Are Ganz Klar dvd players any good? Saw them at Makro selling for P4500. Has 7 day return policy but don't know about waranty. Don't know model no. but just want to know if their video and audio quality as well as reliability is ok.

well i think ganz klar is actually more of a speaker company rather than a dvd player company. Haven't had any personal experience with their player though. If you're going for a <5000 DVD player, i suggest the Next Base player. Nice feautures and pretty reliable in my experince so far. Plus certain stores give you a six month return policy.

Yo, Acidburn!
Can you tell us the stores that sell Nextbase DVD players, and offer the 6 months return policy? Might get one kasi.
Thanks. ;D

well, the guy i talked to at nintendo said i could return my player if there was anything wrong with it outright. He also said they included a 6 months warranty with free parts if it broke down (you just pay for the labor). Not too bad. I dunno how true this policy is though since i have been lucky enough to have a problem free player so far.

I think watson's has a similar policy. So far those two stores are more or less reputable. Not too sure about the stores in Raon since i haven't been there in awhile.

Well, that sounds like the same deal offered by Nintendo when I asked a few weeks ago. Anyway, thanks for the info, Acidburn. ;D

well, the store where I bought my Nextbase player has the same deal, 6 mos. warranty.  Just like what acidburn said -

The store is located in Raon Electronic Center. Store name is D.R.J. Electronics (along Raon St., 2nd store from Quezon Blvd.). Got it for 4,400 last August. Two months old and still ok.   ;D

Instead of buying a VCD player, I am planning to buy a DVD player.  My question is:Aside from the price, what are the advantages of the Generic ones compared to the branded ones (<10K)?

Passed by Nintendo kanina, and yes, 6 months service lang ang warranty nila for NextBase DVD players. Naka-print pa yun sa stat sheet ng NextBase. Di talaga nila sasagutin yung pyesa. Bummer. Guess Ill have to look at the Raon shop TX mentioned.
4.7K yung Nextbase90000(gold color) ng Nintendo.

Can Generic DVD players play authored DVD's?

I have a portable DVD player: AIWA XD-DW1 with LCD but i can't play all my authored DVD's.  I tried it with my PS2 and it work as well as with my PC.

Anyone knows what type of DVD player i must buy in order to play dvd authored discs. And where? thanks. Also, how much pala? thanks.

One advantage of having a combo vhs-dvd player is the less space it occupies than having separate players. Just make sure that this combo dvd player is multiregion and can also play PAL dvds just in case your tv is not multisystem capable.  :)

Battousai: sorry my bad. Anyway, if you haggle sa nintendo they'll give it to you for 4500. that's how much i got mine for.

randy: sp far my nextbase can play everything i've put into it. PAL, NTSC any region, P discs, MP3's jpegs etc. Which is more than what i can say for my dad's pioneer player.

Saw this one sa makro mail.  In terms of looks mukhang okey though I haven't seen the actual unit.  I'll probably drop by Makro sa 18 when the item is available already.

question re generic player
i was looking through the dvd players the abus were selling at Makati Cinema Square when i chanced upon a Roxing (not sure kung tama ang tanda ko) player.  It looked like a typical china made player but when i checked the rear input/output i noticed a "progressive scan output" daw.  It looks like a computer monitor port  na pwedeng pagkabitan ng monitor.  i asked the abu, ang sabi para daw sa laptop attachment (?).  Ganoon ba talaga ang output para sa progressive scan, or is that thingie just so you can watch the dvd's on a computer monitor?  and btw, mas ok ba manood sa monitor o parehas lang sa tv?

I think it is not progressive scan, i think it is a SCART Output to corresponding device for software update or a control system.

I saw a mid sized DVD player(like the usual generic VCDs) brand name AHOO yesterday being sold at the IMAGE Electronics in Harrison Plaza for a very affordable price of Php 3,800.00.

This brand is also being sold by the China Reds in Quiapo, so if Image was able to price this DVD player( high prices in IMAGE) this low, one can possibly get this at a more affordable price in Quiapo.

Probably this is the begining of the end of the VCD players, once the price hits the Php 2,800 mark, DVDs will probably be all over the Metro, and we'll be back talking about the most affordable brand name player. ;) ;D

i think AHHOO's service center is located in quiapo, just before you cross the small bridge going towards the former headquarter offices of Shoemart, if you are coming in from SM Carriedo, quiapo wet market. Have still to check them out if they are good though but i do not own any AHHOO products. Pero sila rin lang ang maraming banner and posters sa mga china reds.

di kaya this is a good buy too? abangan!!!

dvd players at vcd player prices?
uhhh.... i never tried asking for the prices of dvd players sold in greenhills but my mom just bought one and told me she got it for just 3k? and i tried using it, my comments? ummm ok lang... the video quality is ok, one thing i love about the player tho is that it can play anything you put into it. and i mean everything... R1, R3, Copy Dvds, VCDs, Mp3, and it you don't take care of your disk. even worn out CDRW vcds.!
pangit lang is when you try to play original dvds and you only have a L/R coaxial A/V wires. you only get background or front speaker sounds. so you can't hear any dialouge.

anyways. i just want to ask. how much are good dvd players these days? and what the cheapest for those GH dvd players?? :)
