Guys,

My Mede8ter is already more than a year old and I want to buy an external USB hard-disk so I can load more movies.

Anong brand ba ang recommended ninyo in terms of compatibility, stability, and performance (no dropouts)?  Minimum of 1 TB sana.  The bigger the better.

Thanks.

I have 2 X 2TB Samsung F4 in Max5G enclosures with my Med500X. Ok naman sya.

2Tb Western Digital or Seagate

ok lang ba kung portable USB external hard-drive para walang power cord?

I was eyeing the Buffalo or pwede na din yung WD Passport series?

Pwede yan sir but it's more expensive. You'll only get roughly half the storage capacity for the same amount of money.

I have this installed in my MED500x. Encountered somewhat a bug which I had brought up sa Med forums. When I installed, my internal HDD is undetectable na sa network, kung minsan lumalabas, kung minsan nawawala.  Not a big issue as I do not transfer data over my network naman.  No resolution yet from the author, Shizzl.

Apparently the Mede8er 500X can play the LOTR EE Trilogy BD without any issues, except for the lack of full BD Menu.

Mabangis pa rin talaga ang Med8er with its folder play on BDs and mine is still using the Xmas 2009 FW. Cool!

I downloaded a movie called "Bruce Lee My Brother". It's in Chinese and it seems that there is no English audio available with this movie. I downloaded English SRT file and renamed it exactly like the file name of the MKV but I can't get any subtitles to display. Any thoughts?

DL the freeware SubtitleEdit and then change the sub encode to UTF-8 and re-save.  Malamang Unicode yung nakuha mong SRT

Just had my mede8er fixed at ehome where i bought mine. Nasira yun upper usb port. Di nakakabasa. It's good to know mede8er has a 2 year warranty. Great service. I like the new GUI compared to the old one. Now i can lock my special files.  ;D

My downloaded AVI files are pixellating to the max!  My Mede8er has a hard time reading them.  Then on the upper left corner there is a box saying "...NOT SUPPORTED".  No problem playing these files on my HTPC. Any fix to this?

Me too! wmv's and avi's have since been unsupported. >:(. Those are playing in my A100 naman. The only thing i did so far was to upgrade to firmware V4 and then the modded F/W of shizzl. :(

3gp. I think wala namang NMT na nag susupport nang 3gp files. Kung ma support man, i dont think na magugustuhan mapanood nang tao yun. specially if you display it to a big screen..

So far the ones that did not play well are Mythbusters Season 1 and a lot of National Geographic Documentaries.  >:(

Spent a few nights with my old Mede8er 500x with the FW updated to the latest one. To summarize, this player is indeed very much matured in terms of FW, totally stable, totally reliable and totally flexible. And in terms of speed, my PCH cant match especially in terms of playback and stoppage of pure BD rips.

I personally think this is the right thing in terms of development, that is, make the FW fully matured first to get rid of the hiccups here and there instead of primarily changing UIs or coming out with new models so soon and leaving the old models hoping for continued FW updates and support. I happen to make some test with another seemingly popular model that for whatever reason seems to hang a few titles and would need to be rebooted to make the same files playable. Im talking of very high quality files that play flawlessly on the PC, the PCH and of course the Mede8er. Well I hope that brand actually and finally knows how to update their FW this time.

But again as for the Mede8er with the latest FW, it is impressive even without BD Java capability. I was thinking of selling mine after having gotten another PCH but the Mede8er is simply too good to let go and certainly still lives up to its long time reputation as one of the best players in the market, with one of the better FW development teams.

OT: I think I know what company you're talking about here bro. i totally agree with you as there are minor issues that I've wished that has been easily fixed in the first place.i do hope this will change as far as their FW development is concerned and for them not aiming for Quantity vs. Quality.

Guys, I'm having a hard time already choosing between three models, egreat s800, MED500x and its ac ryan counter part.

Can you guys give me the low down on these models and why I should choose MED500x over its ac ryan counterpart or the s800?

Thanks

Yup the 2 yr warranty is just excellent. Recently, my mede8er just shuts down on its own, maybe once a day. If I turn it on again, its ok na ulit. I'm still testing it out, but already talked to ehome and they told me naman it has a two year warranty. What a relief.  ;). Baka firmware lang.
