2nd CDP Shoot Out Results:

The pairings were as follows:

Sony 701ES vs. Yamaha CDX-620
We gave our votes on the Yamaha CDX-620 for being the more listenable CDP.

Pioneer PD-7030LTD vs. NAD C521BEE
The NAD was more defined and had an advantage on low frequency slam and extension.

Rotel RCD-971 vs. Rotel RCD-02
This match between the two similarly sounding siblings was a very close one with the RCD-971 getting a slight edge.

Rotel RCD-1072 vs. Usher CD-100
The main event of the day!! Being the most expensive CDP in the line up, the RCD-1072 surely lived up to its reputation and was picked as the best overall performer. It has a more lively performance perpetuating Rotel's energetic balance of a richer sound with imposing presence and better dynamics. The verdict on the Rotel was not a result of the panel becoming a brand victim to a more reputable manufacturer but a collective decision of a collegial body tasked with a fairly tricky duty of identifying and appreciating a better player. Had it not for that one abstention vote from Homer who felt that the Usher was a better player, the decision would have been unanimous.

First I want to thank the host "Akyat" for the wonderful place & the "Gulaman" hehehe (now I know what gulaman really taste hehehe). For the groups! mabuhay kayo! and the Judge! Golden ear Audioslave himself hehehe. To Sir Kimpao ganda talaga ng player, being the flagship player of reputable ROTEL it's good & best buy, now i'm excited to compare it with the Consonance 2.2 just to know the difference (hope Iceman will allow).
Sir Hendry! sipag mo last Saturday! I want to mention the presence of Garp & Bogsle!
Mga guys now we know what's the difference between maganda at mas maganda, ok sa ok na ok hehehe!
Sir JojoD tuloy natin butingting ng player ko!

Sir Akyat,

Thanks very much again for accepting us and for being a wonderful host. Siguro next time mag lagay ka na ng entrance fee.

To all who's present in the shoot out nice meeting you people.

Sir Rony, ganda talaga nung amp mo tumunog. thanks for your tips and advise.

is this the majority view or personal view of audioslave?

Sir  JulsP, I hate to be the antagonist, but in my own opinion they all sound very good to me, with a little edge yung Rotel 1072 ni sir Kimpao and the Yamaha (don't know who's the owner). But that's just me. Sabi nga ni Master Jojo and Hans, practice pa para ma-distinguish ko yung difference.

Abangan ko yung mga surplus na yun sa Buy&Sell section kung sakali. Sulit na sulit yang mga yan, and the built quality of Sony i would say it's awesome.

Sir Garp, ganda nga nung AMX mo, small but terible.

Wich ko lang, sana mag karoon din ako ng ST70 kamukha nung kay Sir Iceman or the EICO of sir Rony.

ang ganda talaga ng shoot-out.. very informative..

Since sa south pole nakatira si iceman, mas ok yata kung meron sa atin may van para isang sasakyan nalang tapos cheap-in nalang sa gas, diba!  :D
