not much difference between the 2, but if you're just adding memory, it's best to buy the same one as the existing memory modules to avoid complications ... last dec., i bought 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws 1600 (2 x 4GB) for PhP 2k

+1

Gskill din gamit ko pero since corsair na gamit mo get the corsair same timings so it will be dual channel. Memory on dual channel is better.

mas low profile ang G.Skill, yun ang isa sa consideration ko for getting G.Skill, masyado mataas yung Corsair at Geil ... if you're using an after-market large cpu fan, it could be an issue ... yung G.Skill tama lang size

are 100% sure about this statement?

getting the same brand/model/batch will only LESSEN the chance of getting speed settings issue.
e.g. Specs:
dual ram A runs @ cl 2.0 // dual ram B runs @ cl 2.5
which means dual channel will run @ the weaker CL, this can easily remedied by CLOCKING dual ram B @ cl 2.0 if its capable

notice the example i made is from circa socket 939 / core 2 duo :)
even before that pwede naman asymetric dual channel ;)

May point ka naman sa post mo and tama kasi ung mga dual channel nabibili na siya in pair not in per unit. The last time na ginaw ako kasi yan is team elite pa i got 1 unit and then nung nag add ako same timings lang din ayun dual na ung memory di ko alam sa gskill.

BOW....

Guys, what's the cheapest setup for a low-power XBMC machine? My target is below 20 watts. Is this achievable?

Mostly 720p H.263 MKV files connected to my Samsung UA37D5000 TV. The TV has a built-in player but it lacks the features offered by XBMC running on an HTPC. I'm currently testing XBMC on a notebook with the iOS remote control which I find very nice since I don't have to fiddle around with a dedicated remote.

ok lang 12GB as long as 64-bit na OS mo, but get the same timing as your Corsair ... kung hindi 64-bit OS, sayang lang 12GB, 3.25GB lang kaya gamitin ng 32-bit OS

I'm using an AMD E350, ATI HD6450, 4GB DDR3 and can play smoothly remuxed full HD mkvs with HD Audio (20-25GB files), BD ISOs, Bluray Discs from a BD ROM.  Haven't tested 3D BDs though.  Smaller files wouldn't have any problems with it.  ;)  Cheaper alternative for a pure HTPC application than an i3.  ;)

I have a similar setup: a Manli T2 Nettop (AMD E-350, 4GB DDR3, 2.5" 500GB 5400rpm HDD). I plan to upgrade it to an SSD soon since application loading and response times are really slow. : :-[

sa mga guru here patulong naman po..here's my prob:

I recently bought a toshiba panel (led tv 32ps200). It's good. I am using it also as a secondary pc monitor. My problem is, I can't seem to get the hdmi audio working.

here's my setup running windows 7 32-bit:
pc (9800gt) > dvi-hdmi adapter > hdmi cable > tv

video is ok pero no sound sa tv. tried disabling/enabling all the possible digital audio on the sound settings on win7 pero to no avail pa rin. na try ko na dati ang above setup attached to my samsung plasma and ok naman. can anyone help? baka kasi may nakaligtaan lang ako.

here's the guide that i followed: http://www.overclock.net/t/441176/guide-8800gt-9800gt-9800gtx-sound-over-hdmi-now-including-creative-cards#post5305349

the above guide works. dvi outputting audio using a dvi-hdmi adapter (using internal spdif headers attached to my mobo). and like i said it worked on my samsung plasma but won't work on my toshiba. di rin kasi klaro ang manual nung tosh eh. so is there anybody who knows a fix for this o sadya talagang hindi pwede magka audio yung sa tosh? thanks!

i wouldn't recommend following that guide ... DVI does not support audio as a standard ... rather than working on those rewiring on the motherboard, it would be much simpler to just run a cable (3.5mm jack to L-R RCA) from the audio out of the PC to the audio input of the TV ... following that guide would be risking damaging the motherboard

^why would it damage the mobo? the headers on the vcard/mobo are made in order to output audio. they were made to be used. i dunno why it would damage them.

if it does not support it natively bro.  may ganyan kasi minsan, nasa fine print naman pero di naman pala supported.  why not replace the video card bro? :)

DVI does not carry audio signal ... those headers are intended for other usage - e.g. front panel audio ... you will be deviating to standards, hence it will be at your own risk ... at the same time, you cannot refer to the manufacturer to verify why it's not working ... and since you're output is just to the TV (likely stereo only), why not just use an RCA cable to the audio input to make it work (guaranteed that this will work - you can escalate to the manufacturer if not) ... just my opinion anyway
