Maganda Tony. I have 2 more 2A3 SE amps and this 4p1L amp is in the same league if not better. Very transparent sounding. The amp is currently connected to my midhorns taking care of 600hz to 4.5khz duties.

Larry, good to know and considering the cost of tubes, panalo.....
a guy from the states was asking me for schematics, gave him one...
he will surely like it as well...
on a general note, when any amp is asked to reproduce in a limited range of frequencies,
that is when its life is easiest....

Tuesday, May 23 mini eyeball with kabalen's at Angeles City, Pampangga....
we are the audio techies having a mini EB testing power amps as per FTC: watts rms, 1khz, 8ohms dummy load....
Norman Santos is one OFW working in Dubai, who spends his spare time laying out boards,
he is one of the many OFW's spending their time in a very productive way....
you will be delighted to find out that our local techies are now designing ang making their own smps psu's...
the Pinoy talent are all over the earth....
our Pinoy engineers in China produces many consumer electronics products,
i wll not be surprised if your DAC which came from china has the hand of a Pinoy techie
at one point or another...

left to right, Larry Roxas, Wewe Padilla, Tony Tecson, Jun Mabanta, Kiko Jimenez, Norman Santos, Jun del Mundo

really feels good to be among peers..... ;) 8)

just saw this now.
may reunion palang nangyari jan sa angeles papaT.
complete lab bench testing yata ginawa nyo jan....
ang titikas ng mga audio techies...
thanks papaT.jan pala si tukkar, naka pm ko na sa elab early this wk...have to check my vfets ranking code.

Don, maraming pang matitikas na pinoy techies na taga Cebu at Mindanao,
nasa facebook silang lahat....https://www.facebook.com/groups/301399146708263/
https://www.facebook.com/groups/APEETG/ at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1507333286196797/
Si Norman isang OFW na based sa Dubai...yearly ang vacation nya...
si Tukkar, aka Jun Mabanta, ay isang field engineer ng Xerox copiers based in San Fernando...
i am happy i was able to get them together in a mini EB FTC testing power amps...
marami pang ibang OFW's na nakakapag lay-out ng boards, nakaka-design ng amplifiers
at ngayon nga ng mga SMPS power supplies....
malayo na ang narating ng mga pinoy techies natin...
i am proud that in one way or another i am able to give them directions
although these guys pretty know what they are doing already...
kung tutuusin hindi natin kailangan ang China para sa mga amps,
kaya nating magproduce ng pinoy made....

another single ended amp in the works...
using the 4D32 beam tetrodes...
contemplating enhanced triode mode...
tubes came from Gerry Sta Maria for 1500 each...
got another 10 tubes when they were put on sale at Surplus Sales of Nebraska...
winding the power traffo, with about 500VA capacity for an aoutput of about 15 watts per channel
these tube will give the KT150 a run for the money, rated at about the same power,
the 4D32 has a bigger cathode, filaments running 6.3 volts and 3.8 amperes...

along the lines of the 6AV5, the 9pin socket can be tricky though....
you can keep the other two, i have plenty of power tubes already..
i know what you are thinking...single ended, so i suggest you parallel them
two per side, so that you will have more ooomph to drive speakers...

if you notice i haven't done any amp using the novar types,
the Chinese seems to have both the magnaoval and the novar under the same class...
i have the 13gb5, pl504's, the 6lq6 etc tubes waiting to see action...
12 pin compactron sockets are no problem....

^^i remembered that you built an 807 SET, so the 12gt5 will sound almost the same...

re-posting compilation by smoking-amp:

Don, aka smoking-amp, updates his list of power tubes, i have the "audio power tubes" emboldened,
as you can see those tubes would be in the bottom of the hierarchy of tubes based on cathode
capability (transconductance).....
so can you blame me for hoarding tv scanning tubes?  8)

taking my sweet time...output offset adjustments confirmed working,
output bias set to about 50mA per collector...
i set the 2k bias pot to 1k and i was at the target current, no further adjustment needed,
whe you maximise to 2k, the output stage is deep in cut-off at power up and power meter
reads12 watts, now my power meter reads 17 watts, meaning the output stage are
now dissipating an additional of 5 watts, things are cool to touch after a few hours...
after two hours meter reads 16 watts for just 1 watt per output trannie,
and the good news is, bias is not increasing....

gold mine ni master tony!!!

indeed....i found a solitary 6LW6, the king of TV horizontal tubes, i know where to get them,
i am tryng to convince the store to sell me a sleeve of those tubes...

one such amplifier using the tube...
http://www.tiffe.de/roehren/ga399ma.pdf

above article explains why this tv tube is better than traditional audio beam tetrodes/pentodes...

been thru over 200 power tubes, some of which sells northwards of U$50 n the states today..
the U$1 tubes i purchased years ago are now selling for more than U$4 nowadays...
it seems that as soon as a tv tube is discussed at diyaudio.com, the chinese will gobble
them up in the tens of thousands.... :o >:D

i found a pair of 7au7's...these can easily sub for a 6cg7 or 6gu7
without changing anything on the circuit...
found also 6dt8's and 12dt8's, these can be used on circuits using the 12at7...
and many more....like a pair of 8bq5's, a lots of 10bq5's, don't let the filament voltage
turn you off, a power traffo can be made to use 10 or 8 or the regular 6bq5's....
i am having lot's of fun sorting the tubes out....
these lot brings my tube stash to over 3000 pcs...
the 6JH8's can be used to make a one tube stereo line amp, volume control is a single pot....
