Hmmm... Pardon my ignorance on the matter, but do leds that display backlight bleeding issues 'get worse' with time.

When i bought my lg42lm6200, i did notice minimal backlight bleeding that becomes visible in total black scenses. This really wasnt an issue for me since i expected this from an edgelit model. Besides, the overall pq, and other features this model offered made this very easy to ignore for its price.

Pero again, back to the question at hand... Does backlight bleeding get worse as the screen becomes more used?

yes. our Samsung 32E4003 has backlight bleeding on practically its entire panel:-\   it looked nice when it was brand new.

Gaano na po katagal ang TV nyo? I'm assuming that you haven't had it replaced since you first bought it, or was that another replacement that has the same issue as the first one?

sir anya,

i have an LG 55lm6200, from its info sticker at the back, it was manufactured last Jan.2013. i've only had it for 2 weeks, so I cant really conclude na it gets worser over time.

i also have a Samsung 32D5000 for 2 years now, may slight bleed din but doesnt seem to get worse naman.. thats why I went for a 2012 model LG when price went down, hoping it would stay the same.

from what ive read from the net, even top of the line models of LED's are still prone to bleeding. but since hindi ganun ka-pihikan ang mata ko, weighing the pro's and con's of LED's and plasma's... mas ok na ako sa LED..  :)

yes.. may iba kasi bleeding na kaagad at 2 or 3 corners ng TV out of the box.
since this one had only a minor bleeding at the bottom part, i went for it na.

but if glare is an issue, i think most LED's nowadays, glossy ang finish ng screen. si samsung na lang yata may semi-matte na finish ang screen, anong model pala ng TV plan mo kunin?

I just wanna share my experienced on SAMSUNG LED TV...

I returned a new LED 3-times because of factory defect! They called it clouding and 4 corner torch. My first purchased was 41" LED, but i asked for replacement after one week. Then i got a new one, same model but after a week i asked again for a replacement and i decided to get different (higher) model but same 41". Again, after a week, same problem was still there.. clouding and 4 corner torch! So i decided to get Plasma.

Now i'm enjoying my new 51" Plasma 3D! With FREE 4pcs 3D Glasses and Blupass Card for 6months free rentals of bluray disc!

hahaha..

I'm plannng to get LED siguro after 1-2 years pa, kapag na solve na nila yun problema sa bleeding and clouding, kasi as of now, hindi ko sya ma e enjoy dahil maselan mga mata ko e..

This makes it even harder to decide whether to stick with the current brand and model we have for replacements, or kuha na lang ng iba. This also proves na branded or not, doesn't really matter..you'd still experience the same issue on LEDs no matter what.

Basa basa ulit! Still waiting for the listing I have requested from Sir Vic. Nanghihingi ako ng alternatives for what I have now. Looking for any 40" or above, 3D TV, LED or Plasma, close sa price ng unit na nabili ko syempre (27k+). Ang importante ay 'yung 'di na lemon! Although assured tayo na mapapalitan units natin, hassle din kasi kung paulit-ulit!

You are right brader! Yun pamangkin ng wife ko bumili ng LED na Coby 42-inches.. 1-year pa lang ay nasira na, as in totally blackout yun display! Kaya kahit gusto ko ng LED for its clarity and detailed image, I decided to stick muna with my Plasma. Saka mas ok manood ng cable channel with plasma hind pixelated ang image.

Goodluck on your huntfor a new LED.... sana ok na yun makuha mo.  :)

Hahaha!

Kaya I've decided not to return my LED, & I started watching with the lights open.

And I've also taken some of the advice na sa movie na lang mag-focus at wag sa backlight, pero minsan di maiwasan lalo na kung dark yung scene at di mo na maaninag yung palabas kasi namumuti yung black portion hehe.

I'll give my LED a year, then saka na ako mag decide on what to replace. Preferably a 51 in up with 3d capabilities para ma-enjoy din ng mga bata.

if you want plasma, a simple window blinds can solve that problem or try to re arrange your interior, minsan new look makes better! hope that helps!  ;)

Bahala na siguro si Batman, sir! Hanggang strike 2 lang ako, then maybe I'll know what to choose next. Thanks sa tip!

Goodluck parekoy! Here's a sample pict of Plasma 51" on cable channel.
(Sorry medyo malabo, just use iPad to capture the image. But at least you can see that its not pixelated)

If you still prefer an LED TV:
Continue with your research, nothing beats a well-informed consumer. Once you have narrowed down your LED TV choices, I suggest you test all of them in SnS. You can ask the staff to turn off the lights in the store's home theater demo area- I'm sure this is a reasonable request which they would be happy to accommodate, considering you were not happy with the LED TV you purchased in the first place. Use a movie's dark scene you are familiar with (the better if you will bring your own BD, DVD or NMT) so you can evaluate the backlight bleeding. You're all set to go; it's just a matter of choosing which brand or unit with less bleeding (or preferably none at all) that would be acceptable to your discriminating taste.  ;)
