I'm still undecided on which LCD to get... and now a new wave of models are coming. I do hope they come in the same price as the current models. ;D

I read through the other AV forums and some people from the UK and US are getting the new models as the prices are not that far from the current models.

The local samsung website doesn't have the new models posted yet. I checked the other samsung sites around asia and found 3 new series... S81, R81 and M81. Based on the specs of the models they are being compared with the following current models:

S81 (1366x768) = R71
R81 (1366x768) = N71
M81 (1920x1080) = F71

The new models have higher contrast ratios. Both R81 & M81 have 3 HDMI inputs (2 at the back + 1 on the side) with the M81 supporting HDMI 1.3.

I posted this in another thread already but a salesman at SM Appliance at the Podium offered me the model 32R81B or "Bordeaux Plus" for 99k but less 25k for a cash purchase... That was last weekend... He said they should have the new units available soon but was offering to reserve 1 for me already...  ;) ;)

You might want to check it out...

saw the new bordeaux r81 in market market (the center area) this saturday.  i think automatic center was the one with the display. they were selling it for 69995 including a home theater system 12 months daw. . pero pwedeng ipaapprove to 18 months.  cash purchases will definitely get better deals.  the salesman told me that the model has been around for around a month with samsung.   i guess the dealers are still trying to get rid of the older models before bringing out the new ones.

but in market market they have it  on display already.

they were written on a price card and it was taped on the r81. so no question about the price.  it says 99xxx less whatever = 69xxx. 12 months etc etc.

I went to Automatic Center ATC today and saw the Samsung LA32R81BX (32-inch LCD) for P69,900 (card w/ HT) and the Samsung LA40R81BX (40-inch LCD) for P149,900 (card w/ HT). According the sales rep it was delivered to the store less than 2 weeks ago and had price cuts 2 days ago.

I compared the Samsung LA32R81BX (32-inch LCD) to the Sharp Aquos LC-32PX5M (32-inch LCD) and Toshiba Regza 32WL68E (32-inch LCD) and it beats them both hands down when it comes to picture quality. My Macbook Pro autodetected and set the proper resolution for the Samsung while failing with the Sharp & Toshi. The Sammy had 3 HDMI 1.2 ports, 2 component ports and other analogue ports. I found the Toshi and Sharp thicker than the Sammy.

Paying cash & foregoing the HT brought down the price to 61-62T for the 32-inch LCD. What I like most about these Bordeaux Plus LCD is the backlight reduction feature which really helps with the blacks.

guys do you think SAMSUNG's LA32R81B here in Singapore will work there Manila?

here's what the specs says on the local website here:

System:
Color system     Pal Multi
Power              Free Volt

http://www.samsung.com/sg/products/tv/lcdtv/la32r81b.asp?page=Specifications

planning to buy one for my room here... syempre i would have to make sure it will also work in Manila if in case I need to go home na for good.

thanks.

if it is pal-based, you would need to make sure your connected devices are multi or pal compatible.
