Is the HD treatment of this classic worth it?

Snow White and the Huntsman

A classic given a different twist. Picture and audio are excellent but the story is so-so. Definitely not a keeper.

Yes, definitely. I guess a 4k or 8k upgrade is still some time away. In my case, the only DVD I purchased of this series was Crystal Skull, all the others were LD. The reviews were quite good on this one, so I went ahead when the price was right.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Probably the best PQ/AQ of the box set, but the others in the box are not that far off.

A Good Day To Die Hard  Complete letdown for me.  The weakest in the Die Hard series. Anyare?  Simply didn't engage me at all.  As if I was watching explosions and gunfights and I have no clue what on earth is happening to the Maclane father and son >:(  PQ and SQ are superb.  I'll just have to complete my collection that's why I'm not letting go but this BD is really a letdown.

The Verdict 1982
Beautiful BluRay transfer for a 30-year old movie (especially in comparison with other 80s movies that were recently released in BluRay) - just the right amount of grains and details that highlighted the good looks and blue eyes of Paul Newman even at his age (then).  DTS-HDMA5.1 sound is rather thin but it's OK as there are no action sequences.  Very captivating story BTW.

Dead Man Down 2013
Grains and grit that are appropriate to the plot.  DTS-HDMA5.1 is loud and clear for the gunfights. Nothing really new about a clever family man who wants to seek revenge against the crooks except for the side story of Noomi Rapace. OK lang movie!

The Green Mile

This completes our Darabont Film Fest until we get a hankering to view the films again.

The blu is really far better than the DVD (we have the snap case DVD) - picture and audio are much clearer and the viewing experience much more engaging. Not to say the DVD was bad, it was good when it came out, but was limited to tech available then. A worthwhile title to double dip.

Help 1965

I had a vague memory of the 70s about an old film that I watched with my father having a bedroom that was flushed to the floor.  Eto pala yon!   ;D.  Felt very refreshing to watch the Beatles sing some of their popular songs and the sound quality was actually pretty fair.  The PQ certainly looked 60s but the black suits certainly look black.  Nice!

Olympus Has Fallen 2013

Very unlikely story but still a good popcorn movie.  Nice DTS-HDMA5.1 sound on the action scenes and the image quality is certainly a tough test of your HDTVs black quality as most of the scenes are in the dark.

The Italian Job (1969)

Such a shame to see so many classic cars wrecked, but they were still to be classics when this film was made. The Miura was actually a wreck before they threw it over. We were also half expecting Rossano Brazzi to break out singing "Some Enchanted Evening" hehehe.

PQ / AQ were better than expected for a film this age. Another double dip for us, the reviews on this raved about the restoration and we could do with an upgrade from the DVD.
