Positives:
1.) The best GUI for a realtek player I have seen so far. I love the red logo, the look, also the length of characters on screen mahaba, so you can easily view long file names!
2.) Speed in browsing, preview and bootup feels the same with the HD Pro so this is good news considering it has a more complicated GUI.
3.) DTS Downmix to stereo is supported
4.) This model has the only Realtek 128x chip, better than the other realtek players as mentioned by other forums. On my 32" LCD, I feel PQ is better than my egreat 34a, more evident than when I compared HD Pro vs WD TV. I felt that images were focused more, or have better contrast. This has to be confirmed by the more experienced pinoydvd users who have a bigger LCD or projector.
5.) No hiccups playing huge .mkv and .mt2s files (20-30Gb per movie) via usb Mybook 1Tb
6.) Better zooming options, you can set to 1% increments both horizontal and vertical and saves the setting (wala sa HD Pro!)
7.) Navigation pressing the direction buttons goes +/- 30sec or 3min instantly (wala sa HD Pro!) You can also go to a particular time that you wish by pressing Goto and the numbers.
8.) Vs the WD TV, you can put an internal hard drive but only a 2.5" laptop HD which is more expensive than 3.5" HDs
9.) Optional wireless adapter (wasn't able to try this, walang kuryente 2pm onwards today)
10.) This product is popular in the AVS/AV forums. There's immediate feedback by manufacturer in the threads there. They have announced their future improvements in the coming firmware updates.
11.) The cheapest realtek media player that's available now!
Negatives:
1.) 2.5" HDs are more expensive than 3.5", still good to have an internal hard drive option than nothing at all.
2.) internal fan a bit noisy, but you can turn it off in the system settings.
3.) No component outputs, no coaxial for those who need it. I personally don't since I use HDMI even on the audio side.
4.) No power on/off and front panel buttons, so don't lose or break your remote.
5.) As of now no support for HD audio streaming like Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, DTS-MA, PCM multichannel, BD .iso but the manufacturer promises these things in future updates.
If someone asks me- "Do you regret buying the HD Pro?" My answer is No because I want a new realtek player that can accomodate an internal 3.5" HD. Kung walang HD Pro sa market, definitely this is my next option because of the price! I have extra 2.5" all around the house from macbooks that I upgraded already to a bigger HD.
If sabay ito lumabas, people will be divided to ordering this vs the HD Pro, internal HD vs better GUI and possibly better support, bigger casing vs portability.
Vs the Cinematube, mas mura Cinematube but you will have to wait for its arrival.

I agree on this. The cost of the 2.5" hard disk is high. It is not practical buying a 2.5" hard disk to be used in a media player. the cost of the 500GB 2.5" hard disk is around Php5k and I can already buy a 1TB 3.5" internal hard disk or external hard disk for that price.

hopefully this should not be the case coz i will be using my denon avr with this unit if proven to be more capable than the others. There will always be work-around but a less clutter set up is a plus for me :)
Can I follow up the issue on this player's reading capability over EXT/3 system. The ad says NTFS but according to leftover, the manual says this can read EXT/3. I hope this can be answered by Bitstream,. TY po :)
I checked out the Xtreamer forum and found a couple of posts from guys who had no picture on their TV's when connecting via HDMI 1080p/50Hz to Denon 4308 AVR's.
The last post (dated Sept 24) came from a moderator who advised:
after updating the firmware remember to go to the setting menu to do the step "Restore Default " if you did not do this step when you go Internet Youtube it will hang the player.
A few things strike me as being significant -
1. There were no more posts on the issue since then - though I have no idea if the problem was solved.
2. Out of the vast number of Xtreamer customers, only a couple of guys had HDMI handshaking issues - and both with the same Denon 4308 AVR. If there was a problem with ALL Denon AVR's, the message boards would be flooded with posts!
3. In the Philippines, we would be connecting through 1080p/60Hz - if by any coincidence you use a Denon 4308 AVR, there MAY be a possibility that you won't have the same issue
If you decide to purchase an Xtreamer, let me know if you have any problems using it with your Denon AVR

Xtreamer promised a Bittorrent client, but on a different occasion said that they will not offer one. Still no definitive answer. I believe that the Xtreamer community will probably have one soon. In fact, someone has already developed an NZBGET client for those who download files from Usenet groups. Usenet is way faster than Bittorrent.

No. Internet browsers require much more powerful CPU's and software to handle the variety of web pages and rich media on the internet. You'll have a more rewarding experience browsing the internet from your PC, with a keyboard and a mouse.
5. I have a USB Wifi dongle from CD-r king already. Will it work with the Xtreamer?
Probably not. The USB Wireless-N dongle used by the Xtreamer has a Realtek chip in it. The Xtreamer has a driver that allows access to it. Unless CD-R King uses the same chipset, it's unlikely that it will work.
6. Will this work without an internal HDD?
Yes, it will work without an internal hard disk. External hard disks can be accessed over the network in read/write mode. You can also stream content to the Xtreamer from your PC. Oh yeah... you can also pull in streaming content from the internet (e.g. YouTube, CNN, BBC, Fox, CNET TV, Cranky Geeks, etc)
7. If I connect a powered USB Hub and have several USB devices connected to the hub at the same time,

straight during the day without any problems or worries that it will overheat?
That depends on the ambient temperature in your room, in the first place. You can control the Xtreamer's internal fan speed - but if your room is hot, the air that you draw into the Xtreamer won't be as efficient in keeping it cool. As for noise... in a room with dead silence, you can hear the fan. You will hear the fan if you're actively seeking to hear it, especially if you crank up the fan speed. Give it some time; soon, you won't notice it at all. The fan on my PC makes way more noise than the tiny fan at the bottom of the Xtreamer.

I posted my findings about this earlier. You need the power adapter when using the Xtreamer as a portable drive.

The RTD1262/1282 additionally features Hybrid TV signal handling that combines analog and digital TV. It supports DVB-T/ATSC/NTSC/PAL/SECAM reception, recording, and timeshifting, enhanced media codec support, and provides an integrated HDMI transmitter.
The upcoming RTD1283 will include support for more high definition AV formats, such as H.264, VC-1, RM, etc, and will integrate more advanced interfaces.
The hardware has the capability of analog/digital signal decode and encode. However, Xtreamer's boss advised that the company has no current plans of developing PVR software.
Keep your fingers crossed that somebody in the user community will decide to port over a PVR application. Can't tell if it will happen... but it's a possibility.
On the fan... I haven't seen any reports of fan failures. I suppose the fans are built to last. I wouldn't worry too much about this. Spare fans will be available if needed.
On the remote control...yes, spares will be available if needed. Take note also, that the Xtreamer is supported by Logitech Harmony remote controls.

well i am lucky to have one which i bought from eric.
wala ako masabi, it beats the wdtv and egreatm34a hands down. fast recognition of usb sources, fast boot-up. pure quality is the same as any other nmt's. The GUI is so simple yet very intuitive. setup was a no-brainer.
Initially I cannot pump audio to my AV receiver but selecting HDMI audio to (OFF), sound was redirected to the Optical cable and DTS 6.1 came alive in my room! ahahaha. To listen to HDMI audio to your tv just select again HDMI (ON), and no sound comes out of your optical cable, only through HDMI.
over all, it is a great product for me. galing nito, none of the problems i think from other new realtek nmts.

i guess so.. haven't encountered stuttering yet on 1080p's.. the 42gb transformers2 plays without any hiccups..
I have read somewhere that the size of the movie file doesnt matter, as long as it was encoded according to the right bitrate/correct frames, otherwise kahit 8gb file lang yung movie kung 'encoded' at a higher bitrate/frames which is beyond the capability ng hardware, stutters will occur...correct me if i am wrong!
If its high bitrate, its most probable that it will have a bigger file size.
I have an AVR with Optical input only (no HDMI)... thus I'll need Xtreamer to output the audio from the optical connected to my AVR while the video signal is output through HDMI connected to my 32in LCD (tv volume off)...

Hi! Have you been able to successfully play your LOTR on another media player?
Have you updated your firmware to Ver. 1.0.3.1 ?
If you still have problems despite having done so, there's still hope for your LOTR file. Ver. 2 firmware update is due for release anytime now (granted that there won't be any delays). Hope that solves the playability problem.
With so many different ways of encoding files, I guess we were bound to bump into files that have issues. Depending on the files and the specific type of problem they bear, players can fall flat and react in different ways.
In the case of the Xtreamer, it's too bad that your LOTR necessitates that you reboot the device. Good news is, a reboot doesn't take much time (though it forces you to get off your couch).
Pls keep me posted if at some point in time, you are able to play the file without issues.

I don't believe it does. Still not sure whether Xtreamer will put in that capability themselves (though the device is certainly capable of doing it).
Somebody has already ported over NZBGET and made it available for the Xtreamer. It's for downloading content from Usenet groups. Way, way faster than torrents. It's the preferred channel for transferring large files. You can easily search the net to learn more about NZBGET and Usenet groups. There is a lot of legal, legitimate content on Usenet.

the xtreamer is now on harmony database. i was the one who provided it there the model i placed is xtreamer x1. ;D
use the logitech software on your pc. you can go to add device. for xstreamer, i believe they will put it on the media pc category (am not sure about this, but they put the popcorn there). so type in the brand name, model and category. then the software should do the set up automatically.
You may have a non-conforming encode of the movie. I'm not the expert on determining that... you will have to ask the community for assistance. Try to post the MediaInfo so that the encoding parameters can be analyzed and commented on.

A 500GB 2.5" internal HDD is the largest capacity that can be physically installed in the Xtreamer.
Current HDD's with higher capacity (i.e. 640GB and 1TB) are thicker - they won't fit inside the Xtreamer's housing.
If you're waiting for 1TB 2.5" internal drives to be available in the Philippines - don't!
This is getting interesting. I've a little request for sir bitstream though, instead of an hdmi, can you offer an optical cable for free? For us who don't have an hdmi-capable receiver yet :)but you'd still need an HDMI cable to connect it to your tv. :)

If you have rip a .iso image of the DVD, the answer is yes. The menu structure of the DVD is preserved; it will show up perfectly on the Xtreamer.

Comet yes you can manually set horizontal and vertical zooming by 1% increments to your preference and Xtreamer saves it for you. No one push- Auto-fit though. So you can zoom to make picture smaller so you get the widescreen and black bars, or zoom out to fill the screen vertically- picture cropped on the sides or not however you like it.

The "Xtreamer Side Cooler" is not an Xtreamer product... I think it's coming from a retailer in the United Kingdom. Unless there are many orders, it will be very expensive to ship. Only choice is to ship by courier.

... a notch on the stand would latch thru a hole near the fan, just slide it in and it fits perfectly. But imo it would be better to lay the unit on its side for the exhaust fan to work more efficiently, as the stand would impede the flow somehow when it is upright.
The stand locks into place.
If you are facing the front panel of the Xtreamer, you have to slide the base from back to front.
Push up on the base while sliding it forward so that the the small plastic tab on the base can engage the receiving slot in the Xtreamer.
Try to examine the inter-locking 'system' to save yourself time.

Got my extreamer yesterday...updated the firmaware. And set up the wireless connectivity. It got my wifi signal.
and i entered my wep password. So every thing is ok . But when of go to the menu and enter internet its not entering. Theres this red circle thats turning for a few seconds then it stops.
I need help on this... :)

why does it not support mkv chapters?my wdtv supports it..I have eagles concert and the songs are divided into chapters so its not hard for me to skip through songs..i can't do it in xtreamer..it only skips 30 secs or 3 mins..there is a chapter on the goto button but it does not work
Somebody posted a message (about the absence of .mkv chapter support) in the Xtreamer Official Forum. Keep your fingers crossed that this feature will be supporte in a future firmware update.
I too find the stand as a hindrance to the fan..I have some rubber feets so I might lay it on the side.
I'm not sure if it's necessary to lay it on its side, but I don't see any problem with doing so. I have not read about customer in other countries who have done that.
I like the remote..responsive and it has the frequently accessed menus such as preview, setup, menu etc
I also like the zoom function..it lets you increment the x and y axis independently
Loading time is fast..love it!
It also resumes the movie where you left it even if you turned off the unit..saves me some time on finding where I left off.
copying is also handy..but how come there is no delete??there is a delete button but I am not sure for what?
There is a a DELETE function. Press the '8' (FUNC) key on your remote to bring up the Function Menu.
I also like that there are developments on the product..the firmware support is great..I hope that they will accomplish everything they claimed..but I am confident they would.
I want to maximize this so ill be setting up a wireless netork on my parents house..It has so many features that I hope I can all utilize one some day.

Some of us moderators talked to the admin last night (I missed the chance watching a movie doh!), so walking through the chat log, here is an update for us waiting customers:
* FW is delayed a little bit. I couldn't find out from the log if this is referring to the current delay or if there will be another delay but he said little bit of delay. Update: Firmware is already with the beta-testers as of Oct. 16, 2009
* They have achieved breakthroughs in development concerning the used technologies and he doesn't use "breakthrough" for each feature. These improvements will bring new possibilities to our Xtreamers.
* Network speed issues have been solved.
* HD Audio (dts / Dolby) and FLAC issues have been solved. * Codebase has been optimized a lot and improvement is an ongoing process.
Other non FW 2.0 related news:
* One of the best iPhone/android development team was working with them on a mobile phone remote control solution for Xtreamer. Windows Mobile was also mentioned in an earlier chat.
* Official mod kit (passive cooling solution) will be announced soon.
Last but not least: they have more goodies in the queue...!

Thanks again Eric for the wonderful product. Already watched several movies from hundreds of my movies and it played flawlessly, not a single hitch or hiccup. Not even a problem with the 80gb Tranformers Fallen, really enjoyed it. PQ was way better than the previous ones I got.

While I havent noticed much on the net regarding WD's PQ being better than other NMTs, however I do recall some friends here saying that the PQ of WD is stunning.
I do have a WD and I cant help but to agree since I dont have any other media player to compare it to - but it certainly has its limitations which is why I'm leaning towards the Xtreamer.

biggest issue, xtreamer cannot read my hard drive which uses ext3 file system. rechecked the xtreamer specs and it says it supports it. what do i do now?????? ??? the light indicator on the hard drive is on so the connection is on...
no more Internet issue after the firmware update. Kainis lang smart bro ko tonight, very sluggish. Btw, sa Internet menus, when it is loading instead of the usual gif file turning around like a clock , I get a lemon colored box that turns to green. This is more on aesthetics.

tried the fw 2.0 beta. lots of improvement especially on the gui. internet is speedier as well. thing i don't understand is why they stick with the low resolution of the internet videos. it may take longer to load but at least give the customer the choice to maximize their displays.

Tvix6500 was based on Sigma also..
The admins said they tested all players in there labs and the picture quality was the same..

I like your Xtreamer very much (I'm already selling my other NMT) but with the humid and hot climate we have in the country some of us might end up not using and enjoying it as much. Unfortunately not everyone has airconditioned homes and this cooling device will be very useful.

I believe that not only can it extend the life of Xtreamer but the cooling device will very much help in minimizing performance issue or failures like hanging, sudden rebooting, other sofware failures and glitches that are normally brought about by too much heat.

Finally I could convert my hdd to ext3 and true enough xtreamer was able to read it.
So here goes my review...
PQ quality is outstanding. I found it better i guess based on default setting than egreat and hdpro. No hdmi handshake issues. The fan noise is there but I can't hear it since I'm normally 10 feet away so I set it at high. It's smaller than I expected.
Played everything except my transformers 17g mkv file which hanged the unit. Have to unplug the power adaptor and restart. Photo slideshow worked well just like hdpro.
In terms of GUI, I found the text too small on fw 2.0 kasi HD na sya. I hope they can adjust this for the final version. Ease of use is so-so. Changing chapters and substitles needs a few extra steps compared to the norm. Although the layout is fairly good, personally I still prefer a blue colored themed. Much cooler and more relaxing.
I also tried FW 2.0 beta. And here are my impressions.
1. Cleaner UI, but text size too small for my taste(if you use a small CRT tv, it might prove unreadable), probably they could add a setting for this.

2. Takes a bit longer to load than 1.0.3.1 -
NOTICED THIS TOO.
3. It hanged few of my movies that worked flawlessly on 1.0.3.1 (this is not good, despite the fact that this is only beta, this kind of issue should not have been there). What's bothering me is that those movies played on the PREVIEW but shows only blank screen when you play it. You need to unplug the unit to recover.
The good side(though im not sure if this is good), my LOTR-ROTK mkv that hangs on 1.0.3.1 now plays on 2.0b although same as HDPro, it manifests green pixelation all over the frame.
SO FAR, SA TRANSFORMERS PA LANG NAG HANG. THE PREVIEW PLAYED. TRIED 12G FILES WITH NO HITCHES.
After a few minutes of tinkering, I decided to revert the FW back to 1.0.3.1 because 2.0b it hanged a lot on more movies.
I'M STICKING WITH THE FW 2.0 BETA FOR NOW

Hi actually FW2.0.0b2 has mkv chapter support, maybe it's just not recognized with every mkv yet.
BUT...
only via the GOTO popup menu. Not by using the PREV/SKIP buttons, this is still not included as ahrensfd said.

Could you possible tell me the exact filename so I can search for that on the web? Hopefully I can find a match. Usually nakakalat lang yan sa Internet and there is a possibility I can pickup the same file.

Pardon me but this is my opinion on using beta FW.
There is a reason why it is called "beta". It may not necessarily be the same when the "official" FW is released.
Let us not expect so much from it and let us not be conclusive about it.
Unless we participate as beta testers and provide test results to the developers, it may not be fair to pre-judge the final release based on the betas. This goes for any NMT and not just Xtreamer.
I'm not fond of using betas as I know there will possible problems with it. I'd rather get the finished FW afterwards and then complain if I find problems with it.
But then that is just me. :)

We are not trying to bust FW2.0, we just gave our impressions. As I have said on my previous post, Im not expecting much on this because this is still in beta stage. I would definitely understand if the problem is with the new features, but here the problem lies on the main purpose of it, that is to play HD movies. Funny thing is, the ones that were not able to play and hanged were played flawlessly on the previous version. ;D
So I reverted the FW back to 1.0.3.1, and will wait for the official release. ;) Then I would bust it to the max if that issue still exist!!! :D

Was able to use it already...no sweat, was able to watch youtube, get the weather, watch international news and other stuff except when i click on the the NET, it's asking for my account and password, I'm not sure where to get it since I didn't put any in my pc. Good to know it was a "no-sweat" set up for you. I'm not quite sure where to look... what OS are you running on your PC? My PC has been configured to share an entire hard drive; I can browse it from the Xtreamer without having to enter an account name and a password.

eTRAYz is a full-blown NAS, with approx. the same functions as NETGEAR,
QNAP and SYNOLOGY equipment - but at a much lower price.
It's not as indispensable as the media player itself - so the market is going
to be much more limited ... to people with media players, with router and
internet access, with cash to invest in an eTRAYz and at least a 2TB hard
drive x 1.
The buyer needs to have some technical skills in order to make full use the ff:

It's a pretty powerful piece of equipment, but not everybody will need or have the
capability to use it. Mura lang nga... so even if you just use it for shared storage,

I read from avs and xtreamer forums that it has compatibility issues with denon avrs hdmi. Please pm me the details as well. A hacker took a peek into the Xtreamer firmware and found that the Transmission BitTorrent client is incorporated, but has not been enabled by Xtreamer. As of today, we still don't know whether the function will be officially enabled. Read on below on speculation as to why Xtreamer might be reluctant to enable it:

of 25 KB/s makes this client totally useless...
Me: It's not a problem of a BT client being unavailable to Xtreamer... it seems to be part of the standard Realtek Software Development Kit (SDK) provided to manufacturers who use Realtek chipsets in their media players. Rather, it appears that Xtreamer is unwilling to enable a feature with poor performance. This will not meet users' expectations and will ultimately be detrimental to Xtreamer. I may be wrong - but so far, it seems to make sense.

I'm getting maximum speed of 380kbps sa source ko. But 25kbps? Tama si Bitstream di bale na lang. :) Baka malaspag pa yung xtreamer sa tagal nun lalo na puro mkv's lang ang interest ko.

to other users of this media player, how's the volume of dts mkv files on your non-digital speakers? Yung sakin kasi I connected it via composite cable, and ang hina nung volume. Naka max na, pero medyo mahina pa din. Pero sa speakers ko sa room na may optical and dts capable, ok naman.
Thanks for the Reply Bitstream. I played a 720p mkv of Up, and ang ganda ng picture. Unlike nung sa wdtv, medyo matapang yung kulay and the brightness of the mkv's differ, lalo na sa animated movies. Dito stable yung picture. Thanks kay ditoy_eagle for referring this player to me.
This is discussed in the Xtreamer Official Forum; the "weak volume" is directly attributable to the data stream being sent to the audio system.
Set the Xtreamer for 2-channel output instead of 5.1 surround audio.
The volume control on you Xtreamer RC should work... try adjusting it.

I posted this on Xtreamer forum. Regarding a broken or lost remote. Anyway, have you or anybody tried any other remote control (a universal rc please) or device (wireless keyboard of mouse) that works with the Xtreamer.

i suggest changing your wi-fi routers' antenna, i have a 9db antenna ( approximately 8 inches in height ) installed instead of the original antenna. bought mine from cdr-king for P250 last year. i think there's a 16db or more already, get this instead.

ganun nga sir. updated my Xtreamer na to ver2.0 na. was hoping that the 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio ng 42GB Transformers 2 would be utilized, as in previous versions DTS lang ung na display ng AVR. next firmware update then. ;D but the good thing is that the subtitles is already recognized, before ver2.0, hindi pa recognized ung built-in subtitle ng Transformers 2. by the way, dis is m2ts file.

I've tried setting digital audio to 2ch in the settings menu, but it doesn't work. Is there a work around on this? Baka conversion? Not really familiar kasi with file conversions.

I am using a wireless-N DLINK model DIR-655. I guess, this means I am better off using the old wireless-G D-LINK? Isn't the Realtek dongle for this already wireless-N ?

Yup secret myth yan :D Ive tried pressing the audio button, but di talaga ma recognize yung 2ch audio, unlike dun sa wdtv. Bro kindly give me a step by step on muxing using mkvmerge. Medyo madami kasi ako mp4 files eh.
Regardless of whether your router is G or N, it shouldn't be a problem. It will be detected.what is this serviceshield bro?
I think there's a problem with where your files are located.
Did you guys install the serviceshield? Is your xtreamer networked via wi-fi? I can easily play 720p or 1010ps smoothly via wi-fi from my desktop hdd thru the xtreamer. All my files are located in " My Shares " of the desktop hdd.

i tried connecting thru two diff PC's, one with winxp and the other win7. both pc's wired connected to G router.. and the xtreamer thru wifi.. same issue with 720p/1080p.. only low res avi can be played..
i tried ad-hoc, meaning another wifi N dongle connected to both PC via usb, it has improvements but still cannot play 720p's properly..
it could not be the distance or signal since i tried it wherein they are just 3 ft away..

One more thing, install serviceshield in every computer you have ( i.e desktop and laptops ) and be sure it's connected everytime you want to stream. :)
I tried to load this on the Vista PC (Acer X3200) and during installation it prompts for a user id and password for the Xtreamer device (I think)... however, I don't recall setting anything in particular for this... would you know what default id and pwd that I should use?

i attached a cable to the antenna and placed it topmost of my rack. reloaded the 2.01 firmware and whoah.....i can now do wi-fi streaming again. seems like the dongle-antenna lacks range. :)

Yup ordinary cable lang. I suggest putting it on top of your rack para mas maganda wi-fi reception.Let me know if you need further help.

What settings do you guys use when linking the xtreamer to a crt? I tried connecting mine to a 29" crt and putol sya no matter what TV out setting I use. Sorry po newbie :)
Got my xtreamer last friday and so far so good. Im not video/audio phile and just a regular joe so happy ako with the limited testing.
My only complaint for now on the xtreamer is the remote control. Overall, for me its not just as intuitive as your usual tv, dvd player remotes. I find myself pausing and looking for the buttons that I need to use.

Xtreamer connected to crt tv so ang audio output is yun speakers din lang ng tv problem is pag regular scenes medyo mahina yun talkies kaya pag inilakas ko yun volume ng konti pag nagkarun ng action yun scene sobra lakas naman ng sound. Sana nga lahat ng movies me subtitles malaki rin sana ang tulong kung meron nun.

I tried this briefly. I shared a bluray rom in our local network, accessed the bluray files in the xtreamer and tried playing the files (.mxx is the extension, i forgot exactly) and it was quite good. you need to install 'anydvd' to get around bluray copy protection. I just tried this briefly to see if it is possible, trial version lang kasi 'anydvd' ko... but yes, it is possible to play a bluray disk directly.

Was able to use the xtreamer 2 night now watching cartoons with my daughter and some tv series.
I noticed one problem, some of the videos I've watched the past 2 days have instances where they are "twitching". These "twitch" (sorry dont know the right term) came very fast, blink of an eye fast. Currently it happens intermittently and only the video is affected, the audio is not. A scene will just goes berserk very very quickly... in dvd/cd terms, tumalon yung picture very very fast... dont know how to describe it but the video is just not flawless on cases you expect it to be. Is this what you call hdmi handshake issue? I did notice that the problem did not appear when I used the composite cables so for now Im thinking it has something to do with the hdmi cable/connectivity.
Currently at version 2.0.1 and have reset defaults just in case you might ask.

Formatting will not create any sub-folders. You have a free hand in creating and naming them as you wish.

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to do - can you shed some light?
I haven't messed around with playlists yet - are you referring to a video playlist, a music playlist or a 'default' playlist for slideshows (that comes into play when there is no specific music playlist in the folder)?

- Have you tried using a different HDMI cable? - Not yet, will try this tonight.
- Can you try connecting the Xtreamer to another TV? - not yet. Although we only have one tv with an hdmi port. The others are crt and since the problem is not occurring using composite connection Im not sure if its even worth testing it. As it is the problem does not occur when using composite cables on our lcd tv.
Will do further test tonight using a different cable. If you guys have other ideas do let me know :)

Hi I had the same flickering problem every 5-10 seconds on my panasonic s10. it was fixed when i upgraded my firmware last week (followed instructions on restore factory settings before and after). there seems to be a problem on a specific firmware version.
history:
- my original firmware didnt have this problem
- when 1st upgraded the firmware (cant recall what version), it manifested the problem
- 2nd upgrade with restore factory settings before and after upgrade; on a newer fimrware - fixed problem

I checked the Xtreamer Official Forum (where you have posted). Other users have successfully implemented playlists even in diskless Xtreamers. It appears that the playlist functionality is working ok.
The gist of the discussions:
Be careful to use 'relative' (as opposed to 'absolute') references to file locations. And make sure you put the playlist file in the correct directory.

Sir Bitstream, I have been playing with your Xtreamer since i bought it from you last October. I have an internal HDD and a USB HDD. How could I merge the contents of both HDD so i could see everything on the file list of the GUI without going to the menu to select HDD or USB?

I have a small problem though. The stand does not lock into place on the side. So it is like its just balancing on the stand. Is this how it is suppose to be? I see there is a small lip that fits in a hole in the groove on the side but it does not seem to reach it. How am I suppose to attach the stand then? I tried to see if I could slide it does not go down deep enough. Help!
Also just noticed that I did not get a user manual just a quick user guide.

No problem with detection of external drives, I've tried the 3.5" & 2.5" as well as thumb drives.
What I noticed is the prolonged boot up as compared to the HD Pro(isn't it the Xtreamer should boot faster? )and yes after the FW 2.0 update. :-\ :P

I have the band of brothers, I'm not sure if it's the HDDVD encodes(I didn't check, used to play them on my Acer, and I played them on my HDPro,wherein they played, fine). I am presently at work,and I will just update the thread once I get home and test them.thanks bro! if you havent edited the titles yet it should indicate it there (if you downloaded them personally). if not then while using kmplayer (i believe other media players have this option too), try to right click on the screen and choose the option media info. that should pull up everything including the actual resolution, bitrates and audio type etc. . :D :D
BTW...how will I know if they're sourced from HDDVD?...just the label?

Hi Eric, I emailed a pic of the Digibox and its remote. There's no real discernible brand and model on the unit itself except fora label underneath that says it's made by Intergo. The remote appears generic too, and except for the actual buttons, it's exactly the same as the remote provided with the Eye TV Hybrid TV tuner for the mac. Hope this helps. :)
Btw, I'm having trouble accessing the files on both the internal and external drives connected to the Xtreamer over the network on my mac.
Myxtreamer appears as a share, clicking on it opens up a window with 2 folders: sda2, sdb2. If I click on either, nothing appears and the "wait, currently accessing" symbol just keeps on flashing. Any settings I should check, change? Thanks!

Yes, you can leave it on 24/7 in NAS mode. If the room temp is comfortable for people, it's generally ok for consumer electronics as well. Make sure your equipment is not exposed to direct sunlight.hi bro, nice meeting you yesterday. :)

Same here, bro.first glance at the product, i was quite impress . i think its the hardwares limitation though (torrent capability), ill try to read it off (the link) and weigh my options :)
At this time, the Xtreamer boss doesn't seem to want to enable a torrent client on the device. Tests have shown that torrent operations take up too much CPU cycles, thus slowing down other functions (drive sharing, Universal Plug and Play, remote access, etc.) This performance hit is true not only for the Xtreamer, but for other Realtek-based devices as well.

Just two things:
(a) What is NZBGet and what's it for?
(b) After the unit played 720p video streaming via WiFi without a hitch for about 6 hours yesterday, the video slowed to a CRAWL. This morning, I noticed the same problem after about an hour of use. While turning the unit off and pulling out the adapter plug for few seconds yesterday seemed to solve the problem, this workaround didn't work today. What gives?

On the issue of hard drive access over the network..... is your Xtreamer connected to your router via wi-fi? If the signal strength is too low, it could cause what you're experiencing. Try moving the Xtreamer closer to your router (or experiment with hard-wiring it).
Don't leave the USB slave cable attached when you're also on Ethernet (whether wired or wireless).

My X is hooked up to my denon avr by hdmi cable. Do I still need to hook up by optical cable to get full 5.1? Will I be even happier if I do?
Hi Bitstream, my xtreamer is connected to my wifi-G router via cable. I've tried to access it from my MacBook Pro via wired and via wifi, both with no success.
My WD TV Live is connected the same way and I have no problems accessing their files from my MacBook Pro. Strangely enough, I use the xtreamer wifi dongle on the HD Pro, and have no problems with access either.
Re the Digibox, what I've been able to observe is that the xtreamer remote accesses the SkyCable menu guide and it also seems to be able to change cable channels.
The SkyCable remote affects the xtreamer as follows:
- Info button switches the xtreamer on and off
- Exit button opens up the volume slider and raises the volume by 1
- Vol+/Right arrow button mutes the xtreamer
- Fav button brings up the Media Library screen (USB, HDD, NET, etc)
- Vol+/yellow button goes back to the main menu
- P-/green button brings up the Media Library screen (USB, HDD, NET, etc)
I don't know if specific button combinations will do something else (hopefully nothing that changes settings or affects files) or if other (single) button presses will have any other effect depending on where one is on the xtreamer.

If the Xtreamer and its files are visible and accessible from the other media players, then you do not have a hardware problem.
1. What FW version are you running on the Xtreamer?
2. What version of Mac OS X are you running?
3. Make sure the USB Slave Cable is not attached when accessing the Xtreamer over the LAN

Go to the A/V menu on your Xtreamer and change the Audio output to 5.1.
If the settings were incorrect, the Xtreamer may have been downmixing your audio to 2-ch stereo.

Merong ac3 file na included, but separate. Pwedeng i-play yung audio file just like sa music library, but hindi ma recognize when playing the movie. parang nakahiwalay. sa WDTV ko dati, na recognize naman yang ganyan na files na may AC3 and DTS.

Query on Slideshow - Background Music...
Before upgrading to FW 2.02, I had no problem with this feature. But with 2.02, it seems it stopped "working".
- checked my settings if Slideshow - Background Music is set to Playlist.. it is.
- checked my Playlist folder, they're ok. Had them played to be sure.
- but during slideshow, there's no background music.
To put a background music, what I do now is to play an MP3, then run the slideshow... ;D
Is this a documented "issue" or am just missing some setting/s here?

Noob question po. paano ko mapalabas yung 5.1 sound sa audio? Im using RCA now, do i need to use optical? my HT is samsung Ht250 ata yun no HDMI in. Meron lang syang RCA and optical in.
just connect the hdmi from the xtreamer directly to the flat panel, this will handle the video, as for the audio, yes, you can use the optical input of the samsung then connected to the xtreamer's optical output. you should get 5.1 audio, as long as your video files are encoded with surround sound.

This is only true if you set digital audio output to 5.1; if ouput is set to 2 channel, there is no problem.
i am disappointed with this release though. going back to 2.0.2. I hope this gets sorted out soon

Conclusion
While a more capable product on paper than the WDTV Live, the reality is that the Xtreamer is an inferior device where it counts the most – performance when playing a wide range of media formats. It’s all well and good offering support for every codec under the sun and an internal drive mount, but if the chipset at the heart of the device can’t cope with those files, then it’s not much use. While the 2.5in drive mount and ability to work as a networked storage device are very welcome, they shouldn’t have come at the sacrifice of being able to play every file that can be thrown at the Xtreamer. We should say that SD and 720p content did play flawlessly, however.
The main problem was with 1080p content, and we tried numerous high bit-rate videos only to find the Xtreamer stuttered or pixelated during playback, or just simply failed to play the file. The Western Digital WDTV Live played the same high bit-rate files without issue. We also found the interface of the Xstreamer to be confusing and irritating.
As such, the Xtreamer is a capable, but ultimately flawed media streamer, and while the WDTV Live packs less features on paper, it’s the far stronger candidate for your media playing needs thanks to superior playback abilities and a cleaner, easier to navigate interface.
hmmmm...strange... ??? ano kayang 1080p files ang ginamit ng bit-tech when they tested the Xtreamer. so far, my 1080p files(bitrate=10Mbps-14.9Mbps) are playing smoothly.i think ung 60Mbps bitrate.

Not to bash Xtreamer, I have a number of 720 & 1080 files that is problematic on it.
and even divx/xvid files too!
Yun fan ko din maingay actually, but ONLY on startup. After around 30 seconds, it quiets down so I have no complaints there. :)

And yes, I'm going to keep complaining about this until it's resolved regardless of whatever background contractual crap you say is going on (should have been resolved before launch). It was, and still is, listed as a feature on your main site after all and was one of the main reasons I bought the Xtreamer.

So xtreamer now fails in all 3 main areas for a High Definition capable media box:
1) Video - Lack of "DTS MA or Dolby TrueHD audio passthrou" - Other boxes can, you've got the license whats the problem now ?
2) Music - No playback via upnp and no new (promised) Music Jukebox
3) Photos - Constantly going into slideshow mode. Basic in the extreme.
I've had several family and friends ask me for a modern media playback box, I can't honestly recommend xtreamer as a total solution at this point. That's an embarrassing state to be in this far down the f/w revision line!
please please please please please please fix something worthwhile !

P580 lang, eSata and USB2, and works well with the Xtreamer and my 1Tb drive.Wow! It works with a 1TB HDD? I wonder why cd-r king lists it as maxing out at 500GB?

I unhooked the 5-meter HDMI cable from the back of my PC and connected it to my new Xtreamer unit. The display on my 24" LCD monitor was distorted when it is set to 1080p (60Hz/50z), and no display when connected to my projector.
No display issues on both LCD monitor and projector when Xtreamer is set to 720p. I tried using the short HDMI cable bundled with my Xtreamer and it worked fine at 1080p/720p.

its there bro. in www.xtreamer.net, move ur cursor to the Downloads tab, a drop down menu appears, move ur cursor to Xtreamer, another menu appears, click "firmware", it will redirect you to the firmware list, click FW 2.1.1 ;)Thanks. Sa KB pala ako naghahanap. :D

I don't bother to upgrade FW anymore (stuck myself to 2.0)..I hoped to high for this product and one of the early buyers (high price)..still a great player for movies..but what I want is the one stated by keeper..its that selling point which is why I opted to buy this..
i'll just be patient and hopefully it pays off..
If you decide to stick with FW Ver 2.0 or 2.0.1, take note that sharing
your drive(s) over NFS protocol opens you up to potential loss of data.

My copy of Back to the Future 1 has lots of jitters/flickers or whatever you call it, and I've seen one flicker in the middle part of the screen in the first few minutes of 300 (the movie). Also some minor flickers in Transformers 2 plus a scene where Sam's face (left part) appeared to have yellow neon paint on it.
Still, I'm adamant, despite my friend (who gave me the movies and who uses a WDTV Live) saying that he there are no such flickers on the said movies. :((
Note that I'm using a 32LH70YR with Trumotion on (I think -- hehehe. di ko pa kasi ginalaw masyado, pero yung mga movies, parang documentary/LIVE ang dating, e, so I'm thinking Trumotion is ON by default).

Sir, this feature has long been working on TVIX M6500 ... i've tested TrueHD earlier this year, and DTS-HD when I was reviewing the Xtreamer - I think it was the Sony demo blu-ray rip that has the DTS-HD audio ... confirmed on actual use, not just on paper

It would be better if you could check the model number of the Hitachi HDD to make sure that it is a normal 2.5 SATA. You could post it out here and I'll try to help you find more info about your HDD ;)

Patulong din po regarding 5.1 audio. I connected the Xtreamer to my AVR (Denon 887) via HDMI cable. HDMI audio and 5.1 DTS are turned ON. Some of my files are detected by the AVR as 5.1 (DD,DTS) while some are not (note: i checked these files as having 5.1 channels in VLC media player). Input is set to AUTO on the AVR. Kapag 2 CH lang nade-detect, lumalabas sa avr is DIRECT. I tried using PCM, but still the same. My firmware version is 2.1.3.
Is there a setting on the avr that I missed? Should I use an optical cable instead for the audio? Weird lang kse OK naman yung output ng ibang files ko.
Some files that are detected as 2-CH only are The.Dark.Knight.2008.720p.BluRay.DTS.x264-ESiR and King Kong 2005 Extended Cut 720p BluRay-3Li.

From what I know, you may install the latest one directly. I went from 2.1.1 to 2.1.3, skipping 2.1.2 altogether.
Pls try/consider the ff:
1. Turn off HDMI audio on the Xtreamer, then try using an optical cable for the digital surround audio. Set your AVR to Auto. Try it on DTS 5.1 also. If it works, try replacing your HDMI cable then try again (turn on HDMI audio on the Xtreamer first)
2. If the audio streams of the same files are consistently unable to be recognized by the AVR, please consider that there may be a problem with the encode
3. If you have some files that are consistently able to send DTS 5.1 to the AVR, it reinforces the suspicion about No. 2
4. Check out forum.xtreamer.net for assistance/suggestions from the worldwide community

I used an optical cable and some of my DTS files worked. :) Other files, however, are still not recognized by the AVR as 5.1. :(
I will try to downgrade my firmware and test.

No need to do anything. Just play your movies and they'll be automatically upscaled to the Xtreamer's output resolution.

Yes this will work. As long as your PC recognizes the disc in the drive, then the xtreamer should play it.
oh so u would play it manually, would there be any way to play the dvd menu? so i wont be going into the subfolders?

Anyone here experiencing 1080p/60 issues with the latest firmware? Connected to an LG Scarlet LH70, I notice very minor (but still a bit distracting) flickering at regular intervals. Other resolution settings are OK. And then when I do resolution switching on the fly, then go back to 1080p/60, everything works fine for a while I think, then eventually problem comes back.
I hope this is firmware-related, and not the hardware. And I'm sure it's not the TV coz the WDTV Live works perfectly on this same setup, same resolution settings.

Amazingly, I found a setting that solves the 1080p flickering issue with the LG LH70, and it's surprisingly simple: Turn the HDMI Chromo Subsampling option ON, instead of AUTO. I'm not sure exactly what this option does, but sure solved the flicker problem for me! :)

I have read conflicting reviews regarding video streaming of HD videos from a PC through wireless. One review even said it failed miserably. Can someone enlighten me regarding this?
One of the key features I really need, and probably the most important one, is the wireless streaming of HD videos through our network. Ethernet cable is not an option. Our setup is all computers connected (with Wireless-N dongles) to a 300Mbps Wireless N Router (TPLINK TL-WR941ND). Would this be enough for a smooth wireless 1080p video playback on the xtreamer? ???

What NAs are you using? I have no problems streaming 1080p mkvs showing up to 22mb/sec video and 1.5mb/sec audio on my dns 323 and up to 30mb/sec m2ts from my pc

Can i download youtube videos in my xtreamer and save it in my internal HD?
Try MakeMKV, it creates mkv files out of your DVD (You will probably end up with the same size). But if you want to make it smaller and have a lot of time (takes time to encode), use TMPGEnc Express to encode it to DiVX. You have a DVD decrypting software installed right?

Pero teka, you're planning to connect the Xtreamer to the Apple Express via ethernet. Edi talo ka na agad? ;) ;D Sabagay, having a wireless bridge somewhere in the network may imply that you are streaming wirelessly even though the player is wired to the wireless bridge. ;)
What about other "portable" n class router? Im seeing a lot of those these days. Probably cheaper than Apple's.
i also noticed that in the user guide color blue yung LED when the unit is ON while mine is:
red - off
blinking orange - while booting
green - On

I can't seem to make it work, I already playing with port forwarding setting of both my DSL and Wireless Router but to no avail. When I try to access it via web, it was not able to forward it to the assigned xtreamer IP.

Probably your firewall is blocking it. You should also get a success message if your DDNS has been accepted (ie, username might have been taken already).

Hi! is there any work around for mac user and xtreamer. Most of my media are downloaded from my mac. I can't transfer files larger than 4GB to my FAT32 formatted HD. Is there a way for my xtreamer to access the movies through LAN?

I've just upgraded,and it my Xtreamer cannot play my The Clone Wars season 1 MKV (4 disc set 22 episodes) indicating a GMC error. :'( :-\
......anyway, I've already converted the file to Divx, which the Xtreamer plays well, I was just hoping that the upgrade will be able to improve the FW to play this particular file.

Would love to update here as well but will wait and see what others are experiencing with the latest update. The only problem I am experiencing with my current FW (2.1.3) is the Xtreamer doesn't remember the setting on my Aspect Ratio.

Updated the firmware with no issues. Seems to be the boot-up is a bit faster now, and so is the HDD detection via USB. The settings were reset back to their default values though...I had to recall my previous setup prior to the update. Any idea what's the Ken Burns slideshow effect and what the Noise Reduction feature does? Sana may update din dun sa Media Jukebox.
My firmware update went smoothly as well and here's a real improvement;

FYI. The xtreamer antenna also works on the PCH A-200 BTW. That means I can just leave 1 antenna in the house for those times I need to move one nmt to a room without fixed ethernet cables.

Isa lang condition ko, I'd provide the 1080p data (guaranteed premium ones encoded by the best groups) and everything must play flawlessly and completely via wireless streaming.

I noticed that in 2.2 youtube became problematic. A lot of videos unable to play. The internet radio became slow, at madalas putol putol unlike in 2.0 it plays smooth always.

i only tried playing 1 folder of pixar's short 720p mkv... and went fine.
got back here in singapore (work here)... now my son had emailed me that the xtreamer keeps on hanging.
he tried to play "ffvii: advent children complete 1080p" and hang in the beginning of the movie.
thought that maybe it was only the file... instructed to try other movies...tried playing "time travler's wife 720p mkv" still same problem.
could this be because of the firmware 2.2?
i had put 2.2, 2.02, & 2.0 inside the internal hd....would it better to downgrade back to 2.02?
if only for playing movies....which is the stable and recommended firmware version...

I'm in the market for a media player and a dvd or bluray player for my 2nd set up. To save some moolah is it possible to play dvds or bluray discs on an external dvd/bluray drive connected via usb to the Xtreamer? (I already have an external drive hence this inquiry)

There's also an issue that I frequently encountered with my old Linksys router (wireless-G pa) - my PC connection drops when another wi-fi device is connected, pero it comes back again in a few seconds ...it's actually noticeable if you're just browsing, nakikita ko lang sa utorrent na biglang drop yung send & receive for a few seconds...if this is the case, you can also try connecting other devices via wi-fi
Question in updating the firmware:
I followed the instruction given their website. download the zip file, extract it in a folder, copy in the USB drive, mount the USB to the xtreamer, go to settings/network/firmware (ata forgot the exact option name), select USB and point to where the firmware installer.
My problem is that when i choose the folder in the USB drive where the firmware installer is located, the Xtreamer does not show any files it recognizes, which i think is the install.xtr.
did i miss anything?

I have a Harmony One remote, a Samsung LCD TV and the Xtreamer.
What I am trying to accomplish is to setup and activity which involves the LCD & Xtreamer. Problem relies with the LCD not recognizing the input if the device connected to it is not on, the Xtreamer is connected via HDMI.When I choose the activity, it turns on the Xtreamer (which takes some time to boot) and the LCD TV (which will not detect the HDMI, as the Xtreamer is still booting up). I tried searching for solutions on the NET (which involves setting up a delay before the TV receives an IR command) but seems that it's not working. Maybe someone could point me out where I am doing it wrong.

I don't have the same problem with my xtreamer and Panasonic plasma but maybe because I switch on additional devices like the AVR before switching the TV to the right HDMI input. As a workaround, what if you switch the TV to cable/free TV first, before switching to the HDMI input for the xtreamer--to add delay to the process?

Sirs pa advise naman. I am currently using my Xtreamer with my 500 GB Seagate portable hard disk via USB. What is the best way to remove the HD via USB? What I normally do is I just switch off the Xtreamer and remove the HD. But my problem is when I insert the HD to my PC or Laptop it always says it needs to be fixed, which means that the HD was not not properly removed.

OT ...Im dont own extreamer nmt. but I read much of this thread & it seems most of NMT dealers we have here in PDVD Xtreamer has the most active support thru Bitstream. Though Im happy with my current NMT I envy those who have xtreamer,why? because there's always new with this stuff & some issues answered so fast. keep it up! Bitsream. 8)
If it's a new Xtreamer, please attach the RCA (red/white/yellow) cables then set the TV output settings (of the Xtreamer) to the correct HDMI output resolution to match your LG.
After that, you can remove the RCA cables.

I thought for a while that the issue has already been fixed but its happening again.While watching, the screen suddenly goes black and displays no signal.I have to reattach/adjust the connection of the HDMI cable at the back of the Xtreamer for the image to return.By the way, I'm not using the included stand so my Xtreamer is placed flat horizontally on a table.
Could it be a case of a faulty HDMI cable?I'm using the one included in the package.I've done the steps suggested above.Anyone here having the same problem and who has theirs placed horizontally flat?Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

I have updated to 2.3.1 but couldn't open the webpage of the media server. Going back to 2.2
err... remember that with this release, web server, ftp, and upnp is off by default. if you need to access xtreamer with your web browser, remember to turn on web server (and ftp if you need the functionality).
I was playing around with 2.3.1 and all my usual test worked this time. I confirmed that the flac bug is gone.

I downgraded to 2.1.3 and the AUDIO hiccups are gone.

One of the few files my Xtreamer is struggling to play is The Sky Crawlers 1080p, audio is good, but the picture turns to blocky colored squares. I have a few 1080p files and the Xtreamer handles them quite admirably. This is all thru streaming from (PC - lan - switch- lan - Xtreamer).these blocks are usually caused by bad encodes or encodes that are not "compatible" with the codec.
May naka test na ba nitong file? ;D
IMO this issue will not be a really big deal if they handle the issue with honesty..when people raise questions concerns on the xtreamer forums..normally they won't answer..kung meron man vague..or minsan medyo panget ang sagot..

been a popcorn hour user for the past two years and am very happy with it. but two years in this hobby of ours is considered light years already. time to move on. saw the etrayz nas that was selling very competitively and decided to take the plunge. pairing it with the right media player, i was deciding on xtreamer or the new popcorn a-200.
decided on the xtreamer because of its promise that it will have seamless operation with the etrayz which comes from the same manufacturer.
first impression, the etrayz is not for the faint of heart, not easy to set up, am lucky i got it up and running, but there are still quirks i have to fix, but at least its up and running. i can access the hard disk from anywhere through the internet, from my home network, i can now wirelessly stream my flac audio to my bedroom diy audio setup through my netbook-super pro dac combo. and off course wirelessly stream my videos through the xtreamer. streams 720p flawlessly, stutters on 1080p, am glad i use 720p videos mostly.
the xtreamer, is a very small machine, compared to the popccorn, its build quality is nothing to crow about. its plasticky and light as a feather. but setting up was a breeze. upgraded to fw 2.2 before firing it up for video testing.
i like the gui, not as cool as the previous popcorn blue, this one is red and black combo. but i liked that it can display a lot of movies on screen and if you have a jpeg file, it will show as a huge thumnail/poster. and once you select the folder, it also has a preview pane for the movie, other realtek based player, can only display 3-4 movies at one time. its booting time is considerably faster than the old popcorn, which is welcome, i think from turning it on to recognizing the etrayz and my book hdds to watching is less than 30 seconds. the auto handshake between etrayz and xtreamer worked as promise, although you can use other network sharing options like nfs, the etrayz tab option provided the most stable streaming option. i think the makers optimized the settings for this. and since i am not a techie guy, i am happy with this. have not tried the other functions extensively, watch a couple of internet tv (works), the internet radio is pretty cool too, lots of commercial free stations.
overall, am happy with my new media player - nas combo. movies galore!

The PS3 readily recognizes the Xtreamer and it's really advantageous if you have an internal disc installed, however, I also attached an external HD and it was also readily recognized.

Im currently testing it in my office using our projector thru composite. di madetect ng projector. but i tried the dvd player thru composite ok namn. red light lang nakikita ko sa xtreamer ko. nothing happens even if i press the power button. the red light remains lit. any idea whats wrong? TIA

There is no need to get an internal HD, but why wouldnt you want one?
BTW, etrayz looks huge. I will try to avoid it as much as I can. Maybe I am not seeing the advantage of having one and some of you guys could open my eyes to it.
I like Xtreamer because it is so compact and I can carry it to my friends' house to watch movies and stuff. It´s like carrying a book. So the internal HD gives it mobility... if you are interested in that.

Blinking red light with the logo means you connected the usb as slave, not as host.
Use the regular size usb fto connect your external HDD for your Xtreamer to be the as host...if you connected to the small usb to your external, then your Xtreamer becomes the slave to a PC, thus the Logo and blinking red light. ;)

Di kaya remote ang problem sir? have you tried the digital camera trick? look at the remote control "eye" through a digital camera, then press the power button. if it lights up, then the remote is ok. If it doesn't light up, the remote is the culprit.youre right sir remote prob lang pala. i tried that trick tho, nagbblink naman yung remote.

Just bought a 320Gb WD Scorpion Blue 2.5" HDD yesterday. Installed it this morning, and formatted using the Xtreamer. I've copied about 70Gb worth of files this morning, and all seems ok. I'll let you know if there's anything "undesirable" which might happen.
Got the 320Gb for P2,900 at a store in Cyberzone Megamall. Cheapest one I've seen in TPC is P2,550 for 320Gb (Seagate). FYI lang.
Ok i got a problem. I'm used to playing mkv files on my xtreamer. My friend gave me some of those 1.5gb+ Secretmyth, mp4, files a few days ago and i started playing them. Strangely, they only gave me "stereo" sound as seen on the receiver. I've tried to play with the settings but no go, only stereo.
I tried with my ps3 and they are indeed in 6 channel format along with looking at the properties in the PC. What could be wrong?
EDIT: I tried playing with the audio options, changed it from DTS/DOLBY 5,1 to AAC/OGG/PCM 5.1 and the receiver outputted PCM and i got the surround sound. However, whenever I try to play my mkvs the mkvs NOW just play stereo.
My only solution was to switch the audio back and forth for every file type. Is there a better solution?

Same thing, different extension. DOS has traditionally only allowed 3-digit extensions. These days however, there are so few DOS-based systems floating around that you can more or less have any extension you like. However, there is a counterpoint. Windows uses the extension to detrmine the mimetype of a file, so the extension does still matter on those systems. 'jpeg' is still an acceptible extension though. Linux, Unix, Mac, and other systems determine the mimetype by looking at the content rather than the extension, so it doesn't matter nearly as much on those systems. A filename extension, if any, would only be superficial and for the benefit of the user.

Hi anyone had a problem with an incorporated 2.5 HDD?
Ever since I upgraded my FW to 2.3, The Xtreamer (virus???) started corrupting my video files.
What I did was take out the HDD and had a check disk and to my surprise it had a Linux based partition. Could this be the culprit?(BTW...files almost filled the 320G HDD)
I deleted the partition and formatted my drive....I'm not sure, if the Xtreamer will install the linux partition again.(Have not check it yet, but when I reinstalled it, the drive was again faster)

Had the same problem and spent a couple of hours searching for answers in the Internet. Apparently if you are using WEP security encryption you have to convert from ASCII to Hex. Just google for the converter. Pick the one which converts to all numbers. This worked for me but I'm going back to the wired LAN

same thing happened to me, but the first time I connected wirelessly I encountered no problem the next time I turn it on, it says DHCP not ready. I'm not using WEP btw, I'm using WPA-PSK

has been singled out for attack?

Sa tingin ko wala....kasi hangang detect lang naman, isa lang talaga ang i-a-access niya, at babasahin. and power suppply nang Xtreamer ay kanya lang.(only advantage of this setup is when you are managing files, and transferring them) :D
Sabi mo kasi naka CDR King USB hub(I presume the one with it's own power supply so that the Xtreamer can detect all three, because if it ain't the Xtreamer won't be able to detect all three only one HDD).....so walang kaso sa Xtreamer iyan, kayang kaya. ;) ;D ;D

Guys I'm having trouble now with my current HD movie downloads when playing ...
All of my movies are completed before transferring to my external hdd to be played by my xtreamer... however, recently, the latest movies that I got (It's Complicated, Legion, crazy hearts and avatar) eh naglalag tapos stop. stop lang. then balik na ulit sa preview page nung movie. Dati naman kaya iplay ng Xtreamer kahit medyo ganun ngayon. talagang hinihinto nya. Nakakalungkot na. Di ko alam prob kung sa PC, hdd, or sa xtreamer ko eh. :-(
Hi, maybe you could try again the previous movies you have watched to see if it exhibits any problems now. so you could narrow down the potential device with the problem. Malabo na yun PC mo ang problem if they play the files with no problems.
Thanks bossing tama ka hindi pc ko. :-) I now know the problem... it's the 3-way usb hub that I use for my hdds... 2 lang kasi usb slot ng Xtreamer so my wife bought me one. When I use the said hub when transferring the files from my pc to one of my hdds, masyadong mabagal. Later I found out na when I copied avatar to one of the hdds directly, wala ng hangs nung pinanood ko sa xtreamer! :-) Kaya happy na ulit ako lol. Just need to get the 3 other movies na nasira... sayang kasi daming mga magaganda pa man din ngayon dumating... Now I need another week to complete the rest of the pending. :-(

Yung 3 yep... corrupted. Yung avatar ok may copy pa ako and ok sya. Kasi pag nagcopy ako, cut and paste na. kasi yung hdd ko sa pc ko, maliit lang space.
Yung Avatar kasi, copy and paste lang, the first one I transferred it via the 3-way usb hub---dun corrupted lag/stop. Yung isa copy and paste directly to my other hdd. OK naman. That's how I learned na yung ang reason kung bat nacocorrupt yung file.
Pinanood ng tatay ko sa xtreamer yung Avatar hanggang madaling araw pero inantok na ng mga alas dos. I asked our housemates na kasama nya manood, wala naman daw issues and tuluy-tuloy. haba kasi ng avatar eh lol.

DTS MA + TrueHD 7.1 passthrough will be introduced to all Xtreamer PRO in official FW 2.4 in matter of few days.
There was no point to release 2 patches in matter of 1 days, 1 patch for 7.1 + another patch for Jukebox.
Few days please, the developers of community and our rd are making now huge effort to finalize the Jukebox as an integral part of the FW. I can tell you the waiting for it will be worth your while.
Osherov : I was reported of your comments in hometheater venue. As well as the general attitude. We sent Mr ziv a sample device so you can follow his testings. dTown will do so as well.
We will introduce the 7.1 in matter of few days with jukebox and in matter of 2 months or earlier an opera web browser with full Flash GUi to all xtreamer users, Pro and Old models.
Within 2 months from now the xtreamer will close the gap with a-200 and will have substantial advantages even over the C-200. The "myth" some of your forum members in home-theater tries so much to promote that a-200 is better is far from being true.
The A-200 which we all tested, digested, dissected and aged for hours of usage is noisy, over heated, low quality built with cheap plastic, support only 1 HDD, reported with high RMA rates, delayed and far from being stable or localized to hebrew in the same manner as the xtreamer. It is time you all should realise the simple fact, we are here to stay and win this market. Some issues with delivery and late delays has happened. Given the fact that the scale of our operation worldwide is substantially bigger than NMT or other RTL based devices. One should consider this point also. hi, just purchase my xtreamer today. Firmware is 2.0.2. In the setup menu/playback, I can't find the preview on/off. Do I have to update the firmware to 2.3.1 to show/enable the preview on/off in the setup menu/playback? Appreciate receiving feedback from PDVD members. Thanks.

My xtreamer is connected wired lan to a pc server via router, I have a 1tb wd black caviar where it contains my hd movies, kaya lang I notice na lan gets cut-off. HD temp is ok, I monitored the bandwidth and it goes up to 10 mbp but suddenly drops and this is where I lose connnection. Nagtataka lang ako kasi when I access the othe drives (ide) ok naman ang connection. Yung pc server po ginagamit din for dl at occasionally watching tv episodes online. If all these tasks are done at the same time, does it affect my lan connection to xtreamer?

well, d ko ginagamit masyado ang remote control kasi baka nga masira. kung naka network naman ang xtreamer, ginagamit ko na lang yung webpage remote nya using an ipod touch or netbook. d mo pa kailangan ng line of sight.

Hindi ko sinundan yung nasa site, kung san man base yung Xtreamer (UK ata) temperate country sila kaya di gaano mainit talaga sa kanila. Pero sa atin, at least low yung fan pag may sidewinder, pero since malamig panahon ngayon.. Naka-off yung akin :D
Anyone here can provide a step by step guide on how to change the skins of my xtreamer? Nagsawa na ako sa malaking X eh. I checked the xtreamer forum pero most of the discussions there are making a lot of assumptions and it doesn't have an end to end procedure.

Its easier if you do this online. I downloaded the Xtreamer Live, then installed it in my external HDD. There is a Skin Manager in there, you can choose a lot of the designs from it.

once lumabas ang IP address ng xtreamer sa tv, browse that IP in your netbook or ipod/iphone browser. sa bandang baba ng lalabas na webpage mayroong link na "Remote 1" and "Remote 2". yung isang layout pang PC, yung isa naman pang ipod/iphone. forgot which is which since wala na dito ang xtreamer ko. :Dthank you sir. will try it ;)

Xtreamer SideWinder is the same device only it comes with passive cooling mounted and it does offer HD audio bitstreamming when new firmware is released.

Sirs emergency question lang. I got some playback issues with may xtreamer. May mga red na flickering whenever i play videos. Ano kaya problem? I tried different movies. Ganun talaga e. Home page palang yun x na logo biglang nag bblue screen tv ko then matinding flickering. Im using 1Tb external. Hope you could help me. TIA

Do you both have an internal HDD? Not sure but probably, XT1's RAM is choking the download?

no it wont, the c10 can accept 1080p signal. but imho, i would usually set my sources on what my panel's native resolution is, to avoid upscaling or downscaling that will be done by the source or panel.

actually na downscale po since the c10 output is only 720p. i would suggest setting the xtreamer to 720p since wala rin naman effect yung 1080p sa tv mo.

Although the xtreamer has issues, it does have an active community who are working to improve it. It's better than buying WD wherein you get a static unit.

Hi! I played 2 movies i.e. Furry Vengeance 720p and Prince of Persia 720p and when I played it in my Xtreamer, only the audio played but no video. I tried playing it in my PC and everything (audio and video) played fine. BTW, my firmware version is 2.1.3. Should I upgrade to the latest firmware to fix this problem?

I downloaded mkvtoolnix and tried the conversion. It took around 7 mins for the conversion but alas...Still no video but audio is ok. Is there a setting aside from the defaul of the program that needs tweaking?

first highlight the video track in the middle box then click on the extra options tab and under compression choose none. Then highlight the audio track and do the same thing. After that you can remux the file.
Or just download an older version of mkvtoolnix. It's these last 2 versions that are causing the errors if you don't change the compression to none. The default before was none but the programmer changed it the last 2 versions.

I have 2 MyBook 1TB external drives with eSATA. I wished to transfer the movies from there to my Xtreamer Pro and connecting it via eSATA, nag-ooff and automatic goes to PC mode yung Xtreamer Pro. Basically, this setup doesn't work. The only way to transfer to my Xtreamer is via USB. slow! Bale wala din pala esata connection of mybook drives. eSATA will be only useful for connecting to a PC with eSATA.this is good info bro ditoy. buti nalang.

I have the xtreamer pro and meron akong nahiram na U2 360degree concert na video in MKV format. It's in DTS-MA. Ok actually ang video and audio, no problem sa playback at all.
The issue lang is I can't jump forward or back. I can't "go to" chapters or specific time sa loob ng video. I was wondering if the MKVToolnix can help or atleast has anyone experienced this din? I can't really play the file in my laptop so I can't say that it is an xtreamer issue or if the file is the one that has problems.

nagupdate na rin ako gamit latest firmware release and installed jukebox.. nagtry ako magauto scrape, medyo matagal lng nascrape tpos yung ibang movie hindi nakapagdownload ng cover at fan art (minsan mali pa na movie). pero oks lng, pwde naman imanual edit sa webui.. medyo konting tyaga lng... ganda rin ng kinalabasan after matapos ko lahat mascrape...

back read ka lang ng konti and you will have the answer by downloading a toll called mkvtoolnix, and you have to remux the file. it takes around 4 minutes to do the remuxing and the files will usually play on the nmt already.

It seems i need an internal HDD for my sidewinder to get the jukebox function to work with my movies (get the info from the net). Where can I get a cheap one? And is it compatible with almost all the HDDs there?
When I turn the power on of my xtreamer it shows a blinking orange light and no video output.

I had mine exchanged with the vendor. that stand is the Achilles heel of the xtreamer. It will break if the xtreamer fall on its side which can easily happen if you are adjusting the cables. I reinforced the thin plastic tip of the replacement with tape.

I had mine exchanged with the vendor. that stand is the Achilles heel of the xtreamer. It will break if the xtreamer fall on its side which can easily happen if you are adjusting the cables. I reinforced the thin plastic tip of the replacement with tape.thanks sir. :)
My stand is also broken, as it won't hold its place any longer. I used a double-sided tape to fasten it back. Is the replacement of the stand covered under the unit's warranty?

My first FW upgrade attempt to v2.4.2 failed. Laging naka-flash na lang yung large Xtreamer logo sa screen, and continuous blinking of the orange light. Had to download the Emergency Flash for v2.4.2. Buti na lang the emergency flash procedure worked the first time.
Ok na ang Xtreamer ko for v2.4.2. Tested it on 1 movie na. YouTube feature seems to be working ok as well.
Hi guys question naman, Im trying to upgrade to firmware 2.42. After downloading, extracting and saving to my usb flash drive, following the steps..it keeps giving me this message: Remove Space on your upgrade path or Decrease number of upgrade folder.

hi guys... just wanna ask on how to install the base/stand that was included on the package. I'm having a hard time inserting/sliding the peg in the hole. it seems like i'll break the base in two if i apply force.
I also installed an internal hdd and has been using it for two days but when i tried removing it from the xtreamer, it's somehow stuck and won't budge out.

Noob question...is configuring the Movie Jukebox a onetime-big-time thing? like say for example after configuring the jukebox with all my files and i decided to add another 1TB worth of data a week later, do I need to configure the whole thing all over again? like it will scrape for all of my files again?
how about all the files that I fine tuned before, will it be bypassed by the "new scraping cycle"?

Im using xtreamer pro. For some reason I suddenly have a problem playing movie files that are only 2 channels audio. I have already watched some of these same files before and I did not have any problems with the audio of the very same files. Playing 6 channel files in dolby or dts has no problem.
You got any ideas what's causing this and how to remedy it?

You need to identify first what is the type of audio used in your movie file that is causing the problem. And pls. identify what your problem is? Is it no sound? Or unsuppported audio message?
Download from the web MediaInfo program. This is free. You can use this to check your movie file for the type of audio used.
apologies for the vagueness. :D The problem is it has NO SOUND now. all 2-channel audio formats, dolby etc are not coming out. as mentioned, I have played this very same files before and I did not encounter any problem.

I think the problem lies in your network setup. If not, it might be the hard disk. I had a similar problem which resulted in my hard drive crashing. Had to replace it through warranty.
I cant successfully update my xtreamer to the latest fw. After downloading the fw to my usb and plugging it in my xtreamer sidewinder, it just blinks and does not responds subsequently. What could i be doing wrong?

Try this:
while unit is turned off... try plugging the device on the othe usb slot. (make sure that no other device is plugged on both usb slots.)

Whenever I turn on my Xtreamer laging may loud noise coming out for about 10 secs. Initially akala ko yung external hdd kaya bumili ako ng isa pa. Nung sinubukan ko, ganon pa din. I'm not sure if it is the fan making the loud noise or other parts. Tunog niya parang drill ng dentist.

Known behavior talaga nang Xtreamer yan, very noisy fan during startup. I wouldn't even call it an issue. Mawawala rin naman eventually.

I've managed to downmix my dts hdma movies to play dts from my SW to my yamaha receiver by downgrading via emergency_XT_2.3.1. but is still unsuccessful with dolby true hd. i went to the xtreamer forum and confirmed that firmware is the issue with sidewinders. still awaiting for their update. fyi. thanks.
DTSHDMA always contains a DTS Core.
DD/AC3 has to be interleaved with Dolby TrueHD in order to get legacy sound. Kung TrueHD lang, wala kang maririnig.

Do you still having stalling issues while watching movies? I haven't upgraded my xtreamer since I got it early last year. Ayaw kong galawin kasi at baka lalong magkaproblema. But I've been experiencing stalling, restarting issues with mine lately kaya nag-iisip na din ako magpalit ng firmware.
ask ko lang po bakit po kaya nun nagtry me mag Move ng file (xtreamer + win7 via USB) biglang nagkaron ng error then i had to cancel it....tapos nwala na yong File ko.
sinubukan ko i paste ulet to any directory wala na talga...tried Undo as well wala rin.. in short nadelete yong file ko dahil don. i guess i'll never use "Move" command of windows again !

Newbie here. After lurking in the background for several months now and learning a lot from the different threads in this forum, I finally decided to jump into the discussions.
I got the xtreamer sidewinder and Panasonic 42x20 TV last December.Connection to the TV is through HDMI and since this a 720p native resolution TV ,xtreamer TV resolution was set to 720p 60 Hz.My family and I enjoyed watching movies, viewing photos, and playing music with this media player. I was pretty satisfied with the set up except that I couldn't watch mkv files with compressed headers.
I recently upgraded the firmware to Version 2.6 from the factory installed Version 2.3.1.This solved the issue on the mkv files with compressed headers. At 720p 60 Hz TV resolution,I noticed, however, that each time I boot the xtreamer, the menus are shifted to the right of the TV screen .The left portion of the menu is displayed at the right half of the screen while the right portion of the menu is shown at the left half of the TV screen.If I play a video file then return to the menus, the menus are now displayed correctly.I reinstalled the firmware and followed the instructions correctly, including the restore default in the settings menu but still no go.
Changed the settings to 720p 50 Hz and the menus were displayed correctly after booting . The picture quality looks OK but I don't know if this won't harm the TV with this setting. Tried the other resolutions 1080p/50Hz/60 Hz,1080i/50Hz/60Hz, HDMI Auto, 480p,576p and the menus were OK.
Also, I can't make the slideshow function work with this firmware. When viewing photos, the picture is stuck on the screen and doesn't move on to the next photo automatically. You have to press the PGUP or PGDN buttons on the remote to view succeeding photos. I made several adjustments on the slide show timing and transition effects but I still couldn't make it work.Didn't have this problem with Version 2.31.
Have any of you guys encountered the above problems with Version 2.60 and could you pls advise on how to fix them?

Yes, sir. I upgraded our two XTreamer PRO yesterday to 2.7. So far so good, haven't found any defect.
I think I got the WiFi dongle for P900. I suggest though you use an ethernet connection if you can. We no longer use the dongle I bought on the XTreamers but instead have it on a PC.

Does anyone know of any small 7"-10" LCD monitor with a composite video input I can buy? I'd like to put a small screen on the composite out of our XTreamer downstairs so we don't have to turn on the big TV to navigate for music. The big TV is plasma and I either forget or are too lazy to turn the TV off once I get the music I want playing - sayang kuryente.

i tried to connect my xtreamer w/ sidewinder to LG 355 HTIB. i set it up like:
A. HDMI cable from xtreamer to LCD TV
B. Audio RCA to LG355 HTIB (5.1)
I turned of the HDMI audio in the A/V setting of xtreamer para sa HTIB lumabas yung sound, now the PROBLEM is walang dialog or boses na lumabas sa HTIB. puro background lang or surround. Note, source are 5.1 pero it would not matter kasi analog lang ang connection ko.
When I tried to use the speakers of the LCD kumpleto naman sya.

Xtreamer version 1 has compatibility issues with Onkyo HQV-Reon receivers. It will show the Xtreamer logo after you turn it on but after it initializes, picture will become snowy. I have confirm it with my Onkyo 875, 876 & now with my 3008. I do not have problem with other receivers or with Onkyo faroudjia equipped models like the 707. Right now, i am in the market for the best but affordable nmt. I don't like realtek based nmts because it don't show movie titles in full view as i have experienced with my cinematube. Can anybody confirm this compatibility issue? TIA ;D

I'll try to simulate your problem sir as I have both xtreamer mk 1 and onkyo 3008. I'm currently using xtreamer pro with 3008 and I don't have problems like that.

You can find the HDMI Compatibility Options by clicking Settings, then go to the A/V Menu, then it's in the bottom part of the screen.
Nakita ko na. I tried up to option 4 pero ganun parin walang nangyari. Hardware compatibility issue nga to. Para sa akin tatlo na ang weakness ng Xtreamer. 1. No HD-Audio passthrough 2. You will need to change the setting when playing AAC movie file from set up menu 3. Hardware incompatibility w/ Onkyo HQV-Reon receivers
Does the LG355 have any Optical input?
Try connecting the audio using that and I'm sure that you'll get the full sound.
I've been using that method before I got my AVR.
With analog signals, depending on the file coding, I sometimes don't get the full audio. What you're hearing is just the sound that's supposed to go to the surrounds.
Sir Nogie just tried my xtreamer mk 1 with the 3008. Mine went smoothly. I already updated my Xtreamer to 2.7. Firmware version for the 3008 is 1051-0400-0310-2101. I tried changing all resolutions from source, through, 480p up to 1080p/24hz, all went smoothly except for the last(1080p/24hz) which showed mild jaggedness due to the limitation of my 720p projector. I used the HDMI Main as monitor out. HD audio passthrough is really not possible with the mk 1 that's why I upgraded to Xtreamer pro, pero the Xtreamer mk 1 can decode the DTS core as I tried Bluray-isos kanina. Sir Nogie, natry nyo na pong i-change yung HDMI cable? Yung gamit kong cable came from sir Anya. Sir the TV that you used for 3008 is the Samsung/Syntax? Baka lang po pwede niyo i-try with your bedroom TV yung 3008-Xtreamer combo.

I keep reading about the gripes of xtreamer users, but I don't really understand -- every movie I've acquired and played from different brands of ext. HDD's played just fine (except Tangled, which had no sound until I upgraded to 2.6.0).

What I'd really wish to have on the next upgrade is the ability to queue music I'd like played while other music is still playing. FW 2.7 does have a playlist but I find it rather primitive, also you can only have one. FW 3.0 is mentioned to have a much better UI.

What we mean is if you play an MKV file with DTSHDMA connected via optical to an AVR that has no DTSHDMA decoder, dapat ang sound na lumabas eh DTS core, but it's only prologic ang sound output nya.
Xtreamer is doing something at the moment daw. hopefully kasama to sa mafix nila. HTH.
No harm in doing it basta follow the procedure na nasa xtreamer site. Latest FW ngayon is 2.7 na. However, try to go to settings-A/V, digital output, then and scroll down and choose AAC,Flac,etc...If its done already or won't still play then upgrade the firmware. My sidewinder has no problem with flac files, wav, and dts-audio.na try ko po change un setting sa digital output to AAc,FLAC,etc...hindi pa rin po ma read un flac files,

here ar the instructions:
1. Download the firmware file.
2. Save the file on your computer (any directory) and unzip\unrar it.
3. Copy the firmware file to a USB memory stick (formatted FAT32) and use the USB host port on your Xtreamer.
3. Turn on your Xtreamer player and navigate to the SETTINGS -> SYSTEM menu options.
4. Find and select the FIRMWARE UPGRADE option
5. Navigate to the USB memory attached to your Xtreamer player containing the firmware update file.

The Crossover Cable allows you to connect two computers directly together by their network cards without using a hub or switch.
Don't really know what a "crosscable" is Bro but there are three ways I've used:is there a guide that I can read with regards to #2? 1. Via the network.
2. USB slave port
3. eSATA
No. 1 is the easiest but the slowest. Just plan your moves and do them in small batches.
No. 2 is faster than No. 1 but is not as fast as No. 3 but most PC will have a USB port. Just remember to set the Disk Select Switch at the back of the XTreamer. IIRC, the XTreamer includes the USB slave cable.
No. 3 is the fastest but your PC must have an eSATA port and it will require you to reboot the PC and maybe fiddle with the BIOS. If your PC has SATA but no eSATA, it is just a simple matter of buying an eSATA port that goes on one openings for the expansion card slots and connects to an unused SATA connector on the motherboard, no slot on the motherboard is used.
Personally, I almost always use No. 1. If I have to do big moves or want to check a disk for errors, I remove the disk from the XTreamer, open the PC and connect it directly. No need to disconnect the XTreamer and its power supply, which is far from the PC.

I think the Pro can satisfy those items, except for the 3D movie part. I have a friend who has tried out 3 or 4 brands of media players for his 3D movies. He said the media players encountered problems like slow/stuttering playback, audio loss, video skipping and on some cases hanging. But he had lesser problems with those NMTs having Sigma chipsets, although its not 100% problem free. Last I heard, he's waiting for the Xtreamer Prodigy to see how his 3D movies will play in it. HTH.

Does anyone know whats the fix for undetected hard drive? Di na ma-detect ng xtreamer pro ko (firmware 2.7) yun single hard drive inside. Tried turning off and on pero wala din.had the same prob with a different brand of nmt. we determined the HDD to be the problem.try connecting it to a pc if the hd can be detected.
Try to use the emergency firmware muna. There's an instruction at the Xtreamer website on how to reset and force update the firmware.
if it's still under warranty, better return it to the vendor you purchased it from. we have the same issue. I just returned the unit to annot 2 weeks ago and now it's working fine. that's the good thing about xtreamer and that they have 1 year warranty on their units. hth. :)

i didn't put any markers but i think they replaced it. not sure if it's new or refurbished.
I just bought the new Sidewinder 2 but sadly Xtreamer still hasn't fixed the DTSHD passthrough issue. it still is displaying prologic on my receiver when playing dts hdma mkv files. i might return this and exchange for another NMT.

Sa mga XtreamerPro owners sabay bang nagana yung HDD pag 2 ang nakakabit? Oh 1 lang? Me switch kasi sa likod na labeled A/B Para saan ba yun?yup, sabay bro, pero kung gamit mo lang sya as external storage via usb or esata one at the time lang magagamit mong hdd and you need to select using a/b button.
Merong nagbenta dito nang Xtreamer Sidewinder 3 for P5,800.00, the specs of that nmt according to www.iboum.com is great. Should I buy this? Anyone who tried this player? Thanks in advance...

Am just asking whether Xtreamer have fixed the file system check issue (HDD corruption) in their firmware for any of their previous and current models? What we have is the Xtreamer PRO and seems that it is still not yet fixed in any of their latest firmwares. Reason why am not purchasing any Xtreamer units anymore.
Sorry, but am using 2 x 2TB WD Green (EARS) HDD inside the Xtreamer PRO. Chances of both HDD causing the problem as compared to 1 unit Xtreamer PRO is remote. I doubt it is the HDD hardware that is causing the problem. Xtreamer admin in their forum acknowledged the possible HDD corruption problem, so I doubt it is in the other hardware.
The thing is, for an ordinary user (like other members of the family), its slowness in powering up and shutting down would definitely lead to HDD corruption one time or the other. And w/o its built-in file system check, you know what happens. For many years using my Gen 1 other brand NMT, never even once encountered such kind of HDD corruption problem. Even w/ hang-ups needing to abruptly pull the power cord on a few occasions. This can only mean one thing, that the fault is in the said NMT. The said file system check feature should be built-in. As hang-ups in NMTs is a common occurrence (if not due to immature firmware, sometimes on various media sources itself).

Hi xtreamer users! Sidewinder 3 owner here. I have backread this post a few pages back and I haven't found any info about the wifi antenna option. Pardon me if this was already asked:
Can the Xtreamer Sidewinder 3 recognize generic usb wifi dongles? Let's say as cheap as from CD-r king? I hope this is possible because I don't want to spend extra money on the original one if it works fine with a 3rd party. I have tried using a samsung wifi antenna dongle and it doesn't seem to recognize it. Although I'm assuming samsung has unique drivers setup for their devices. I also learned from the web that the Xtreamer USB Wifi Antenna is compatible with Popcorn units. I'm just hoping compatibility from other antennas will be ok the other way around.

Confirm, you can use a CD-R King wifi dongle. I use one for my SW3...But I do not know if it could last long. My dongle was actually purchased 1 year ago for my desktop...so generic dongles are working...

Bro dati na, but when i have new HDD some movie files ay walang picture but may sound... my connection is Xtreamer via HDMI to AVR ( Onkyo ) then to plasma TV, sound connection: Optical cable from Xtreamer to AVR.. :)

Looks like the files which gives you issues (no video/with audio) have header compression enabled - MKV's muxed with fairly recent mkvmerge versions.Thanks bro... try ko sa weekend
1.) You can simply remux all your files with issues, using older mkvmerge versions (I use mkvmerge 3.0) ...... remuxing will remove header compression and you should have no more issues playing your files.
2.) You can upgrade your NMT's firmware ..... upgrade to one which already supports mkv header compression.

I have 2 Xtreamers (Mk1 and Sidewinder) both of them have this issue when you watch an SD video after watching an HD video it will hang after a few seconds. Its still responsive so you can exit and access the menus but if you try to play another SD video it will again hand. You have to turn it on and off to fix it.
Anyone els have this issue? Know of a fix?

1. ayaw mag play ng medyo malaking files na - nag play naman sa PC ko using KMP
2. bigla na lang nag stop at nag exit sa main menu
3. try ko mag upgrade ng firmware pero ayaw na at sabi mag bawas ng file coz puno na ang target.. e wala naman akong internal HDD, puro external, at save namn ang firmware sa USB...

firmware upgrade through USB may not work if your thumb drive is more than 2gb in capacity, try using a smaller capacity drive ... this is mentioned on their site and i experienced it when using an 8gb thumb drive
best way to isolate is to upgrade the firmware to the latest version
Can anyone help with streaming files on the computer to xtreamer pro? Im tired of copying and pasting files from my comp hard drive to the xtreamer hard drive just to watch on the tv.

I just got a xtreamer Prodigy and I'm having an issue with the audio. Its connceted to my receiver via optical. In the xtreamers settings for SPDIF out there are only two options 2.1 or 5.1. If I set it to 5.1 only movies with DD or DTS have sound, files with stereo sound dont have any sound unless I manually change the setting to 2.1. If I set it to 2.1 I dont get the discreet multichannel for my MKVs so thats no good.
My old xtreamer sidewinder and Mk1 dont have this problem, it passes either audio stream to my receiver. Is this a limitation of the Prodigy? ???
Also is the prodigy UI really slow compared to the Mk1, I was expecting that the faster chip would mean a better UI speed.

Hi Mods,if you're already sure that physical mounting of the disk is correct, try updating the firmware, 4.0 is the latest version ... if this doesn't work, i would already suggest that you bring the unit to the seller for possible warranty replacement ... this happened to my brother's xtreamer, it was a hardware defect and had to be replaced - good thing it's under warranty
Need your HELP. Recently got a Xtreamer Prodigy Silver from fellows. It can't seem to read hard disk via the tray caddy, but it can read a 4bay Mediasonic via the USB in at the back, loaded with 4 -2tera without problem. Firmware Ver. 3.0.3

if you want to use the 3TB HDD as internal disk, the Prodigy should be your choice ... Xtreamer Pro was already discontinued ... and by 8k budget, that's should only be for the xtreamer, excluding the HDD

Hope you can help me out. I'm using a Sidewinder 3 (FW 4.0.2) with an external 3TB HDD (via USB) which I connect to my TV via HDMI.
I was playing perfectly for a few months already but last weekend, my TV doesn't get any signal from the HDMI port anymore whenever I turn my SW3 on. Tried to connect it using RCA jacks and my TV displayed the Xtreamer screen.
I'm thinking 3 possible problems here:
1. My SW3's HDMI port got damaged
2. My TV's HDMI port got damaged
3. My HDMI cable needs replacing
Appreciate any help you guys can extend. Thanks!

i guess it will be difficult to get a comparison as most members would have only one or probably 2 brands of NMT at the most ... i only have experience on xtreamer sidewinder3, and i can say that it is highly recommended for your intended purpose, plus some other features that you would likely use

I noticed recently that whenever i play movies,there's a static lines flickering on my tv.
But when i use another tv ,this doesnt appear.

Tried using USB 2.0 extension as mentioned but still not recognized. Also tried to interchange my WD USB cable to isolate if its a cable issue, pero na isolate ko sa Seagate 1 TB.
