If marantz is more of a musical receiver while yamaha is more of an ht receiver bec of its cinematic effects, will marantz perform better on movie soundtracks or yamaha is still the winner since it is till with regards to movies, cinema, ht or whatever you call it?

any comment on this?

btw, I'll be using mission speakers.

can't really tell pre coz i havnt heard yamaha.  im very curious & intruiged though.  if u happen to get an invitation to visit somebody's yamaha system i'd like to tag along hehe... i know its not easy to ask for an audition but some stores can be very accomodating.  ask around sa yamaha thread where they got theirs and then go there and audition.

there's nothing like an actual audition to verify its performance.  all these reviews and comments only reflect the opinion of somebody else.  its your own opinion & taste that counts the most because its your own hard-earned money spent for your own enjoyment.

narayan, it sounds like a good match.  mordaunt is exclusively distributed by marantz in the states.  mordaunt's marketing PR says that the 900 series are ideal for use with marantz.  even the various audio shows in europe are trumpeting the marriage by saying that "none other than Ken Ishiwata has assisted in voicing the new design" (ms-912/914 speakers).  he's the KI in marantz KI signature.

the specs, as usual with most other brands, aren't always consistent but close enough.  the brochure says its 110W x 6, the manual says 105W x 6.  my ears say they're probably less, but not too much.  like some kenwood models it has Circle Surround II, but no THX-EX or HDCD decoding.  there's multi-room/zone, component video switching, 7.1 pre-in/outs (important!), 192/24-bit DACS, discrete current feedback amps, etc.

akyatbundok,

based on what you quoted, I will certainly agree that its an excellent match. btw, I also normally use circle sound II for 2 channel source listening. it certainly improves the sound quality!

if I am not mistaken, it seems that only marantz and kenwood have included CSII in their current AVR models.

yup, i checked the SRS Labs website... aside from marantz & kenwood, the other brands that use Circle Surround on receivers are hi-end names Accuphase and Theta Digital.  on to the HDCD website, i saw 3 brands: marantz, kenwood & HK.  not in all models though.

Hi Guys!

Got my marantz 6300 from Sonny T. last week!  Got also my Mission Speakers from him a few months back.

Thanks to Gutierez and all of you for the insights.

Although I'm experiencing the same low speaker volume (same as Gutierez's problem) as I tested it out last weekend.  I've not played around with the settings yet but hoping I could fix it.

Sa Yamaha ko kasi dati, plug and play lang.  I tried both optical cable and RCA cable for the audio, parehong mahina.

Pero I know maganda itong Marantz, narinig ko ito sa demo e.  Kaya dapat ma-achieve ko din ito.

Thanks!

Probably becoz the demo room has better acoustic ambiannce than your own room na....or the speakers used, cables are different from what you are using

It can't be the room coz my room is about half the size of the demo room, can't be the speakers coz I demoed it with the same speakers, can't be the cables coz the cables that I'm using is the same cables used to test my speakers be4 I purchase it (not the same avr nga lang pero mas mababang model)

Medyo weird lang ksi tatlo na kami with same experience and ang laki ng difference sa lakas ng volume, for me it's more than half  :(

And it's bad trip ksi di ko pa talaga nagagamit yun setup ko, di pa nga nabreakin yun speakers and receiver, ni hindi pa nga ako nakapanood kahit isang film  :'(

as long as its under warranty.. if you have a problem with your receiver... return it to the store where you purchased it to resolve the problem that you are encountering.. or if possible, let the store technician calibrate your setup at your house..  ;D

It has nothing to do with the sub, coz wala pa ko sub, yun front and center mahina yun rear bumubulong lang.  Kapag  di ko pa naayos to mmya bebenta ko nalang and just go with HTIB anyway magsing lakas lang naman sila, I'm pissed off and disappointed na  >:(

Walang problema yung receiver ksi nun demo with same kind of speakers ang lakas ng tunog ok na ok, yun akin parang HTIB with satellites  ;D

feeling ko set up lang yan may mali dyan.baka naman naka mute yan..ehhe

pwede naman taasan ang speaker level settings ah.. wag ka madisappoint agad . Have you read the manual ba and followed it to the letter?  I ve heard a marantz 4300 + mission m72 and I can say na malakas sya compared to any htib ive heard

di kaya naka-ON ang ATT mode (attenuate) by default?  pag press mo ng ATT sa remote, magiging kalahati ang volume level.  yung usually malakas like -10 ay magiging mahina.

yup, that's another possibility... on marantz receivers its called Night Mode.  when its turned on, loud passages become... well, not loud, as if the receiver is turning down the volume for you automatically.

so there may be 2 reasons your sr6300 isn't playing loud:

ATT mode - cuts down the volume in half

NIGHT mode - cuts down the volume of loud passages
