Anybody tried locking banana plug 90 deg. angled  with plastic cover to prevent accidental short circuit? It's availbale at Hyperaudio's place at very reasonable price (Php 150.00 each).

im using this kind of plug.  :)

Hello.  I'd like to hear your thoughts on Banana Plugs.  How much they costs in Raon.  Is there any difference between those sold at Park Square 1 vs those in Raon.  etc.  Thanks!

imo, there's nothing really significant sa banana plugs unless you often remove the speaker wires (ex. during cleaning, change position of gears, etc.).  mas madali and convenient kung banana plug kasi you don't need to screw the wires sa gears mo if you need to remove and attach it.  banana plug won't improve the performance of your gears.

last saturday i bought 2 pairs of banana plug  (gold plated) sa raon.  it only cost P70/pair na. kaso nakalimutan ko yung name ng store. kung galing ka sa overpass (quiapo) pag baba mo, yung first street to your left doon lang banda ang store. these banana plugs are the same from the banana plugs i saw sa sights and sounds (shangrila) which cost around P135/pair.

bumblebee, sorry wala akong pic ng banana plug na nabili ko.  i haven't seen the one from tru value also kaya i can't compare.  pero ok naman ang build ng nabili ko.  same sa nabili ko dati sa sights n sound sa shangrila (yung P135/pair na).  if you also saw the banana plug na ginagamit ng arch audio parang pareho yung build nun.

I used 2 pairs of banana plugs only for my front L & R connections in my AVR for bi-wiring purposes.

I bi-wired an 11ga Ixos 6006 with Audio pro 16ga, and I realized it was so hard to connect them to the AVR due to its very thick size/diameter. So I used the banana plugs to accomodate the 2 wires and to connect easily to the AVR. I am still saving up for Ecosse cs2.3 to replace the Audio Pro, so thats another thick wire again. I did not use banana plugs for the speakers, pinagtyagaan ko na lang isiksik yung wire to the tiny holes in the speakers.

I saw 2 kinds of banana plugs at Sound Dimension, one with a smaller hole and one with a bigger hole. I got the one with the bigger hole so I could accomodate future bi-wiring.

Bro, the ones I got were also Quantum Brand (2nd picture). I got it for P80 each sa Sound Dimension, Park square 1. Masyado ka yata mukhang RICH magdamit kaya the salespeople give you high prices...  ;D

Listening Room Megamall also has banana plugs for P70.00 each but its doenst have any brand. You dont need to go to Raon anymore :)

bro, i forgot the name of the store where i bought the banana plug sa raon (P80/pair pero tinawaran ko ng P70 :)).  pero kung galing ka sa overpass (quiapo side) pag baba mo meron dyan may parang Metro something na store sa left side.  tapos sa first street, turn left ka.  dyan banda sa right side na store ko nabili ang banana plug. yung store may quantum sign sa loob. sa left side ng street na yan meron din mga banana plug.  enjoy nalang sa paghahanap.  :)

Banana clips
Hi, I went to Raon last Saturday and

PLASTIC CLEAR BRACKETS
got myself five pairs of Banana Plugs at 100 pesos per pair.  This is the kind that has a plastic clear bracket that keeps 'em together.  In Park Square 1, it costs P130 to P150 per pair... so 30% mark-up ang ginagawa nila.

Small Silver Brand Looking Plugs
Then, meron din yun at P80 each.  Parang hi-end ata 'to na plugs, pero hindi ito ang kinuha ko.  Sa Park Square, it is sold at P100 each... Mark-up is 25%.

Ordinary Plastic Plugs
Sa True-Value, this costs P30 per pair.  Sa Raon, it costs P3.00 per piece.  Mark-up is 900%.

But mind you, it is difficult to find these plugs at Raon.  When you ask for its availability, tell them hindi yung "ordinary," kundi yun yung mataba ang hinahanap mo.

To my dismay, when I got home, hindi ko pala basta mai-kabit yung wires sa plugs.  kelangan pala mag solder pa. :(  Anyway, stupid question, dun ba sa dulo, yung may maliit na butas, i-solder yung wire at dapat i-solder talaga?  Hindi dun sa butas ng banana plug i-kakabit yung wire?  As in, punuin ng Led yung butas ng banana plug at dun  mo i-salpak yung wire?  ganun ba?

Pasensya na po... baguhan din ako dito kasi.  Thank you!

the coupled banana pairs are what audio enthusiasts should buy, not the single plugs. this is much safer than individual plugs where you run the risk of shorting positive and negative wires if amp is on and one wire got unplugged or you're working on your speaker terminal. shorted wires would ruin your expensive amp. take note that distance between left and right plugs/holes in amps and speakers are standard for 95% of US and UK gears, thus the coupled pair almost always fits the terminals. for non-standard distances, which is rare (mostly Japanese banana-terminated amps and speakers), that's when individual bananas are necessary.

tama ka, you should solder the wire in the hole (to be filled with lead). if you bought your banana plugs cheap, itago mo na lang and buy more coupled pairs with plastic moldings - should be P130/pair for Quantum brand, Phoenix Gold's premium coupled pair is about P600, Taiwan-made is about P120/pair. an alternative to cheap individual banana plugs would be the solderless-type sold at Ace Hardware @ P80 per pair. ipapasok mo sa middle hole ng banana yung wire, tapos i-ipitin mo lang ng two screws, okey na. quality of metalwork, including plating, is comparable with European types sold at prices 10 times more.

Thanks, Sandawa for the info.  I'll solder them, fill 'em with Led.  Make sure, nothing is sticking out in the risk of oxidation of the wires.  :)

I spent a good three hours of soldering the wires into the banana plugs' holds.  Geeezzzz... easier said than done.  I was asking myself yesterday if I was doing the soldering properly.  Got 'em in... got 'em to stay in... now, need to test the system tonight.  :)

i forgot the name of the store, facing qcmc from anonas, turn right going to cubao, pero its already near the corner of aurora and anonas. its in between the pharmacy and banco de oro ata yun.

btw, also saw some quantum rca jacks there, tagged at 280 pair, pero matatawaran pa yun.

Just came from Raon a few days back.

Generic gold banana plugs there are P50 a pair & the one with both connected by a plastic are P60.00 a pair.

these ones below could go as low as P12/ piece

Hi... with the different plugs that we've been showing here, can someone take time to take a picture of your BANANA PLUG with WIRES already... at kung paano nyo nai-solder yun?  Nagawa ko na yung pag solder ko sa B.Plugs ko, kaso, isang baldeng pawis inabot ko sa hirap ng pag solder.  Share nyo naman ang mga gawa nyo!

Thanks.

Be extra careful when using all metal banana plugs.  When they dangle, it's so easy to short them at the expense of your amp.
