These should be easy to drive, considering they are 8-ohm nominal speakers with 89dB or better sensitivity.

Polkaudio RTi series:
RTi A Series Speakers sound as great as they look! The perfect solution for a premium home theater or music system, these speakers will make you think you're in the movie or front row at the concert. RTi A speakers feature HUGE dynamic range- suitable for today's high resolution and high impact sources. The cabinets are specially made for both great looks and sound. The real wood finish is available in black or cherry, matching your furniture and room décor. A curved teardrop, asymmetric shape functions are both adding strength and to avoid the boring "box" look of other home loudspeakers.

Polkaudio TSi series:
The TSi Series raises the standard for great sounding speakers that also offer incomparable value. It features a contemporary look and is designed to work with today's most stylish televisions and electronic components. These are speakers that produce a sound that is open, spacious, and clear; even when driven by modestly powered amplifiers and receivers. All wood cabinet Polk Audio loudspeakers are constructed of low-resonance MDF instead of the cheaper and more resonant particleboard used by many competitive speaker brands. Critically Tuned Flared Ports minimize port noise and ensure good low frequency extension with low distortion. With Flared Ports, TSi speakers reveal realistic, natural, full-bodied sound with rich bass. Exclusive Dynamic Balance Composite Material Technology delivers sound that's effortlessly clean and clear, even at lifelike volume.
The Polkaudio TSi is more affordable then the RTi. But both offer great sound and great value. All Polkaudio dealers have both the RTi and the TSi in stock, so you can listen to both and decide for your self.

Thanks for the info sir! Cheers!

sayang walang di-pole ang TSi series...
Well if you need di-pole, you can just use the Polkaudio FXi A4 or A6 as surround.
Polkaudio FXi A4 - Bipole/ Dipole switchable
(http://www.polkaudio.com/images/lineup/fxia4-f.jpg)
A lot of buyers just use Polkaudio TSI fronts and Center and FXi A4 or A6 as surround.
All polkaudio dealers have stock of the TSi series and FXi speakers. You can go for an addition.

What's the difference between the TSi series and the Monitor series?
I noticed they look pretty much the same. I would guess the TSi series is the newer model line-up?

The Polkaudio TSi series is the replacement of the Monitor series. The TSi actually looks better and has a piano black finish on the top.

tsi 300 and cs10 sound pretty good. the tsi 300 would definitely be better than the tsi 200 but the cs20 would give you a slightly fuller sound due to the bigger drivers. but if i had to choose between tsi 300 and cs10 or tsi200 and cs20, i would go for the tsi 300 and cs10. :)

i've opened the demo unit of the hk 255 and i must say, ANG GANDA!!! definitely better than the denon 1909 which is at the same price point. i would say it to be the best receiver in it's class. and it's a good match to the polk tsi and rti series. :)

If you are in the market for your first set of speakers, then the Polk Audio TSi series is the best choice. Its entry level audiophile speakers. I suggest that you get this system:
- TSi400 - tower speakers 1 pair
- TSi100 - bookshelf speakers 1 pair
- CS10 - center speaker - 1 piece
- PSW125 - 12 inch sub
Just pair these speakers with a good receiver and you will be very impressed with the sounds. Polkaudio speakers are available in most of the home theater stores.

Sir, just bring your 363 when you demo the speakers. ;) Of course that's only the start. Your room acoustics and speaker placement will also determine how it will sound. Better yet, have avshop bring a pair to your place. :)

i do but someone will buy it this weekend. if you want to try it out with the denon 1909 you should come na tomorrow, jan 2, to check it out. :)

will the TSi 200 be good for front speakers?
Quite a few people are using the TSi100 as their choice of front speaker so you should be more than fine with the TSi200 :). But smartest move would be to not take my word for it and rather personally audition a pair and see em in action :).

I am glad that you are impressed with the POLK AUDIO TSI300, its actually a great value at less then P20,000 for a pair of floor standing speakers. Its available in a lot of reputable audio video stores, go for an audition and you will be quite surprised with the sound quality.

complete na 30 hour break-in period ko .....
i cant really tell the difference ... prolly on overexposure ;D nevertheless sound is currently smooth. nothing that harsh .... playing my audiophile CDs were a true joy and warm feeling
am contemplating on getting the proper GA#16 speaker wires (yung standard strand thickness ... not those raon standards) might improve sound quality kaya?

IMO, wire is wire. Kahit pa galing Raon. ;D As for break-in, it may loosen the surrounds a bit but I don't think you'll hear a very significant difference.
-
off topic .... i checked a standard ga#16 wire ... same lang pala halos sa nabili ko
so am keeping my money :)

The Polk Audio TSi series price is similar to that of Wharfedale, while the Polk Audio RTi's price is similar to that of B&W.
To match your denon 1508; I suggest the following:
1) good value set up
TSi300 or TSi400 floorstanding speakers
TSi100 or TSi200 bookshelf speakers
CS10 center
PSW110 (10 inch sub) or PSW125 (12 inch sub)
This is a very good audiophile starter setup. Whoever has heard the TSi series has been impressed with the excellent sound quality coming from a mid price speakers.
2) Fantastic set up
RTi A7 floorstanding speakers
RTi A1 or RTi A3 bookshelf speakers or FXi A6 or FXi A4 bipole/ dipole speakers
CSi A4 or CSi A6 center speakers
DSW Pro 500 (10 inch sub) or DSW Pro 600 (12 inch sub)
This set up will blow you away, these are the same speakers we used at the mandarin Hi Fi show last November, and everybody who heard it was very impressed. It cost more then the TSi series but is a lot less expensive then many other competing high end speaker brands.
Do let me know if you need more information. You can check out the details at www.polkaudio.com

+1, can't really spell the difference between generic and branded cables (except for the claims made by the manufacturers... ;D ;D ;D)

The original question (of lakambini) was "to what speaker brand po comparable ang sound ng tsi? wharfedale or b&w?"
I take it that the Polk=Infinity=JBL sound is somewhat different than (and distinguishable from) the Wharfedale sound?

Wharfedale is a bit laid back. I listened to Wharfedale at Theater Works. After listening to Wharfedale, retreat ako agad sa mga Euro brand speakers.
I have an Infinity setup and was also able to listen to the JBL Studio L Series, I would assume the same for Polk since all these are American speaker manufacturers.
I guess American speakers equals more forward sound while UK/European speakers equals more laid back sound.

The price of the Polk Audio TSi series is similar to that of Wharfedale. I do not want say anything about the sound of wharfedale (which are very good speakers) but I want you all to read the review of a customer who purchase the entry level Polk Audio TSi 300 floor standing speakers from amazon.com in the States:
These speakers are great with almost any kind of music. Crisp, filled with great dynamics in sound, and potent at any volume level, these speakers are truly amazing for the price. I purchased two of these towers and power them through a Sony 2.0 channel stereo receiver. They stand right in front of me at my computer desk.
Sound is clear through all thresholds. Nice bass, good (though slightly muddled) mids, and very good highs. The speakers carry the music very well from a variety of styles (from rock to pop to classical). They are very good with the lows. Vocals are clear and distinct against the background of instruments.
For the aborning audiophile I highly recommend these speakers. Comparatively they are inexpensive and they reproduce significantly higher grade music and sound than do a standard set of lower level Sonys, such as the SS-B3000 set. Sound, with good cables, is better reproduced, more certain and pronounced, and of far greater quality. The dynamics are unmistakeably cleaner.
If you are on a budget these will cost you less that $500 for a pair and you will get amazingly upgraded sound for the price. You could go with a set of lower level Sonys for less than $150, but I assure you that the clarity and power of the music will be embarrassingly reduced if you go that route with speakers. There are three components to good music: source (computer, CD player, radio, etc...), power (receiver or amp), output (speakers, headphones). All are important, but which one do you think is going to bring the sound into your ears? If you are going to extend your budget for sound upgrade perhaps you should start with the speakers. That's what I did and from where I sit right now (yes, I'm listening to some rock at the moment) I made the correct decision.

I have an Infinity setup and was also able to listen to the JBL Studio L Series, I would assume the same for Polk since all these are American speaker manufacturers.
I guess American speakers equals more forward sound while UK/European speakers equals more laid back sound.
Interesting, now that you mention it, I see that there are quite a number of hits on the web for "Wharfedale laid back". I think I remember seeing the word 'muffled' used also by some. I just wonder whether 'laid back' and 'muffled' are describing the same thing, and whether that is something that has to do with frequency response, or whether that is something more complicated and harder or impossible to quantify than just frequency response.
If there is a geographic or cultural pattern (e.g., US vs. British or European) to laid backness or forwardness, I wonder where Canadian speakers (PSB) would fall on the spectrum. Somewhere in between?
Also, I wonder where Philippine speakers (in the thread entitled "CUSTOM SPEAKERS OF NIRVBKR, SIMPLY THE BEST!!!") -- http://pinoydvd.com/board/index.php?topic=3694.0 -- would fall.

Mga Sir,
IF I buy a TSi speaker will I immediately hear its "sound" or will it also require some break-in period?
Tnx
-
base sa experience ko .......... it will smoothen out lang after proper break-in (24-30 hours) .... bass should sound better and fuller and tweets will be smooth and not harsh when properly broken in ... :) overall it should become warmer
as for me .... every morning i still play music at break-in volume ;D ...

it will sound good after an hour or so of playing but it will keep getting better until fully broken in. :)

Check out the Polk audio TSi series speakers. The Following models are available:
TSi500
(https://www.polkaudio.com/images/site/tsi/tsi500-large-cherry.jpg)
Your screen will be jealous
The TSi500 is the flagship of the TSi series and will take center stage of your system. With four 6.5" drivers, it has the power handling and performance capability to satisfy the music or home theater aficionado. Use a pair by themselves in a high quality 2 channel system for music. Or pair them up with a CS20 center channel, TSi200's for surrounds and a PSW series subwoofer and you'll have one incredible sounding home theater system!
TSi400

Middle of the Pack
The TSi400 approaches the performance of the TSi500 but improves upon TSi300's. If you don't need the extra bass response or power handling, the TSi400 is the speaker for you. With three 5¼" drivers and 1" silk dome tweeter, the results are higher power handling and extended bass capability over the TSi300. TSi400 is incredible for high impact movies and music.
TSi300

Look mom- no stands!
The TSi300 is the most compact tower speaker in the TSi series. Its affordable price and small footprint means they can be used as the front channels in a home theater system or as the main speakers in a music system without needing to find room on a shelf or buy additional stands. With two 5¼" drivers and a silk dome tweeter, it has the same soul as its taller relatives. For home theater, pair them up with TSi100 surrounds, CS10 center and PSW Series subwoofer and you've got an awesome system.
TSi200
(https://www.polkaudio.com/images/site/tsi/tsi200-large-cherry.jpg)
Bookshelf Speaker with the Heart of a Tower
Can't fit the TSi300? The TSi200 is the best performing bookshelf speaker in the TSi series, great for use where high quality audio is needed. The dual 5 ¼ inch midbass produce rich and warm sounding making your music and movies sound their best.
TSi100
(https://www.polkaudio.com/images/site/tsi/tsi100-large-cherry.jpg)
It's a Front Speaker, It's a Surround Speaker, It's the TSi100!
The TSi100 is the most compact bookshelf speaker in the TSi series, great for use just about anywhere. Put them on a shelf or on speaker stands. Or hang them on the wall with their integrated wall mount brackets. Music or movies are no sweat for the TSi100. Assign them to surround duty or as the main speakers in your home theater system- they can do it all. Use them on their own, or add a subwoofer to really bring out their performance.
CS20
(https://www.polkaudio.com/images/site/tsi/cs20-large-cherry.jpg)
Big Screens Deserve a Big Center
Let CS20 be the anchor to your multi-channel home theater system and is the perfect match for larger TSi Series speakers. CS20 allows a seamless transition between the fronts of your home theater system, providing a rock solid center image and crystal clear dialog. CS20 too big to put over your TV? No problem, just flip it over and put it underneath- its angled top will point the sound right at you.
CS10
(https://www.polkaudio.com/images/site/tsi/cs10-large-cherry.jpg)
The Most Important Speaker in Surround Sound
The CS10 center, like its larger brother the CS20 sounds just as good but is a little smaller. It still has an angled top allowing you to invert the speaker and place it below your TV- directing sound towards the listening area. CS10 works great with the TSi100, TSi200 and others.
The Polk Audio TSi series is available in both black and cherry.

If you're going for TSi200s for front speakers, would you be better of with CS20 than CS10 or would that be too powerful for the 200s?
-
If you are using the TSi200, which is just a bookshelf speaker, you will be fine with a CS10.
-
If you are using the TSi200, which is just a bookshelf speaker, you will be fine with a CS10.
Would the answer still be the same with a TSi 300?
-
supposedly, base sa ka chat ko sa polk mismo, for TSI series floorstanders CS20 center speaker dapat. CS10 is secondary if space is an issue.
ako i use CS10 coz base sa dimension, its too big para ipatong ko sa 21" TV ang CS20 :o .... and the space between my main speaker is just about 4.5 feet apart. ..... so the CS10 will be more than enough to anchor my center sounds....
Pero layo daw ng SQ between CS10 and CS20 .... pinapa demo nga ni AVShop kasi daw when i listen to it i might opt for the bigger one instead ..... so i declined ;D budgetted!
-
Would the answer still be the same with a TSi 300?
For fronts, If your using the TSi100 or TSi200 bookshelf speakers, I would suggest you go for the CS10 center, if you are using the TSi400 or TSi500 floorstanding speaker, then I would suggest the CS20. If your using the TSi300 entry level floorstanding speaker, then you can go for either the CS10 or CS20.
Best thing is to go for an audition. All the shops selling Polk Audio speakers have the CS10 and CS20 in stock.

Newbie question. Just wondering about the TSi 300 and 200. I notice that both speakers have the same drivers except the the 300 is a floor stander and the 200 is a bookshelf. Does being a floorstander help the sound quality of the 300 or is the extra price just for the extra timber?
Thanks. Just wondering if the price difference of the 200 and the 300 would be worth it or if I should just think about the 400 if I want a floorstander.

Best would be, to audition.
Think of the TSi300 as the TSi200 integrated with speaker stands. Minsan kasi yung cost for a good quality speaker stand plus bookshelf, equivalent na rin sa price nung floorstander.
-
there may be tonal difference since the volume of the box is different na ...... despite having the same drivers
the smaller box tends to be more accurate, the bigger tends to have more depth ....... just my thoughts lang :)

The tsi300 would give a better bass extension than the tsi200. For the price of the tsi200 plus stands you'd be better off getting the tsi300. :)
-
If you add the cost of stands and a TSi200, your better off getting a TSi300. Why don't you audition the TSi200, TSi300 & the TSi400 before you make any decision. I have indicated above a list of stores that sell Polk Audio speakers, any of those stores will be more then happy to set up an audition for you.

Review # 1
I have a pair of these as the fronts on my system, connected to a Denon AVR. I had compared the TSi300's and TSi400's at a local big box store and there was no comparison to my mind. The 400's with the extra 5 1/4" driver just have a fuller richer sound than the 300's. While the TSi500 was tempting, I couldn't justify the price for the size of my living room. To be honest I can't see ever running the TSi400's at their top level without the police arriving at my house within 10 minutes.
They are tall, but not overly so and heavy weighing in at 32 pounds each. They are not however overly wide, taking up just 7 inches from side to side. For some perspective a dollar bill is 6 inches wide. So they take up a minimal amount of real estate from the front. I like the cherry veneer, sure it doesn't look exactly like the real cherry stair case they are sitting next to, however the black just looks like painted plywood.
I have these paired up with a CS10 as the center, which blends seamlessly with the pair and a PSW10 in the corner to supply that little bit of thump and rumble. I will probably upgrade the PSW10 at a later date but it works fine for the moment and it's only for nit picky reasons of styling and space that I'm really thinking of changing it at all. The one problem that I did have with these Polk speakers, is that my old Sony's have hidden their head in shame and left the room.
All in all a great purchase that I can recommend. They are expensive at full retail, but the 5 year warranty from Polk when purchased at an authorized dealer helps make up for that. The sound is definitely worth the price.
Review # 2
xterior Finish - Got the speakers and unpacked them to an amazing sight of cherry finish with the high gloss back top. My wife absolutely loved it. They are one of the bigger towers and will dwarf even a 40inch TV.
Sound - Listened to a lot of speakers..Paradigm studios, klipsch Icons, reference series, Polk Rtis, PSB image towers and Infinity towers....to me the paradigm studios were the best in sound but they were astronomical in terms of price. Finally it was between these and the PSBs, the klipsh Icons and the polks RTis sounded bright to me. Did a lot of listening with my own cd at Frys, my friends place, bestbuy and a whole list of places. The psbs seemed to have the best mid range but lacked the clarity at the highs these provided. The klipsch Icons were ruled out as even the TSI400s sounded better than those. Since i was looking for beefier mids I went with these and have not looked back since. Running them using an Emotiva amp. I have pushed them to a true 100 watts and they were wanting more. I could not go past this point as I dint want cops at my door...:) needless to say these performed like champs.
For HT these are beasts...provides an in theater experience once the lights go out. Pair them with a CS20 and you will have an extreme front sound stage.
Value - Must buy for the sheer value provided at this price range. An absolute yes to an audiophile who knows the law of diminshing returns or a practical person who wants most from his purchase.

i'm disappointed that Polk didn't have center speakers that would fit below my TV. had to buy another brand for that
but otherwise, all the other speakers are great!

The Center speaker is the most important speaker. Polk Audio can't make it so small. For the TSi, did you try the CS10, which is smaller then the CS20?

still too tall
i only had 5.5-inches max to fit in front of my TV
everything Polk had is over 7"
i almost went for the RM-8 centers, but they were too small, and complicated to acquire where i am
so i went for the Energy RC mini center instead. it was 5-inches tall, perfect.

For music, go for the Polk Audio TSi200 over the TSi100. its louder and has lower deeper bass.
-
for music i agree TSI200 bookshelf.... 6.5" woofer really has better midbass lalo sa type of music mo yung mga bass guitar mas satisfying ang lutong ng 6.5" over 5.25" :) lalo pag full range

I do not think the center that comes with the RM705 will match the bigger and more powerful TSi300 floorstanding speakers. Suggest that you a pair of RM8 as your new front speakers. Check out www.polkaudio.com, to view the RM8.

Sir ask ko lang kung ano yung pinag kaiba ng Polk Audio sa Wharfedale? I am planning to buy TSI300
Check out a review done by a fellow pinoy dvd member on several speakers:
It was a boring afternoon at the office. Tumakas ako to go to parksquare and gb1 to audition the speakers. Luckily, trimmed down na ang choices ko.
During the audition, I chose one of my favorite concert cd’s. Because I used to play in a band, I am very familiar with the sound of the musical instruments when played live. Anyway the sound that I was looking for is the overall quality of the reverb, full-bodied toms and snare, tight bass drums, airy female vocals, crisp sibilance, detailed hi hats, loud crash cymbals, and defined based notes. Anyway these are my amateur observations based on my preference:
1. Diamond 9.5 matched with HK 245
Low – 9 (great bass notes tight bass drums)
Mid – 8 (smooth)
High – 8 (subdued)
The overall sound of the wharfedale’s are good. The base notes sound detailed and raw (in a jazzy way). It stands out without really affecting the overall music. The mids and highs really created a perfect combination that resulted in crisp and smooth vocals without being hissy. Nice reverbs as well. However, I would categorize the highs as subdued. Because of this, the low-mid-high balance that I was looking for wasn’t really there. The snare and toms sounded great but the hi hats (although smooth), was left behind by in the music.
2. Aurum Cantus F6600 matched with HK245
Low – 7
Mid – 7
High – 6 (harsh)
I wasn’t able to appreciate the tonal characteristics of this speaker probably because it wasn’t fully broken in yet. However, I would consider the bass notes as “compressed” and not as deep as the wharfes. The hi’s were too harsh for my taste. The combination of the mids and hi’s was not as great as the wharfes. There was something lacking in the mid-high that resulted in a dark and hollow female voice compared to the crisp vocals that I head in the wharfes.
3. MS Carnical 6 matched with Yamaharxv 563
Low – 8
Mid – 6 (distorted)
Hi – 6 (harsh)
The carnival 6 was too harsh for my taste.
4. MS 904i matched with Azur 540i
Low – 6
Mid – 8 (forward)
Hi – 10 (detailed)
I actually appreciated the smoothness of the hi’s in this speaker. It wasn’t subdued like the wharfes’. It wasn’t harsh like the carnival 6 but rather detailed and controlled. The mid sounds “forward” and the female vocals sounded “airy” compared to the crisp vocals from the wharfes. The lows were nevermind. I’ll need a subwoofer for this floorstander. Overall, the 904i is more biased in the hi frequencies and did not meet my balanced requirement.
5. Mission 33i matched with Onkyo sr506
Low – 7
Mid – 9
Hi – 9 (smooth)
This speaker is balanced and sounded dry. There weren’t so much reverb. I was honestly expecting something like the wharfes combined with the 904i because I read from the forums that the missions were detailed in their highs at the same time musical. Probably it had something to do with the Onkyo. I have yet to hear the m33i matched with a Harman kardon. Review to follow…
6. Polk Audio TSI300 matched with Harman Kardon
Low – 8
Mid – 10 (airy vocals, excellent reverb)
Hi – 9 (smooth)
This speaker is in a league of its own. Great reverbs – it feels like you’re in the actual concert hall. The female vocals were “airy” and crisp at the same time. The lows were good and the bass notes were defined without being boomy. The snare/toms had the punch that I was expecting from a floor stander. The hi hats and cymbals were defined yet controlled. It is not as “forward sounding” as the ms 904i but the overall balance was great. If it wasn’t for the missions, I would have immediately chosen this. But I wouldn’t give up on the missions just yet.
So after everything, here are my revised options:
1. Polk Audio TSI300 paired w/ Harman Kardon
2. Mission 33i paired with Harman kardon (I have yet to hear this)
3. Wharfedale 9.1 enhanced by A-Audio (w/ SW150 Sub) paired with Harman Kardon

may i ask if the ms904i was mass-loaded? the bottom part is hollow and can be mass-loaded with sand or pellets etc. i once had an ms904 bass was deep and tight after massloading with aquarium sand.

do you sell the rm8...pair lang to be used as surround?

ok ba i pair ang tsi series sa onkyo 608?
-
Thinking of getting a set of this line next year. Sana matuloy. ::)

Mga Bosing, bago lang po plano ko bumili ng TSi 400, meron na po ako Onkyo AV TX-SR508 160 W/Ch at 6 Ohms, 1 kHz, 1 Channel Driven, JEITA Made in Malaysia 7.1 channel po.
Eto po tanong ko.
1. Sa setup ko po ngayon Onkyo TX-SR508 plus Acoustimass 10 series 4 pwede ko po ba isama yung TSI400?
wala bang magiging problema at yung tunog ok din po kaya?
2. Compatible po ba yung TSI400 sa TX-SR508 kaya po ba ng speaker yung AV?
Balak ko po bilhin yung speaker sa Shangri-La Plaza since dun po available.
Salamat po

Go for the following Polk audio TSi 7.1 speaker system:
- TSi400 - 1 pair - floorstanding
- CS20 - big center - 1 piece
- FXi A4 - bipole/ dipole - rear speakers
- OWM3 - side speakers
- DSW Pro 500 - 10 inch powerfull sub
exactly what i got except for the side speakers (no side speakers just 5.1). Happy with the purchase but still tweaking the subs. Powered by onkyo-608

instead of a Mirage Omni sub, why don't you get the Polk Audio PSW110, this way, your whole set up is Polk Audio.

I'm eyeing HK160 and Onkyo508/608, ano kaya the best? Can anyone pm the prevailing prices for these items?

The retail price of the Polk Audio TSi300 is P19,990 a pair, CS20 is P14,900 each and the CS10 is P8,790 each. Most of the AV stores that sell Polk Audio will probably give you a cash discount.

You might want to just use TSi100s for the surrounds, and upgrade the sub to a PSW125. :)

Yup. :)

If you like the new Yamaha sound (fluid midrange and inoffensive highs), then you'd be happy. :) If you want a more dynamic presentation, you may want to look at the Onkyo TX-SR508.
-
what do you mean by "more dynamic presentation"? sorry sir, very noob with this eh.
-
ok ba i pair ang tsi series sa onkyo 608?
+1 i also have the same question.
-

An "exciting" and "lively" sound, with more life-like differences between loud and soft passages (peaks and dips). The current Onkyos also have more energetic high frequencies than the new Yamahas, if that's your cup of tea.

can anybody tell the box dimension of the tsi cs10...
thanks ;D

Sir Sanjay,
DO you think TSi's would sound good on a Yamaha 2600 AVR? Planning to get the TSi200 Fronts, TSi100 Surrounds, and CS10 to replace my Wharf 8's. Any recommendations?
Thanks.. :)

The Polk Audio TSi series work well with Yamaha receivers. I would suggest that you go for the TSi300 floor standing instead of the TSi200 bookshelf. Why don't you add either the Polk Audio PSW110 - 10 inch sub or the PSW125 - 12 inch sub.

need advice sirs, if i have a wharfedale center speaker is it ok to pair it with polk TSi100 speakers or is it better to have a straight wharfedale set-up?

Its better to have a straight Polk Audio set up.

Hi Guys,
I just want to ask if upgrading my onkyo 608 to 808 would bring out the full potential of my tsi 200? malaki kaya magiging difference?
Because what i'm thinking is the tsi 200 has 150w@8ohms and my onkyo is 110w@8ohms. medyo bitin lang ako ng konti..
my setup: onkyo 608, tsi 200, tsi 100, psw110, cs10.
Thanks!

Mahina ba for you, or do you want better quality audio? There would be some improvement from the better onboard processing sa 808, together with the better power amp section.
What in particular are you looking for? Baka kasi speaker upgrade or room acoustics change ang kailangan. Try din to play around with speaker aim and positioning, tutal libre yun. :)

Bitin ang power nang 608 sa Tsi200, tsi100 cs10 running all channels? Alam ko the 608 has enough juice to power the Polk TSi's.. pano naging bitin for you sir?

Based on US specs, the Onkyo 808 is rated at 135 watts and the 608 at 100 watts.
http://www.us.onkyo.com/model.cfm?m=TX-NR808&class=Receiver&p=s
http://www.us.onkyo.com/model.cfm?m=TX-SR608&class=Receiver&p=s
However these ratings are in two channel mode and not all channels driven. I read somewhere that in 5.1 mode, the 608 produces 80 watts per channel and in 7.1 mode 40 watts per channel.
If you find the sound of your set-up "bitin" there just might be some settings that needs adjustment. At AV Shop's demo A/V room which is maybe 50 square meters the 608 can definitely fill the whole room with really loud sound. Try turning on Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume and see if the sound becomes louder.

Also check your source... hindi kasi pare pareho pagkaka record nang source eh... May mga CD's at DVD's akong mahina compared sa ibang titles so i tend to crank up the volume more pag nag paplay sila..

Thanks Stagea , Courage, & Conan!!!
paanong bitin? I really don't know how to describe it... My friend told me na "punch" is what i'm looking for. it will sound silly but i've been trying to compare it to a denon 3310 + B&W 685 setup.
I really like the sound i'm getting with my tsi 200 but for me medyo feeling ko bitin compared to the denon + B&W setup. so i'm thinking na maybe if i put more power it will sound much better than denon + b&w. hence the question...
What i tried so far is tweaking the intellivolume to +6db for bluray. i nticed na medyo lmkas nga at solid yung sound. taasan ko pa ba? hindi ko kasi alam ang mangyayari kung tataasan ko pa kaya di ko pa ulit ginagalaw...
Thanks!

Hi,
Need some advice regarding to my set-up, i'm planning to replace front speaker of hts5300 and use it as surround. Can i use tsi200 as my front speaker?
-
The TSi Series is probably one of the best front tower speakers. The mids and highs were crystal clear without too much overpower. The bass is rich and somewhat deep. They handled the vocal music quite well with the soothing voice of the singer. In my opinion, one of the best way to test speakers is how it handles vocals accompanied by only one or two musical instruments like guitar or keyboards. I've auditioned other speaker brands and when playing fast beat booming disco music they were okay. But when they played slow, jazzy vocals, it did not sound good.
Got a chance to audition this at MLY Enterprises ( AVShop ) and we played various music types, Slow, Pop, Jazz, Upbeat and they all sounded great. The audition room at AVShop was kind of spacious and ideal to test out music and movies. Bass is semi-soft and punchy and the highs are clear.

Good to hear that you liked them. :) It's indeed best to test speakers with material that we actually listen to, to see how they'd do with our real-world use.
However, for testing basic speaker capability by ear, I typically use complex recordings (like one from a large orchestra). This is because they put a lot more stress on the speakers, thus setting good-performers apart from the rest.

Hello! Noobie here and looking to setup my first HT 5.1.
Considering a:
Tsi Combo of:
tsi 300 F - LR
cs10 C
tsi 100 - Surround
psw 110 - Sub
But for that price, Ok na din ang:
Mix of sorts:
RTi A3 F-LR
Csi A4
PSW110 - Sub
Any cheaper surround speaker (will purchase a good one next time around na)
Anyone who could share their thoughts?
I have about 20sqm. (14ft x 10ft) floor area for my TV space. Low 7 ft. ceiling.
Will watch movies 80%-90% over listening to music and my priority in sound is clarity of highs and mids for voice and to follow is the good feel of the bass.

I'll get the RTiA3 route. Same dillema last week, Auditioned the TSI300, TSi100 and CS10... and an Infinity setup, I ended up going home with RTiA3 and RTiA1..
Will get the CSi A6 center soon.. but if you dont have a big room i guess the CSi A4 will do...

Yup, I have a small tv area/room lang in my condo so I plan on getting A4 center lang. Will keep this as my main setup for about 3-4 years before we move to a house.
The RTi's are really attractive because they won't take up that much space.
But if I go the TSi route, I'll have a complete Polk system.
What AVR did you get? I'm considering the new Onkyo 509.
Why is Sunday afternoon so far away!? Hahahaha

This is true. I've also auditioned a few RTis. They have a clear distinction of high notes, midranges and bass.

SIr i'm Using a Yamaha RX-V2600 and Harman Kardon 5500 for my RTi's. Also heard the RTi's using an Onkyo 608 and it sounded amazing... Filled the room at the shop of AVSHOP na parang gumagamit ka nang malalaking speakers... Grabe details and clarity...At one time yung isang pumasok na customer sa shop asked kung anong sub daw ang tumutunog with A3's... wala naman nakakabit na sub... Nung umpisa i even asked na pakipatay yung sub... naka direct mode pala so meaning ala ngang sub. I even walked to the sub kung naka off nga ha ha ha
Lapit na sir sunday.. ganyang ganyan din ako last week.. Although this monday ko lang kinuha pero during the weekend the waiting for monday is torture ha ha ha
-
Thanks Sir Stagea. Have a few classic orchestra music and will also listen to them with the TSi. :)
Listen to Diana Krall albums, you'll be amazed sir....

q: i'm just starting to build my HT, and due to budget constraints, i'm considering a 2.1 setup.
Based on some feedback, i'm looking at the TSI200 for this, and maybe a PSW10...I still don't know which receiver to use...i'm looking to have this setup for a 3-4 years in my room, afterwards i'll purchase new fronts and relegate the TSI200 as surrounds.. i would also be watching from my laptop..
should i just get a stereo receiver for this? (i'm kinda resistant to the upgrade poison [if i don't want to continuesly have fights with my gf :D] , so i guess i will really stick to this setup)

Hey bro! Here's my take on the 509..
MOVIES:
The Onkyo is great for movies!
Really Dynamic sound and crisp and clear vocals. Easy to setup Audyssey.
MUSIC:
Not so. Bitin. I favor warm and dreamy vocals because I listen to a lot of Jazz and Acoustic Music. (Now with the addition of Classical for my baby girl).. hehe..
My current setup:
LR: Polk Audio RTi A3
C: Polk Audio A6
RL RR: Polk Audio OWM3
Sub: PSW 110
For movies: Onkyo 509 using audio passthrough from my S100.
For audio: Macbook Pro/ HP Laptop -> Dayton DAC -> Yaqin cd2 buffer -> Topping 60 Amp
Between the Onkyo 509 and 609, for me it's a matter of 5.1 vs 7.1.. Because they use the same Audyssey setup..
If I were given a chance again, I would get a 709 or 809 for the better Audyssey Calibration.. but I do not expect that much for music.. Better talaga to have a separate system for that..
HTH!

Was at MLY yesterday afternoon. Chillax lang ako dapat pero in the end bitbit ko na yun TSi200, the CS10 and TSi100 to follow hopefully tomorrow. Had the chance to listen to the LSi bookshelf. Buti nalang paid na yun fronts ko kundi baka yun ang kinuha ko...in 5 yrs...hahahahahaha!!! The LSi bookshelf is purely awesome...no sub connected but the drums/orchestra seems right there in front of you. Thanks Marc go easy on the donuts... hahahahaha. Can't wait to complete my upgrade.
-
These are really efficient speakers and they sound great even at low to moderate level. I had to turn up my sub-woofer for it to keep pace these babies. Finally got my CS10. Thank you Mark and to your team for their patience. :)

Recently upgraded my speakers from Wharfes to Polks. I already have new TSI 400 fronts and CS20 center powered by my trusty onkyo 609 and 2 velodyne impact 12 subs. In completing my 7.2 set up i have been looking at the following choices for the rears:
4 TSI 100's plus i'll just buy speaker stands (17,000 + 5000 for the stands, 22k total) or
2 TSI 100's plus 2 OMW3 (17,000 + 2500, 19,500.00 totaL) or
2 TSI 200's and 2 TSI 100's plus speaker stands (21,000 + 5000 for the stands 26k total) or
2 TSI 300 plus 2 TSI 100 plus speaker stands (16,500 + 8,500.00 + 2,5000, 27.5k total) or
2 TSI 300 plus 2 OMW3 (16,500 + 8,500.00, 25k total)
I have a dedicated HT room at around 22-24 sq.m. Iniisip ko lang kasi the amount of the bookshelves plus the stands is almost the same as the floor standers that is why I considered also another floorstander for my side surrounds. Also planning to upgrade my amp in the near future, maybe an onkyo 809....
If you had this problem which will you choose as the surrounds, budget is within all the options I just want a value for money set up and surrounds to match well with my fronts and center...
Is the upgrade to floostanders as surrounds with the small difference in price worth the extra power of the speakers and or will the bookshelves be fine just using as surrounds...
Your opinions and suggestions will be greatly appreciated...
Thanks in advance mga gurus...

I've a 7.1 + presence speakers using a RM95 set (the center unused) with RTi A3s doing the surround back. I'll be going back to a 5.1 setup with a FXi A6 set for the effects. The RM95 will go upstairs. IHMO, 7.1, or even 7.1 + presence speakers, don't really seem to add much.
So my recommendation is you get, at most, bookshelf speakers for your effects speakers and save the difference towards buying a good sub which you don't seem to have yet. A good sub is a must for HT, IMHO.
Cheers.

Thank you sir for the feedback and rest assured that i will consider your inputs... yes it seems im leaning at the bookshelves too...
oh sorry I forgot to mention in the post... i have 2 velodyne impact 12 as my subs which i think is more than enough with the set up... maybe i'lll just make do with what i save and use it to fund my upgrade from the onkyo 608 to a 809... thanks again
how about the fxi-a4 do you think it will be a good pair for my TSI's for surrounds even though they are of different series and would timber matching be an issue with this...

The Polk Audio FXi A4 will match well with the TSi series.

I don't think I've heard the TSi series yet so I can't comment. I did just get a FXi A6 set and am very happy with their sound, actually they perform far better than I had expected.

Check out the review of the Polk Audio CS10:
http://www.centerchannelspeakerpros.com/the-polk-audio-cs10-center-channel-speaker-review-no-complaints/ (http://www.centerchannelspeakerpros.com/the-polk-audio-cs10-center-channel-speaker-review-no-complaints/)
The Polk Audio CS10 Center Channel Speaker Review – No Complaints
The Polk Audio CS10 Center Channel Speaker might be the perfect addition to your small home entertainment system. The unique sloped design of the cabinet really enhances the overall sound quality. You can select from two different colors of the outside of the cabinet, depending on the decor of your room.
Polk Audio has made a huge name for itself in the world of home audio sound and the CS10 Center Channel Speaker is one of their best quality speaker. When paired with their TSi Series speakers the resulting sound is second to none in their price range. The CS10 is the smaller of the two center channel speakers in Polk Audio’s stable, the bigger brother being the TSI CS20, but the CS10 is very capable of delivering the goods when it comes to sound performance.
Polk Audio proved that bigger is not always better, especially in home audio. The compact size and unique sloped shape of the speaker box allows the CS10 to blow away its competition in its price range. The superior sound is generated inside the speaker box thanks to the MDF or Medium Density Fiberboard, reinforced by ¾ inch baffles. You see, many of the lesser quality speakers boxes are made from a much flimsier particle board which robs the speaker of sound quality.
The awesome sound coming from this center channel speaker is created by the dual 5 ¼ inch organic fibre cone woofer and 1 inch Dynamic Balance silk dome tweeter. It will handle all that your receiver can pump out to it and that includes being able to handle between 20 – 125 watts of power. To ensure that the speaker does not damage your TV, they made sure that it is fully shielded.
We discovered more than 150 consumer reviews posted online for the Polk Audio CS10 Center Channel Speaker and it received 4.8 stars out of a possible 5.0 stars. Along with the ratings it also received really glowing comments. Several of the reviewers put the CS10 up against several of the higher end center speakers from Bose, Boston Acoustics and in their opinion it definitely held its own in sound quality.
Another person thought that paired with the Polk Audio TSi 200 bookshelf speakers makes an awesome home theater system. Several other reviewers were absolutely blown away by the quality of sound, especially when it comes to musical playback as part of home theater system. We were not able to find a single consumer that posted a negative comment or give it a lower than 3 out of 5 stars.
In the end, If you are on a budget and have a small to medium sized system you really can’t wrong with adding the Polk Audio CS10 Center Channel Speaker to your current home theater system. We would highly recommend it.
Polk CS10 Key Features:
Unique sloped shape
MDF construction speaker box
Removable grill cover
Available in Black and Cherry finish
125 watts of power capacity
Pros -
Clean and clear sound
power handling
Compact size and sloped design
Durable materials used for speaker frame
Cons -
It is a little tall
works best with other polk speakers

Actually the Polk Audio subs are very good. If your own a budget go for the psw111 (8 inch), psw 110 (10 inch) or psw125 (12 inch). However if you can spend a little more money, consider the dsw pro 550 or dsw pro 660.

Hi Sir Sanjay,
Which would you recommend as front speakers – TSI300 or TSI200? I see that the drivers are the same. Is there a difference in sound or is the housing the only difference? My room is around 21 sqm. I'm planning to get TSI100 for my rear speakers.
thanks!

I'm sure Sanjay will respond shortly but if I may 'butt in' :) -
They are so close in performance that you may want to consider other factors to help you decide - If you go with the TSi200, you should look into some good stands to maximize the potential which costs money as well.
On the flipside, if your looking for a nice clean look, the tsi200 partnered with the Pinpoint AM40, can be mounted on the wall and angled to perfection :)

Thanks for the input Sir. I was planning on putting these on top of my tv cabinet but I just realized my tv cabinet height is very near the floor. looks like I have to either get the tsi200 and mount or get the tsi300 (might come out cheaper)

Will it sound odd if I pair Wharfedale 9 or 10 cs with my Polk TSI 200 fronts?

I think I'm going to like the TSi 500.
Just curious: why does it seem that nobody's interested in the TSi 500? Hindi naman siguro masyadong malayo ang presyo sa TSi 400?

I think sa presyo kasi nang 500 makakakuha ka na nang mataas taas na RTi's...Wll if you ask me i'll get the higher RTi's na katapat nang 500.. but thats just me sir..
-
Thanks for the input.
Hindi ko kasi pinapansin ang RTi, I thought the price jump would be too much.
-
TSi500 is same price as the RTi A5 tower.
If the TSi500 is in your budget, highly recommend looking into the RTi A5. Or for just a bit more, you could even consider the RTi A7 :)
-
Thanks! Do you have an idea about how much the TSi500 and RTiA5 cost?
I googled pictures of the 2 models. Sa tinign ko may price differentiation pa rin sila.
Even if the prices are the same, the RTiA5 should still be considered more expensive, since it only has 3 drivers, while the TSi500 has 5 drivers.
I don't think I'm going to like the TSi400. 5.25 inch drivers are a bit small for me.

Go with the RTi's sir being a former RTi user... I made comparison between RTI's and TSI mas maganda talaga ang SQ nang RTi's... Ang ganda pa nang finish and solid na solid...

Hi Sir Barrister. Ok naman ang TSi500 as I had this series. This TSi500 has a slightly warmer sound character compared to the RTiA7 or A9 I did a comparison before at MLY Enterprise. The RTis are brighter. I chose the TSi500 for budget reasons and just prefer a warmer sound. It's just my personal preference, not to take away anything from the RTi. For the high freqs and details the TSI also delivers a refined details when using certain brands of amps or receivers.
-
tsi 400 paired with pioneer sounded very very bright......even with mcacc
rti a paired with onkyo sounded great
depende rin sa paired na amp
i suggest tsi 500 paired with marantz

I can believe that 8) ... sa porma pa lang, parang mas maganda nga talaga ang RTi --- sound + materials + build quality.

I also prefer a warm or neutral sound, but not bright. Depende kasi sa source materials, minsan masakit sa tenga.
If the TSi is warmer, then that's better for me. Cheaper also makes the decision easier.
I'm sure the RTi is better over-all, but it will need the the right receiver.

Now you have me worried. Yamaha ang AVR ko sir.
My Yamaha's YPAO has parametric EQ, and I was hoping the PEQ would adjust slight Receiver-Speaker mis-matches so as to make the bright-warm distinctions irrelevant. I hope your Pio's MCACC does not have PEQ, para naman may pag-asa pa ang plano kong combination.

Yamaha pala receiver mo... Then stay away from RTi's in my experience the Polk RTI's is very bright paired with Yamaha... walang problema sa movies pero pag nag mumusic na ako.. di ako makatagal...specially pag medyo nilalakasan ko na ang volume... Parang nakakarindi.. This is the reason why i changed speakers...As i'm more into music now...

I have also used Yamaha AVR to the TSi500. I've also used the Marantz AVR to the TSi500 and both brands are fine naman. With Yamaha, the sound was neutral-warm with punchy bass on the TSi500. I did not use YPAO, just manually tweeked the EQ settings. Sometimes with movies, with Yamaha, I don't use the subwoofer because the TSi has adequate bass on certain movies. Siyempre the subwoofer makes it better. I think Yamaha is ok with Polk Audio though this may also depend on your source and how you tweek the settings.

whats the difference between cs20 and cs10? which is better partner for tsi300?
CS20 has a much bigger drivers than CS10. In my opinion, the CS2 has deeper vocal bass sounded more full to me.

Question lang guys, to complete a 5.1 set-up
I have the following:
Fronts - TSi300
Center - CS10
2 options:
1. TSi100 + AM4 Pinpoint mounts
2. OMW3
Btw, I need to wall mount the surrounds due to space constraint.
Appreciate your advice! Thanks!

Yes you can use it for your Fronts..
-
sir whats the best match for my tsi300 for center cs20 or cs10?
-
The CS20 is always better then the CS10 as its a bigger center. However most of the customers that purchase TSi300 buy the CS10; while customers that purchase the TSi400 and TSi500 usually buy the CS20.

Ho guys, i'm checking if the upgrade from a cs10 to cs20 is significant? I'm currently using the following set-up
Fronts tsi300
Center cs10
Surround tsi100
Surround back wharfedale wh2
Amp pioneer vsx 921
I find that the cs10 is a bit lacking sometimes and im not sure if its the speaker or my amp, im also using gauge 16 speaker cables just in case it matters that I switch to gauge 14. Thanks.

This is simply one of the best tips that I've read on most forums about finding the best speaker for anyone. This is simply the same as this situation. We want to buy the biggest TV for bragging rights even though our room is so small. And so we don't anymore enjoy watching, we will be killing our eyes. Find the size of the speaker according to the size of our room. Dati rin kasi nung wala pa akong alam sa mga ganyan, ang gusto ko lang bilhin ang pinakamalaki kahit sa anong bagay kasi parang satistified, sobra palagi, but in the reality, the best word is BALANCE.
