yun rin takot ko, heat issues.
pero wala ba masasacrifice na applications like web/internet, or speed in terms of processing
if walang internal hdd?

I suppose wala naman. Although I noticed that prior to FW 2.2, matagal mag-boot-up yung Xtreamer with an external HDD. After upgrading, parang mas mabilis na. I havent tried installing an internal HDD in the Xtreamer though.

About FW 2.2, I noticed that the DNR feature is introducing a lot of "artifacts" during playback (TV output set to 1080p). A lot of flickering pixels appear on dark scenes. I switched to 720p and they disappeared. Somehow with the DNR turned-off at 1080p, none of the artifacts appear. So I just set the DNR Off.

just wanna share....

after tediously giving instructions to my son thru ym, was able to downgrade the xtreamer back to 2.0.2
and now the problematic files before that keeps on hanging played smoothly na without hiccups.
as in my case, the 2.2 seems to be unstable.

 ::)

i thought now after downgrading all will be okay...
it seems it not a firmware issue... because after downgrading last saturday night.... the previously problematic played without hanging.

now they tried to play it again (one of my kids was not able to watch it) it goes back again on hanging.

it seems a over-heating issue... because my son say the unit was really very hot.
i ask to check if the fan is working and set to high. yes it does spin.

i had install a 640GB internal HD, most of the files played are 1080p MKV. and set to 1080p 60HZ.

any comments and/or recommendations regarding this problem.

thanks.

I'm in the market for a media player and a dvd or bluray player for my 2nd set up. To save some moolah is it possible to play dvds or bluray discs on an external dvd/bluray drive connected via usb to the Xtreamer? (I already have an external drive hence this inquiry)

As long as your DVD/Blu-ray discs are stripped of encryption, it will work. In simple terms, you can't take a DVD/BD disc you buy from a legitimate retail establishment and play it.

You can get the encryption off the discs you legally own and burn it to DVD/BD-RW discs and it WILL work :)

Seller D: 5650 also with Wifi and HDMI

Amazing how much it cost today...big difference when it first came out at 7700. Sulit for new buyers.

Sana bumaba rin yung etrayZ. ;D

Lowest I found was Seller "T":

P5,100 for Xtreamer Unit

Promo Add 900 and get a 80gb 2.5" hard drive to go with your device. Add 550 to get a WIFI adpater and HDMI Cable.

So far this store's the cheapest at P5,650 for the Xtreamer +  wifi adapter + hdmi cable.

This is not a PDVD seller btw.

I got a package from him last night. It comes with a 1 year store warranty. Very reputable seller from other sites.

This is when I am streaming for long hours...

Are you using static IP address, baka may conflict?

There's also an issue that I frequently encountered with my old Linksys router (wireless-G pa) - my PC connection drops when another wi-fi device is connected, pero it comes back again in a few seconds ...it's actually not noticeable if you're just browsing, nakikita ko lang sa utorrent na biglang drop yung send & receive for a few seconds...if this is the case, you can also try connecting other devices via wi-fi

No sir, this is just happening whenever I play HD movies with xtreamer(well, sometimes with with divx files also for long hours like when playing tv series continuously). And the media file is in an external USB drive connected to the laptop. The laptop is connected to the network wireless while the xtreamer is wired.

Question in updating the firmware:

I followed the instruction given their website.  download the zip file, extract it in a folder, copy in the USB drive, mount the USB to the xtreamer, go to settings/network/firmware (ata forgot the exact option name), select USB and point to where the firmware installer.

My problem is that when i choose the folder in the USB drive where the firmware installer is located, the Xtreamer does not show any files it recognizes, which i think is the install.xtr.

did i miss anything?

Place the firmware update file in the root directory of your USB drive.

the firmware fileaname after extracting should be Xtreamer_2.2.xtr and this resides in the root directory of your USB drive (formatted to FAT32). Mac users had problems wherein when we extracted the archive (ZIP), it would go further and extract the files from the .xtr file which caused same symptoms as you describe.

hi scifi-fan

i see, mac user here and as far as i can remember its install.xtr and not xtreamer2_2.xtr that i saw.  anyway, i will try to download and extract the firmware in windows.  i'll format my USB drive na din to be sure.  kasi parang hindi fat32 yun nakita ko when i selected my USB sa media library.

thanks!

that might be the reason.. xtreamer doesn't recognize HFS (mac partitions).

I remember I used windows (vmware) to download and extract the file. Worked for me :)

Xtreamer Pro will be available from the factory mid- to end-March pa.
It's expected to sell for around 50-60% more than the Xtreamer 2.5".

Let's hear it from the PDVD community - what are the most compelling features of the
Xtreamer Pro that you'd willingly pay more money for?

I'll start a new topic - I think we should move discussions over.

Need some help....

I have a Harmony One remote, a Samsung LCD TV and the Xtreamer.

What I am trying to accomplish is to setup and activity which involves the LCD & Xtreamer. Problem relies with the LCD not recognizing the input if the device connected to it is not on, the Xtreamer is connected via HDMI.When I choose the activity, it turns on the Xtreamer (which takes some time to boot) and the LCD TV (which will not detect the HDMI, as the Xtreamer is still booting up). I tried searching for solutions on the NET (which involves setting up a delay before the TV receives an IR command) but seems that it's not working. Maybe someone could point me out where I am doing it wrong.

Forgive your enemies, but never forget their names.

I don't have the same problem with my xtreamer and Panasonic plasma but maybe because I switch on additional devices like the AVR before switching the TV to the right HDMI input. As a workaround, what if you switch the TV to cable/free TV first, before switching to the HDMI input for the xtreamer--to add delay to the process?

Guys need help... all of a sudden bigla na lang humina ng sobra ang sound ko sa lahat ng movies ko with non-dts/ac3 audio encoding. AAC, mp4, avi files ko, wla akong halos marinig. If the movie, however, is in dts or dd/ac3 format may naririnig ako.

I'm using a 5.1 surround system. Xtreamer is connected via optical to my receiver. It's just weird bigla na lang nagkaganoon...
