Thanks sa mga reply bros. I tried a3 w/ 550a pwede rin but if I decide to buy ca siguro 650a. Not familiar w/ power amp.
I'm more please now w/ a3 + Hk 245 + sub. (sub pala kulang).

Dami bago products ng CA ngayon. DacMagic Plus, 651C, 651A, 651BD, NP30, 751BD, 551R, iD100, etc. I'm happy to say that the improvements look appealing. :)

Three new items caught my attention:

1. The DacMagic Plus has a much better USB interface (when put against its predecessor), and now supports 192/24 from all its inputs.

2. The 651C is essentially a revised 650C that uses better DACs, and allows the tweaking of filters (this was possible in a handful of 650Cs, but they took the feature out in later firmware revisions).

good day. you forgot this one... :)

http://www.audioreference.co.nz/product/cambridge-851a-120w-integrated-amp

3. The 651A is a sonically tweaked 650A that now has a USB DAC built into the unit. I wish they added SPDIF inputs as well, but it'd be great to hear this with the 651C.

Oh, yes I did. The picture is of an 840A though, I wonder if they'd retain the look of the 840s.

Hi mga sirs, i have a b&w 685 paired with harman kardon 160. I'm quite contented with the sound
as long as i increase treble by +2 and bass by +4. im not really an expert.

I'm just wondering how it would be compared if i pair it with a cambridge amp or avr.
Ano ang difference sa sound?

Right now i believe 5th ave is having a good sale for their cambridge amp and avrs.

thanks

Best if you could bring your 685 at one of their store for an audition and see if it will rock your boat.

I agree. I'd like to add that since you've been boosting your lows by quite a bit, you may be better off with NAD, HK, or something else with a strong bottom end.

There is someone selling the NAD C372BEE in the marketplace. That may be the right place to start.

May built-in DAC yung 651A and revised for better transient performance.

685 and ca sound a bit rounded to me. not that its not good, but i just prefer a more dynamic presentation, which CA stands out if partnered w/ a different speaker imho.

I agree with Ivan, HK and still boosting lows shows you may favor the "mataba" sound, which is not the signature sound of CA (or you may add a subwoofer). Though as Master Nelson has said, there's no harm in bringing in your speakers and audition/search for the right amp for you. Good luck on your audio journey sir!

Ayon o, eh diba di mo type hitsura nun? Sabi mo mukhang luma at painted lang.

Just an update: The 651C, 651A and the DacMagic Plus are now here. :) Final pricing would likely be out by next week.

Try it to see if it works for you. The RX series may be a better match for the 650, as the RS might sound a tad aggressive with this.

Try checking the current Yamaha Natural Sound product line, as it might suit the RS speakers better. Yamaha is being distributed by the same people that distribute Cambridge Audio gear.

I'm in the market for a nice dac.

Is the dac magic plus already in stock locally or is it still by order basis by the local distributor? Any updates of the pricing?

Sira, friendly lang kasi mga tao sa ibang stores at nagpapadala ng product updates at previews. Avesco usually gets the product early, many times even before the official launch. Medyo matagal lang ata madalas ang market study, costing at final release ng pricing lalo na sa ganitong products. Minsan nasa stock na ng dealers ang products pero wala pang final price. Medyo slowly but surely ata sila sa mga ganun, hehehe.

Card price of DacMagic Plus is P22,000.  It can be had for P18,810 (cash).

By the way, any other speaker recommendation for the 550A aside from the Mezzo 2?  I find the 550A and my Polk Audio RTiA1 combo a bit bright and lacking in the lower frequencies.  I listened to it at the shop connected to the MS Aviano 2 and I thought it was hooked to a subwoofer.  How about the B&W 685?  I also heard the PSB Image B6 being mentioned as a good match.  Which of these speakers would best suit me if I prefer a little bit more bass extension?  I plan to audition speakers today.

The 685 might give you the bass extension you are looking for. The B6 also has decent bass though I've never heard it being driven by Cambridge gear.

If you want true extension, go for towers or add a sub. At the very least, get a bigger bookshelf (or a higher end one) and put them close to a wall.

Small bookshelves will only fool you into having LF extension by having a hump in the bass region.
