Guys.

Interest check on 750 gb drives. Costwise, they're not much more expensive than 500 gb in terms of price / gb.

I'm asking for 1.5tb availability, too.

1TB Western Digitals with 16mb cache's are available, but the difference is marginal (pricewise).

No sign of our beloved 1tb seagates.

I'll be monitoring this thread today.

reading from egreat via eSata -45 MB/sec

BTW, this reading is read from Teracopy (great program) with 256k cache, copying 4-10gb files queued up. OS is Windows XP.

Honestly from what Gren, Marl_5 and some other members have said, it would be better, faster and more practical for the initial contents be determined by gren alone. I didn't heed this which is the reason my HDD was not filled up as much as I would like on the pick-up date. This is understandable seeing that the guy even slept over ( if he ever slept at all ) at their shop in annapolis just to keep up and stay on schedule. Believe me Richie knows the best titles to demo, show-off or bring out the best out of your HD displays. He has previewed most of them and has a number of titles that are considered MUST HAVE! Anyways, one can always come back and choose at a later date. Be it 500 GB, 759 GB, 1 TB , full or partially filled, I bet you will have a marathon that would last more than a week to satisfy even the most ardent videophile. I myself was overwhelmed with the 55 titles on my 1 TB. I might pay him a visit again 2 weeks from now. Hope this helps guys to speed things up.

Bro send me details of the 1.5TB :-) Also, I know the WD's are cooler to run and they are supposed to be more energy efficient compared to the bigger cached Seagate drives...

we had problems with the wd greenpower drive connected via esata. since it does not have the sata 1.5 jumper (jumper than turns the sata 2 drive into 1.5), it causes problems when booting up your pc with the drive connected via esata. we keep the jumpers on the drive since it does not seem to affect transfer speeds anyway and is perceived to be more stable.

i haven't done head to head comparisons between 16mb cache equipped hdd and the 32mb one. i'm thinking if its contiguous transfer (as withmost of our transfers, the cache won't matter as much).

preference will be given to those with no content preferences. i'll use up about 80% drive capacity then have the rest left for additional content.

@ gren, you can do the units of the other buyers first. I won't be available this weekend for pick-up so priority na lang ang mga iba. Anyway, since I work in the Ortigas area, it will be easy for me to drop by your store anyday next week. It looks like of all the buyers, I am the one with the least time on my hands for watching. Naku, dami ko pang unwatched dvds bought from all the sales and from the pdvd sellers. Pati anak ko nalulula sa nakapilang panonoorin.

Will sms or email you over the weekend or early next week to schedule my pick-up day, and so that you can send me the price.
