Wow classicman major work going on talaga :D Im sure this would be one of the best ht set-up sa community natin ;) And since you want comments, i only have one suggestion sana kung pwede :-[ Yung elevated flatform where you will place second row of seats SANA mas ok kung you'll make it up to the door na :) para sa sound distribution and para maiwasan na may matisod kung medyo dark na yung room :) I know this would cause some problem sa door size and opening but based from your picture you still have some place to adjust the door position upwards ::) or if you dont want to re-fit the door maybe you can just re configure it to open outward and then make the flatform tapered leading to the door to look like a ramp para iwas tisod pa rin :) just a suggestion lang po sir ;)

bro dapat before all this work you should have by now your preferences ng speakers/ sizes/ all the specs you'll be needing for the preparation of the wirings and all (kung magpapalit ka). when i did mine kahit with humble brands lang, i found out that - dapat completo na gamit ko home the home theater.
took me 3 months to set up the HT room sa house ko. pinadaan ko kasi lahat sa ceiling ang mga cables ko (6.1 na set-up). I have to consider wood treatment, furniture, carpeting, as well as colors ng walls. Nag-apply pa ako ng feng shui para di mawala collection ko, swertihin ng magagandang titles at mura... ;)

or kung di na maiwasan na ibago, pwede ba isuggest na maglagay ng neon step lights, parang sa mga stairs/steps sa mga mviehouses. para parang authentic movie house ang dating hehe ;D..... but whichever way you go...this will be one great great set-up. the space you have is what i would want if i was to rebuild my own set-up again.....you have 25 sq meters there. its just right to have a second row dahil pahaba sya (6.6meters), and am sure kapag natapos yan, marami ka bisita and enthusiasts who would want to audition one of PDVD's best set-up.

thanks a lot for the comments & suggestions sir ricky, actually ito yung pinaka-mahirap na parte don sa pagde-design ko sa room :(......i have considered your suggestions pero di pumayag si kumander, hehehe ;D, medyo elevated na kasi ang room na yan from the adjacent dining room so pangit daw pag palabas ang bukas ng door & if putulan naman yung door masyado na raw mataas ang step going inside the HT room....... ;)
what we did last night was to bring the 2 sofas (na dati ko ng na-order) inside the room & have them positioned on their intended places & we found out na pwede pang tabasan ng konti yung edge ng platform to widen the supposed pathway w/c is now at .60 meter.......ok na siguro yun 8)

that's a very good suggestion about the "neon step light" :o, saan kaya pwedeng bumili nyan, meron kaya yan sa ACE or other ordinary electrical shops ::)........naku sir Munskie, entry-level lang po lahat ng gears ko, my wife just conceived this idea of renovating the rooms & transferring the HT doon dahil nga nasa 2nd floor ang present HT room namin, mas ok daw if it's in the ground floor
your HT along w/ that of master Matz's Den & sir Ricky's Place are still the very best here at pinoydvd, & will remain to be so.......ginagaya ko nga lang mga set-up nyo eh ;D 8)

master MatZ, thanks a lot for your explanation on the "fiberglass health related issue", all your points were confirmed by the store manager where i bought a 15-meter roll last week, & i think there's just no alternative material that's as acoustically effective & cheap na readily available dito sa atin :D.......bumili nalang ako ng pinaka-makapal na fabric na nakita ko sa isang shop sa SM Cebu (buti nalang SALE last weekend, hehehe ;D) na ginagamit pang-upolstery for better protection 8)

Eli, pagpumunta kayo dito sagot ko na lahat ng kwentuhan at maboboteng usapan while watching DVDs.......sa bahay nalang kayo mag-stay para libre lang, hehehe ;D

bro classicman,ricky na lang po tawag nyo sa akin pls :) suggestion of munskie to put neon lights mas better doon sa suggestion ko lalo na kung ayaw ni BOSS lol ;D actually you have lots of choices to illuminate the flatform, there's neon lights(nice effect but too bright and expenssive), rope lights(cheap, its flexible and can be fitted with dimmer switch so you can adjust the brightness and maximize the effect), glow in the dark stickers(hard to find) and lastly path lights( the one used sa movie house to light sa side ng chairs to light the path ways ;D). these lights can be found sa mga home depot stores im just not sure kung meron sa cebu ???Im sure when you are finished with your project ay hindi ka na lalabas ng bahay ;D ;D ;D

You could also try those tiny LEDs (Landlite brand) being sold at home depots and SM/ACE hardware. You can put several of them on the platform riser so as to have a dual purpose of outlining the platform border and discreetly illuminating the floor at the same time.

Sir classicman- if this is on the 2nd floor ingat lang sa dagundong ng subwoofer. I vibrates in the first floor. I also have my HT in the 2nd floor and mas madalas kaming may ilaw napupundi. :-\ I hope your room treatment and acoustics solve this problem. ;D

thanks again for the suggestion pareng ricky, although tapos na ang electrical works ng HT project namin pwede pa raw ihabol ang "step light" sa platform according to the electrician na di na kailangan mag giba uli ng walls (buti naman) :D.......will look for these lights nalang dito marami rin naman mga "hpme depot" style stores/hardwares dito sa cebu........baka nga maging totally domesticated na ako nito after the completion of the proj., hehehe ;D

sir Mel, fortunately our HT project is in the ground floor, yan nga reason ni kumander (wifey) na mag-renovate kami ng 2 rooms coz our present HT is in the 2nd floor :).......am seriously considering your sub, ang problema lang talaga yung shipping cost :( ::)

thanks a lot sir jomonds, excited na nga kami lahat dito sa bahay eh, parang ang tagal-tagal matapos, hehehe ;D.......we're now on the "finishing" stages of the construction though, hopefully baka by next week matapos na 8)

Bro congrats, ang ganda ng finished project mo. Remarkable :) Suggest you put movie posters kung wala pa to bring that theater effect. Gear lists naman dyan sir. .again more power and hope you can invite us pag nag House warming este HT room warming pala ;D

thanks bro Blade for the compliment.......DIY lang ang "rack" ng center speaker ko, i just cut out a styro specifically designed to suit the shape/angles of my RPTV's top-back portion, then i taped it to the tv & put some double adhesive to securely mount the center speaker, dapat lang naka-tilt sya ng konti directly towards your sweet spot 8)

Been to Classicman's pad...Grabe galing parang sinehan talaga with all of his DVD collections surrounding the room and the room treated. He is a believer of room treatment in improving the sound rather than changing and upgrading of gears. Somehow I am beginning to be a convert and just looking at my untreated room made me want to jump in the room treatment/acoustic band wagon. Magastos but what I saw and heard was well worth it!!! Nalecturan pako tuloy ni Attorney. Haha! ;D Honestly, a PJ upgrade nalang ang kulang and pwede na entry sa Audio Video Interiors.

And it would be safe to say that room acoustics are last on the list when people make a wish list for their dream HT. I would encourage a higher priority for it. My gears are just mid end but they sound so good in an acoustically treated room."

maraming salamat bro juneaki :).......di mo na kelangan pang tumaya sa lotto & yakang-yaka mo naman yan, actually hindi naman masyado mahal magpa-renovate & magpagawa ng dedicated HT room basta ikaw mismo ang mag-dedesign, bibili ng mga materials & closely supervised ang mga karpentero & pintor katulad sa ginawa ko, nakakapagod lang pero malaki naman ang matitipid as compared to contracting professional acoustician/designer ;)
i just read & read lots of stuff on acoustics sa internet, then pasyal pasyal sa mga A/V shops na may HT to get some ideas, tapos i-apply mo na sa actual construction at yun na yon, hehehe ;D

Sir. I also had a RPTV before in between my speakers. When I removed the RPTV in favor of the PJ , the improvement in music was very big since there was enough room for the music to move in the center. There was more depth and imaging was improved by a lot.
When audio listening , try:
1.) moving your speakers closer to you and away from the TV
2.) moving the TV away (its harder) and listen to your setup with nothing in between the speakers.
3.) If all else fails, Get a PJ. >:D >:D >:D Joke lang sir :) hehehe

Pare the other day Matt and I auditioned an EXPOSURE 2010 int. amp and cdp at AUDIOWORLD running a DYNAUDIO a72 :o Grabe pare up to now hindi ko pa limot yung sound :o I had the impression that dynaudio speakers are power hungry pero hindi pala ;D 70w lang yung amp and grabe na yung tunog. Nagparinig ako sa CEO ko that i want it and ang sabi bakit kasi nag auaudition pa kayo ni matt eh :P ;D you might want to check out the amp pare ;)

if there's anything that i may have some spare (but not that plenty) is SPACE ;).......so i've decided to put my audio set-up separately by using our old HT room, although it's not acoustically treated aside from the presence of the carpet rug, thick curtain, sofa & 2 shelves full of LAW books (as sound absorber ;D), it is still ideal for a pure audio set-up since it is adjacent to our terrace & has some good ventillation, in other words masarap tumoma dito habang nakikinig ng sounds, hehehe ;D ;D ;D

this sweet sounding monster arrived thursday (july 27), & had since been giving me sleepless nights ;D ;D ;D........this is my BEST upgrade so far in terms of A/V gears, it is well worth all the "anxieties & mental anguish" that i had undergone just to acquire it ;D 8)
whew!!! it was indeed a very busy week for me :o........time to tighten my belt & face the reality of eating noodles for about a year ;D

naku sir aldrin, di lang pogi ito ang ganda pang tumunog :o :o :o........napansin ko nga rin na medyo may kamahalan ang wharfes dyan, i think the evo 30 retailed at about US$800 when it came out in the U.S. market :o
about the 602s3, actually i'm even toying w/ the idea of selling my own pair together w/ my LCR60s3 if i can find an evo center :D........am not sure if naninibago lang ako sa floorstanders but for the past week that i had been comparing the 2 speakers, i find the evos to have better lows & mids while tie lang sila sa highs, converted into a much better soundstage than the 602s :)
these 2 speakers kasi have similar materials used in their tweets & woofers, pero lamang ang evo sa cabinet design & crossover circuitry na pang high-end ang dating, hehehe ;D ;D ;D

i'm looking at a PJ upgrade in about 2 years pa siguro, talagang na-drain na kasi lahat ang budget for the HT & i think it's also a good timing since the new formats (HD-DVD & Blu-ray) would have already stabilized by then ;)

If I may humbly suggest, sa dami ng gears na nakita ko, all you have to do is focus and make a goal for your dream HT and I am sure you will get your dream HT/audio setup to come true.
But sa bagay, your experimenting with different gears is also part of the fun. I also went through that process. So congrats and enjoy! :)

as i've mentioned in a previous post, if there's anything that i may have some spare, it is SPACE ;)......it is actually my plan to put up a pure audio set-up in a separate music room (our old HT room) w/c is adjacent to our terrace so this explains the acquisition of my NAD cd player, & if kakayanin another audio set-up in the living room kaya nga i got the wharfe evo 30 kasi poging-pogi para sa sala :o.......idol ko kasi si sir zetroce na maraming audio set-up sa loob ng kweba nya ;D ;D ;D

i'd been experimenting & at the same time comparing my 3 speakers (B&W 602s3, CDM1 SE & Wharfe Evo 30) on how they match w/ my amp., receiver/pre-amp. & cdp/dvd player :).......so far, i'm done w/ my evo 30 vs. 602s & medyo lamang ang evo 30 as i have already posted a few days ago ;).......ngayon naman it's my evo 30 vs. cdm1 se & my preliminary findings eh lamang naman ang cdm1 se on both the highs & mids pero lamang ang evo sa lows :D........it's really fun & exciting ;D ;D ;D

Eagles: Farewell I Tour - Live in Melbourne (r1, dts) - just finished watching this concert DVD, actually this is only my 3rd time to watch DVD after acquiring the rotel power amp. about 2 weeks ago (1st: Diana Krall Live in Paris & 2nd: Air Force One, Superbit Coll.), been pre-occupied w/ some deadlines so i'd been listening more to CDs than watching videos ;)........all i can say to describe the audio quality of my system now is: I JUST REALIZED THAT I'VE BEEN MISSING A LOT LOT MORE!!!!! :o :o :o :o :o
parang ang dami ko palang sinayang na mga oras & kuryente ;D the past 7 years or so looking for that good quality sounding HT set-up, ito lang pala na route (separates) ang da best, how much more siguro if i have a matching rotel pre/pro katulad nila pareng Ricky & sanmig_ph, but that's another story & another post...... ;D

Naku Leo yang findings mong yan malamang dumami na tayo naka ROTEL ;D 2 yrs ago when I had my rotel,parang walang pumapansin ??? so feeling ko parang yung attitude ko eh love my own lang kasi talagang happy and satisfied ako sa system ko but the comments i was getting was far from owning a yamaha or harman kardon :o Mas maganda yung review ng yamahas and harmans instead of ROTELS kaya hindi ko na lang post yung system ko.Si matt,blu and redge lang convince sa akin na i-post ko na ;D But now that more and more na yung nakaka appreciate ng Rotel,happy and mas proud na ako ;) Kaya for the last 2yrs wala ako upgrade ng gears ko ;Dkasi once naka rotel ka na malamang makukuntento ka na ::) ;D

iba pa rin ang tunog ng analog pre. something that a true audiophile cant live without.

my Evo 30s are amazingly good :o.......punchy & tunefull bass that can go very deep (authoritative as expected of a floorstander), yet w/ a sweet & detailed mids & highs of a standmounter, in other words these are well balanced full range speakers that can handle any & all types of music........at their local prices, getting these speakers is really a no-brainer :D
if you're more into audio, i suggest you get the Evo 30 8)

classicman, wag ka magsasalita ng tapos pre...we all know you will end up spinning vinyls...every audiophile does. what is the sense of making a great set up if you wont spin a vinyl? sabi nga nila, "vinyl...just another polite way of saying..digital sucks" :)
iba pa rin ang tunog ng analog pre. something that a true audiophile cant live without.
pareng accastil, id 'been there, done that' on vinyls during the "quadrosonic" days in high school (though it was admittedly not in audiophile grade system) :).......medyo nalulula lang ako sa laki ng gastos if i have to build a vinyl collection that would essentially be the same albums/titles as i already have on CDs, & more importantly, nakakatamad mag maintain ng TT & vinyls ;D ;D ;D

bai, we used to live in clarita vill., punta princesa for about 5 years before we transferred our residence here in compostela, cebu......kung wala ka kaayo lingaw one of these days, suroy-suroy lang ngari sa balay :)
