I tried playing the demo of UNCHARTED but it's impossible to aim at your enemies without getting shot at using the Sixaxis.  First person shooters always sucked with the Playstation paddles.  Any suggestions?  Meron bang keyboard and mouse combo for PS3 FPS games?

Thanks KT.  Still no keyboard though.

As an avid FPS gamer in the PC, I can't imagine how anyone can play FPS in the PS3 with the same level of control afforded by a mouse and keyboard in the PC when using the Sixaxis. I mean, I'd love to play Uncharted and COD4 because of the outstanding graphics but the Sixaxis just kills the FPS experience for me.

You'd be surprised at the amount of headshots in a PS3 COD4 match ^_^

heheheh, tell that to xbox owners and their multitude of FPS games
but i side with you, FPS and RTS games are meant to be played with a keyboard and mouse

the PS3 can be equipped with a keyboard and mouse, dunno how to configure that though for the games

maganda ba picture quality ng Bluray movies sa PS3 pag LCD lang gamit or kelangan plasma full hd na para ma-enjoy ko?
I have a Panasonic 32LX77 and using pioneer dv600 as upscaling dvd player.
Malaki ba difference ng makikita output video sa panasonic lcd ko if I use PS3 to play BD against sa  upscaled DVD video ng pioneer 600?
Thanks.

sa vmall. sa cardinal audio. may maliit na shop sa harap, they are actually the main supplier sa ghills... pati ng mga games lahat dun kumukuha....they sell at the same price, but at least ang resibo mo kanila. eyo sales i think pinakamura ang games.

Simply put, if you're coming from SD discs and players, BD movies would hands down look great on any modern panel be it LCD or Plasma.  A single-layer Blu-ray Disc can store 25 gigabytes (GB), over five times the capacity of a single layer DVD at 4.7 GB so just the sheer disc size to play with would imply greater picture resolution and detail.  Naturally your panel would play a big role to better enhance that signal but suffice it to say, the jump from SD to HD would be the biggest marked diff (vs. an LCD to Plasma comparison).  Here's a link to this type of discussion: http://pinoydvd.com/board/index.php?topic=57254.0

I have a Panasonic 32LX77 and using pioneer dv600 as upscaling dvd player.
Malaki ba difference ng makikita output video sa panasonic lcd ko if I use PS3 to play BD against sa  upscaled DVD video ng pioneer 600?
Thanks.

As mentioned above, MOST DEFINITELY.  An upscaled image simply put is just an enhancement of a low-res signal.  It's no match to going-in with a pure hi-def signal to begin - now this is 'HD nirvana.'
Check out this quote from Wikipedia:

A video scaler is an algorithmic processing device for converting video signals between one arbitrary resolution/aspect-ratio and another resolution/aspect-ratio. In their most common application they are "upscaling" or "upconverting", taking a low resolution (Standard Definition) video and increasing the resolution to a high resolution (High Definition) video. This does not necessarily mean that the picture becomes clearer/more detailed - as scalers in their simplest form only increase the sample points for the original signal resulting in more data points for the original given information.

Hope this helps convince you...hehe  ;)

some of our members at pinoypsx.com have tried plugging US PS3s into 220v outlets and have no problem.  but why risk it?  get an AVR with a 110v outlet

Bro, ganyan din naging problema ko sa unang PS3 ko. Mga isang buwan lang hindi na makapagbasa ng kahit anong disc. Nanonood ako noon ng Pirates of the Caribbean: CotBP (BD) nang biglang nag-hang yung pelikula.

Use "normal" when viewing standard dvd. Don't use "full scale" or "double".

From the PS3 user guide:

Quote
DVD Upscaler

Adjust settings for upscaled output when playing a DVD. Upscaling is a feature that can be used to enable content recorded at SD resolution (NTSC: 480p / 480i, PAL: 576p / 576i) to be displayed in HD resolution (1080p / 1080i / 720p). Because the video content of commercial DVDs is recorded in SD resolution, higher resolution video can be achieved by enabling upscaled output.

Off - Set to disable upscaled output.

Double Scale* - Set to upscale and display with double horizontal and vertical dimensions without changing the proportions.

Normal - Set to upscale and display at a size that matches the screen size.

Full Screen - Set to upscale and display at full screen by changing proportions and stretching the image

*  This option can be used only when the video output setting of the PS3™ system is set to 1080p or 1080i.

Hints
To use this feature, a TV that is compatible with HD input and output must be connected using an HDMI or component AV cable. Also, the video output setting of the PS3™ system must be set to 1080p, 1080i, or 720p.
When playing copyright-protected DVD content such as commercially available DVD-Video, an HDMI cable is required to upscale the video content.
If image quality is reduced or the image does not look right when upscaled, set this option to [Off].

"Double Scale" & "Full Screen" works as a sort of "zoom feature".

well good thing sa PS3 you can play around the display settings during DVD/BD playback just press the Triangle button
