Sir Mark,

Isa kang Alamat talaga!

See you later po. Sana may lutong Original Buko Pie pag daan namin.  ;)

Thanks sir Mark for your unending hospitality.
The party was a blast and your speakers was just incredible.
Star Wars Ep.1 podrace scene never sounded as real as it was with your speakers.

And it was a pleasure meeting familiar faces and new ones as well.
Congratulations to all the winners!!  ;)

Thanks to everyone who attended the EB. Sobrang saya.

Let me reserve my comments on the Stella speakers until after I've set them up properly. Maybe my initial comment is that they have so little distortion that you can listen really loud and di masakit sa tenga. It's really surprising.

Many thanks sir Mark! I always consider an invite from you as a special privilege especially with the new Stella!!! ;D ;D ;D

To be honestly brutal, hindi ako napagod this time, I was so at ease even at high volumes! The sonics of the Stella is so well balanced, top to bottom. Audio or HT she was a winner in all aspects, Eq'd or direct, still a winner!

This upgrade of yours is the one that makes the most impact of all upgrades, swabe and hindi nakakapagod makinig! Galing!

Next time, special request ko ulit yun Drumbone track ng The Blue Man Group at 0dB!!!  ;D ;D ;D

Huwag ka masyado matakot, the Stella's are rated to handle 1000W and with your 1000W mono amps, I'm sure clipping will be a thing of the past!

Maraming marami salamat po ulit sa inyo, may you have good health and more wealth for more upcoming upgrades and EBs!!! God Bless you sir!

Salamat sa comments mo. I always value your views highly because firstly, they are based on science, a good ear and a lot of experience. Secondly, you are typically, as you have said, brutally honest.  ;D

Di ako natatakot to jack up the volume to reference levels if the only speakers playing are the fronts (pati na center, but wala naman material that uses 3 channels) because of the ratings of these speakers and power amps (up to 1000 watts). I worry about the surrounds because they aren't huge speakers and even if the amps go up to 200 watts per channel RMS, baka kulang pa rin at reference level. The problem is that with some material (not a lot but some) played at very high levels (around -3 db), the surrounds have been acting up. Lately, parang may static. Dati, they bottomed out with Tron:Legacy. This usually happens if the material has an overpowering all-around sound (not just fronts but also surrounds) that is sustained.

By the way, for those who aren't familiar with "reference level", this is that level at which a recording was mixed. For film, there is a strict standard, which is an average of 85 db at the listening position and 105 db peaks, except for the LFE channel which can have 115 db peaks. Reference level is important because human perception of bass (and even treble) varies with volume. At lower volumes, you need to adjust bass upwards in order to "hear" the same amount of bass. Thus, it is only at reference level that you hear the sound with the bass, mid-range and treble in balance, exactly as it was intended by the mixer.

For music, there is no standard. Kanya-kanyang diskarte and that's why some music recordings are very loud, others are soft while others are super-compressed so that everything sounds loud (even softer tracks). This is another major reason why I didn't want to listen to Blue Man Group at 0.0 db because I'm not sure if that disc was mastered with standards similar to film. Malay natin that the mixer's reference standard was at -5.0 db? Ang lakas na kasi sobra when we listened!  ;D

If you use a Denon AVR with Audyssey MultEQ, "reference level" is at 0.0 db. Onkyo also uses Audyssey MultEQ but I'm not sure at what reading is their "reference level". If you try to listen at reference level, you will typically very quickly give up. Nakakabingi. Most people listen at -15 db to -20 db. It's only when you have a very good room and system that you can listen at reference level without your ears bleeding.

I'm very sure kaya yan ng surrounds mo master mark even at deeps of 120db :o. After hooking up my multi line output/inputs mas inclined na ako listen at 85db, iba yung feeling talaga.

It's the least I can do sir Mark, besides, friends don't lie to each other!  ;D

Kaya pala naman, yes, I understand that there are some tracks that also overpower the surrounds to such end that they bottom out. ;D

Another excellent piece of info sir Mark! The reason why sometimes I like to listen at reference levels is that this is the only level at which you'll hear maximum attack and decay of a signal as intended by the mixer. This is also where all the signal "drama" is most of the time, though it is very dangerous to do especially with poorly built and matched systems. So don't everybody try this at home!  ;D

Ah, the Loudness Wars... this started in broadcast engineering but soon landed itself in recorded material because humans perceive loudness as more music. And as Jason said during the last HiFi Show... "Everything will tend to sound good at over 100dB!"...

Ganun talaga yun Drumbone, mahina lang sa umpisa... then bang!  ;D ;D ;D

sir mark, i can not believe power and finnesse can be pressent at the same time.

Thats one thing i have heard so differently with the new speakers, i can feel the brute power yet im hearing the sweet sound and swabeng dating sa tenga, when we tried listening at +5db, i felt the brute power without fatiguing my ears, the sound puts you inside a huge envelop and that everything just becomes part of you.

one thing bigger and better than your stella though is not the grande but your generosity and kindness.may you continue to have good health and more years ahead of you, thank you so much to you and your family for always welcoming us to your home.

Onkyo is at 0db(infinite volume setting) and 82db(absolute volume setting) as well similar to Denon for reference level. I am slowly exploring this part as I have not gone past beyond 65 db eversince but tried the blue man group at 70 db over the weekend and it seems i can go beyond it eventually. Its really a different experiece trying to crank it up that high.

Thanks once again for your generosity sir Mark & Gigi at masayang riot uli ang nagyari. Nice to have met everybody, both old and new faces alike! :)

Tho' not broken in yet, the improvement in the highs & mids are already evident. Ano pa kaya after 300hrs.? Congrats! Stella is definitely an upgrade sir Mark. :)

Actually, just based on specs and its construction, the major improvement of the Stella over the Maestro is supposed to be in the bass frequencies. Yet, it is very true that there is a very clear improvement in the mids and highs. This is in spite of the fact that the tweeters are the same and the mids are the same (except that the Stella has 2 mids). I would attribute the difference to the cabinet. Somehow, the cabinet has helped improve the mids and highs significantly better, something I never expected.
No room acoustic treatment is like running a Ferrari on ice.
