take the advantage of its onboard video chip.

I think both will have very close PQ as they have the same Realtek 1186 chip.
Advantage of the 1000X3D is the internal HDD slot.
But the R6s is a lot cheaper and has a very small form factor.
I think the Egreat R300pro is level matched for the 1000X3D

Instead of having to navigate to the net/workgroup/server/hdd/c/tv folder for example every time, you can just add to your favorites. Once in favorites, one click na lang.

help mga egreat R6S or R300 users.
i got hold of 2D BDMV and ISO files yesterday and tried playing them using my R6S. the files will play flawlessly if played without navigation but when i choose "play with navigation" it keeps on scanning and a play and invalid (red stop icon) icons keep on switching on and off on the upper left screen. also, tried choosing the open folder and click the BDMV folder itself then choose navigation, the result is the same. i waited for 3 minutes for each trial but the R6S could not play or detect the file.
When I used the R300S to play a 2D Full Bluray, it simply looped forever when "Play With Navigation" was selected.

With a Full 3D Bluray, it will play exactly the same whether you select Play With or Without Navigation, that is, at least the R300 didnt hang but there was no BD Menu either way.
Disney WOW has BD-J thus if you want to play it properly, get a PCH-A200/A210/A300 or Egreat S Series. hehehe

Before naman walang problema but the other night when I connected the Usi Dual Dock again, hindi na marecognize yung HDD ko, as if nothing is connected to the unit :o tried plugging a USB drive to the multicard reader USB port pero di pa rin madetect :o
I even changed the data cables and move it to the USB 3.0 port pero wa epek pa din :( I Was not able to check using the e-SATA port since I do not have one ::)
No problem if I hook up to my computer though . . . Have you encountered this problem before?

I just tried now and it doesn't work. Di kayang i-drive ng R6S ang hdd na walang external power. Anyway, ang ginawa ko nalang is I transferred na lang yung files sa computer from wd320 to seagate backup. thanks

I use Smartdrive and works ok naman (unpowered old 2.5" HDD) with R6S
I also have 3 more WDC (1x1TB, 2 x 500 GB) uSB powered 2.5" also with R6S, no issues.
I cannot tell that the Usi Dual Dock is defective because I can use it in my laptop and another media player. It seems the R6S player has the problem with this dock.

Got Hobbit 10-bit:
R6S/R300 - audio ok and video plays but obviously wrong codec since expected color depth of the file appears as greened pixels left on screen during render. imagine parang may trace of the frame by frame difference with tinge of light green around it.
S100/S900 - audio plays but no display at all (sigma 8643 just like PCH)

If you have a BDMV folder:
a. in Settings enable Always ask for BD Menu Navigation
b. go to BDMV folder of the movie you like, and select [OK] in remote
c. it should ask Play BD Menu , select yes.
you should see it at this point.

1. ayaw mag play ng bd iso pag with navigation, mag hang up lang.
2. kapag ang bd iso ay may multiple audio format encoded, it will.play the 1st audio file by default. in my case it will play PCM, stereo.or AC3 audio kasi 2nd audio format ang DTS/Dolby HD. a bit disappointing.
3. di ako marunong how to disable the subtitles permanently sa settings. i have.to disable it everytime i play a movie.
yon lang ang complaints ko but other than that okay naman as it plays all the files that i throw in.

nagpacopy ng files yung isa sa mga friends ko ditto, he bought a Bnew USB 3.0 2TB Seagate Expansion HDD na may external power supply. Im done transferring the files,and connected it to my egreat R6- nag-I-stutter yung movies. I tried the same file sa isang HDD ko ( Astone USB2.0 2TB), ok naman sya.
Then I tried to hook up the Seagte HDD sa TV, he TV played it perfectly.
What's wrong? has anyone encountered this before? Hanshake issue ng uSB3?

yung 80% plugging of a USB 3.0 HDD will work if detection of the device is the concern.

Yes sir Seagate nga, I have other 3 SDDs pero walang probelma ( 2TB na Bufallo, 1 TB na astone and 1tb na WD). sinuksok ko na din ng todo pero ganun talaga.
ok lang din at least nalaman ko agad para iwasan ang Seagate :) hehe yung may ari naman is isasaksak lang sa TV directly so there should be no issue excepts sa mga hindi madedecode ng tv nya.

Suspect ko isolated to seagate externals and how it buffers to "achieve" 5200RPM. I never had problems with seagate internal HDD with enclosure.

For the cover art mode, single level of folder lang ang depth ng display niya? E.g

My folders goes down to 2 sub-level.

The few i tried are WD, cant recall the model. pero its powered USB external.
I do shy from USB external kasi unlike before the disks are exactly just 3.5" SATA HDD in an enclosure. Kasi, from what I've been reading, most of the newer drives with enclosure (2.5" or 3.5") you can no longer do that since the SATA data and power connectors wont fit.
I think along the lines that if the enclosure breaks, i can still get my disk from inside.

R6S here since last year. However, yesterday I dabbled with my simple set-up and I connected my usb drive directly to my Samsung LED TV. I noticed a huge difference the video is sharper than when I use R6S via HDMI.
Why is it so? Am I missing something in my set-up?
Btw, here is my set-up on R6S.
Video 1080i 60z, Deep Color Off.
I tried other combinations in the video menu of R6S but it seems mas crispier and sharp when I connect my drive sa USB input of my samsung.
Any suggestions?

did you say 1080i ka naka-set? 1080i is like using component out lang from an NMT, so set the R6S 1080p/24hz not 1080i , also set deep color 10 bit or 12 bit, if your TV can handle it. I assume your Samsung display is 1080p capable.

I'm using R300 Pro and i just finished downloading a 35 gig Remux 4K Amazing spiderman... but when i played it with my R300 pro, after 2 seconds pa lang stop na ang playing and reboot ang r300 then hang... i tried to play the file with my XBMC sa pc, ok naman... This is the only file na nagkaka-ganun ang r300 pro, yung iba naman na mas malaking file ok naman...

My TV System is set to 1080i 60hz I did changed it to 1080p 60hz.
The1080p 24hz is turned ON and my deep color is 12bit.
Same result it can't duplicate the very sharp video when I connect my drive to the USB port of my TV.

Ok na. It turned out that my samsung led tv's - one of its hdmi port is defective. It's not easily seen and I have to find a suitable movie to show the samsung technician the difference. They replaced the board.
I'm beginning to believe samsung products are not well quality tested. Good thing warranty pa. I also experienced this similar incident with my samsung aircon broke down after 2 years. They ended up changing each part of the a/c and they eventually gave me a brand new replacement unit.
Oh well my R6S is A-ok.

mas mainit siya relative to R6S partly due to wifi and bare SATA. it uses 12V adaptor (unlike the R6S which uses 5V)

Try to play 3d larger files (12Gb size) and .m2ts (from sony HD camcorder):
1. Using seagate expansion 1TB (http://www.villman.com/Product-Detail/Seagate_STBV100010I 00DM003#) I can confirm the video is lag or stuttering and it cant be detected in USB 3.0
2. Using Seagate portable expansion 500Gb it played well.
3. Using cdrking tumb drive 16Gb No problem.
other than the seagate expansion problem, PQ compare to TV builtin player is way better ;D

I just discover something good with r6s pro.
I have a seagate 80Gb internal sata hdd, i think there are some bad sectors already and i have tried to recover it using so many ways, to name a few scandisk, chkdsk, seatools, norton, dos or even linux diskmanagement but icant restore the drive, the computer just wont detect it and even detected failed hdd in bios.
Out of my curiosity to try the sata cable from r6s pro., i plugged it in just maybe something gonna happen but i remember the format thing from settings so i went to format the hdd right away and it took around 15-20mins to completed.
Went back to media i can see the C: so decided to plug the hdd back to computer to copy some movies and to my supprise windows cant detect it but linuxmint can now see it so i try to reformat it in linux using ntfs file system, now i plugged the hdd to windows again and to my supprise it is now there ;D
copies some movies into it and bring it back to r6s pro. but now im using the enclosure with it and connect it via usb 2.0 and again it works perfect ^-^
just some lag when playing big size of movies but when i pause it for like 15secs (maybe it is buffering while paused) and play it back the movie will play smooth with no lag.
The lag sometimes is enclosure dependent and at times disk dependent.
Cool that you can use 80Gb again, pero use it as extra storage lang and not for priority files. some issues kasi with the SATA disks pag di ginagamit for a time, degrade. kaya its nice to keep them in an enclosure and power up every quarter. store in a place, cool, dry place.
btw any particular problem playng BDMV using the stock firmware? i try to have a quick backpost read pero ndi ko pa mahanap sorry..

Hi Guys, I am new to the forum. I just got my egreat R6s and using it with HD and 3D content on my 2TB WD my book essential usb 3.0 HDD connected to the USB 3.0 port on R6s. I played 3D mvc file which is 19gb in size without any problem. I then played a HD movie wich is also under 20GB fine. I then tried Iron Man which is around 27GB and it keep stuttering a lot. Are there any known file size limitations on the R6s?
All my files are BluRays extracted using MakeMKV. I am connecting the R6s to my Onkyo TXNR-626 which feed to my Projector and TV. Please can someone help me resolve this? I am on the firmware 3.0.5.5 currently.

what's your S/N and firmware version. Is it an R6S plus Pro (12V DC), an R6S Pro (5V DC)
I seem to have identified more problems now.
1. My R6S wifi only works if I put it right next to the wireless router. If I move it 1 foot away, it can see the wireless networks, but cant connect.
A: OPEN Wifi security, move 10 ft away, see if you can connect. I can access it fine and i trust your model has an antenna sticking out?

2. Subtitles are always on. I have to go into subtitle options for each movie and disable them.
A: yes, this is the case for subtitles.
3. I don't seem to find BT process anywhere in the menus. How do I access this option?
A: hmm. dapat neighborweb dapat ang prompt mo bro, IPaddress only and at port 80 (omit this since its the default)
I always hated Realtek NMT for DL, anything its really good for is the play media, I go to the cheaper tablets

i never had success on transmissions in any of the realtek, i got it working with sigma (s800/S900/S100) and it runs spectacularly well. but these days, my go to DL is the tablet.

I didn't understand most of your replies to my questions, but I could make out that it is not possible to turn off subtitles from settings :).

pero kung wala, search for movie file sa opensubtitles.org, download the closest one. then rename to the exact video file name, but retain the extension (i.e. sub or *.srt)

A: to isolate, login to your router and temporarily set Wifi security to OPEN (allow anyone to connect) distance should not be an issue. I can access it fine from 20 ft and i trust your model has an antenna sticking out screw the antenna tight just to make sure. or are you using a USB wifi dongle?

But I am curious to know one more thing about R6S. Not sure if anyone used this for Full 3D Frame Packed videos? I extract my 3D movies using MakeMkv and play them using R6S. But it wasn't detecting the 3D in MKV files. If I select side by side from the menu, then it plays it in frame packed 3D. I now edited the 3D movie file name to include 3d.sbs. Now it automatically plays it in 3d. But what I am not sure is why I need to tell the player that it is a sbs player (even though it is not an sbs, but frame packed).
I may have missed but what's your firmware version?My current firmware version is 3.0.5.5. Usually downloaded movies are not frame packed 3D. They will be sbs or tab. These play fine in the R6S. But if you save a copy of 3d bluray disk using makemkv, it creates an mkv file preserving the quality. The files are big usually around 30gb. These files are not detected automatically as 3D in R6S. If I add .3d.sbs. in the file name, then they play fine.
I am not familiar with MakeMkv, i DL most of my files and just works untouched so i always assumed it reads the encoded header from the file to detect if its HSBS or 3D. I was not aware file name string pattern matching matters during playback.

can you help me with my egreat r6s. I'm having very slow transfer rate using its lan from my NAS.
Movies with high bitrate are stuttering during playback.
When played through usb everything plays smoothly. Is it because of its ethernet port?
other devices connected to lan port have a decent speed except my r6s.

Hi Jim, I still haven't gotten the opportunity to update my units s800 since I got it.I checked thst you have the last stable firmware for s800
What the latest FW for this and is it worth the hassle of upgrading it? Take note that after all these years, I am still very happy with my s800 and haven't town at it anything that hasn't played, be it movie or music, so dunno if I should update

Having problems with my rs6...I take it is not the egreat bootup screen but nakarating ka sa main screen.
Everytime i power on it gets stuck sa main screen. At first kala ko remote, yun pala ayaw lang talaga. Volume and mute buttons work but the left right up down ayaw.
Not sure whats wrong with my unit...is it dead?
I hope someone can share how to fix the problem...kaka bad trip!

try mo sir i rename yung file EXACTLY by abort renaming the video file.
select all of the text of the video file and copy to clipboard, then press [esc]
then paste mo text sa *.srt mo

1. highlight mo muna yung video file, then right button (pick Rename )
2. at this point, it will highlight the whole file, (press control + C, to copy to clipboard) then press(esc)
3. at this point the filename (less the extension is in the clipboard)
4. now highlight and rename the *.SRT file you have, then press control + V, paste from clipboard) then [Enter]

There might be moisture in between the keypad membrane and the circuit board of the remote. It could have been through spilling water on the remote or fluid from a leaky battery. If you're handy you can try taking apart the remote. Remotes are commonly held together by one or two screws and then clips around the perimeter. You can pry it open after taking out the screws. In my case I actually wash the circuit board and the keypad membrane with soap and running water and then put it back together again after drying out.
