Burlesk Queen, indie? It makes even less sense and is, if anything, even more visually poetic. Vilma's even
good in it.
Far as I know, Lee and O'Hara's never worked before. O'Hara really collaborated closely with Brocka from 1970 up to around 1978. Lee's first work with Brocka, far as I can remember (someone correct me on this if I'm wrong) is
Jaguar, in 1980, with Pete Lacaba.
Lee's got a strong personality; I'd consider
Moral more his film than Marilou's.
Mario's worked with Joey Reyes, tho, on
Condemned. What happened was, Reyes gave him a script, he didn't like it, he and Frank Rivera rewrote the whole thing.
It's wonderful noir--the best Filipino serial-killer film ever made. Well, it's not
just a serial killer film; there's more to it. But it's great...
