A number of fellow members also tried this el-cheapo 8" driver (around P2,700/pair) with good results
Just google Viech Beyma 8ag/n to get more info.
Fullrange or point source drivers are good speakers for they have warm mid. However, not all fullrange produces very open mid and low frequency ( 35hz-40hz) at a low price. Only expensive pointsource speakers have those characteristics. As for Fostex, I think the F Series and Lowther is the one that paralleled the Audio Nirvana. Still, Fostex F series and Lowther are expensive pointsource speakers compared to Audio Nirvana.
The cabinet design helps the speaker performance. Hence, the performance is still poor in bass region or LF if the pointsource doesn't have good characteristics.
I auditioned lots of point source speakers before I risked on buying Audio Nirvana which I never had regrets buying it. For me, it's for keeps as long as the cabinet is 5.6 in narrow MK2 design of David Dicks. The mid is so natural and warm with lots of bass kicks depending on the cd disc played. Most of all, it's not choosy with regards to amplifier. One more thing, better to use magnet wire or at least 90% pure copper for the internal wiring. If you use silver wire it will only enhance the HF and MFreq but not the LF. A high quality copper wire will give a well balance result with point source speakers. It will give a lots of LF. You don't need a subz if you have AN Super 8 in 5.6 in narrow MK2 Cabinet design and high quality copper wire for internal wiring. Also, use Uratex egg tray type foam.
