I am seeing a lot of converted USA plasmas at AV stores lately from 110 to 220vac.  Auto-volt daw.

Naaamoy ko na ang 65vt60! Ang kapalit- mag exercise 30mins araw araw for 3 months. :b

I was in a big Big AV store in Melb, nagtanong ako kung magkano ang best price nila sa 64F8500 and 65Vt60, the salesguy said " don't get the F8500, we are clearing them out, a lot of units have been returned due to different problems, you seem to be a nice guy, don't go thru the stress of getting it and then sending it back".

BTW, apparently nauuna nga ang Samsung in OLED and even UHD.  I can understand the 8K-9K street price for the 55 inch 4K OLED or 65 inch UHD considering how much more beautiful the images look compared to the current top of the line 1080p TVs, but I really don't get the point of curving a 55-inch screen, not even a 65 inch screen...not big enough to curve and nakakailang lang.

Bakit nga ba naka curve? Diba they spend so much time and money marketing flat and near flat CRTs tapos ngayon balik na naman sa curved screen?

Now, for the first time, meron nang concave screen.

The objective is to make it different from all others, so that the product becomes more desirable to a certain consumer group.

Status symbol.  Mas pogi ka pag may ganon ka.  ;)

So it's mainly for product differentiation? Meron ba itong benefit in terms of picture quality? I'm thinking all this does is narrow the viewing angle / limit the viewing area.

i think i've read an article a month ago that SONY has a curved LCD/LED panel i forgot where i find it. anyway somewhere in this thread wrote that there's a lot of customer complain about the sammy's F8500 and a salesman here in cebu told me they've got a lot of complain about this F8500 and worse there's one customer sue them for not allowing him to return back his F8500. most of the complains daw nag crack daw yun panel, i don't know folks but this story seems ligit after i've read a post in this thread.

and your point is???...

ok... somebody also told me once that the world will end in year2000.. almost believed him..

Picture quality benefit?  No, walang benefit yon.

Yes, it limits the viewing area "sweet spot."  If you're sitting on the right side of the room, the left side of the screen is angled towards you, but the right side of the screen is angled away from you.  Nagkakaroon ng distortion.

I guess for HDTV's that are at least 80" diagonal, it may be OK to curve but I don't think it's necessary unless they change the aspect ratio of the TV and make it wider than 16:9.

I didn't notice any distortion on the curved OLED when viewed from one side only, but perhaps I got too distracted by the curve - it just felt meaningless for the given sizes of the demo OLEDs.

if it's not practical for 50 or 60-incher TV's, i'm not sure why they are releasing curved phones with very small screens ... mukhang marketing lang talaga

I've narrowed my plasma tv choices to these 3:

Panasonic 60U50 60" Full HD Plasma TV - 75k
Panasonic 50VT30 50" Full HD 3D Plasma TV - 62k (there are still a few stocks of this tv in Manila)
Samsung 51F5000 - 43k (w/ free 28" LED tv or 30+k without the "free" tv)

my heart is saying "bigger is better" but my brain is saying, "play it safe, save some money, and get the Samsung."  ::) :P

The U series is quite OK in the dark. I havent seen the Samsung in action.

My entire household and all relatives are still awed by the VT30.

I'm trying to be diplomatic my friend.  hehehe. Seriously, I think practically every plasma model should look nice in a dark room - and the black level of the UT model is strong.  I've actually seen the UT50 beside the ST50 side by side in a pretty dark area of Frys. i would be lying if I tell you that I could easily distinguish between the two. Then got a similar chance in another branch with some ceiling lights - that situation, kitang kita difference ng reflectiveness and clarity and color of reflection.

Parang namamahalan ako sa 75K na U series while the 30K Samsung is really reasonable.  For the VT30, that's the premium you have to pay.  But do you have any regrets paying that much?

Hi bro ninja, I would just keep your 50vt30 and just get a projector. That's what I did, I kept my 55 inch led, yung pj ko for intense, awesome movies para tipid sa lamp lol...if you want size talaga and used to watching in the dark, for me ok na ok yung projector. Marami na lumalabas na 1000usd and under na pj hehehe.. 3d and 1080p na.

Hi DTNS, I had the same dilemma  a few years ago when I bought my PDP - LX5090, I listened to my brain then 2 weeks later I was thinking oh why oh why did I not buy the 6090. You have to live with your choices unless of course you win the lottery.

Jammybabes I have a 60UT50 ngayon, its already a good unit. 75k for a 60" parang ok na din na price. di lang ako makatulog na magpalit kasi ang naiisi ko is VT60, I wont settle for the ST60, 2x the price, pero "parang" hindi ganun kalaki ang jump ng overall PQ, I may be mistaken ha kasi di ko sila nakikita side by side.

meron pang Panasonic 65ST30 sa LiS, nakita ko last Sunday dine-demo. I wasn't able to ask about its price though.
