wow! potpot ganyan din lang gusto and choices...

i've narrowed down my choices to the following avrs.  budget is around 15k-18k (20k max)

yamaha 450/550 or 650 (2nd hand)
marantz 4500
HK 130 or 230 (2nd hand)
Denon 1705 or 1804 (2nd hand)

i guess its not so narrow...hehehe 8 units to choose from....hay!!!

for my speaker choosing between an all gale or diamond 9 set.  but i'll just start with a 2.0 set up and slowly build it.  wala budget e.

i how hope you guys can help me decide.  baka meron din offers dyan for i'll go for 2nd hand if the price is right it the item is in good condition. thanks!

Asul, we also have the same options. But i'm more inclined to get either an HK 130 or Marantz 4500. I'm leaning towards the Marantz because it has a more 'timeless' look compared to the HK (since in terms of features they both meet my requirements already).

I'm also in a tight budget and looked at the Diamond 9 series as an option. But since you're getting the fronts first, try out other brands such as Mordaunt Short, Dali, and Gail (at least those are what I've auditioned so far). Then again, adding the center, surround and subwoofer of the later brands will also be a more expensive option.

hahaha...ako din HCP...one of the pioneers din since 2000 din poster na. if i remember it right you drive an accord...anyway, thats what i've heard about the marantz

actually i was looking at the specs ok din for the price considering its a 7.1 with decent power.  5th ave quoted me for 17.5k cash meron bang better deal elsewhere? so now im limiting my choices to the following if i buy brand new. basta 18k max!

I've only read that the Marantz + Wharfe is a good combo since you can't find both in one shop. You can check out the Wharfe series 9 thread

walang on-screen menu ang sr4500 pero malinaw and user-friendly naman yung menu display niya. remote control is good once you get the hang of it. i can control my tv, dvd player and the amp with just the one remote. it has an fm tuner, too. good thing that you can choose a surround option also for the tuner (and most input actually). you need a well-ventilated area though for this amp as it can get quite hot, at least as compared to my bros yamaha.

i'm quite happy with my marantz-gale setup... and if you're anywhere near marikina you can try auditioning it in our place. but still i'm also interested to hear a diamond 9 setup with either an rxv450 or an sr4500. any volunteer with this setup willing to have his system auditioned?

i've had my sr7300 for more than 3 years and it's a tad on the bright side of neutral, imo.  if the 4500 character is like it, you might like to try pairing it with warmer, less forward speakers, e.g. monitor audio, dynaudio comes to mind.  not sure about the whardale's though

I only noticed yesterday that my marantz 4400 outputs only to the right speaker if on stereo mode.  Has anyone experienced this and has fixed it before?

Ask ko lang. I'm using 4500 model and during plugging my DVDs, walang flags na lumalabas na DD, DTS etc. tsaka L and R lang nakalagay sa mga speakers. Ano kayang problema dito? or is it a problem?

ano bang gamit mong cable/connection from dvd to ur avr?cguro naman naka digital cable ka or coaxial....pag hindi, PCM lang talaga un. Saka baka ung pinplay mo na dvd hindi DTS or DD.

Upgrade ka ba kt? mukhang sawa ka na sa euros mo. Baka first quarter next year ako upgrade ng speaker. wharfe or MS ang plano ko. Niwey, plano pa lang naman hehe..

Has anyone used their Marantz amp on speakers that are less than 8 ohms? I'm planning to get Monitor Audio speakers... after researching on them and listening to them I just noticed that they're 6ohms! I'm going to run them on an SR4500.

Any Feedback? TIA!

Yup! mahal nga MS pero ok tunog nya.

Pre, I think ka-level ng marantz 4500 sa yamaha is RXV-750. Parehas 7.1. Yun sana kukunin ko kaso nag-alangan ako sa 2k na price difference. Pero pinagsisisihan ko ngayon. Mas okay pala pag yamaha partner ng euros imo. Mas swabe kasi ang tunog pagdating sa HT. Pero sa music, I like Marantz more kasi soft sa tenga. Actually, kaya nga gusto ko upgrade ng MS kasi yun ang ginamit nung dinemo yung Marantz ko.

bro food yup i tried the ms904, ms905c, ms906 surround and its really nice n clear! kaso medyo mahal na compared sa other choices ko na wharfes 9.4 or yung gale 3030.

my current set up is sr6300 and jbl scs178 which is 4 ohms so far havent got any problems with it.....the sr6300 is rated up to 6 ohms min but im not sure with the sr4500 minimum spkr requirements
