Yup, delivery's on the way as per the warehouse team. You'll be able to order later this afternoon. Apparently PinoyDVD.biz ordered more tin editions than regular versions.

Went to both Astro Megamall & Podium this afternoon. According to them, their stock of the steelcase is already sold out.

Went immediately to Astro V-Mall & was finally able to get a copy. At around 3:30 PM, there were still around 3 copies left of the steelcase on their shelf.

bought mine earlier today in the block. natakot pa ko kasi baka ubos na. sa main astro branch sa north, walang display. luckily sa the block, may isa pa. i thought i had to go somewhere far pa just to have the steelcase edition.  ;D
Absolutely no regrets!

at around 130pm, i called up the following astro branches to ask if they still have the tin edition: Podium, Greenhills, Glorietta and Megamall. Lahat wala na.

Buti na lang nasa Sucat ako that time so tawag ako sa SM Sucat branch, 2 lang daw ang in-allot sa kanila. I got 1 of those 2 :)

Got a copy from Astro Makati this morning. I was planning to buy 2 copies (for me and a friend) but the  saleslady said " hanggang 1 lang po kasi 5  lang ang stock". But they might get a 2nd batch tomorrow. I believe this mirrors the R1 release, I think I'll be selling the R1 that I ordered when it arrives.

Got my copy at Astro Podium at around 12.30. I reserved yesterday. As I saw behind the shelf, they only had 3 copies. I took one, then the costumer next to me took one too...  :)

That's weird, I was able to get my copy from Astro Vmall around 6pm.

Hope all blockbuster movies will be released as steelbook... ;D

Arriving just when the store's about to close would have been my strategy, if it weren't for the 8:45 PM showing of "Letters From Iwo Jima", in which I was already reserved.

That said, I thought the DVD's would be housed in standard Amaray or cardboard casing, which in turn will be contained inside the tin steelbook (just like Superman UE or the original King Kong R1). This is the first time I've seen a packaging like that. I hope to see more releases packaged like that.

Oh, and if scratches worry you, you can buy plastic DVD sleeves from Japan Home. 88 bucks for a pack of 25. I already bought several for my cardboard-slipcased DVD's. Of course, there's a size limitation (I can squeeze in "The Corpse Bride" DE), but I think this particular tin steelbook case will fit snugly.

Hi sir! Where is Japan Home?  ;D

Waah!  I was there in greenhills this morning. Dropped by Astro but forgot what I was looking for.  I knew I was there for a reason but only remembered Casino Royal since I saw being displayed.  Now I'm really gonna kick myself for passing this up.

...sold-out na sa many astrovision ang Steelbook version ng The Departed... maybe they didn't expect the demand and The Oscars...

Quite true. If not for the Oscar win, I wouldn't have bought the steelbook version. Packaging really isn't that important for me, but since it was Best Picture, I figured, oh, why not?

I forgot all about this steel book.  I'm at Glorietta with my wife and daughter and forgot to pass by Astro.  O well I guess I have to wait for HD instead.   And also I've never been online for 2 weeks na.  :(

Got mine (steelbook) around 4:20 PM from Astro SM Makati yesterday. There were 3 on display. The side of the case is a little deceiving. I thought at 1st that the tin was a slipcase but still I'm very satisfied, especially knowing that this is a limited release.

Music One GB has 2 copies on display last night around 8:45pm. Also saw 2 copies displayed in SM Department Store Makati at the cd/dvd section at the ground floor. It seems both Astro SM makati and Glorietta are reserving theirs because I saw someone who claimed his from a saleslady. I was tempted to get one even if my friend from the US had already bought one for me.

According to saleslady: "Bukas sir, magreplenish kami ng stocks."

Hmm... let's see  ;)

Greenhills (in front of the parking structure where Astro is).

Hehehe... allanmandy, when was the last time you were in Greenhills?

Astro moved out of that parking structure and into V-Mall almost a year ago. That old Astro in the parking structure is already a Ling Nam;D

Oh yeah. I forgot. Last time I was there was last December (probably the only time I go to Greenhills) for some Christmas shopping and to see the C.O.D. display. I noticed that Astro Greenhills was no longer there. Hehehe!  ;D

Anyway, if Japan Home is still open there, I'm sure it's still in front of the parking structure.

OT: Since I am sort of a latecomer to DVDs (2006), pardon this question...  Is there any other steelbook that had been released locally, or is this the first?

Hey, you're right. d**n, misprint pa on the insert they included. It's also listed on the back of the keep case version, but I guess this will be missing from all R3 releases of this title?

From someone who's been collecting DVDs from Day One (and I have the posts here to prove it), yes, I believe this is the first locally-released steelbook. Steelbooks are a more recent packaging development, anyway - they were launched in 2004.
