I've been reading this thread to get ideas on how to make the back light and was suppose to follow what simonzaide did... but when I was going around Ace looking for the other components for the DIY I saw this 8watt, T5 cabinet light by Akari.

The cabinet light is available in 2 configurations, with diffuser + housing or plain holder lang.  It is also available in blue, green, daylight, red and warm(yellow) light.  Nice thing about this is meron na din pang mount sa wall but since magaan lang sya I decide to just use double stick tape.  It also has it's own on/off switch and additional cord if you wish to put more lights (series).  The best thing is the price, P349.75 yung may diffuser and P300.00 yung plain.

I also use the same Akari Brand but mine is 14Watts,T5 using white lamp but are contemplating on replacing it with a Blue lamp. Easy set-up talaga comes with power cord and power switch.

this is interesting...  sana magkaroon ng breakthru na ma hack ang ambilight system ng philips... so far meron ng naka imitate, but you would need a pc pa to do this...

waiting for the day when this will be commecially available..

anyways.. ano ba ang pinakamagandang light? isnt blue too harsh sa eyes?

would warm be ok? might put one on my setup..

crossing my fingers that this device would be available soon.. kahit diy or homebrew

No more stock ng 8W Ikea sa Ace Market Market. Pati sa Akari wala na din.
Plus they don't have the colored ones -- pura white and warm white.
Need to check other stores.

Blame this thread!  ;D I am also looking for an 8-watt blue Ikhea lamp but it's out-of-stock. I already went to Ace MOA and SM Sucat to get another one but unfortunately, the only available stocks are the white and yellow lamps.  :( When I bought mine a few months ago, there were a lot of blue lamps but now they are all gone.  :)

if you guys find the 20 watt to bright an option is to have a dimmer type of switch installed(the one that you turn clockwise to make it brighter and counterclockwise to make it dimmer)
its commonly used for wall sockets but ithink i saw a small one at at na pwede narin gamitin will try to get a photo of it pagpunta ko sa mall

^Pwede din, kasi balak ko din lagyan ng switch yung 8W para mas madali patayin. Kaso the 20W that I saw are too long.
Ideal talaga yung 8W ng Ikhea eh. Will check DIY sa Rob Pio baka meron sila.

saan ninyo nga pala dinidikit...sa table or sa wall? sa aken kasi sa wall, the light facing the back center of the tv...noong una, balak ko dikit sa tv para magba-bounce yung light sa wall, pero baka hindi safe...

Finally got my DIY light and installed it  ;D ;D ;D Maraming salamat sa mga ideas nyo.

Ako sa wall naka dikit (3M mounting tape) bouncing off the back of the TV. IMO mas maganda kung sa wall nag b-bounce per sayang yung TV.
Wala na talaga stocks Ikhea. Buti na lang meron alternative QUSUN. 8W din with red, bluw, yellow and green colors to choose from.
Ang ok dito eh pwede mo i-series yung 2 lights..na hindi ko na-realize kaya isa lang kinuha ko...para both sa taas and baba meron with 1 switch.
I added a switch na malapit sa akin when lying down para pag hindi kailangan I can easily turn it off.

By the way, go it from DIY Shop sa Robinson's Pioneer. Getting another one to put on the lower side of the display.

Got the akira 8w T5 from ACE hardware but unfortunately there were no blue bulbs so I had to improvise on using the white bulb and wrapped it with blue cellophane paper that i got from national bookstore. I connected it to the wall behind my sammy using double-sided tape. works pretty well. It comes with the switch already so no need to create one from scratch. I will post the pic when I have time. this has been a helpful topic and was well worth it.  ;)

Same concern here, before i was using an akari 18watts white lamp covered by blue cellophane but during long period masyadong maiinit. Kaya nangyari pinalitan ko na lang ng ikhea 20watts blue lamp from ACE hardware. Gastos ulit pero safety first muna.

+1 ako diyan its okay to spend another 600 compared to burning all your possesions :) although the worse naman mangyari siguro is you just burn the cellophane :)

ropelight is good... dami sa binondo, i think its around 3-500 per meters tapos 2 meters minimum cut.. tapos install sa dimmer.. ill post pic of my setup..

ropelight LED= less power consumption=less heat, magaan pa..

i just installed mine using duct tape.. taped it behind my lcd..
