wag na flame.. mag mahalan tayo.

my HTPC - (sold to kuya)
Zacate E350
4g RAM
500 Blue Carviar
400PSU FSP

may AMD Zacate E-350 din ako. it's a Manli T2 nettop. I put 4GB DDR3 and a 500GB 2.5" HDD. I'm not using it now coz I find too slow. (mainly due to the 5400rpm hard disk.) I plan to replace its HDD with an SSD soon. ;)

guys ok na ba ito for cheap basic htpc setup:

amd build:
amd llano a4-3400 2.7ghz socket FM1
asrock a75m-itx

intel build:
intel core i3-2100 3.1ghz LGA 1155
asrock b75m-itx

how much kaya to sa market ngayon and locally available ba yung mga itx mobos? thanks!

Get the lates A?MD A10-5800k it will surely beat the i3. I just tested my AMD 10-5700 65W get from amazon with battle filed 3 max settings yan mas stress pa kesa sa pag play ng movies pero walang kalag lag.  >:D >:D >:D

Processor: FM2 , A10-5800k - P5950.00
FM2 Asrock FM2A75M-ITX - 3850.00
GSkil 2x4GB - 2050
PSU - Seasonic 520W - 3100

SSD will add fast opening of file or programs but as they said at TPC when your software is running its like 7200rpm hdd already on the response.  ^-^ ^-^

The stock HSF can be quite noisy. You can try playing with the temperature thresholds and fan ramp, or better yet put in a large and quiet HSF. A large cooler with a large fan would provide adequate cooling even when the fan is barely spinning.

Ian,

Check the Smart Fan controls in the BIOS. There might be a way to increase the target temperature and to slow down the fan ramp. Speedfan can also be used.

Thanks guys! I think I am still used to the quite blu-ray player. Was actually weird because I did not notice any noise when I was using my old HTPC :)

You're welcome. You can set the CPU Smart Fan Target in the BIOS to something like 60 or 65 deg Celsius, then reduce the CPU Min Fan Speed to a number that keeps the cooler quiet enough for comfort.

This keeps the fan running at a lower speed until the temperature starts to break the target temp (this shouldn't happen very often if you have sufficient case ventilation and a reasonable min fan speed).

I'm quite OC with component noise, which is why I deadened and undervolted my main PC. I still run active cooling, but the fans spin at very low rates (~230rpm for the CPU fan for example). Mechanical parts are isolated with silicon mounts. HDD whir can still be heard up close, however.

Any major brand should have a decent HSF. Mass matters more than tech in most of these cases (unless you're really pushing the limits).

A large cooler with a big fan from a reliable brand is usually more than enough. Almost any fan would be quiet at low speeds.

Check if the fan is a PWM type, and watch out for the usable rev range. Some motors aren't designed to spin slowly. If your case fan isn't PWM, you may also consider replacing it (granted that your motherboard is not equipped to modulate non-PWM fans).

If this would fit your case, it's fairly cheap and can be ran at 600rpm:

You're welcome bro. Check for clearance inside your case before deciding on a cooler. :)

Clean the APU's heat spreader completely before applying new heatsink paste. :)

I'm tempted to build an htpc using a cheap H61 chipset motherboard with "just" 4 SATA II slots. what do you guys think? pwede na ba ang 4 SATA slots?  ::)

Consider one consumed by the optical drive. Granted that you won't be using a dedicated OS/Application drive, that leaves you with ports for 3 HDDS.

If you're buying 3TB or 4TB HDDs, you're looking at upto 9-12TB internal. That's good enough for most people.

Moving up to the B75 chipset makes sense though, as you're getting USB 3.0. The B75 also runs a faster SATA variant (would make sense if you're looking at going the SSD route), and includes PCI-E 3.0 (not much use for now, unless you plan on upgrading later on).

pwede na yan sir. ilagay mo 3tb per port. plus kung atx o matx na board makuha mo pwede ka rin magdagdag ng sata card sa pci express slot incase na kulang.

A lot of standalone SATA controller chips do not have support for Windows 8 at this point, however. One has to choose wisely before getting one of these (Marvell and Asmedia based ones are pretty safe).

if the card supports Win-7 sir. it will work in Win-8 because the CORE of Win-8 is practically the same as Win-7.

It works, but I've experienced data corruption. Microsoft's upgrade advisor flags about this.

Microsoft revised Windows 8's file system components, and this might be the reason for the incompatibility with some Windows 7 storage drivers.

In my experience di ko sabay na enable ang ultra and motion 2 parang sobrang bilis na pag sabay na naka enable yung dalawang features. Pero mas smooth talaga pag quad ang gamit mo using the ultra or motion 2.

Why not check AMD A10-5800k you will have quadcore. AFAIK di pa din ganun kaganda ang IGP ng i3-3220.
