Hi arjohnperez,

Kung less than 1 year pa lang (under warranty pa) at kilala mo yung owner... plus, kung alam mong maganda pa ang condition niya... baka yung 575X nga and best option mo.

Magkano ba ang brand new? Of course, it's always nice to get a discount but if it's already a good offer...

I think I sold my 575X for around 15K (rough conversion to pesos) but I can't be sure.  Anyway, I bought it for around 22-25K (not very precise pero hindi ko masyado alam ang exchange rate).

guys,
pls. advice... i'm choosing between denon1602, onkyo tx-ds575x, yamaha 496. ano ba ang pinaka okay between the 3 receivers? im planning to use M73i speakers. ito yung price na nakuha ko: denon1602 (19k bnew), onkyo tx-ds575x (15k pero 2nd hand), yamaha 496 (13k pero 2nd hand).

Why not the Yamaha RXV430?  It's 15K too.  I saw the Denon 1602 and was not impressed with the remote.  The Yamaha has a very nice functional remote that is also a universal remote serving up to three components, so it takes care of my TV and DVD player as well.

I didn't much difference between the yamaha and denon in terms of sound.  I'm also not a big fan of most DSP modes. So in the end it just comes down to convenience and the Yamahas remote is one of the best stock remotes out there.

agree with you Jick. One of the best nga ang remote nang yamaha, di sakit sa ulo. User friendly yet so powerfull.

I just went to Sight and Sounds Shangri-la and was told to go for a Denon AVR 484 instead of Yamaha RXV430 considering it's just a thousand peso more.  He also said that Yamaha is only good on their higher-end models, and that Yamaha is good for movies.  On the other side Onkyo is good in music audios.  While Denon is good on both of these...

Are all of these true?

Is the Denon AVR 484 the better deal?

I'm just starting up with a budgeted HT and a little help from any of you guys (expert or newbies alike) can go a long way.

Thanks.

Sa tingin ko ang counterpart nang yamaha rxv430 is the denon avr1602. Comparing the two, kailangan alam mo kung ano ang mas preferred mo kung music or movies.

I'm just a newbie sa HT and i'm comparing Denon 1803, Yamaha 730 and Onkyo 700 for a B&W 600 series speakers, What do you think would be the best match?

Reposting for Tekgik,

ey guys,

im new in the HT world... I have a existing sony HT set-up with sony str-d435. The one im setting-up for now is for my room and i want it to be more detailed in setting-up an HT system. I was satisfied with my sony set-up but after i heard other set-up like a b&w with yamaha! Im amazed!

Back to my Q, i recently purchased a pioneer dv-355. And planning to add a receiver after a day/month (when the money comes =) ) Ive read about the yam 430 for its best in movie capabilities, But Im more concern in pure clean movie & music too! Others said that the onkyo's are good at this. So im choosing from this models:

onkyo txsr 500 or 600
yamaha rxv 430 or 530

ofcorse the higher the model the more budget probs. So i narrow it with the onk 500 & yam 430. And do you know a shop that sell it then accept paylite payent by citibank?

Thank You so much! And oh yeah! A heads up for the inventor of this site! Also the modz and ever patient members! :) :) :)

If you want something that will be very good in music too, get the Onkyo. It's better than Yamaha IMHO. Tech Central in Makati Cinema Square is accepting Citibank Paylite, look for Amiel.  :)

which speakers are you looking at? kung bibilhin mo lang are yung mga bookshelfs, either 1803 or 1603 will do the job. But if you're getting 604s or 605s, you definitely wanna give 2803 or the upcoming 3803 a consideration.

dahil if you buy 605s tapos 1803 lang ang receiver mo, sayang lang ang binayad mo sa speakers mo. dahil it's not even gonna push 605s at all...

What receivers rivals those of Yamaha?
« Reply #191 on: Dec 02, 2002 at 12:12 PM »
I'm thinking of getting a new receiver. Was wondering, what brands would rival those of Yamahas? I'm particularly looking for the 630, or even the 1200. Are there cheaper alternatives that have basically the same feature set, and a good performer?

for denon.... try 1803(DTS ES discrete)
for onkyo..... try sr600(DTS ES/DD EX discrete)
both are at around 24.5k

yamaha 630(23k) only has matrix versions of DTS and DD

When I was in the market for a receiver, I chose among the Denon 2802, Onkyo TXSR700, and the Yamaha RXV1200 which were more or less in the same price and feature level.  I could'nt find a 2802 that I could demo so yung dalawa na lang ang pinagpilian ko.  For my ears the Yamaha was better for HT (more presence) and I could'nt detect much difference for 2-channel stereo so I chose the Yammie over the Onkyo.

If I were you, I'd check out the Denon first especially if you are biased towards music.  I find the Yammie sound too up-front for music.  Gusto ko laid back and I heard Denons are more laid back than Yammies.  For HT though, you can't go wrong with Yammies.

I've demoed units from Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo, and a Harman Kardon. Though the differences in home theater use are more or less the same with most of them, I find the Harman Kardon receivers better in 2 channel (stereo) music..

just my 2 cents worth..

thanks guys... so the matrix version of Yamaha is sort of like an emulation only right? It's not really 6.1 discrete?

Did a quick search, the Denon 1803 looks like it's cheaper than the Onkyo SR600. However, the Onkyo has a 192k DAC while the Denon only has 96k DAC.

What would you guys recommend if you were to choose between these two?

nice thing about the 630, though is that it has pre-outs that can be plugged to a separate amp if you think that 80wpc (or less) is not enough to drive power hungry speakers.

I think the denon also covers all 6.1 formats... wala lang OSD. Isn't it that Onkyo's are more for Audio enthusiasts? I plan to use the receiver for movies. Would the Onkyo do?

although the Onkyos sound warmer than the Yams, the new onkyo receivers (heard a friend's tx-sr500) doesnt sound competent in HT. i gave him my marantz sr4200 when i left manila and he said it sounds better than his onkyo.

marantz or denon should be a safe bet, all-around performer in both HT and music.

My mistake. Denon 1803 does decode DD EX. Just downloaded the pdf file.

Guys,

How come no one among you recommend a "Pioneer" for HT/Audio receiver? Aint that good ba sya to be not  included among Onkyo, Denon & Yamaha.

I'm curious co'z I'm going to audition this coming sat VSX-D811S-S at Listening Room (Mega). Can you give me some more insights re: pioneer before it's too late.

Your opinions are very much welcome. Thanks.
