Guys,

Would like to share some of my insights with the just recent cdp shootout..

Sony 701es and Yamaha CDX-620
Sony sounded like a leader in control with presence in every note, tone was also good neutral without much coloration in the bass and mids high is somewhat a little roll off.. Yamaha a surprise player like audioslave mention a listenable player not flashy but effective..

Pioneer PD-7030LTD vs. NAD C521BEE
NAD c521bee have heared this player before (1st shootout ) and was impressed with the bass how deep it go, warm sounding but a little coloration on the mid portion last Sat NAD player was diff maybe due to the nice tweak by the owner it provided a upfront soundstage, dynamic na lessen yun warm sound pero enjoyable, nice detail mids/high good imaging compare to the stock unit.. Pioneer PD-7030LTD before the tweak i remember how harsh the mids and high... detail to the extent you'll hate it coz fatiging na ;D ;D but thanks to JOJoD hehehe... The Pioneer (Tweak) last Sat was diff provided a smooth mid/highs department with good depth and soundstage but the timing is a little slow compare to the NAD and presented a laidback sound what i notice is the singer is nicely separated infront while the instrument are at the back..

Rotel RCD02 / Rotel 971
Funny was joking the guys that they just wasted they money coz they sounded the same... ;D ;D ;D but like the 971 due to softer highs and mids..

Usher / Rotel 1072
Usher gave a good presentation big sound but cannot control its action but big big improvement compare to the 1st shootout.. 1072 hmmm what can i say winner ito.. tska mahal!!  ;D ;D bwaaaaaa

Enjoy.. this is ONLY my opinion.. :) :) :) all cdp are great sounding sabi nila... parepareho lang tunog nya.. hehehehehe well its somewhat true in some but may not be true for a few.  ;D ;D ;D

Just curious, when you compare, do you do Doube Blind Tests?

IMHO, no need for double blind tests since two cdps were being played simultaneously using the same tracks and switching them every now and then.  You would be able to hear differences from both. I believe that most of the judges were responsible enough not to be "brand victims" or even base their judgements on "price". Honestly, if i were to be asked, i found most of them great sounding although each one giving out a distinct characteristic of its own.

just my 2 cents.  ;)
