Thanks guys. It is totally a budget preamp considering the parts use is RAON base.... >:D >:D >:D To me, sound will not differ from what i have right now. FYI, i tried to design my own circuit just to try if i'm doing my homework right. Definitely, with the parts used, there's still room for improvement and by that time i will decide what chassis to use.

Kelan ba session? I have to replace muna other parts, dyahe kc eh! But for sure, i'm willing to loan it to you once the preamp is ready for audition. ;) ;) ;)
Actually right now i'm using it with my gainclone. Pag-uwi ko sa friday, try ko naman to my beloved ST70.... :) :) :)

suggestion ko lang, sana inilayo mo pa yung rectifier, i.e., in front of the choke. baka kako kasi gusto mong ipantay-pantay mga tubes pero mas importante yung malayo rectifier kasi source ng noise yan.

Your suggestion will be considered once i tweaked this and will try to replace other parts to an exotic one. Actually, i had the chassis already before i got the transformer and i never expect it that big. I like the built of the transformer and impress how it is made. Center tap output voltages has the same readings, this is due to the biffiliar wound being made by our friend on other forum. Thanks to him!!! ;) ;) ;) And to you arnold by simulating my circuit.
Final chassis in mind is a wooden base. ;) ;) ;)

Andy, I believe mas maganda nga tunog nyan considering your reference. Don't replace yet all cheap components, lets build another one of course with premium parts then lets compare. By the way, about the chassis can I assume that this can be fit on the size of your reference amp?

marshall iceman! kumbinsihin mo si handyman itest sa inyo.
ikabit nyo sa 300B mo. dont forget sa feedback ha.

In my simple words, yun walang 4th constant medyo matalas, and to some materials, sibilant din. Yun meron naman sir, mas controlled yun highs, parang mas clearer sya at may definition. Di marunong magsinungaling, pag panigt plaka pangit din tunog. :)
I used ss rectifiers (UF4007) only with a B+ = 385VDC, as always, paramount filtering is a must. Duncan's PSU designer helped a lot in this department. I was supposed to have regulated the phono psu with a Mosfet pero di na push thru sir.
Sana tube rectifier naman pag ikaw na nag try. ;D

Yup, 965R yun composed of 56R + 909R resistors. Sabi ni Frank ok naman daw kung 1K gamitin pero minabuti ko na yun sumunod sa computed value.

yes, silver wire (shielded) for the signal wiring with shrinkable tube on both ends and audience hook up wires for the heaters! ;D
diameter for RCA is 3/8". aside from rene, you can also get it from phasetron. raon also has good RCAs and binding posts.

frank's design is a buffer linestage that has no gain, it's just an active buffer preceded by volume control! :) good thing with this preamp is with the current sources, you don't need the gain at all in which you're amp cannot be easily clipped due to overdrive condition on amp's input! ;D

setup time! i powered this amp without incident! i tested it using an md player! still in evaluation stage as i have to check actual voltages and make adjustments as needed! no hum and no instabilities were audible. i will have to check this with a bose 101 and compare the sounds!

futterman amps used this topology as early as the late 60's, uses dual rails just as ss amps did, in fact ss designers got their idea from this topology! ;D
does away with outptu transformers as the speaker is derectly connected to the output!
as output transformers are the achilles heel of any tube amp desing, this topoplogy eliminated at least one problem.

if you want to build this set amp, just get the circuit from decware, my amp uses ss rectifers in a voltage doubler from a120volts ac@500mA. with choke filters and big caps!
for the output transformer, they are wound from a 7/8in core, sqaure stack. primary has 5400 turns of #35 wire in three sections connected in series, secondary has 216 turns of #30 wire 2 coils wired in parallel! you can ask your favorite winder do this for you. btw, interleaving is like this, primary, secondary, primary, secondary, then finally primary. be dure to provide adequate inseulation between windings!
also, be sure all the E's go together, there should be a 10mill gap between the E and the I, a mylar plastic sheet may be used.
using a bobbin is the only way to wind this output traffo!

thanks, actually i found a source in raon selling 6080 for 1000 nos, and much lower if used! but 6336 is much stronger, for an otl amp.
watson is selling 807's for 1800, 813 for 3500 but they do not have sockets and plate caps! ;D
i would like to try out the 6080 for a tube push-pull amp!

A1 Plating can do satin black anodizing for PHP850 for a 12"X15" aluminum plate chassis. Or I can just retain the "quite good" polished surface that I did and spray it with automotive urethane clear coat. (I might do the latter so i can claime a true "DIY Amp"). ;)
BTW, I removed the pot on my diy amp so I will be forced to diy a preamp. Am looking into the foreplay 3 or a 12b4 preamp.

I personally auditioned Andy's foreplay at my house for 2weeks paired with my nad 304 and b4. All I can say is Im very impressed with it. Grabe ang sarap makinig :). I used a creative zen vision m as my player pero ang ganda ng tunog nung kinabit ko yung foreplay nya parang cd na ang tunog. kung may pera lang ako binili ko na yan.

I also got an idea na ilagay ko na rin ang vol control ng diy pre amp ko sa ibabaw, (in front-center of the two tube pre amps) just like you did to one of your tube amps I just saw earlier.
Parang mas maganda kc kung isang mini super brigth blue LED lang ang nasa front panel. Is it okay? :)

if the reason you want to look for a tube amp in raon is that cheap cost. forget it. there are many sellers and builders here who can give more value to your first tube investment.
for example tony t can build you a very good tube amp for less.
if you want branded you may look for pre-owned cayins. you may also go to makati citi square basement and you'll find a lot of 2nd hand tube amps..assorted brands.

correct, the sakura hybrid vacuum tube amp at Raon is not truly a hybrid tube amp but rather an SS amp with tube buffers, the two small tubes (6N2) acts as cathode followers which gives it the tube sound
sabi nga ni sir Tony "for the tubes to have an impact they must be used as "common cathode" in the circuit for the 2nd harmonics to come out...
the effects of the visible glow of the tubes of the sakura is psychological.......for the technically challenged they will see this as a tube amp because of the tubes but this is not the "classic” tube amp
the chinese designed the tubes to be "eye candy" and make people believe the sakura to be a tube amp...
if you want a tube sound, then get a real tube amplifier...."
i have the AV-400 model, a bit different from the Sakura but still not a true tube amp but am very happy with it considering i got it dirt cheap and had sir Tony done some preventive mods to it

if you want a real tube amp i believe sir Tony can sell you a complete kit ikaw na lang magbubuo if you have the skills or wants DiY, contact him na lang for details

I agree with you. This is a journey na along the way, marami kang matututunan until you get the system that you prefer.
My advice is to listen to as much system as you can to know the sound that you like, then listen to your system and know it by heart. By doing this, you will be able to know the weakness of your own system and slowly conquer them.
