Hmm... nadala na ata ako sa KK P3... prebook tapos paglabas, ampangit pala... pero ok naman ung HP4... hmm...  :-[

To add fuel to the fire.  HP4 is Warner, which nobody complains about, while Kingkong (together with Geisha) is Magnavision.   The prerelease photo looks nice, I preordered, let's see how it comes out next week...

100 pesos reservation.  695 when stock arrives.  So you get 100 off the regular price of 895...

I think it would be safe to pre-order this title. Even if experience tells us that caution must be made when pre-ordering Magnavision titles (King Kong, for example), Memoirs of a Geisha is a Sony Pictures release. And given the quality of the non-budget edition Sony DVD's, which I think are at par with their R1 counterparts, I believe the Php 795 you're going to invest for this DVD is safe and reasonable. Personally, I would take part in this promo, if only I don't already own the R1 version.

preordering of course. i felt was trapped when i preordered KK months ago for the mere reason that i am not given an option for refund or cancellation.

the japan or korean release is the way to go (for me).

hmmm.. since no release pix from the japanese edition, cant comment on that one.

korean release: http://www.madmad.co.kr/dvd/detail.html?dvd_id=19157

-----

which do you think is more valuable? booklet/photobook or film cut? boils down to perception IMO.

wondering if i will pre order this title....but...was soooo disappointed with King Kong (was lending this copy to friends nga coz i dont mind if it gets scratched or what not)....that i will most probably not get the local version.

the korean release with the film cut looks nice though........   for me, parang mas valuable yun film cut coz a booklet/photobook can always be reprinted but i dont think that you can do the same for the film cut (hmm...limited production probably) - but then again, that's jaz me :)

then, you would agree with me that the japanese edition (despite of the price) is the way to go..

Apparently, there are three Japanese releases for Geisha, the plain but still expensive Regular Edition; a Premium Edition, which includes the soundtrack; and the Memoire Box (This is the LE) also with the soundtrack and maybe other cool stuff and maybe a disc more than the Premium edition which costs $70! Good news is, all of them have English and Japanese language tracks! Bad news is, all the details are sketchy. My decision-making just got a whole lot harder, with local release mirroring the Thai and HK ones, and Korean release's senitype. Sigh. NOW I don't know what to buy. Looks like talagang kailangang mag-double dip.  ;D

Will they not allow you to get a refund on your deposit if you're not satisfied with the product when it comes out? I can speak with certainty that for two previous "pre-booked" titles, I got refunds on my Php 100 deposits when I saw the actual product and wasn't satisfied - The Animatrix (due to the lacking subtitles on the special features), and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (since the deal was for "Unrated Director's Cut" and what was actually released was the theatrical version).

Hmmm...Good idea.

But to be on the safe side, I'd tell the salesperson (and get their name): "Kung pangit yung slipcase, magpapa-refund ako, ha?" if you're not that good of a suki in the store.

I'm a pretty good suki...  ;D

for me, it's really not worth it to reserve even with a P100 savings. ill check if it's good enough upon release date and skip one starbucks drink to break even.

I think it should be available for reservation sa ibang braches. I saw it in SM Bicutan and I think in Festival Mall.

Decided not to pre-book Giesha anymore, it's coming out tommorow laman eh, will check out after watching X3, also the Astro sales lady told me that there is some kind of ticket available in the Giesha DVD with a chance to win a "Giesha" costume from the movie, but she doesn't know if it will only be available to the people who pre-booked...
